Episode Thirty Five
Michael was setting the dinning table, when he was through he waited for some minutes for the others to come but no one came, he went to the bottom of the stairs.
“Food is ready!!!!!” He scre-med, few minutes later they all came down stairs looking bright and lively “What took you guys so long???, were you sleeping because you don’t look sleepy to me” He said.
“Good Morning” They all chorused.
“Not really, but we all woke up late and you woke up hours before us” Alexa said.
“So guys, I present to you Boiled yam and fried eggs” Michael said and they all lifted the covers on their on their plates.
“Wow!!!!” They are chorused.
“Wow!! godfather you are the best, it so delicious” Ashley said as they all tasted the food.
“Seriously!!! Ashley’s right” Adrian and Alexa said the same time.
“Michael, you the best, please don’t ever leave me” George said and they all laughed and began to eat.
After few minutes, they were through with eating and the doing the dishes, Michael went to his room and after sometimes came to meet the other watching a cartoon.
“Are you going somewhere???” George asked and the kids looked at their godfather who was dressed up.
“Yeah, going out with TJ, I want him to show me more places so I can get acquitted with this place, and when we will be going for sightseeing, we won’t be needing him” Michael explained.
“Yeah, you are right, because am sure he has his own work to do and the better we get to know this place the easier for us” Alexa said.
“godfather be careful and come back early” Ashley said.
“Yes ma’am” Michael answered “My tablet is at home, you guess can use it but please make sure you charge it, when the battery gets low” He said.
“Okay” the kids chorused, TJ entered the house.
“Good morning” TJ greeted.
“Good morning” They all responded. Michael and TJ went out of the house and drove out of the compound, after few minutes of driving, the car stopped, TJ came down, while Michael took the driver seat.
“Let’s meet at the restaurant when am through” Michael said to TJ who was standing beside the car looking at Michael.
“OK, have a safe drive” TJ said and with that flagged down a taxi which drove off after he had entered, Michael took his phone and checked what Williams sent to him, he smiled a little and started the car. After few minutes of driving, he became confused, he stopped the car, stepped down he looked around and saw some group of people, he was walking up to them and when he finally got to them, he was fascinated by what was going on, so he stopped and watched.
“Where is that stupid bitch, where is that stupid drop out that dares beat up one of my boys” A young boy who was obviously the leader of four more boys who stood behind him as his bodyguards, Michael wondered if they were not supposed to be in the university \ college. The boy was shouting towards other group who was opposite him, this other group were largely made up of girls.
“Guess this is what is called ghetto” Michael thought, as he sat on a wood that was beside him.
“Jerro, what do you want again, why are you disturbing our peace” A girl with red artificial hair spoke referring to the guy who spoke first.
“Call that bitch out, Oh she is scared now, scared chicken” Jerro said and his group laughed that it much infuriated the other group and suddenly someone shouted.
“Who is she????!!!!!” A girl shouted with all vigor.
“She is Rebecca!!!!!!” Every one in the other group shouted, Jerro and his group were looking.
“Who the hell is she????!!!!” Another girl shouted again and this time they began to stand on opposite sides, leaving space in their middle, they were separating as if they were in a parade, Michael looked on.
“sʜᴇ ɪs ʀᴇʙᴇᴄᴄᴀ ʙᴜᴛ ʙᴇᴄᴄᴀ, ᴛʜᴇ ϙᴜᴇᴇɴ ᴏғ ᴛʜᴇ sᴛʀᴇᴇᴛ ᴀɴᴅ sʜᴇ ʀᴜʟᴇs ᴛʜᴇ ᴅᴀᴍɴ sᴛʀᴇᴇᴛ!!!” They all scre-med, and just then at the end of the line was sitted someone who was covered in a black overrall which also had a hoodie that covered her face, she was sitted like a spoilt princess, she stood up, on her legs were old and tore sneakers. She walked towards the boys group, Michael was so fascinated that he stoop up. The girl got to where Jerro and his gang were standing and she pulled off her overall, Michael’s eyes w¡den and his mouth opened as standing some distance away from him was a girl, so beautiful and had a daring expression.
