A LONG WALK TO NOTHING Episode 32

After talking to Alexia on the phone, Liam is so unsettled in his office just thinking about what Donald wants from her, he knows that Alexia loves him now but he doesn’t know if her love for him is strong enough to resist Donald and his lies, after all they have two children together….. What if Alexia decides to hold everything back for the sake of the children and go back…… All these running through his head and he feels he’s going to run mad, he checks his watch and it’s coming to midday, grabs his car keys and he’s made up his mind, he’s going home to her with or without Donald there, just as he’s about to walk away, someone pushes open the door without knocking, he looks up and sees those beautiful Long legs in those blue tight Jean shorts, it’s Cecilia smiling all the way to Church

“Good morning my big Man” she makes her entrance and Liam just stares at her, he sits down

“What do you want Cecilia” he asks with his eyes fixed on her

“It’s been long, aren’t you happy to see me”

“What do you want”

“To talk to you”

“Talk to me? Do we even have something to talk about huh!”

“A lot my Darling…. So many things” she leaves her chair and walks to the window, his eyes follow her

“I have been thinking Mr Liam Peters……. Now that things are moving, why don’t we take this to the next level” Liam gets up and follows her

“I don’t know what you mean by next level but there has never been something between us, not even friendsh¡p so we have nothing to push to the next level”

“What if I tell you I’m so ready to do away with Donald”

“It’s your choice, after all it’s what you’re good at” she turns and wants to hold him but he doesn’t let her

“Donald and Alexia are going to work their heads around their own mess after all they have been a family for twenty years….i love you Liam, let’s make this work”

“Make what work you devil” he’s mad at her now

“I’m ready to change for you Liam, I’m so ready to leave Donald and start all over with you as a changed person now”

“Whether you wish to change or not my dear, is up to you….but you can’t have me, I’m a very satisfied man in love with the best woman”

“You have a girlfriend?” She asks shocked but before Liam can say something, the door opens again, it’s Alexia…. But she stands shocked as she sees Liam and Cecilia standing inches apart from each other

“Babe” Liam calls and walks to her, he k-sses her to Cecilia’s surprise but Alexia doesn’t respond to the k-ss

“Hey! What is she doing here” she asks Liam

“I don’t know my love it’s not even important” Liam answers and Cecilia now recovers from her shock, she walks over to them

“You two are…”

“Yes Cecilia, she’s the woman I love” Liam cuts her short and holds Alexia’s hand more firmly

“Alexia how could you”

“Excuse me!”

“You knew he k-ssed me, he professed his love for me not long ago, you witnessed it and….”

“And I what? You Jezebel from the pits of hell……what’s your problem, I don’t care if Liam here confessed his love for you, I don’t care if he k-ssed you after all you were able to grab a man who has been married for twenty years with children”

“Soooo it’s payback huh! This is all because I stole your man huh!”

“That doesn’t count anymore, I am with the man I love and who loves me back now….you can keep Donald forever”

“Never!….You hear me, NEVER ” Cecilia gets aggressive and wants to hit Alexia but she’s quick, she dodges the slap and Liam gets in the middle, Cecilia begins to cry now

“Liam please look at me, see me properly, what do I lack? I have a great body, a successful career and I’m a woman you can proudly enlarge your territory with”

“You know what the problem with you is Cecilia, you think everyone wants you…you think you’re everyone’s favourite… It’s only in your head”

“So…..you’re saying”

“I am saying I love Alexia…. I love her in this body and beyond, I don’t know what brought you here in the first place but I’m sick and tired of you already” she cleans her tears and laughs in a sarcastic way

“You two think you’re smart huh!” She asks

“What is that supposed to mean” Liam asks and Cecilia still laughs

“You Alexia, you are painting Donald and I as the devils when you’re the real she devils…..you connived with this man in the name of fitness training when you two have been s-cking faces and banging each other”

“What difference does it make…think what ever you want and it’s OK with me” Alexia says to her and Liam has had enough

“Please leave….Cecilia, that’s the door” Cecilia stands and looks at the two for a long time and grabs her bag before storming out…once the door is closed, Liam turns to Alexia who has moved away from him

“Babe…I’m sorry for what happened” he says and moves to her, he tries to k-ss her but she moves her face away

“Did you k-ss her again?” She asks him feeling all jealous and Liam smiles at her

“Did you?”

