Episode Thirty Nine
A car halted in the front of a very big building, Veronica came down from her car, she was putting on a simple gown, her natural hair is wavy, she had on her feet a black scandal which matches her golden gown. She was holding her bag and a polythene bag, she walked to the building, she entered.
“Hmmm… I pray a kind person answers me today” She prayed silently, this building is a prison used to house convicts. As she sat down looking around, a woman in a wander uniform came over to her.
“Good day Ma, how may I help you??” The wander asked.
“Good day, I am here to see Mr Olujimi Oyinlola” Veronica said.
“OK, follow me” She said and Veronica stood up and followed her, they got to a area which was well ventilated and had a good deal of sunlight “Sit here, I will call him here and Ma, take your time” The wander said and smiled.
“Oh, Thank you so much, I appreciate” Veronica said, dip here hand into her bag, brought out some money and gave the wander after much insisting on Veronica’s part. The wander went away and after few minutes, a man walked to Veronica, he stood on the s₱0t looking at Veronica who was also looking at him.
“Good day Jimmy” Veronica said and hugged him, he also wrapped his hands around her.
“Hi Nica” He said and the both of them sat down opposite each other. “I missed you so much love” The man said, Veronica blushed.
“Same here, I bought your favourite” She said and set the table in front of the man, she opened the food, it was fried garnished eggs with yams, when he saw it, his smile faded off, Veronica saw it and sighed “Am really sorry” Veronica said and bowed her head.
“I should be the one to be sorry, am really sorry to have remember what has happened since some years ago, I know it must be hærd for you, am so sorry dear” Jimi said as he stood up and sat beside Veronica, hugged her.
“No problem, I know it is not easy to forget the woman you loved and even your child, but all will be well” She said and they both disengage.
“So, how have you been???” He asked smiling at her as he began to eat.
“Well, I have been good, guess what???” Veronica said happily,he looked at her happy face and smiled.
“Nica, you know I don’t like guessing and I am not good at it” He said as he was still staring at her.
“C’mon Jimi, just guess” She said pouting like a child, Jimi looked at her and laughed.
“OK, that you wanna peck me here” He said as he touched his l-ips, Veronica looked at him laughing and hits him playfully.
“You are really bad at guessing silly” Veronica said laughing as she hits him playfully on his arm.
“Well, tell me already love” He said as he was still eating.
“My son is back!!!!” She yelled.
“Oh my!!!, am happy for you dear, say me well to him and hopefully I hope to see him one day” Jimi said smiling.
“Thanks” She said and took the cutlery from him and began to feed him.
“You know I love you right?” He said.
“Ofcourse, I do and l love you too” She said.
“I want you to have this” Jimi said giving her a necklace and bracelet “I would have given you much earlier while we were both in the prison but I have to be sure, actually these were meant for my late wife and unborn female child but too sad I lost them in the accident, so I want you to have it, so incase I have to die in prison or I don’t ever get to be a free man, I want you to have them as yours” Jimi said, as he tries to put them on Veronica, she declined.
“Jimi, I can’t have these, they were meant for your family and I don’t want to take these away from them” She said.
“Awwwnn” He said placing his hand on his chest, Veronica smiled, he often behaves like a child.
“Seriously, remind me, how old you are?” She said laughing.
“Well, just Forty Nine”
“Just??!! Seriously old man, you keep acting like a child”
“Am a baby to you right??” He said laughing and making face funny faces which got Veronica laughing.
“Seriously!!! Living all your life in abroad has kill your Nigeria manners and awareness so bad” She said amidst laughter.
“But seriously I want you to have them, am really serious about it, please” He pleaded, he put the necklace and bracelet around her neck and wrist respectively.
“They are pretty” Veronica said smiling.
“Yup, brought any book when coming???” Jimi asked.
“Ofcourse, I did, after knowing you are a book freak” She said as he deep her hands into her bag and brought out a book which she handed over to him, he took it gladly after hugging her.
“Thanks, you gotta feed me you know that” He said as he opened his mouth waiting to be feed my the woman he found love with while they were both imprisoned, he smiled as he remembered the times they spent in the prison together, she became so close to him that it made him comforted after been drowned in the sorrow of losing his wife and his unborn child. He ate the food she placed in his mouth.
“Can’t believe a man who is almost fifty behaving like a teenager” Veronica said rolling her eyes.
“Seriously!! To much of American movies right, but make sure they don’t fall off” He said and Veronica smiled. She continued to feed him, talk, laugh and also ate with him.