“She is Becca!!!” The girl yelled again.
“You have heard them goats, get lost” Becca said to Jerro who doesn’t even looked perturbed, Michael managed to regain himself, as he stared at Becca.
“And will I???” Jerro asked rudely and spat on Becca.
“OK then” Becca said angrily and within few minutes Becca was only the one standing she had beaten both Jerro and his gangs.
“Becca!!!!!” Her gangs were shouting and hailing her even Michael was too unknowingly, he stopped and laughed at himself, as he looked towards Becca’s direction, she was walking somehow, Michael ran up to her and was in time because if he had waited she would have fallen to the ground. He held her in his hands, looking at her face, her eyes were shut, by now he was surrounded with the gang.
“Thank you, so much sir, oooooh Becca not again…… What are we going to do????” These were the words he heard.
“Take her to the hospital” Michael said.
“But…..” A girl said, Michael looked up and saw their sad faces, he knew they had no money.
“OK, someone or two should follow me, I will give you guys a lift” Michael said and they nodded.
“I will go, we will be back soon, dismiss” A girl said and the others left after thanking Michael. Michael carried her into his car, when they were settle in,side the car, he drove to a hospital, Becca was taken to the ward while Michael went to pay for the charges.
“How is she??” Michael asked as he stepped into the ward, Becca was asleep while her friend was beside her.
“She will be fine, that’s what the doctor said” the girl replied with sadness laced in her voice.
“Oook, I have to go, bye” Michael said and was about to leave.
“Sir, please don’t insist please drop your phone number so that we can reach you to thank you when she wakes up please” The girl said pleading that Michael had no option than to write his number down, before going, he counted a good amount of money and gave it to the girl who knelt down thanking him.
“Thank You Sir” The girl who was still on her knees said.
“Oooh seriously! C’mon get up” Michael said and walked over the girl and pulled her up. “Hmm mm… Mmmmmm please I don’t know if you know this place” Michael said showing the girl the address on his phone, the girl nodded and describe it to him in a way he understood “Thanks” he said and walked out of the hospital, entered into his car and drove off.

Getting to a big house, Michael stood at the gate, he knocked for a while, after few minutes a young boy funnily dressed in a uniform came opened the gate and looked at Michael from head to toe.
“Good afternoon” Michael greeted as it was already in the afternoon because he had gone shopping with TJ, while the latter had told him to meet up at a restaurant when he Michael was through visiting who he wanted to visit.
“Good afternoon” They boy said trying to fake an accent because he noticed Michael’s.
“Am asking after Olayemi Veronica” Michael said.
“That be my madam, who you be ???”The guy asked, Michael hesitated.
“Just wanna see her or tell her to come check who is at the gate” Michael said not wanting to divulge his identity.
“Sorry I can’t……” As the guy was saying and elder man called.
“John, who is there???” The elderly man said coming closer.
“Baba, it is one person that is…..” As John was talking the elder man gasped when he saw Michael, John stopped talking as the elderly man was behaving strangely, John was pushed away, Michael was ushered in by the man.
“Every body come ooo!!!!” The man shouted, Michael just stood where the old man left him, in the middle of the big compound, looking at the compound, it is very beautiful, with two cars.
“What…..” A woman came out but stopped talking on seeing Michael, a boy and two ladies came out too, they had shocked expressions, Michael and John was wondering what was going on.
“Oh my!!! Sir Michael!!!” A lady squealed.
“Wait??? This is the man Madam do tell us about???, the one on the Internet!??” John asked bewildered.
“No ooo, the one on the roof” The woman replied with sarcasm.
“Come” the man held Michael and led him in,side the house, as he stepped his foot into the house, the first thing he saw were his pictures hung beautifully around including his mother’s.
