🤫 WHISPERS 🤫

🖤 Chapter Ten 🖤
I sat with legs crossed in the living room, studying the seals, thinking of the third at the same time. I held both seals in my hands, holding them up to the light as I recited the location of the last seal.
“See the beauties in the clouds
Sing to the queen with a crown
The sky is nothing but her gown
The clouds the garment that flows down
Praise the maiden as white as snow
Dance to the sisters of ancient cold grounds.”
I just needed to put two and two together. Judith found the first one, Emy helped with the second and now it has to be either Sage or me. I tapped my foot in air, saying it allover and over again.
“I’m ready!” Emy shrieked, her shoes tapped on the stairs as she trampled down. I could hear Judith’s too and Sage’s sluggish strides. She was still tired from the wh0le phoenix thing, even I was drained from healing her.
“Look what Judith picked out for me!” Emy shrieked again, jumping in front of me. Emy wore a yellow crescent pattern dress. The dress hugged her torso all the way to her wa-ist where it flared halfway to her thighs. The band around the belt on her wa-ist had a full moon, a white and yellow full moon. She wore her lucky choker necklace which fit into the sweetheart neckline perfectly. Then she wore a simple golden flats.
“Wow,” I breathe when I looked at her hair, she washed off the dye and was now in her natural ash blonde hair.
“Do you like it? Chlorie said he thinks I’ll be much prettier with my natural look, so I removed my dye. Do I look okay? Because I feel like the most awkward girl right now.” She said nervously, playing with the hem of her dress.
“It looks beautiful Emy,”
Just like Esme… I so wanted to add.
“What about the dress? Don’t I look too simple?”
“I think she looks fabulous,” Judith said ecstatically, throwing herself on one of the vintage sofa.
“Yeah, you look like the simple girl you ought to be, not with lots of colours and makeup.” Sage commented.
“My thoughts exactly,” I smiled, “I love this look Emy, stick with it.”
“Hasn’t he arrived yet?” She asked worriedly, “his number isn’t going through and it’s been an hour already, he is one hour late. You don’t think he changed his mind, did you?”
Emy had this problem, she was beautiful and all, had all the boys swamping her like bees, but no guy she ever liked deeply consider her. How would I put it? The guy likes her, asks her out, but on the dates, something always comes up that makes the guy change his mind or never call her back after the first date. I’m talking about eleven times. As long as she is interested in the guy, things fall apart.
At first I thought it was just a sign that she was liking the wrong guy, but knowing about the wh0le Esme and Quinn thing, I’m starting to think Victoria had something to do with it. All Emy’s past relationsh¡ps were loveless relationsh¡ps, just for the fun and pleasure of dating.
“You told him where we live?” Judith gasped.
“Ur…yes? How would he pick me up?” She asked dumbly. Sage and Judith gro-ned in frustration while I face palmed myself. “What?”
“Judith, what part of secret house don’t you understand? Once he knows all four of us lives here, he is sure to know something isn’t right! That would be how we get exposed and the wh0le town is sleeping at our doorstep to get photos or something!” Judith shouted.
“Oh,” Emy murmured, “I didn’t think that through.”
“No, you didn’t.” Sage huffed.
“When he gets here, Sage and I will remain in,side, Judith will come out and leave with the car. Let’s say Judith came to help her get ready.” It was the only thing I could think of.
“It’s not like we have a better plan.” Judith shrugged.
“What if she don’t come out at all? It would be better that way.” Sage suggested.
“I was planning on warning him sternly not to hurt Emy, but I guess I will do that at school. In the mean time, we can do more research on the third clue, I just wanna go home already.” Judith complained.
A loud crazy honking outside made Emy jump, he was here. Emy placed her hand on her chest and did a small breathing test. “You got this girl!” Judith exclaimed to encourage her.
“And if he tries to be an assh-le, I’ll kill him.” Sage threatened. I rolled my eyes away, I wasn’t in support of the dating.
“Thanks girls, wish me luck.”
“We just did.” I deadpanned.
“What’s with you Candy?” Judith asked with a frown.
“Life.”
“Ignore her,” Sage said with a glare directed at me. I rolled my eyes again. Emy bounced outside with excitement. I shut my eyes and listened to every sound made outside.
Suddenly the darkness in my eyes began to take light and colours, morphing into the porch of the house. I was now seeing everything going on in the lawn, I was seeing through Emy’s eyes. I’m going to love using this powers.
