CHAPTER SEVENTEEN:

From behind we heard his voice interrupt, “Hello, Elise.”

Flo and I stared at each other, “he didn’t hear us, did he?”she whispered.

“I don’t think so.” I looked at him, faking a smile. “Hi, Dion.”

“Hi,” Flo forced herself to spit the word out.

“Where have you been since?” I asked.

“At home. Thought I needed some rest.”

“That took a week, you know. ”

” Yeah, I know. Felt that was necessary.”

“Wow, that was a nice choice?”

He looked around, like he was searching for someone. ” Looking for someone? ”

“Yeah, yes. Where’s Lora? I haven’t seen her since. ”

” Well, Lora is not feeling too well so she’s in the hospital. ”

” What hospital? ” He asked.

And I don’t know if I’m to lie or not or, I’ll just have to fake the wh0le thing that I don’t know what hospital she is.

Maybe, that’s just a quick lie. Something more of, “Got a call from her mom saying that she was admitted earlier this morning. I haven’t visited her, but Flo and I thought of doing that tonight. ”

” You can join us if you want. ”

” No, I’ll meet her parents after school. ”

” That’ll be great. ” Honestly, that’s definitely not a great idea.

Today ran so fast. Flo and I drove to the hospital to meet Lora. Luckily, her parents weren’t around, that’ll be just us.

“Did Dion visit you?” I asked, curious.

“Yeah, this afternoon with mom. Did he say he was coming?”

“Yeah, we told him we don’t know the hospital you were admitted to, so he suggested that he’d ask your mom. ”

She sighed, looking to the window. ” What is it? ”

” He was here last night. ”

” What?! “I exclaimed.

” You said what?!! “Flo yelled.

“But I acted like I was deep in sleep. Even though he knew I wasn’t, I didn’t wake up. ”

” Why did he come? ”

” I don’t know. I really don’t know. He couldn’t even say a thing this afternoon, maybe that’s because mom was with us. I’m already scared of him, he’s freaking creeping me out. ”

” He might visit tonight too. “I guessed.

” I know. The doctor said that today is gonna be my last day, I’ll be discharged tomorrow morning. ”

” Who knows what he’s up to tonight. I have to spend the night with you, Lora. ”

” Do you think that’s a good idea? ” She questioned.

” Yep, as far as I’m with you, it definitely is. Lora can go home, I’m totally fine with the hospital’s scent. ”

” Thank you. ”

” Don’t thank me, I’m doing this because I don’t wanna lose you. You might be annoying, but at least not now. ”

We laughed for a brief moment. We spent more time together, discussing about both Dionne and things contradictory to him.

There, I told them about my dreams, even though I didn’t have to… Not yet.
I thought they’d doubt me this time but they didn’t, instead it gave Flo the courage to spend her night with Lora.

I drove back home. Stopping at the garage, I rested my head on the steering.
I hoped Lora and Floris will be fine.

I got out of my car, I noticed a car park across my home. It looked familiar like that of my principal’s.
I stood, still glaring at the car to prove to myself that I wasn’t wrong.

“Miss Maria,” I flinched at the voice.

“Do you have to do that?” I said, my hand on my chest. ” What are you doing here? ”

” We need to talk. ” He said.

I looked at him, I wanted to be sure that he was joking, but he wasn’t. “Fine, what do you want us to talk about?”

“He’s coming for her, ”

” I know. But there’s nothing I can do.”

” He’s going to make sure your dream about Lora comes to reality. ”

” What does that mean? “I asked, confused.

” He wants he dead or either way, a lycan just like him. ”

” He won’t, because I won’t let that happen. He rather take me instead, I’m willing to offer myself to him but I will not sit and watch him hurt my friend. ”

” Do you have any idea what it means when he owns your blood? ”

” I don’t care, okay. Right now, I care about my friend. He’s gonna visit her tonight, and I don’t know what he’s gonna do to both Lora and Floris. ”

He became quiet, listening but said nothing. ” You knew this would happen, don’t you? From the start, you knew Dionne was gonna hurt Lora. ”

” Even if I told you, what would you do? Save her? Tell her sweet things to stop her from hanging out with him that night? ”

” Both. I don’t know why, Mr Noméd, but my conscience keeps telling me that you know something about Dionne more than anyone. Something that keeps hunting you. ”

He grew calm again, I made two steps close to him. ” What is it that you know about him?” I made another step, “Tell me.”

He still said nothing but I didn’t stop from asking him. ” You don’t wanna hide it from me, why then do you force yourself to? Tell me what it is.” I said, making another step, just an inch gap separated us.