Alexa stepped into the class after going to see both Adrian and Ashley who were doing good, it was break. She stepped into the class and found a girl who was sitting next to her, the girl looks unhappy.
“Hi” Alexa said smiling the girl looked at her blankly and after some minutes, she smiled as well. “Why are you sitting here alone??? Isn’t it lonely here???” She asked but, she didn’t receive any reply only a smile from the girl. The girl wrote something down and passed it to her.
“I don’t really have friends, but I am fine here alone but won’t mind becoming our friend” Alexa reads and smiled.
“OK, no problem, but are you mute??” Alexa asked as she brought out her lunch bag, opened it and was preparing to eat.
“No, am not, am a stammer and I find it difficult to communicate to people verbally” She writes, Alexa reads.
“Oooh, don’t worry you can talk to me” Alexa said smiling, “What’s your name??”
I…. I…… I….. I….. A.. Mmmmm…… Aaaaaaliiiiyaaaaaaaahhhhhhh Baaaaaaaaaaddddddddmmmmmmuuuussssssssss” She stammered sadly and bent her head, for someminutes, Alexa could not talk, but soon she started to laugh.
“Oooh, my goodness!!! You got a nice voice Aliyah Badmus” Alexa said as she stopped laughing, Aliyah shoot up her head and smiled.
“Thanks” Aliyah said smoothly.
“I know why the stammering seems bad, it’s because you are afraid when talking, don’t be scared and you will improve” Alexa said.
“Rrrrreallly” Aliyah said.
“Ofcourse” Alexa said as she covered her food and they both got up and went to the cafeteria, alot if students were there, eating, talking and so on. They both sat down.
“Thanks Xendria” Aliyah said without stammering, she was surprised they she gasped.
“See, told ya” Alexa said and she stood up went to buy a drink each for them.
“Lexa!!” Two voices called, both Aliyah and Alexa tilted their head to where they heard the voice and behold walking up to them were both Roland and Nicholas.
“Hi Seniors” Alexa said as they both sat down, Roland sat beside Alexa whlie Nicholas sat beside Aliyah who had her head bent.
“Hope we aren’t disturbing anything” Nicholas said as Roland called a junior to bring their orders, who obeyed promptly.
“Ofcourse not” Alexa answered with a smile, the Junior dropped the orders on the table, they thank him before he left. Both boys looked at Aliyah who had her head bent.
“Hello” Nicholas said as both Alexa and Roland looked at him.
“Guess, she is shy!!” Roland said and they all laughed.
“Or our faces are to handsome to stare at, awwwnnnn” Nicholas said as he placed his hands dramatically on his chest feigning been hurt, they all laughed, including Aliyah whose face was up.
“I… I……. I….. I… Ammmmmmmm nnnnnoooot shhhhhhhyyy” Aliyah stammered sadly.
“Jeez, girl calm down aren’t biting you, relax and talk OK” Roland said smiling at Aliyah.
“I.. I am not shy” Aliyah said without stammering.
“See, that’s it” Nicholas said and pat Aliyah who was very happy.
“Told ya!” Alexa said happily and hit Aliyah playfully, just then Aliyah began to jerk, she fell down, shaking and began to convulse. The three stood up, everyone one became alerted.
“Get me a spoon and an handkerchief now!!!” Nicholas scre-med as he bent besides Aliyah patting her slowly, Alexa was crying, while Roland rushed to get the things Nicholas asked for and gave it to him. “Get the phone and call the health center now!!!” He scre-med, this time Alexa ran to where the telephone was looked beside her and saw some numbers, she saw that of the health center and called quickly, with shaking hands and body.
“Yes……. Someone needs you here….. It’s an emergency!!!” She said with a raised voice and placed the telephone back went to where Nicholas was, Aliyah’s jerking has reduced, crowd could not form because the two boys shouted angrily to anyone who tries to form a crowd. Soon the ambulance came, they took Aliyah away with Nicholas following her. Alexa was so shaken that she was crying, Roland hugged her and was patting her.
“It’s alright, it not your fault, I know you are thinking because you hit her, Aliyah has been like that, that’s was why she never had a friend, since four weeks she resumed to the school, so stop crying” Roland said patting Alexa, everyone has gone back to his or her business.
“I wanna call someone right now” She said and disengage from Roland and went to the telephone, Roland was behind her. She called and said with her shaking voice
“Hello”…..