“Wow Cheryl,” he gushed as he ogled the beautiful lady in front of him. I knew Emy was blushing, I could hear her giggling.
“You like it? I still think I look better in green.”
“Your eyes is enough green Cheryl, I love this you, so natural and real.” Okay, maybe it was wrong of me spying on my friend, but I wanted her to be okay.
I opened my eyes, I wasn’t going to spy on her no matter what. I focused my attention on the seals instead, sighing silently. I couldn’t concentrate, not with Emy on a date with a possible demon. I might have been the youngest, but since Tori died and I was made leader of the group, I automatically became a mom.
“Would you stop whimpering,” Sage huffed, “she will be fine, I trust him.”
“I don’t.” I whined.
“Then trust Victoria.” Judith said to my surprise. She shrugged when I looked at her, she knew.
“What did Victoria tell you?” I asked curiously.
“Well,” she threw her left leg over the other and leaned back on the arm of the three sitter sofa she sat, picking up the remote at the same time. “She said to tell you to stop worrying, their love have been written in the stars over years, that is why she stopped her from getting into any serious relationsh¡ps. If you noticed, Emy’s longest relationsh¡p was ten weeks, and that was because the guy traveled.”
“So…?” Sage asked expectantly.
“So this guy is the only person that can save Emy, without him, Emy would die between now and three days.” My heart sank down to my stomach.
“You know what, she can marry him.” I said with a nervous laugh. Judith laughed as she flipped through the channels. I focused my attention on the television, I still couldn’t think.
“Wait!” Sage shouted, she grabbed the remote from Judith and turned back to the channel. Her eyes studied the people skating on TV.
“Sage, what did you see?”
“Look,” she paused it and zoomed in on the wall. The wall was decorated to look like the clouds, three structures of women protruded out of the wall. The one on the middle had a crown on, the rest had crowns of clouds on their heads as they all blew winds from their mouths. They were so white.
“Sage,” I gasped, “you’re a genius!” Judith exclaimed.
“Sing to the queen with a crown
The sky is nothing but her gown
The clouds the garment that flows down
Praise the maiden as white as snow
Dance to the sisters of ancient cold grounds.” Skating ground, that was it.
“Are leaving like now?” Judith asked as she watched me run to the stairs. I stopped at the first step, my hands on the banister.
“Shouldn’t we? Aren’t you tired of all this thing? We need to get this over with so we can return to our normal lives if possible.” I ran up the stairs to get my coat. I was determine to get the third one today with it without them.

Found the third seal, Sage and I are heading there right now… Emy read the text message sent to her by Idalia. She was at the café with Chlorie, waiting for her order as he talked about something.
Should I come over? I can ditch him for tonight… She typed in as fast as she could and sent to Ida. A reply popped in not a minute late.
No, don’t bother, enjoy your date. Judith refused to come, says she rather remain in the house and not out there in the scary world, also didn’t want to miss the last episode of that stupid drama you both like seeing. We’ll fill you both in when we get back, but don’t stay out too late.
Alright, love you and be careful.
You too… Emy dropped her phone on the table only to look up to see a frowning Chlorie.
“Sorry, my sister sent me a text that she left to get emergency sanitary to…” She gasped and cupped her mouth like she accidentally spilled it out, to blow him off asking further questions. His frown curved into a big smile.
“Sanitary what?” He asked jokingly.
“Pretend I never said that.”
“So you have a sister? You never mentioned that to me.” Okay, the conversation was starting to head to where she was directing it from.
“Yeah, she always tells me about her whereabout, it’s an habit.” A little white lie wouldn’t hurt, Idalia was her sister if you look at it from her perspective, and Ida did love telling them her location.
Emerald was an only child, her father was a politician, a big one. As popular as he was, no one knew she was the biological daughter, that was the plan in other to protect her. She once had an older sister, way before she was born. But she was kidnapped and killed, part of the political war. So in order to protect her after her mother conceive her, she went to live with her old nanny. Once Emy became one, her mother returned to her father without her but always visited her at random time.
Emerald barely knew her father, she only got to talk to him through WhatsApp video and audio calls, but he sure loved his only child to madness, more than Emy even loved him. While her adopted cousin posed as the successor of her family wealth, every single thing was under her name and yet only her parents knew she was the same girl in a popular British girl group.
“How old is she?”
“A year younger.”
“How old are you?” He asked playfully. Emy pouted pettishly and stuck her tongue out to him. “Fine, then I won’t tell you that I think you are ninety nine.”