“Does she look like you?” He asks her and moves to her and holds her hands and this time she doesn’t protest. He k-sses her softly

“Look at you my baby! You know that I love you and I can only cheat when there is two of you so please don’t doubt my love for you….I don’t have eyes for another….only you my sweetheart” he gets playful with her and she ends up laughing

“I love you” she says and k-sses him….

Richærd is busy on his desk making a few calls on Donald’s behalf, all of a sudden Donald walks in and heads straight to his office, Richærd ends the call prematurely and follows him….he gets there at the same time with Donald

“Donald, you decided to come” there is no response but he doesn’t give up

“I didn’t know you were coming back soon, when we met it looked like you weren’t even coming back…I was willing to fill in for you the entire day”

“Oh shut up Whitey….you talk too much” Donald hits his desk and there is silence

“Woooooo! What’s with that temper…wanna share it?” Richærd sits down as he asks this but Donald looks like he doesn’t even want to talk to him

“Is it about Cecilia? Are you two fighting” he asks and this question finally has Donald look up

“Do you think I made a mistake?”

“No one can answer you that….it’s only you who can”

“To be honest, I don’t know…Cecilia has changed completely”

“She has changed or she has gone back to who she is?…..well are you two fighting”

“Cecilia wants to be the man in our relationsh¡p…. Can you imagine she competes with me as far as house chores are concerned…. I no longer eat from home because she doesn’t even cook….she calls our home a jungle”

“If you ask me Donald, I have no words to say to you as far as Cecilia is concerned, I never met her the first time she you know…..she left, but when I got to know her not long ago, I thought to myself which sane man would want to go for a woman like her, forget about other things but her character s-cks….she’s totally a NO for me but you know, love is blind they say and when it comes to the issue of two people and their hearts involved, only they themselves can help themselves”

“I think I know what to do”

“What are you going to do”

“I want my wife back…..I want Alexia back” Donald doesn’t seem to settle down as he repeats the same words all of a sudden

“You want Alexia back?” He asks not believing it the first time

“I want her back”

“Okeeeey! So you finally couldn’t contain it and let it all out? You finally accepted that indeed you made a mistake…. I don’t want to say this but I told you…..I said it, I told you that you were leaving the most wonderful woman you could have your entire life because of something that won’t last…, i might be in support of you wanting out of that relationsh¡p with Cecilia but I will definitely not allow you to go and mess Alexia’s peace now that she has someone who loves her madly….. you want to come again with your confused love, it’s not possible, just forget it”

“Wait! I don’t just get you…..Richærd” Donald poses and looks at Richærd

“So it’s all true?”

“All true what?”

“It’s truly the instructor… And you knew about it? You two timing hypocrite, you act as my friend”

“Calm down, first of all I don’t act as your friend Donald, I am your Friend even if you fail to see it…..but you should agree with me, you wanted to be a teenager in love, I warned you, I told you family is everything….you left without considering how your wife would feel, what if she couldn’t survive the heartbreak and died”

“You don’t just get the damn point Richærd and you’re talking nonsense….. The point here is, you’re supposed to be my Friend, my wife has a boyfriend and the boyfriend is someone you know and not only that…. You know about the ugly affair too but what do you do, you paint me as the black sheep and work undercover to campaign for that bastard”

“He has a name and he’s my friend but Wait Donald, are we on the same page?”

“Of course we are not you White ass bastard…..”

“Then I’m not discussing this with you” he wants to walk out but Donald gets up, he runs after him and holds him by the shoulder

“Let go of me” Richærd tries to resist and he turns but in the process, Donald hits him in the eye, Richærd let out a scre-m, he staggers in pain and he falls hærd on the floor, in frustration for hurting his Friend, he turns to the wall and hits it as he cries, slowly Richærd gets up still with his hands covering his eyes as he also cries

“You disgusting animal…. You’ll never have her back” he storms out as Donald this time kicks the Wall and slams on the floor…..

