CHAPTER 35

Alex walked home feeling so sad because of what Kim did to him. He walked to the hospital where Kim’s father was admitted.

He got to the ward and walked in to see Racheal chatting with her husband.

“Racheal,” Alex called and she rose her head to see Alex boiling in anger.

“What’s up?” She asked standing up and Alex looked at her husband.

“Hi, Alex.” He greeted and Alex smiled faintly.

“Hi, sir.” He said. Kim’s father, Peter noticed Alex wasn’t looking so happy and he was trying to keep his feelings.

“Are you okay?” He asked and Alex nodded smiling. Rachael walked up to him and they both walked out of the ward.

“what is going on?” She asked and he sighed.

“I am just back from the hospital where Landon is laid. I met with Kim and can you believe what she did?” He asked and she kept looking at him.

“What?” she asked.

“She slapped me. She f**king slapped me.” He said in a very angry tone and Racheal had the great urge to laugh.

“Are you laughing?” He asked in anger and she shook her head trying not to laugh.

“No, I am not. What happened? Why did you go there in the very first place?” She asked and Alex sighed.

“I thought she was the one that fell sick, so I wanted to say Hi. We ended up arguing and at the end, she slapped my face.” He said and she busted into laughter.

“Alex, I don’t know why I am saying this but believe me you deserved it. Why did you go there without letting me know? You know how much she hates seeing you around.” Rachael stated and Alex’s mouth fell open in shock.

“Are you saying that to me? Rachael.” Alex said in amusement.

“Alex, enough of this familiarity okay? You can see Peter if you want, but I won’t discuss Kim with you anymore. She has seen the person her heart yearns for, you should find yours too. She is happy, you should be happy too.” She replied and Alex scoffed nodding.

“Now I understand.” He said and Racheal smiled nodding.

Peter picked up Racheal’s phone, luckily for him, her phone was yet to lock. He went to her call logs and put a call across Kim.

For a minute, he doubted what Racheal told him about Kim being too busy to visit.

The phone rang and Kim picked it almost immediately.

“Mom, Landon said you called,” Kim stated and Peter smiled widely. He missed her voice so much.

“Baby girl.” He said and Kim’s eyes w¡dened and her mouth dropped open.

“Dad. How are you doing Dad?” she asked with tears of joy rolling down her eyes. She missed him so much too.

“I am not good. You are too busy to visit.” He said and Kim furrowed her brows.

“Too busy? I am never too busy for you Dad. Who told you that?” She asked and Peter sighed knowing his wife did it again.

“Your mother claimed to have called you, and she told me you are too busy to come to see me.” He explained and she looked at Landon.

“She didn’t talk to me Dad. She talked to Landon because I wasn’t with my phone when her call came in. Dad you know I would never say that. Why did she tell you that?” she muttered then she noticed the weird look on Landon’s face.

“What did she do this time?” Kim asked herself staring at Landon.

“Dad, can you give me few minutes? I need to talk to Landon.” She said and her father hung up the call.

She walked closer to Landon who shut his eyes after hearing her last statement.

“Landon, what did my mother tell you? Please don’t lie to me. That is the worse thing you can do to me right now.” She said and he sighed. He opened his eyes and looked straight into her eyes.

“When she called, she told me she wanted to ask you for some amount of money because of your Dad’s treatment. That is all, and I decided to help.” He said and she sighed bowing her head.

“My father just called me, and he didn’t tell me he needs any treatment or anything. He is very okay, I don’t know why she is like this. Did you send it to her?” She asked and Landon nodded.

She wanted to speak up again but Landon stopped her.

“It’s fine. I just did it, not as I fell for it anyway. She sounded so happy when she heard me so I knew she was lying.” He said and Kim rolled her eyes. She was so angry.

“then why did you give it to her? And how much did you send to her?” She asked.

“Kim I just wanted to help. I am going soon anyway, I won’t be taking the money along with me so it’s nothing.” He said and she sighed.