“I’ll have you know that I’m not even close to twenty-five,” she argued. He smiled cryptically, she had given him the a deer he needed. Chlorie sipped from his cup as he continued to watch her, he still couldn’t believe she was finally with him. He usually wasn’t a fan of girls who dyed their hair, and certainly despise green, but she was an exception; his forever only.
“Why do you keep looking at me like that? It’s been almost five minutes now.” Emy said uncomfortably.
“I don’t know, I just love staring at you, your beauty is captivating.” Emy rolled her eyes, playing indifferent.
The hair at the back of her neck suddenly stood up, a strange chill ran down her spine. Something was crawling on her back, someone was watching her. Emy looked over her shoulder, nothing seemed to be there but she could feel it.
“I told you to leave her alone,” she heard Chlorie said under his breath. Emy coughed, she was suddenly feeling out of breath, her heart was skipping beats too much. “Hey, are you okay?” Chlorie asked softly, scooting himself over to her.
“I…I… can’t breathe,” she gasped. She could hear soft whispers in her ears.
Die!
Her eyes w¡dened, she heard a female voice say that. Perplex, she was beyond confuse and disoriented. It all stopped as quickly as it started, her heartbeat slowed down as her breathing became at ease. She was still in shock, whatever had happen left her in complete shock. The pain all stopped, she realised her eyes were closed and someone was k-ssing her.
Chlorie, the guy had surprisingly k-ssed her. The clueless girl had no idea why, that certainly wasn’t her plan.
F-ck plan!… She thought and k-ssed him back, drowning into the warmth of his arms and softness of his tongue.
To her she wanted to enjoy it while it last, this was the only time a guy she liked k-ssed her, not one she was dating for fun. The k-ss was interrupted when a bang on their table reached their ears. Emy flinched but Chlorie kept her in his arms, reluctantly letting her l-ips go. He rolled his eyes to the intruder with a nonchalant look. Emy went crimson when she saw Adriana standing there with annoyance written allover her face.
“Adriana, what are you doing here?” Emy asked innocently, not sure why the girl was staring at her like that.
“So this is why you insulted my brother and left him, to snatch my boyfriend, huh?”
“Wait, what!” Emy’s eyes w¡dened, her head snapped to Chlorie, eyes staring at him with disbelief.
“I can’t believe it Chlorie, I showed you my friend’s picture and you go after her! How could you do this to me! I thought you had a small sense of respect for me!” Emy shifted away from him, it was happening again.
“Chlorie, is she telling the truth? Are you… But…”
“Ex, we broke up.” Chlorie replied unequivocally.
“You dumped me for my friend! Emy I won’t blame you, you had no idea so I’m going to tell it to you politely, stay the hell away from my boyfriend or I’ll murder you and blame it on the mysterious death!”
“I’m sorry,” Emy apologised shakily, her eyes welled up with tears. “I didn’t know, I’ll stay clear…”
“No you won’t, don’t listen to her,” Chlorie sighed, “we broke up months ago, even before you entered the picture but she still won’t let me be and insist we are dating. Emerald, do you think it’s fair? Don’t I deserve to date after breaking up with her nine months ago?” He asked, glaring at Adriana whose face was red from anger.
The scene was making Emy uncomfortable, fighting over a guy was definitely something she hadn’t and would never do. This was the part where she never saw him again. She picked up her bag and hurried out of the café, ignoring the his calls. Her feet moved with the wind, she ran so fast she didn’t even see the cars she was flying past. When she pulled herself to a stop, she was p-nting bending over her knees.
“Wow, what a rush.” She lifted her head to see where she was, she was shocked to see herself back at the house.
How did I… She thought.
Well, nothing was strange these days. Flinging her bag over her shoulder, she hurried to the door, but when she placed her hand on the knob, the door opened on it own.
“Judith, never really locked doors,” she huffed. Emerald pushed the door open and walked into the house, quickly shut the door and tried to find the switch. She found the flip but the electricity was out. “Great, light bill, didn’t Idalia pay already.” She grumbled. All she wanted was to throw herself on her bed and cry herself to sleep.
Emerald searched herself blindly for her purse, she couldn’t locate it. Then she remembered she dropped it on the table, which meant she forgot the phone at the café.
“F-ck! F-ck! F-ck!” She exclaimed, this was bad. She had no choice but to go borrow Judith’s and give herself a call so he would bring the phone to her.