Alexia who is having the time of her life after coming back from dropping off Glow at Liam’s office…she’s watching some rom-ntic comedy in her living room but she’s interrupted by a knock, she looks towards the door and freezes…she has actually developed some fear especially now that Donald shows up any time he wants…..she has instructed the gateman not to allow him in but it’s also his house and he can choose to bulge in on her unannounced anytime…..she reluctantly walks to the door and stops

“Who is it” she asks just to be sure

“Mum it’s me”

“Eddy” she opens the door with excitement but her smile turns to a shock and a frown when she sees her son holding her hand, she looks at them and doesn’t know what to say

“Isabel” she calls shocked

“Hello Mum Ale” Isabel fearfully greets her but Alexia shifts her eyes on her son, Eddy ignores her moods and walks with Isabel still holding in to her hand in,side

“Where is my sister” he asks

“She’s with Glow at Liam’s”

“That’s good”

“What’s going on” Alexia asks following them behind

“Mum please sit….we are here so we can talk” Eddy says

“I see” she sits far from them and picks her remote, she increases the volume but Eddy gets up from where he’s sitting and walks to his mother, he takes the remote and sits down with her holding her hands

“Mum this is important…we are here and you can’t ignore us”

“What is she doing in my house” she asks

“We have something to tell you Mum”

“I’m listening” Eddy looks at Isabel who is scared to death and nods to assure her that he’ll do it then he turns to his Mum

“Well Isabel and I are seeing each other officially and I thought I should let you know” he says at one breath

“For how long has it been going on?….I mean pretending to support your mother’s relationsh¡p with Liam just to have your way with the niece of my number one enemy” her temperature is rising and Eddy shakes his head

“Mum please listen”

“Don’t ask me to listen Edmond…. You talk like you don’t know what I’ve been through”

“That’s why I’m asking you to listen….. Let’s talk”

“The Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree huh! Like father like son, what do you two see in that family? Were you cursed or what?…. Just when I thought I’ve had enough of your father’s madness then you come with a high degree”

“Listen please Mum, you’re saying too many things…… first of all I’m not Dad and Isabel is not Cecilia”

“Oh yes you are not….. your Donald’s son and she’s Cecilia’s niece….I can never have anything to do with her family, never, you hear me, take her back to where you got her from”

“Mum please, I love her and she loves me too….she’s not like her aunty…but you just don’t want to listen”

“Let me even ask you Eddy, what do you even need a girlfriend for? I hope you’re not having s€×” she turns sharply

“What else would I need a girlfriend for mum, definitely not for marriage”

“So you two have done it? Hmm incredible”

“I didn’t say that but please at least try and reason like Dad Liam”

“Wait! Liam….he…”

“I needed to talk to a Male figure and he was the only one available, he’s a good man and understood that I love Isabel and she loves me too…at least he listened when I talked”

“We will see about Liam” Alexia stands up and walks to Isabel…. she looks at the poor thing and the girl looks down all scared to death

“If you know what’s good for you you’ll do as I say”

“I’m sorry Mum” she trembles as she says sorry

“You’re sorry? You are on a high mission to destroy my only son’s life and all you say is you’re sorry?…. LEAVE my house this minute before I do something to you that I so much want to do on your aunty…who sent you, why are you after my family, why are you ravaging my family”

“MOM STOP” Eddy scre-ms and Alexia stops she turns to her son and Isabel is now crying

“You will not punish this girl for her Aunty’s sins, I won’t let you do it” he walks to where his mother is standing

“Don’t make me do to you what I did to Dad…. I can survive without the two of you in my life”

“W.h.a.t did you just say?”

“I said I’m leaving and if my girlfriend is not allowed in here then we can work our way out there” he pushes past his mother and stretches his hand for Isabel

“Babe let’s go” she doesn’t want to but he grabs her by force and pulls her out as she runs after him….Alexia shakes her head not believing the family has done it again, but that’s now not the issue, the issue is her own boyfriend, the one who is supposed to be on her side always is aware and doesn’t do anything about it…she paces up and down in her house and then picks her phone to call Liam, he’s going to have it raw with her this hot afternoon

Liam is in his office, he’s been rare in the office for the longest time because his mind is all occupied by Alexia now…. and now the office is a mess, he has to org-nize it so he turns off his phone, he pours a glass of water and just as he’s about to gulp it, the glass had just touched his l-ips then the door opens, he looks up and literally jumps out of his skin and then stands up instantly

“Donald” he calls surprised

“Such a Nice place you have here huh!” Donald says as he leans against the door

“I was wondering why women drool over you boy and now I don’t have to wonder any more”

“What do you want” Liam calmly asks Donald

“I can see you’re surprised but don’t worry I got you hahahaha that’s how thieves look especially when they have stolen something from you”Donald now makes his grand entrance and he sits down

“What can I do for you” Liam asks

“I came here so I can look you in the eyes as you tell me Why you decided to come between me and my wife…why are you this wicked man, why do this to a brother?”

