“Good morning ma”Peter greeted Diana,he was the one that woke her up.

He had begged her to go in,side last night and sleep after many hours of waiting for David but she refused and he had no choice but to keep watch of her even until she fell asleep.

He simply went in,side his room and took out his blanket which he used to cover her, while he sat down and watched over her, he couldn’t remember when he dozed off sitted on his chair beside the corridor with his back rested on the railing and his head bent forward.

His neck will hurt for days if he’s lucky if not he’s sure he will be on it for weeks.

Diana was kinda surprised she slept outside on the small couch on the corridor,she didn’t know when sleep took hold of her,she can’t even find her phone.

“Sweet morning dear,how’s your night?”she asked him yawning.

“Fine ma”he replied ignoring his brain’s trick telling him to tell her how bad it was,not getting enough sleep and having a hurting neck is not what a fine night should do to anyone.

“Did you see my phone?”she asked still looking around her.

“No, maybe you are sitting on it”he suggested she should stand up and see if it’s on the couch.

She stood up and found it,she was sitted on it while she searched for it.

Peter grinned sheepishly.

She went through her phone to see if anyone called her last night, when she must have slept off, there’s no other call except the one Tricia called again to confirm that she called Harry and three other colleagues of David and they all said they know nothing about his sudden disappearance.

Just as she stood up to go in,side,her phone ringed,she picked it up immediately before she saw who the caller is.

“Good morning Mom!”she greeted Maggie.

“Baby girl hope you are doing fine?”Maggie’s sad tone is noticable.

“Am okay Mom, did you get any news?”

“No,did you?”

“No Mom,did Tricia?…”

“I don’t think so, she’s right here with me”Maggie said looking over at Tricia.

Tricia made to take the phone but she moved away from her fast enough to escape her grip.

“Alright Mom,my regards to her,I will call you later”

“We… I mean, I and Tricia… would you like us to come over and…..”

“Oh no Mom.. don’t worry I will be fine, really”

“Ahm… alright,bye then”

“Yeah… thanks Mom,bye!”

Diana went in,side and fell limbly on the floor,tears ran down her cheeks.

“David where are you?”she sobbed.

*At David’s office*

“Good morning sir!”Emily greeted and took a file with her as she followed David who walked into his office without voicing out a single word from his mouth or even glanced her way.

“Good morning sir?!”Emily greeted again with the feeling that he mustn’t have heard her at first.

“What’s so good about this morning that you so much want to talk about !”David snapped hitting his desk with all his might.

The table shook violently and many files went flying.

Emily was too shocked that she shivered,the file she’s holding fell off and she picked it at once.

“S..sorry s..sir…I…just…”her voice trailed off,she is too shaky to put words together to form an understandable sentence.

She bowed slightly and turned to leave not knowing what to say or do as his eyes where too hot to withstand.

“Cancel every schedule for today and reschedule for next week,if any of them refuses to accept,kick their ass,get lost!”David ordered, his eyes still on her.

Emily nodded and walked out closing the door behind her.

David turned and slapped the wall,he placed his forehead on it and screeched his teeth.
Just then,his phone vibrated.

He slumped to his seat and took the phone from in,side his drawal where it had been since yesterday.

It’s a text message from Harry.He read:

“Hey man,what’s up with you?,why getting us all worried?,I have the feeling you are alright, please if you see this text, reply…am waiting!”

David deleted the message and went through his phone.Diana.Countless texts, voice notes, emails,missed calls.

Too several for him to go through,he simply allowed the phone slip off and fell with a thud on the table.

He knew there would be more from Harry,his sister and his mother.What would he tell them?.

That he went to a hotel to meet a supposed client only to find out the opposite.

He feels so filthy right now.

His head still hurts from the too many quantities of whiskey that he consumed.

He had come to his office instead of his house because he knew this is the only place he will command that he wants to be left alone and of course it will be granted.