“How much is it?” she asked and Landon shook his head.

“you don’t expect me to tell you that Kim.” He said and before he knew it, Kim reached for his phone and began to search it.

“What are you doing?” Landon asked.

“I need to know how much you sent to her. She has to return it.” Kim said in anger and Landon shook his head calling her name.

“Kim!” he called but she refused to listen.

“Kim!” he called again but she still kept mute.

“Kim!!” He called the last time, in a louder voice and this made Kim shake. She looked at him and she could see tears in his eyes.

“Landon, why are you crying?” She asked in a shaky voice.

“Kim, don’t you get it? I have few days to live!! I didn’t give people the way I should when I was okay and now I am privileged, please let me do this. I don’t want to care If she lied or not, I am happy I could give.” He said and tears rolled down Kim’s eyes.

She nodded shutting her eyes, she couldn’t take seeing him that fragile.

Suddenly, the door of the ward opened and Sara walked in disrupting the emotional atmosphere.

“Landon, how are you?” she asked in tears approaching him.

“I am good.” He said trying to smile.

“no, you are not. The doctor told me what is going on.” Sara said in tears and Kim fell to her knees. She couldn’t withstand it.

“I can’t wait for tomorrow anymore. I need to do this now.” She thought standing up and running out of the ward.

She ran down to the doctor’s office and knocked on the door. She opened it and met the doctor talking to another patient.

“Miss Kimberly, can you please wait till I am done?” he asked and she shook her head in tears.

“Please, you need to give him the second Kidney now. I can’t take it anymore, I need it in him now.” She said admits tears.

“We would come back, doctor.” The patients said walking out of the office.

“Miss Kim, we can’t rush things like this. I said you should come tomorrow so we could think about this well.” He explained.

“I already thought about it Doctor, can’t we perform the surgery now? I am so ready.” She said and the doctor nodded.

“We can.” He said and Kim was so scared. She had never had surgery in her life since she was given birth.

“Let us go now.” She said walking out the ward. She pulled out her phone and put a call across to her father.

“Hey, Dad.” She said after he picked up.

“Hey, Kim. Can you come to visit now?” He asked and she shook her head cleaning her tears.

“Dad, I will come to see you tomorrow okay? I love you so much.” She said in a shaky voice and her father noticed.

“What is going on Kim?” he asked and she hung up the call.

“I am sorry dad.” She mumbled following the doctor.

CHAPTER 36

Peter stood up in haste, he knew something was wrong. He felt pain at the side of his belly but he didn’t stop.

He walked to the door of the ward and met Racheal walking in.

“Peter, why did you get up! What is going on?” Rachael asked in shock, she held his hand and wanted to pull him back but he dragged his hand from hers.

“I need to see Kimberly now.” He said and Racheal furrowed her brows.

“Why do you want to see her? I told you she is busy. You know what, why don’t you go back to the bed and I will put a call across to her.” Rachel said calmly.

“So you can do what you do best?” He asked in anger and Racheal was confused.

“What do I do best? What are you talking about Peter?” She asked.

“You lied to me about Kim being busy, and you are still lying to my face again. You didn’t talk to her, did you?” he asked and she nodded.

“of course I did.” She said and Peter sighed feeling so angry.

“You are making me hate you more. Rachael, I wasn’t expecting this from you.” He said and moved her away from the way.

He walked out of the ward holding the side of the tummy in pain. He walked to the exit and people watched him as he did.

“Sir.” He heard someone call from behind and he turned to see the doctor approaching him.

“I need to see Kim.” He said looking at the exit.

“Baby you are not yet strong. You shouldn’t be out of bed now.” Rachael said but he ignored her.

“never you call me baby again. You don’t have the right to call me that.” He said opening the door and walking out before the doctor could reach him.

He made sure he had Racheal’s phone with him because he needed to get through Kim. He was yet to know where she was.

He called her number again as he walked down the street and noticed he wasn’t followed by the hospital anymore.

