Alexa’s pov 🎀

*The game starts now!*

Then we hear the referee’s whistle and the game officially begun….

The referee puts the ball in the center of the court, he blows his whistle… Xander pushes me behind him gently.

He turns his head towards me slightly.

“Don’t try to get the ball” he told me.. well, more like warned me.

I nod.

Someone from Janet and Brett’s team snatches the ball and throws it to their teammates behind… Brett catches the ball and attacked first.

The ball went straight to one our teammates and he was eliminated immediately… Brett lock gaze with Connor and smirks.

From the way I see this game, it’s gonna be hostile!

Connor picks the ball and aimed at Brett but Brett was fast and dodge it and counterattack.

Xander takes a ball from a teammate and throws it hærd randomly and it hits someone behind Brett.

Brett stops and glares at Xander maliciously but Xander smirks….he nods and turns away.

I move away from Xander’s back to get a ball.. I mean, I came here to play too and not just to watch.

But none of our teammates are giving me any chance to get any ball… I guess it’s Xander’s doing.

Xander and Brett are standing in front of each other with balls in their hands.. feeling each other out.

No one takes rash decision, it’s like they are trying to find each other’s weakness.

Seeing this Janet comes forward with a ball to help Brett.. now Xander is at a disadvantage.

“Alpha, it’s a game, I hope you won’t blame me for going against you?” Janet asked.. bashing her eyelashes flirtatiously.

“It’s a game, but don’t take it too far!”

Janet smirks at me and winks at Xander… I swear I feel like clawing out her eyes right now!

They are in confrontation now, the two teams in alert.. they are moving slowly and changing the formation slowly.

Suddenly, Brett made an attack and Xander responded immediately.

Their balls collided in the air. Brett and Janet made an attack in succession, Brett and Xander dodged the ball respectively.

The game continue and is heating up, back and forth attacks between the two teams.

Balls hitting members from each team and they’re getting eliminated until it’s just Xander, Connor, Tyler, me and a guy.

Brett, Janet and two other guys from their team are left too.

Brett attacked from the side but Xander makes a quick turn and catches the ball.

Xander throws the ball at one of the two guys from Brett’s team and it hits the guy’s leg.. he falls down and was eliminated immediately.

Brett and Janet looks at each other.. Janet changes her direction and they made a comeback.

Brett throws a fastball randomly and it comes towards me in full speed… I wanted to run but my feet stayed rooted on that s₱0t.

It was gonna hit me but Xander dives me from the side and we both dodge the ball… But unfortunately, it has to hit Connor and he was eliminated.

“Baby, are you ok?” Xander asked me as he helps me up.

I nod.

“Did you break anything?”

“No, I’m fine, let’s get back to the game!”

Xander nods.

“Always hide behind me, we are winning this game together!” He said and pushed me behind him.

I huffed and fold my arms in my chest.. we are winning this game together and I’m not even playing!

“Luna, why aren’t you playing? Are you scared of getting knocked out?” Janet asked.

“Janet! You….” I pulled Xander’s shirt and he kept quiet.

“Alpha, it’s unfair to us, how come our Luna isn’t playing and she’s in the court!”

I come out from behind Xander.. Janet smirks.

“I’m not scared of getting knocked out! I just don’t wanna see you lose to me too badly!” I retort looking confident.

“Then catch a ball and show us what you’ve got.. or I might just assume you’re afraid of losing to me!”

Xander growls and steps in front of me.

“Janet, I told you it’s just game, don’t take it to far!”

I think Janet is underrating me! I must show her that she can’t take me for granted!

I push Xander away and steps forward, puffing out my chest and stare directly in Janet’s eyes.

“Don’t try to look cool, just give up, you know you can’t make it! And stop hiding behind Xander!” She said and laughs.

I’m hiding behind Xander? I really need to prove myself.

“Why should I give up? The game is not over yet! We don’t know who will win!”

She scoffs and nods.

“I don’t wanna waste my time on you, why don’t we just cut to the end?”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“Let’s assume all our teammates are eliminated, it’s just two of us remaining.. let’s attack each other at once…”

She paused and studies my expression, I guess she wanna see if I’m scared.

“Whoever gets hit, their team will automatically lose!”

Humph! That’s easy!

Xander narrows his eyes down at her and steps forward.

“Janet, what are you planning?!”

“Nothing, Alpha…. ”

“You know Alexa is not as fast and strong as you! Also she ain’t disturbing you from playing!” Xander growls.

“Oh? She can’t play a simple game? Does that mean she’s weak? If she’s weak, can she lead our pack?”

Ok, that’s it! Who is she calling weak!

*I feel like pouncing on her!* My subconsciousness said in my mind.

“Fine! Let’s play!” I said.

Xander turns to me.

“No! You’re not playing!”

“Yeah, I support that!” I hear Brett say as he walk towards us.

Ok, the game was officially on hold as everyone was listening to I and Janet’s argument.

“I’ll play, I came here to join the game not just to complete the team but to play!” I told Xander.

Xander shakes his head and glares at Janet.. but Janet smirks in return.

“It’s obvious she doesn’t like you, what if she’s planned something against you?”

“What can she plan against me? I’m her Luna and she wouldn’t dare to hurt me!”