If he should go home,Diana will want an explanation of his whereabouts which he wouldn’t muster up a courage to lie though she might understand.

It’s better he stays here and thinks carefully of what to do,his head must have been clear by then,he will then go home and face reality.

He feels stupid and his wh0le body feels like they don’t actually belong to him .

He knew before now how worried Diana must be,he took his phone and stuffed into his pocket,he grabbed his car keys and bounced off.

“You know I can’t let you be alone baby”Tricia said walking past Diana to keep her bag on the table,Nadia placed her hands on Diana’s shoulders and murmured reassuring words to her.

“I told you guys not to worry,am fine”Diana said heaving a sigh of relief anyways,as they sat down.

“I know,that’s why we are here”Tricia said going to seat beside them.

“You can’t be here if you believe am alright”Diana said forcing a smile.

Tricia is that kind of friend that will put you in trouble at a burial ceremony.
“How did you know Nadia?”she asked looking at Nadia’s face.

“Well,she called”She replied referring to Tricia.

“There’s no cause for alarm,but am glad you guys are here”

“What are friends for?”Tricia stated flatly.

“A friend in need is a friend indeed huh!”Tricia chuckled.

“Hope you have eaten?”Nadia asked further.

Diana simply shrugged her shoulders,they looked at each other and dragged her with them to the kitchen.

“Hope Mom is not too worried ?”Diana asked them.

“Mmm…she’s okay,but you know mothers when their child is involved”Tricia offered loosing her bright face.

“Well, I believe David is fine, he’s probably caught up with something”Nadia said searching for beverages in,side the fridge,she settled for a soft drink.

“But what if….”

“No what ifs,you don’t have to think negatively of this okay?”Tricia shushed Diana.

Diana had asked herself many what ifs,it does nothing but drive her to a wrong conclusion,her heart tightened in fear.

Tricia took fruits from the fridge and started cutting to shreds.

“Hope you would like fruits salad and vegetables?,you know how bad I am when it comes to cooking”she asked .

“Would be fine, but you really need to learn, someone is going to be sent packing one day o”Diana mused smiling at her.

Just then,they heard a car horn,Diana leaped to her feet and ran out, Tricia almost bumped into her as they fought to go out,Nadia shook her head all smiles as she followed them with her soft drink at hand.

They got outside to see David’s car, he’s carefully parking it at it’s usual s₱0t.

He jumped out and Diana flew into his arms,he fell backwards and used his car to maintain his balance.

Tricia ran to them and hugged him from behind.
Nadia stood and watched speculatively.

Diana crushed her l-ips on his and held it for countless minutes.
Tricia backed off as she watched the show of emotion.

Nadia cleared her throat funnily and concentrated on drinking her soft drink as she paced around the compound.

Peter stood at the already closed gate,his hands where on his head as he smiled slyly.

David and Diana took a break to gasp in air.
“I missed you”she whispered softly.

“Missed you too baby”he said and threw k-sses on her face.

He allowed her leg hit the ground reluctantly and turned to look at his sister.

“What happened David?”Tricia asked hugging him.

“He needs to rest first”Diana said as they all walked in,side.

David had refreshened up and was eating when his mother came in,she ran to him and hugged him tight.

Tricia had called her to inform her about his arrival.

She wasn’t too patient to allow him eat;
“David,what happened to you?… you never spent a day out without any call or text,what happened?”she asked hurriedly and sat down beside him at the dinning.

Diana, Tricia and Nadia where seated on one couch,their eyes where fixed on them.

“Well….”David started but Tricia came in.

“Mom please,let him eat, there’s still a lot of time,he might not have taken anything since yesterday”

David grinned at her,well…he might not have taken food but what he took is much more than food, now eating is kinda hærd for him,he thought of a better way to start explaining everything to them.

The door bell ringed and Tricia went to open the door.

The door opened right on her face,if not that she ducked her face away,the door would have slapped her hærd on the left cheek.