“Wondering how we got to know you, well Madam do talk about you alot” The man said as Michael sat down.
“We never knew you did come soon, your mother went out but she will soon be back” Another lady said.
“We are all happy to see you and have you here, what will you like to eat??? Sir” The woman said.
“First, thanks alot for welcoming me, second please cut the sir thing and just call me Michael and third, thanks alot about the food but I am not hungry” Michael said politely and they all nodded and left him in,side the house. He went into her kitchen and started to cook, he spent more time in cooking because he had trouble in looking for somethings, he set the table when he heard a car horn. Waiting patiently after putting off the light, he sat down in the dinning room which was immediately after the palour.
A figure entered and closed her door, the figure sighed.
“Why is this place dark???” A feminine voice asked herself, before she put in the light, she sniffed the air, perceiving a different fragrance, she became alerted “Hey, I know there is someone here but if you don’t talk now, I will kill you, don’t underestimate a young lady” She threatened, as she moved towards the switch, she wondered how the intruder got pass everyone in the house, she finally put the light on and saw that her table was set, and in her chair that has its back towards her was a person sitting on it, she was staring at the person back.
“Young lady????, C’mon Veronica you are almost fifty!!!” Michael exclaimed, still not turning to face his Mom.
“Who are you???” She asked and Michael stood up, turned to his Mom, Her bag dropped, her heels could no longer hold her shaking feets, she put them off, ran to her Son and hugged him tightly crying.
“Shhh, C’mon Mum, it’s okay, stop crying, please stop crying” Michael said patting his crying mother “Mum ,C’mon stop crying, or I will cry too” he said.
“OK Ademi, I will stop crying” She said as she slowly disengage from her son. She pulled off her jacket, they both sat down.
“So, first Mom where are you coming from????, you have to be more careful” Michael said as he started to eat his mother joined too.
“Oooh” She blushed, Michael looked at his Mom suspiciously “Oooh, it’s nothing” She said finally.
“Wow!!! I know that look, you are dating someone Nica” Michael said, his mom looked at him “Ooh, I mean Mom” He added quickly.
“No, am actually surprised because you call me just like him…… Oh forget I said that, you can call me by my name, I guess that what you guys do in abroad and it kinda interesting here, no matter what you call me, it sound great in your mouth” Veronica said and avoided her son’s eyes.
“You are surely in love with someone, I got you, spill it already” Michael said happily.
“I will tell you son but not now, and yes I like someone but the situation is complicated” Veronica said sadly “But let’s leave that aside, am so happy you are here, but how come?? What happened??? You never told me beforehand, and finally Ademi are you married????” she asked.
“Hmmmm” the last question got Michael that he almost choked, his mother looked at him shaking her head.
“I will so kill you, if you ignore these questions and yes please slow down a bit” Veronica said eating a spoonful of her meal.
“Okay, am gonna tell you” Michael said smiling.
“That so sad, and I am happy you didn’t accept her back, don’t worry, you will find someone else better than her” Veronica said as they were already sitting in the parlor, they had finish eating and had sat down in the palour when Michael finished his narration “Your godchildren are funny and I am also grateful you got yourself a friend and brother” She said with sadness in her face but covered it with a smile, Michael saw and pulled his mom in a hug, she was beside him.
“It is not your fault Mom, I know it and thank goodness Philip is out of our lives, am glad to be your only child don’t wanna share you with anyone, that guy you are seeing has to even win me over which is always difficult” Michael said, his mom pulled out from the hug and hit him playingfully, laughing.
“You are not serious” She said laughing, Michael smiled that his mother is happy, they spent few minutes talking, gisting and laughing.
“Mom, I gotta go, I will come around soon” He said as he stood up and walked out with his mother, outside the compound was where he pack the car, he peaked it mother’s forehead, enter into the car and drove off with Veronica waving at him, after the car left her sight, she walked into her compound smiling brightly.