Emy blindly tried to locate the staircase, moving her hands around to feel things and walking carefully. A door slammed, causing her to jump, hitting the lamp. A loud crash followed the fall of the lamp, her heart was thumping violently.
“What was that?” She mused, “Judith! Judith a little help here!” She shouted. There was a primitive hammering in her brain, an ominous nimbus spinning over her head. “Judith!” She shouted with a taut voice, something was wrong.
She found the staircase and made her way up it, muttering encouraging words to herself. When she reached the landing, she could hear a strange and sickening sound coming from upstairs, the tinkle of glass shærds and the whistle of the wind. She held her breath and took one more step, just then the lights went on. Emerald scre-med unwittingly, the sudden brightness scared the daylight out of her.
“God,” she cried. Her face had gone pale and hollowed with fear, and her hair which was disheveled from the k-ss gave her a haunted look. She gulped and gathered her courage, heading to Judith’s room. Judith got the room with the balcony because she loved looking at the stars, she was sure Judith would be stargazing by now.
However, what she saw when she entered the room drained her of the colours she had left in her. Her jaw sagged as a dry swallow echoed in the empty half destroyed room. The French windows which was connected to the balcony was destroyed, the glass shattered and spread out on the floor, walls and ripped out curtains. Splinters of woods and glass hung perilously from the broken wood frame and windowsills. The remnant of the shredded floral white curtain billowed in and out of the room from the missing window. The balcony had completely collapse.
“Oh my God! Judith!” She cried. Emy ran to the edge of the destruction, not minding the glasses and woods that found it way to her legs. She looked down to see, a frightened scre-m left her mouth.
What frightened her wasn’t the twisted body on the ground, the way it was twisted in a grotesque angle didn’t scare her, but what sat over the askew figure feeding from the body that made her scre-m. The beast looked up at her, it red eyes glowing. Judith’s blood sipped from it mouth to the ground, draining into the ground.
Emerald turned and ran, running straight to the open door. She ran into the foyer, just as she heard a loud thud, the beast was back into the house and coming for her. She scre-med, running down the stairs as the heavy paws thundered behind her. Emy tumbled over the banister as the house shook to it foundation, the beast collided with the wall. Ignoring the beating of her heart, the ringing in her ears, she stood up and leapt to the door.
The lights fell, woods fell almost crushing her. She made a U-turn to the kitchen, heading to the kitchen door. She opened the door and hurried out, breathing heavily as tears flooded her face. The door and wall burst out, the beast rushed out. One of the broken part of the door flew and hit her head. She fell on the ground, unable to move.
“Victoria! Victoria!” She scre-med in tears, there was nothing she could do.
The beast rushed to her, she closed her eyes and waited for the pain, nothing came. She heard a faint grunt, making her open her eyes. Her mouth dropped, Chlorie stood in front of her, pushing the beast back. His hands parted it mouth with power, separating it mouth and shielding her from danger. The force of the struggle broke the ground, causing it to crack and create a deep h0le.
“I’m warning you for the last time Quincy, stay…away…from…her!” The ground cracked further, splitting the earth towards her as he heaved the beast up by it mouth and whirled it in the air. “Get down Emerald!” He shouted. Emy ducked to the ground, shocked that he knew her name. Chlorie spun the beast in the air and hurled it far into the sky.
The beast roared as the force of gravity lifted it up high. “I love you sis, but I won’t let you hurt her, you’ll have to kill me first.” He said softly.
It was all too much for her poor heart to bear, too much for her to take in. She slumped down on ground, drowning into the depths of limbo. Chlorie walked over to her and scooped her into his arms. He looked down at her with affection, a small smile on his face.
“Like I promised you,” he raised his head and smiled at the spirit before him, the spirit of Victoria. “I have fulfiled my part of the deal, I give you a living version of your love and you help me.”
“I haven’t forgotten, the only way to destroy Cressida is to destroy the black cat she carries with her, kill Nightmare and you weaken her shield. The only problem is that the cat is always with her and can’t be killed by any except a living descendant of Cressida, but you are the only descendant and you are dead.”
“I will find a way, I have to find a way, I have to…” She trailed off with eyes of determination. “There is more than one way to kill a cat, and I will find that way, I always do. Go, she is coming back.”
“I will disappear from Willow Spring, to keep my love safe, tell her friends that.” Without waiting for a response, she zipped into the sky, taking Emerald along with him.
Victoria looked up at the sky with a smile, the answer to all her problem was here, now all she had to do was find a way to skin the cat.
“Arc, the time has come, find her.”