“Miss Maria, I bet you don’t wanna know what it is.”

” Are you scared I’m gonna get hurt if you tell me?”

” No. “He said, moving two steps backwards. ” I just feel like it’s not necessary to tell you. For now, it’s none of your business. ”

I smirked. ” I’ll take that as a fact that you really are concerned about me. “I adjusted his jacket, ” well, thanks for the chat, it was really helpful. Good night. ”

I left him, walking into my house. I took a deep breath, as I shut the door close.

~ Lora ~

The sound of the elevator halted, I didn’t want anyone to tell me who it was that was coming.

I tapped Flo by the hand, she was muttering this sleepy words that I always hate.
She’s definitely difficult to wake when it comes to emergency.

“Flo, wake up. He’s here.”

“Who’s here.” she woke up, her eyes staring around.

“Dionne. I heard the sound of the elevator downstairs. He’s probably heading towards here.”

” So, what are we gonna do?”

” We act like we’re still asleep. All you’ve got to do is to listen, and if he thinks about doing something crazy on me, grab whatever close to you and get his brain destroyed.”

” Give me your hand.” She held my left hand, ” that’s incase he thinks of taking you away.”

I nodded my head. The elevator open and close, Flo held me tight, nodding.

“Nothing is gonna happen, okay? No one is taking you away from me.”

I nodded.

” Now let’s get back to sleep.” I laid back down, while Flo rested her head, beside my hand.

The door to my ward open, I tried pulling myself together. Although my heart was still beating so fast, I guess it wasn’t that much to be heard downstairs.

He sat beside me, rubbing my hair. “Lora, it’s me Dionne.”

“Lora, I know you can hear me, please open your eyes. I need to tell you something.”

He touched my right hand, rubbing it against his. “I wanna tell you something I couldn’t tell you this afternoon.”

I slowly open my eyes, pretending to be searching the room. When I looked at him, I acted like I just saw a ghost.

“You…” I cursed, “what are you doing here? Get out!” I pointed at the door. ” Get out of here!”

” Lora, please listen to me.”

“There’s nothing to listen about. You’re a demon, a liar and a cheat. I know I shouldn’t have trusted you at the first place, I was a fool to think you’re an angel. Dionne, I don’t wanna hate you, please leave me alone.”

” I’m sorry for hurting you.” He apologized.

” I don’t need your sorry, and thankfully I’m getting better, so take your sorry with you. I don’t need it!”

” Lora…”

” Dionne?”

He looked away, then back at me. “I didn’t mean to feed on you, it was an accident.”

” Was it? You know what I do think? I think you forgot to have your dinner so you had it on me. But you also know what, it’s totally not your fault. I was the one being so pushy around you.”

” Now, you’ve seen how okay I am, can you now leave? I wanna sleep.”

” You don’t have to push me away, Lora, I still love you.”

” No you don’t. You just want to keep feeding on me.”

His face frowned, ” I get it. I’m gonna come back for you and no matter how hærd you push me away from your life, I’ll still come back. You belong to me. You’re mine already… Forever. Whether you like it or not.”

He left.

For a moment, I couldn’t hear the beat of my heart. Even as Flo talk to me, my ears were deaf to what she was saying.

His words still echoing in my ears. “You’re mine already… Forever. Whether you like it or not.”

~ Elise’s POV ~

Brrrriiinnngg!!!

First bell was rung for the biology class. The lesson was slow but quite interesting.
The door swung open, with a charming smile in her face, she entered into the class.

“Good morning, ma’am.” She greeted, heading towards my direction.

“Never thought you’d start today.”I said like a whisper.

“I can’t keep missing you guys and those time we shared together. So, any gist for me? ”

” That will do during lunchtime. ”

” Owk. ”

Second period and that was PH. E period. While the baseball practice was going on, I sighted Miss Martin discussing with the principal.

“Hey, what are you looking at?” Lora asked with a tap on my shoulder.

“Nowhere.” I lied. “What’s it?”

“Nothing. I just wanted to check if you were actually watching the match. ”

” Yes, of course that’s what I am watching. ”

” Okay. ”

I looked at their direction, but they weren’t there anymore. “I’m going to the rest room.”

“Try not to sleep there. “Flo said.

” Ha ha, very funny. ” I quickly left the baseball hall, walking through the quiet hallway.

I first went to Miss Martin’s office but they weren’t there. I went to Mr Noméd’s office… same. So, I went outside and there I saw the two of them enter his car, zooming off.