It rang and rang but she didn’t pick up. What is she going to do? Kim doesn’t do something stupid.

He searched through the phone again and then he saw a number which was saved with Landon Hernandez.

He decided to dial the number and after it rang for some minutes, he picked up the phone.

“Landon?” Peter asked and Landon creased his brows.

“Who am I speaking with please?” Landon asked and Peter felt a little happy he was able to talk to Someone close to Kim.

“Hi, this is Peter, Kim’s Father.” He said and Landon’s mouth fell apart slightly.

“Oh, Good day sir,” Landon responded.

“Good day Landon, I am so sorry to disturb but I have been trying to reach Kim but it isn’t going through. Is she there with you? You can tell me your house address and I will come over.” Peter said and Landon sighed.

“Sir, I am not at home Sir. We are in the hospital, and Kim is not here presently but when she is back I would let her know you called.” Landon stated and Peter’s eyes w¡dened.

“In the hospital? Is she okay? She didn’t sound too well when we talked. She is alright?” he asked worriedly.

“she is fine sir, she isn’t the one ill. I am the one ill, but you don’t have to worry. Once she is back, I would call her.” Landon uttered.

“What is the name of the hospital, please? I need to see my daughter.” He said and Landon nodded looking at his mom.

“Kingsmith hospital.” He said and Peter nodded.

“I will be there soon.” He said and hung up the call. He saw a taxi approach and he waved it down.

“Kingsmith hospital.” He told the driver as he opened the back door and sat.

“Kim has been gone for hours. Where did she go?” Landon asked himself aloud to his mother’s hearing.

“Maybe she went home or something,” Sara responded and Landon shook his head.

“she would have said something if that was the case. She just left without saying a word. I hope she is okay.” He said looking worried.

“You like her.” Sara started and Landon nodded.

“I can’t deny that anymore mother. I don’t like her, I love her.” He said and Sara smiled with tears in her eyes.

“She loves you too, I know she does.” She said and Landon smiled.

“How are you so sure she does? She hates to admit it.” Landon said and Sara smiled bowing her head.

“She has proved it already,” Sara said. She didn’t want to come out plain to Landon yet. Not after she was done with the surgery.

“You must be shocked how she got to know… the doctor told her what was going on. He also warned her not to say a word to Landon.”

“Proved It? In what way?” Landon asked feeling so confused.

“You will know soon my son.” She said and he shook his head.

“No mother. I have few days to live, you don’t have to keep anything from me now.” He said and Sara smiled.

“You have years to live Landon. You are not dying.” She said and before Landon could say anything the door opened and Peter came in.

“Landon?” He called and both of them turned to look at him.

“I am Peter. I am here to see Kimberly.” He said and Sara stood up immediately.

“Can we talk outside please?” Sara asked and Landon furrowed his brows.

“What is going on Mother?” Landon asked but she shook her head and smiled walking out of the ward with Peter.

“Hi, I am Landon’s mother.” She said and he nodded.

“Okay, what of Kimberly? Did she leave already?” He asked and Sara breathed out loud.

“No, she is in the O.R.,” She said and Peter’s mouth dropped open.

“What is my daughter doing in the operating room?” He asked trying to stay calm.

“I am so sorry Mr. Peter, but she is undergoing surgery presently.” She said and tears gathered in his eyes.

“What? Surgery? What for?” He asked in a shaky voice.

“Sir please can we just sit down and talk?” Sara asked and He shook his head.

“No! I can’t. Tell me what is going on with my Kimberly.” He said and Sara bowed her head.

“She loves my son so much, that she decided to gift him one of her kidneys.” She said.

“What?” Peter asked In shock.

“I am so sorry. The life of my son lies on it, he has less than seven days to live.” Sara said admits tears.

“So my daughter is putting her life at risk? No! I can’t take that! Let them stop now!” He yelled and almost immediately, the surgeon came out of the operating room.

“How is she?” Peter asked running to him.

“I am…” He said and before he could finish, Peter fell to the ground and went unconscious.