Both Michael and George’s office were on the top floor of the building, the office was side by side. When it was lunch break for the company, Michael went to get snacks for the both of them, he entered George’s office to still see him operating the laptop.
“Hey” Michael greeted.
“Oh, hey! Lunch break already” George said and Michael nodded, he sat down in front of George who has pushed his laptop beside him and had collected the snacks Michael brought “Am still surprised that the Company could not fully recognize us but am happy they didn’t” he said eating.
“Same here, am happy too, we won’t be have enemies anytime soon here” Michael replied.
“Michael, I am really sorry about what I did in the past, am sorry” George apologized sadly.
“It’s fine, everybody makes mistakes but I want you to know that, I can’t and I won’t do anything to harm you” Michael said smiling.
“I hope staying in this country, didn’t triggered any past memories???” George said slowly, Michael’s smile faded, his mind flashed back to the past but George tapped him.
“Don’t think about the past anymore, it’s fine now” Goerge said flashing Michael a very beautiful smile, Michael looks at him suspiciously and looked back to make sure no one was there smiling at George who looks ridiculous smiling like a kid.
“Stop smiling, you look ridiculous right now” Michael said smiling “For a moment, I thought you were smiling at a girl” He said laughing because George had an horror expression on his face.
“Jeez!! So she would marry me and later we will give brith to three and then one morning, she will be jailed for trying to destroy me and the companies” George said, Michael laughed.
“C’mon stop it, all woman are not like that” Michael said smiling sheepishly, George looked at him this time with his head bent to a side.
“Hmm.. Is that a’in love look’ you gotta be kidding me, Micky you are…..” George was saying when Michael cut in.
“Shut up, jeez! Stop over thinking things, and stop saying rubbish seriously, What the jeez!!” Michael said laughing, George too was laughing.
“Am so happy with your Mom, who twisted your tongue from ‘what the f-ck’ to ‘ What the jeez!!!’ It sounds funny” George said laughing, Michael too was smiling “Am sorry to have mentioned your Mom too” He said.
“Why??” Michael asked but he immediately covered it up with laughter because he had forgotten, he hadn’t told George and the kids about his mother “it’s fine, no biggie” he said smiling, just then Goerge’s phone rang, he furrowed his brows. “What’s up” Michael asked but George raised up the phone and showed Michael who saw it was an unknown caller “pick it and place it on speaker” Michael said, George nodded and did it.
“Hello” the voice said shaking.
“Alexa??!!!” The two men said surprised.
“What’s happened???” They both asked when they heard her sniffing and sobbing, Alexa narrated the incident that happened in the cafeteria.
“Oh c’mon sweetheart, it wasn’t your fault, be calm OK, you said she is your friend right, then love her and take care of her, so she won’t be sad or left alone” George said.
“Okay Dad” Alexa said.
“Just be calm baby, stop crying, it wasn’t your fault OK” Michael said.
“OK godfather and we all like it here” She said and the men were relived because they could feel she was smiling.
“That’s my baby” George said laughing.
“OK bye, I love you both” She said.
“We love you too” They both said and hung up. They both talked for some minutes and when the lunch break was over, Michael went back to his office.

Becca sat down, eating after doing some menial works, she had taken her bath and had retired for the day, she was on the bed, she had been waiting for Michael’s call since when they parted but he hasn’t called her, she had set up her social media accounts, presently she was on WhatsApp chatting with some people she had met when working.
“Maybe, he forgot about me???, maybe he was busy, Maybe he doesn’t have airtime, Maybe….. Ugh!!!!!” She sat frustrated as she dropped her spoon. She searched for his name on her contact list and saw only one of his number, she saw that he has an account with the number.
“Ohh my goodness!!!!, he is online!!!” She scre-med happily “Should I chat him up or not, should I???? Should I not?????” She said asking herself, as she was contemplating, her phone buzzed, she opened it and saw a message from Michael, she checked and scre-med.

Becca: **”Yeah, thanks, let’s know each other”**

Becca:**”Rebecca, you can call me Becca”**
Michael:**”You mean, Queen Becca that rules the damn street!!!”**
Becca:***”Lolz, seriously what about yours”**
Michael:**”just call me Michael”**
Becca: **”Best colour???”***
Michael:**”Seriously, black”**

Michael:**” No problem, she left me, or should I say dumped”**

They chatted for some minutes more,each smiling over either when typing or waiting for the other person’s reply. They bidded themselves goodbye and promised to talk to each other later and regularly.