“Baby, I don’t…. ”

I cut him off by placing a finger on his l-ips, I smiled at him and shake my head.

“I wanna do this! I’ll be fine!” I turn away from him and glance at Brett, he wanted to speak but I signal him not to.

I face Janet. “Game on!”

I take a ball from Tyler. Janet an I both take few steps back and stand a few feet away from each other.

We both raised our balls ready to hit each other… She first grins widely then smirk.

From my peripheral view, I saw Xander nods at the referee… then we heard the referee’s whistle and we both throw our balls at each other.

Our balls collided in the air and didn’t get to any of us… I quickly reached for another ball, Janet does the same.

My gaze zeroed on her hand holding the ball, she holds it tighter than she held the first.

It seems like this ball is kinda heavy… then referee’s whistle blows again and this time, we added a lot of force in throwing our balls.

Janet’s ball comes at me in full speed.. but surprisingly, I caught it single handedly…and my guess is right…this ball is heavier than mine.

I hear a thud and a yelp from Janet, I turned to her and saw her on the ground… gro-ning and rubbing her forehead.

*Get that!* I hear in my head.

Don’t tell me my ball did that!

The referee’s whistle blows bringing the game to an end.

*The game is over and Alpha’s team wins!*

Everyone starts cheering, Xander, Connor Tyler and the rest of the team members rushed to me.

“Luna, I thought you wouldn’t win against Janet!” Tyler said… I smiled.

Xander’s arm wrap around my wa-ist and pulled me against himself.. he rests his forehead on mine and touch our nose.

“You took her down earlier than I expected!” He said.

“I told you, I can handle her!”

Then a strong smell of Xander’s sweat hit me, I close my eyes and pull away from him.

“You need to take a shower!”

“Why?”

“Why? You’re sweating all over!”

He perceived his body and shakes his head.

“I’m not smelling, I’ve got your scent all over me!”

“Really?!” He nods.

My eyes wanders to Janet, she’s still glaring at me from the ground… I saw Mr Cam rush over to her.

I wanted to go over to her but Joyce called Xander’s name in a panic… I turn to her.

“Alpha!”

“Joyce, slow down!” Connor scolds her.

“Alpha, the alpha King just mind-link me.. he said your mind-link is blocked!” She said.

Xander nods. “I didn’t want any disturb! What happened?!”

She looks at me unsure, like she doesn’t wanna say it in front of me.

“Er… should I excuse you guys?” I asked.

“No! Joyce speak!” Xander said.

Joyce nods and clears her throat.

“The Alpha King said Will and Micah….they were attacked on their way back!”

My eyes grows wide.

“Attacked?! What do you mean by attacked?!”

Xander pulls me closer and embraced me to himself.

“How serious is the attack?” Xander asked.

“Will is fine but heavily injured, Micah… he’s in a coma!”

My blood runs cold, I feel my head spinning… My brothers!

“Xander, I wanna see them, take me to them now!”

He nods and faces Joyce.

“Where are they?”

“Packhouse!”

“Connor, Tyler…” He faces Joyce. “..and you, to the packhouse!”

Xander carried me in his arms and rushes towards the exit… But i saw Brett smirk before we got out of sight.

I wonder why.. but that’s not my problem now!

Writer’s pov 🎀

“Don’t touch me!” Janet yells at Mr Cam.

Mr Cam doesn’t listen to her, he helps her up and arrange her messy hair.

Janet glares at the exit where Xander and Alexa went.. she balled her fist.

“She thinks she’s won, I must make her leave Xander and be the Luna queen!”

Mr Cam sighs and holds her shoulders.

“Janet, you don’t have to be the Luna queen to be great.. I love you just the way you are, give us a chance….”

Janet didn’t let him finish his words before slapping him across his face.

“Don’t ever speak of I giving you a chance! It can never work between us!”

Mr Cam paused and stares at her in disbelief.. he rubs his cheek.

“But Janet….”

“I don’t want you to be my mate, the only one I want is Xander!”

“But the moon goddess already paired us, you have to accept me”

Janet scoffs.

“Accept you? Not gonna happen.. in fact…”

She paused and took a deep breath.

“I, Janet Molly Jackson reject you, Cam Chris James!”

Mr Cam stares at her with red eyes, then he burst into laughter.. laughing bitterly.

“Fine! You don’t want me, I won’t bother you ever again!” Mr Cam walked away.

Brett claps his hands and walk towards Janet.

“You rejected your mate, that’s brave!”

“It’s none of your business!” She snaps at him.

Brett nods and turns to leave but Janet quickly grabs his arm and pulls him back.

“You said you had a plan, why didn’t I see you take any action?!”

Brett snatches his arm from her grip and adjusts his shirt.

“Oh, I did take action and the result is already out!”

“Huh?!” Janet asked in confusion.

Brett shakes his head.

“You’re too dumb to comprehend what I mean, just know you’re getting your beloved Xander soon!”

*And die with him soon!* He said mentally.

“You better mean what you just said, jerk!”

Brett glares at her harshly.

“If I were you, I’d mind the way I talk to me!” Brett said and walks away.

Janet balled her fist and angrily kicks a ball in front of her.
