Meanwhile at the Cave

Ojadike, kept on playing his flute, changing tunes that were pleasant to the hearings of Ikenga, who fought bravely. His blow to any of the warriors spirit makes them to quickly dissolved into sands.

The fight didn’t take long as expected of them, Ikenga had defeated the warriors of the Dead. They all rejoiced when they saw none of the warriors spirit of the dead.

As they were about to rushed in,side the cave, two figures, males, made themselves visible to them. The duo stopped as they stare at the new arrivals.

One of the two males was huge, so huge that even if Ojadike, Odum, Ikenga and Ikenna are combined together, they wouldn’t reach half of his. While the other one, a tiny one, hang around the neck of huge one, like a monkey hanging at the back of a tree, the younger male was laughing hysterics, he was full With hysteria as he look upon the intruders.

They are the warriors of the Ancient.

Earlier on

The five ancient spirits of the old began conjuring the spells that will wake up the warriors of Ancient. The duo usually fall asleep for a long time, at times two hundred, five hundred years will meet them still asleep, and when they eventually wake up, hell is let loose.
Those two had created an havoc once upon a time in the realm of the gods till all the gods and goddesses, including their father, Agwu, all came to their terms by each contributing their powers into them, but it came with a consequence, only a child of any gods could be able to hold them down.

Their powers can only be activated if they were summoned up for a fight, because of this, the gods learned to live in peace for years.

The fiery one and the five ancient spirits all watched as a great battle will soon unfold.

Chapter 13

Olanna greeted Nneoma, immediately she saw her carrying her udu/ water pot.
Nneoma was elated on seeing Olanna whom she hadn’t set her eyes in almost five moons. She immediately dropped the udu/ water pot and embraced Olanna.
“My very good friend, the early morning sun. The one whom the goddess had created on a very special day, the one and only Olanna, you are welcome”, Nneoma greeted Olanna.

Olanna a very beautiful, fair average height lady gave Nneoma a beautiful smile as Nneoma flatter her with praise. Beads of different shapes and size were embedded on her neck and head. One would have mistaken her for a princess. Olanna smiled sweetly. Nneoma quickly brought out two low stool and gesture Olanna to sit down on one, while she sat in the second one, forgotten the udu.
“Olanna, what a surprise visit, I never know you will be coming to my house today, I would have prepared you a good meal”, Nneoma said.

“My sister and friend, don’t mind me. I only wanted to surprise you, I even brought something for you”, Olanna said, presenting the clay plate she was holding. Nneoma quickly collected it and opened it to see fresh Udara.
“Ezigbo ezigbo enyi m, ị maara na anaghị m ọchị na udara, ekele m-My good friend, you know I don’t joke with udara, thank you. May Amadioha bless you”, Nneoma told Olanna grateful for the Udara.
“Where is Mama and your siblings?” Olanna asked cheerfully.
“They went to the market”, Nneoma responded.
“Oh, won’t you eat what I brought for you all the way from my village?” Olanna asked offened when she saw Nneoma placing the plate next to her, in the floor.

“Ahaha, ezigbo enyi m- My good friend, I only kept it so that by the time I have come back from the stream I will lick ooh”. Nneoma replied.
“Ekwetaghị m- I do not agree, at least eat one in my presence. I will feel bad if you don’t”,
“If it is what you want”, Nneoma said and picked one of the udara, opened it and lick it. Olanna smiled, congratulating herself on doing a neat work.
“Emm, I have to be going now, please see me off”, Olanna said immediately and stood to her feet, Nneoma stood up also, taking her udu and escorted Olanna, she will from there go to Nwagebe river.

Forest of the Living Dead
As the duo stare at the two people in front of them, Odum was the first to speak.
“We are here for the knife, we don’t want to fight”,
“Yes, allow us a free passage”, Ojadike said, agreeing on what Odum had said.
The little man laughed as he jumped down from his brother neck, “Too late, for we to allow you and your comrades pass, you will have to subdue us”.
“I see we have no choice then?”, Ikenna questioned.

“Yes”, the little man replied then turned to his brother, “Well?”
“Yes”,
“We have to be careful, they are stronger than they look”, Ojadike spoke out lowly
“Indeed, that is why I and Odum are going to fight them, Ikenna and You will have to venture into that cave and get the knife”, Ikenga said quietly, still high on the fight he fought earlier on.
They all agreed to what he said.
“I am taking the bigger one, you take the smaller one. Be careful with that one, don’t allow looks to deceive you”, Odum said to Ikenga. They ran almost together to meet them, the brothers also ran to them.
Ikenna and Ojadike quickly and quietly left the battle ground and entered the cage, only for them to see the five ancient spirits creatures blocking them.
They started fighting them two against five.

***********************
Meanwhile
Uzodinma, Ikemefuna and Prince Ebuka, had walked the length and breadth of the forest without arriving at the said cave.
“I thought you said, the cave is at the back of the forest. We have been walking up and down In this forest without a clue. Are you sure, you are even leading us to the right place?” Ikemefuna questioned Uzodinma suspiciously.
Before Uzodinma would answer, they had a loud noise as if a rock had fell down.
Ikemefuna with Ojadike quickly followed the direction where the sound came from, leaving Uzodinma behind.
When they got there, they were shocked to their bones when they saw Ikenna and Ojadike writhing in pains as they landed outside the cave, the five ancient spirits blocked the entrance. What even made them even more surprised was when they saw Odum and Ikenga, fighting bravely.

“Are we dreaming? Are these not our dead comrades we had lost in this forest of the dead?” Prince Ebuka was the first to speak. He was speechless.
“Something isn’t right here, but from the look of this, they are fight against those people not themselves”, Ikemefuna said, trying to grasp out what is really going on.
Ojadike and Ikenna heard the voice of Ikemefuna and Ebuka and they quickly stood up to their feet and ran to meet.
“Thank the gods you all made it here to help us”, Ojadike breathed out.
“Is this really you or are we now seeing your ghosts?” Prince Ebuka asked
“No this is the real us, no time for chit-chat, once we are done with those creatures blocking us from entering the cave. We are going to tell you how we had survived”, Ikenna concluded.
“You are right, to defeat them we have to use our strengths”, Ikemefuna told them.

“They are five and we are four, how do you expect us to win?” Prince Ebuka asked.
“Well, we are five now”, Uzodinma responded from where she had been all these while, watching everything, she went to meet them.
“Good, we are taking each one for yourselves. We must not let Amadioha down neither must we let Um-Igodo down”. Ikemefuna said encouraging them.
They quickly ran to meet the five ancient spirits.
Odum had quickly remembered what the ball of light had told him earlier on, as he ran up to meet the huge man. The Huge man, surprisingly enough was much flexible than him.
‘Hmm, there has too be a way to subdue them’
Odum thought to himself, as he fought bravely with the huge man, he saw something that looked like mark, a star under his neck.

‘It has to be it’
He swiftly flung himself up as his hand went straight into his lion skin cloth, bring out a substance and blowed it on the mark
The huge man, stood still, not moving.
Odum quickly went Over to where Ikenga is and did The same to the tiny man. The tiny man wasn’t expecting any movement from Odum when he was in the back of Ikenga, and so was caught unawares. Ikenga took firm hold of him and kept him beside his still brother and the duo ran to help the others. Odum giving some of the substance to Ikenga.

***************************
Nneoma had escorted Olanna and was on her way to Nwagebe river when she got to the bush path that lead to the stream and quickly throw out the udara she had taken in her mouth.
“Fool didn’t know who I am”,
Nneoma quickly fetched her water and left the river for her home.
