CHAPTER 81 & 82 … 🧡💛

Damien was searching for Mira everywhere in the hotel but there was no sign of her. He also ordered the guards to search for her too. He stood one place wondering where she could be when a guard came to him.

“Sir,someone said they lasted s₱0tted heading to the pool and ….” The guard didn’t complete the statement when Damien took to his heels heading to the swimming pool..

He stood staring around but no sign of her, he was about leaving when he s₱0tted something in the water.

“Please don’t be… Mira” he murmured to himself as he walked closer to the water. His suspicious were confirmed. It was Mira all right. Without thinking twice, he jumped into the water and brought her out the guards stood there waiting as he swam out with her.

“Call the doctor, immediately” he shouted and two left immediately while he laid Mira on the floor.

He felt her pulse first . It was so slight even her heartbeat couldn’t be heard Making him afraid.

“Mira” he called out as he did chest compress on her but no movement from her.

He immediately proceeded to do the next thing he had to do and that was CPR .

He immediately placed his l-ips on her and blew air into her mouth. He did it three more times and chest compression more and Mira coughed out water. Lots of water. His heartbeat slowed down in relief that she was okay.

“Sir, I’ve gotten the doctor” the guard announced and without any words, he carried Mira in his arms taking her in,side.

“She’ll be fine Mr Lockhart. You have already done most of the work. She just need some rest. And she will be fine” the doctor told him and he nodded.

” Have the flight cancelled” he said to his guards who nodded and left as the doctor completed the checkup on Mira and also left.

“Find out from the footage how she fell into the pool” he said to the remaining guards in there with him and they also nodded and left to carry out his command. Now he was all alone with Mira.

He stared at her lying unconscious on the bed. They were back in the hotel room. He paced up and down restless when looking occasionally at Mira.

“Layla , how dare you?” Kate yelled when she got to Layla table attracting attention to Herself.

“What do you mean by that? Do you go to people’s desk and start telling? ” Layla yelled back and Kate grabbed her anger and dragged her to the elevator. As soon as the elevator opened, she pulled her by the hair in,side the elevator.

“What do you think your doing? Are you trying to pull my hair from my scalp? ” Layla shouted.

” How could you send someone to kill Mira? ” Kate shouted back.

Layla eyes w¡dened Wondering how late found out but she immediately masked it up.

“I have no idea what your talking about” Layla snapped .

” I heard you on the phone. You told someone to push her into the pool cause she couldn’t swim? ” Kate said reducing her voice.

Yep, Layla knew Mira couldn’t swim. She knew from high school that she couldn’t swim because she had once pushed her into the school pool and she would have drowned if not for Jayden who saved her at the last minute.

But then, her cousin who stays in new Zealand and works with Damien hotel called her telling her how she saw Damien carrying a drunken Mira and that angered Layla to her core so she immediately told her to follow her and if she peradventure goes near a pool, then she should push her which she did. Then her cousin called to inform her that she had done it and Kate heard it.

“And so?” Layla finally said not remorseful at all.

“What if she dies?” Kate asked yelling again . She was losing her mind already.

“That’s exactly what I want ” Layla said with a smirk and attempted opening the elevator.

“I’ll tell me Damien or Ezekiel that you did this?” Kate immediately said and Layla halted.

” Are you threatening me? If dare do such, then be prepared to watch me drag you as my accomplice” Layla said pointing a finger at her

” Do you think your empty threats will scare me? You don’t scare me Layla. I’ll say the truth” Kate said with a smile and flung her hair in layla face before leaving the elevator.

Layla gritted her teeth in anger. She won’t allow Kate to expose her .

“You think I make empty threats?? Watch me Kate”

*. new Zealand.. one hour later*

Mira slowly opened her eyes as she gazed at the white ceiling. She wanted to move but someone hand was on hers.

She struggled and got up and immediately Damien took sat upright.

“God, thank God your okay” Damien said and immediately hugged Mira leaving her surprised. She could relief and happiness in his voice when he said that.

“Why do you sound so Happy?” Mira asked amused.

Damien stiffened and pulled out of the hug before clearing his throat.

” Don’t you know that Ezekiel will skin me alive if anything happens to you? ” He said casually and Mira chuckled.

” Oops… I didn’t”

” I’m glad your good. If your strong enough, we can start heading home” Damien said and Mira nodded.

He had already approximated when Mira will be okay and had told his guards to book another flight.

He helped Mira down from the bed and led her outside. Before entering his car, he instructed his five guards who came with him to stay and search for the culprit who pushed Mira into the pool. Of course he said this not to Mira’s hearing.

After that, he entered the car and drove off to the airport.

The landed in America after sixteen long hours . By that time it was already midnight in America. But he had to take her home.

They walked to the park where his car was parked. He already told the driver to leave so he entered and ignited the car before leaving the park

They were the only ones on the road as they drove on the highway. Although they were stopped by vigilante twice but they were allowed to pass anyway knowing who Damien is.

Throughout the drive, Damien noticed that Mira was so quiet. In her own world. Like she didn’t remember he was here with her. He didn’t like the silence so he thought of ways to start a conversation.

“Why are you so quiet today?” He asked her and she turned to face him.

” Am I? I didn’t notice. Thought you were angry at me? ” Mira said with a pout and Damien grinned inwardly.

” Yes I was. But am not anymore” he said. He had already forgotten that he was angry at her till now.

“Why were you mad at me?” She asked.
But he kept quiet for a while.

“Doesn’t matter” he said.

“It does” Mira whispered but he didn’t hear it.

Just then they heard grumbling. His eyes were to Mira and she also looked at him at the same time but he turned his gaze to the road.

“Was that your tummy?” He asked.