“Excuse me”

“No…I can’t excuse you Mr instructor”

“Liam….I have a name please” he says

“Of course you do have a name…..how much will it take for you to leave my wife for me” Donald asks

“You don’t have a wife with all due respect Donald…..if you do have a wife she maybe someone else I haven’t heard of or even met because I have a girlfriend and she is single”

“The nerve you have!….hahahaha but don’t worry boy, by the time I’m done with you and turn to leave this office, you’ll be singing a different Melody” Liam gets up and starts to walk out of the room but Donald gets right up after him following

“You can not run away Mr…. You have a price and I’m willing to pay you double the amount so let’s talk business, HOW MUCH?” Liam stops and walks back to his desk

“Look around this room, satisfy your eyes, and estimate how much it would cost to put a wonderful and beautiful office in,side a building used as a fitness training center….. when you’re done, walk out and don’t worry because I’ll be right behind you, outside there, forget about the wh0le building but take a look around this wh0le setting with all that’s in it….attach the local restaurant adjacent to it and tell me…how much would it be if all is put together, when you do that get back to me and we can talk business” Donald is a little confused with what Liam is saying

“You think you’re smart huh!” He asks

“No though I don’t also deny that fact that I’m smart….but what I’m saying is, I can put this wh0le place up on sale for you, you can purchase it all plus the restaurant, I can sell it in just a blink of an eye if that’s what it takes for you to leave my office right this minute…. but I can never, you hear me NEVER trade the love I feel for Alexia for any material thing….I can’t….I’m so sorry but I can’t do it” Donald laughs sarcastically

“Now you’re being a woman, both you and I know that you don’t even mean it….just tell me how much” he gets out his checkbook and now Liam gets mad he stands up, he slams his fist on his table

“GET OUT”” he says in a very polite way

“I’m sorry, not until you tell me to my face right here right now that you’ll leave my wife…..my wife of twenty long years, I’m warning you now because you don’t have a choice but to do it”

“Mr Donald or whatever you call yourself, you can not eat your cake and have it,….your wife of twenty long years you say, hahahahaha you amuse me, what happened to the love you and Cecilia have for each other huh…..Alexia is now mine and mine alone, I don’t care if you two have dozens of children or not but she’s now my woman”

“She’ll drop you….She’ll drop you soon because she’s gonna realize you were just nothing but a destruction….. A consolation she needed when she was all alone”

“You’re shameless” Liam says and this gets Donald boiling, he sends a blow to Liam’s direction and he catches it mid air, now it’s Liam’s turn, he grabs Donald and pulls him to himself, he turns him around and makes him face the wall as he pins his arms behind, his other elbow sits on Donald’s neck and he makes him move forward until they get to the wall, he supports Donald’s right cheek on the cold wall and doesn’t let go of his neck still

“Let go of me you animal” Donald says but he pins him more painfully

“This is for hurting the woman I love and also for hitting my brother”

“I didn’t hit your brother you disgusting animal”

“One more word from you and I’ll break your neck….you hit Richærd and you think I don’t know about it”

“Oh so the woman in him actually ran to you with the news?”

“He told me, and you’re very lucky I didn’t break your eyes….if I didn’t, It is so you can see another man, a real one loving your woman the best way she deserves” this one gets to Donald more than the first so he tries to release himself but he is no match for Liam, he sounds like he wants to cry and Liam leaves him….Donald gulps for air as Liam walks back to his seat…

“Now about your wife, I didn’t steal your woman, I only took her away from you….I gave her what you couldn’t give her, I gave her My time, my company, my ears when she wanted to vent her pain to someone, I gave her my shoulders when she needed to lean on someone and in the process you became her last worry, the more you hurt her, the closer you brought her to my arms, now I have her and I can kill for her” he gets up and walks out of his office slamming the door in Donald’s face….his guts is something Donald never saw….but he’s not giving up just yet, there has to be something he can do to separate them….he walks to his desk and finds files all piled up, he fl¡ps from one page to another and doesn’t find anything… He’s about to give up when he s₱0ts an envelope addressed to Liam Peters, he picks it up and it looks like something that Liam hasn’t opened, he opens and reads through the first paragraph and then smiles before laughing out loud….