“I should have known it’s you!”she snorted and went to sit down.

Harry walked straight to David ignoring Tricia.

“Mom good morning!”he greeted Maggie but rounded the table to strangle David.

“Hey calm it!..jeez!”David stood up and held his hands tight.

“What the f-ck is wrong with you?!, you didn’t even reply my calls and texts,if not that Mom called,I would be worried sick about you!”

“Well, shouldn’t you be happy am here instead of attempting to murder me”David laughed releasing his hands.

“You are better dead son of a….”
Harry kept quiet to avoid spitting what he wanted to say right in front of Maggie,she had warned him and David to stop cursing each other with such filthy words,so they do that at her absence.

“I know you have missed my wife’s food,so sit down and enjoy this one”David said sitting down to eat.

“How did you know?”Harry asked licking his l-ips as he looked at the food.

Maggie, Tricia and Nadia bursted into laughter as they watched them struggle over a piece of meat .

“There’s more in the kitchen Harry,you don’t have to fight over that one”Diana said standing on her feet with her hands thrown up.

“I want this particular meat,I mean…he has eaten enough, hasn’t he?!”Harry commented inclining his head mischievously.

“Jeeez! Diana!!…are you begging him, seriously?!…if I am you, I will ask him to leave my husband’s food alone!, if he wants to enjoy such food, he should go to his numerous girlfriends or go get married for good!”Tricia shouted putting on a serious face, her hands on her h¡ps as she stood in a gallant position, her right leg ahead of the other.

“Oh thank you Jesus, Tricia’s not her,she can’t even cook a tasty food”Harry threw back at her face.

“And you think I can’t actually walk you out of this house?!”Tricia questioned getting angry.

Harry laughed instead and walked towards her.

David threw the piece of meat into his mouth and watched them with much interest,this is not the first time they are getting on each others nerves.

Maggie is used to Harry and Tricia’s quarrels though they haven’t done that for quite sometime now,so she relaxed on her seat and watched.

Diana folded her arms and watched with as much interest as Nadia whom crossed her legs to catch the show.

Harry stopped in front of her,she could feel his breath slow and steady,but her blood is boiling as he brought his face closer to hers.
She thought he wanted to k-ss her,she took a few steps backward.

“Can you?”he asked coming closer to her.

Tricia moved backwards until her back hitted the door, she froze.

When he was close enough,she pushed her hands forward to stop him,he took captive of her hands and dropped a k-ss on it,then bursted into laughter as he turned and left her mopping at him.

“Please watch that girl, you might catch a fly”Nadia said pointing at Tricia’s open mouth.

“You are crazy!”Tricia shouted at no one in particular,and ran upstairs without looking back.

“I think so too”Diana said.

“You think so too?”Maggie asked her confused at her words .

“Yes, I think Harry is crazy too,you two would look good together,two crazy people makes a perfect couple”Diana said going to sit down.

“I don’t think it’s ever going to work between these two, Tricia never liked Harry right from childhood when they are in school.

She said Harry maltreated her because he’s her senior, so she was very angry with David at first when she learnt they are best friends”Maggie explained laughing at the memories that hovered around her mind.

“She haven’t told you the truth”Harry snorted laughing.

“Well..that might be right but you never can tell”Diana said looking at Nadia whom shrugged her shoulders.

“So David, vomit it,what happened,I can’t wait till eternity for you to talk about yesterday”Harry said flatly.

“Oh yes son!,you really got us worried!”Maggie added.

“Am sorry for putting you all through worry, it wasn’t really my fault”David started placing his spoon on the table,then continued”I went to meet a client….or I should say, a lady I thought was interested in investing with my company,

she had been chatting me on Whatsapp for a long time and some of my workers testified that they know her, that she had paid a visit to the company with the CEO of Frenzy Merchandise, Kelvin Rowlands,

so, I believed she’s there for business and I went to see her in the hotel she said she wants to spend some days in it before going back”he stopped and looked over at Diana, she’s looking at him with earnest interest.