“Yes. I haven’t eaten anything since morning” she said with a gr-0aned

” Shit. I forgot. Let’s search for a place that I can get you food” he said as his mind started searching for places

” Nah. No need. I don’t think any restaurant will be open by now. It’s mid night” she immediately said but he shook his head

“There is one. It’s an all night restaurant” he said before taking a turn.

Soon he arrived at a restaurant ALL NIGHT FOODIES. Just like it’s name, they were still open in the middle of the night but no one was there except them.

Damien went to the drive thru and placed an order and so did Mira and he drove off. After driving for a while, he parked and they opened the pack and started eating.

Everything was going smoothly until Mira started laughing while looking at him.

“What’s funny?” He asked with a frown.

“Take it easy. You have grease all over your mouth. The food ain’t running” she said still laughing but Damien still frowned.

” Am really hungry okay. Just like you, I haven’t eaten too” he said ignoring and continued eating his lamb stake.

Mira was still chuckling but she took the tissue that came with the food pack and folded it before leaning in to wipe Damien l-ips. Damien literally froze on his seat as she continued wiping his l-ips.

“There. Now you can continue eating.. gently this time” she said with a big smile and Damien couldn’t help but smile back.

“Awwwn… You look so cute when you smile. You should smile more often” she said and he grinned like a child .

” Don’t let you head swell too much cause of that” Mira added and he frowned again. But Mira laughed it off.

Damien parked the car in front of Mira’s apartment and escorted her up the elevator.

Mira knocked on the door and waited for a while before it was opened by Anna. Mira didn’t know the password yet.

Anna opened it and s¢ræmed jumping on Mira.

“God I missed you girl” she said planting k-isses on her face. “Here has been so boring without you” she said and dragged Mira in. Damien stood at entrance about to leave.

“Where do you think your going?” Anna immediately asked and damien stopped when she took his hand and pulled him in,side before closing the door.

“I have to go Anna. It’s late” he said.

“The more reason why you can’t go. I can’t allow you drive on a lonely road . You can stay here for the night. We have a spare room” Anna said but Damien wanted to decline till Mira spoke up.

“She’s right. It’s dangerous to be out alone. Just for the night” she said with alittle plea and he nodded and smiled. Anna noticed it but kept quiet smiling. At least they’re getting along. That’s all that matters

He was too restless to sleep. Ever since, he laid on the bed, sleep flew from his eyes. He got down from the bed and went out of the room. Even though the lights were off and it was dark, he could still see where he was going because of the moon light passing through the window.

He went to the kitchen and drank water. While heading back, he stopped right in front of Mira’s room. He saw her entering the room earlier so he’s quite sure it’s her room.

He stood for some seconds doing nothing and was about to go when he heard a slight movement going on in,side.

He stopped and slowly opened the door trying to avoid the creaking sound. He entered fully and closed the door. Mira was hugging her pilliow. But she was about to fall off from the side. He quickly rushed to her and and push her in gently. He was about going when she held his shirt.

“Help me…” She mumbled in her sleep. He stared at her as she kept on whispering the word ‘help’, while holding his shirt tightly.

‘is she having a nightmare?’ he asked himself seeing her still saying the word
Her hand was literally shaking.

He bent down closer to her and sat down on the available space on the bed beside her.

“Mira…”, He whispered gently. “Don’t be scared am here”, Mira suddenly opened her eyes hearing that . Damien held his breath wondering if she was going to s¢ræm but rather she just shut her eyes back and went back to sleep.

He kept on stroking her hair till she relax . Getting up, he planned to leave when She sat up and hugged him tight.

“Please don’t go. Am scared…” She whispered..

” Thanks for dropping me off ” Sophie said getting down from the car.

” Anything for you babe” Lucas said smiling. ” Get well soon” he added and Sophie nodded. She went to his window side and pecked his l-ips before running away shyly. Lucas grinned and drove off.

As soon as she got to the porch of Mabel’s apartment, she came out of the shadows.

“What do you think your doing Sophie? Don’t tell me you have feelings for him?” Mari, her clan hang said.

” Gosh you scared me” Sophie said holding her chest before unlocking the door of the apartment and entering. Mari followed suit .

Sophie had the keys to Mabel’s apartment cause Mabel travelled to visit her daughter. Plus Sophie took a day off claiming sick. Although she was quite well.

“Don’t avoid my question” Mari said folding her arms . Sophie bit her l-ips.

” What if I do?” She muttered but mari heard it.

“You know that’s against the rules. Moreso, you fell in love with someone who is on the enemy side…what were you thinking?” She half yelled.

” Don’t tell at me” Sophie snapped and walked into the bedroom and Mari still followed.

” I hope you know sazuki won’t hesitate to kill you when hears of this ?” She asked and Sophie bit her l-ips. She knew the rules…no strings or feelings attached while on missions . It was a rule no one dared to disobey cause the punishment was death.

But she didn’t know how it happened. Ever since she stepped into the mansion,lucas eyes had been on her. At first he was suspecting her but she waved his suspicious away by becoming his friends. But the friend turned into something else. Something abominable.

Lucas took wouldn’t forgive her when he finds out that she works for sazuki and is only a spy sent to them.

“But you won’t tell him right?” She asked looking at Mari.

“Of course I won’t. Your my closest friend. But nothing is hidden from sazuki for too long. You have to handle it before it gets out of control” Mari advised and Sophie nodded.

‘ she’s right. I need to stop this before it’s too late’

“Now get some sleep. We will be going to the clan and be given new orders on what to do next against the Lockharts”

OKAY… SO WHAT IF MIRA ENDS UP WITH DAMIEN INSTEAD😁😏… COS THAT’S WHAT MY MIND IS TELLING ME TO DO..

one question answered: Sophie is the spy…

This book is gradually coming to an end… By chapter 90… We should be around the concluding part… I’ll try to answer all suspense questions by then😁