“She invited me to the hotel,I went with the mindset that am going there for business after all, I have held many business meetings at a hotel where privacy is number one priority, I went and we talked about business but……

she gave me a drugged whiskey… I…I didn’t know what happened till this morning, I woke up all weak and…. itchy, I didn’t know why she did that,I didn’t find her anywhere around the hotel until I left, and I couldn’t find the file I went there with, I think she……”

“Stole it?!!”Tricia shouted wide eyed ,her hand where on the stairs railing as she looked down at them,they all looked surprised.She had been listening.

“Yes”David answered lowly looking down at his hands which he folded on the table.
Diana came and hugged him on his shoulders.

“It’s going to be alright honey”She whispered to his ear .

“Yeah,the police are on it, I called them through the hotels telephone, they have checked the hotel and it seems like she’s an imposter because the name on the hotel list is different from the one on the company’s list and even the phone details shows a different name”he explained.

“Yes…what happened to your phone?”Harry and Maggie chorused.

“I left it at my office,I thought that if I needed anything since it’s just a few minutes meeting that I will use the hotels phone”David replied looking like a questioned teenager.

“Oh God!..why me?..my enemies are at work oo!!”Maggie sobbed.
David took his mother’s hands in his and squeezed gently reassuring her that everything will be okay;

“Mom please don’t worry, I must get to the root of this, she is playing with the tail of a lion,I won’t stop until I bring her to book no matter who sent her”he promised.

“Mom, don’t worry, God is in control, aren’t you always the one who tells me that whenever I’m worried about failing my exams,and he always passes me,He will do it this time,I believe”Tricia said as she took the few stairs and hugged Maggie passionately.

“This is….so…like something from a movie,I mean..how can …”Harry trailed off as his shoulders sagged.

“I know he will take care of this mom,all he needs now is our prayer and support,God will see him through, crying and wailing won’t get anything solved”Diana said being brave.

“Wow!..am in a loss of words here, I still think this is something from a fairy tale story, I mean I have heard many people say that they are in such trouble but I haven’t seen a person in such a situation, I pray she gets caught, seriously”Nadia said shaking her head lightly as she snapped her fingers in disbelief.

“But,what does the file contain?..I mean what are the contents contained in it?”Harry asked again looking at him intently.

“I think these questions have to cease for now,he needs to rest and think of what to do and he can’t do it answering these series of questions”Diana said pulling him to his feet.

“Alright, I will call you,I have to go and take care of somethings”Harry said standing up.

“Okay, thanks for coming”Diana replied.

“Mom, don’t worry,I gat him,we are on this together”Harry said giving her a reassuring tap on the shoulder.

“You are welcome my son,God will bless you for all the support”Maggie appreciated.

“It’s fine Mom, I will be here soon”he replied walking towards the door as he scrolled through his phone.

“As if he has done anything better than talk!”Tricia snorted looking away.

“Mmm”Nadia cleared her throat.

Diana and David looked at each other and found their way upstairs.

“Well… I think I have to go Trish”Nadia said standing up.

“Alright dear, thanks for coming,I really appreciate,let me see you off then”

Maggie watched them leave.

Diana came downstairs after somewhile and started clearing the dinning table.

Maggie stood up reluctantly and tried helping her.

“No mom, don’t worry,just sit down and relax”Diana made to stop her.

“I think I have heard enough of those words ‘don’t worry’,so stop, I will help you do the dishes while you clean the table”Maggie said carrying the dishes in,side the kitchen ignoring Diana’s attempt to stop her.

“She can be stubborn at times”Tricia said closing the door behind her, then added”especially when she’s upset, allow her do what she wants, that will calm her nerves”

Diana took in a deep breath and slumped to a dinning chair.

Tricia took the rag she’s holding and started cleaning the table.

“She will be fine right?”Diana asked .

“Yeah, she will”Tricia answered.
