As time went on, sale of hostel came up and I knew part time students were not allocated hostels normally but I was informed by a friend of mine that if you joined a society in the school or the school sports team, you can get a hostels. I wasn’t good at sports so i started an-lysing which society I could join.
The available society were The Army Cadet, Man o war and Red cross society.
I watched man o war trainning their new recruits one day but discorvered it was too tough for me so I decided to go for Army Cadet i have likeness for millitary people. I went to their office one day to get form but as i was about going into the office, their oga stopped me and shouted “stop there! what do you want” I shook with fear because of his thick bass voice and also his muscular stature but then i relaxed a bit, he was human like me nau… he no fit even bit me gaan.
I got a little bold and hærdened my face to look tough as if i wasn’t scared of him.

He shouted again “what are you looking for?
you don’t have mouth?”
“I’m looking f-for felix” i stammered. *felix was a friend of mine in ND2. He was the one that encouraged me to join the cadet.
“Oya bang your leg before you enter” he barked at me.
I b@nged my leg but it wasn’t loud enough for him. I b@nged my leg h-rder till it started painning me, yet he didn’t seem satisfied as he kept asking me to bang louder.

I was already getting angry and i stopped banging my leg. Just then, one of their people came and stod in front of the door and

“Granted! Fall in” the oga replied from in,side. when he got in,side he shouted “Sir! Moorrriinng sir!”
“Moring! where’s what I sent you?”
“Sir! I couldn’t get it sir!” the junior officer replied with fear
“Go and pin your head outside!” the senior officer said.
The guy came outside and pinned his head.
The senior officer came out to check him and adjusted him well. He turned to me and said “you! you stubborn abi? you no fit bang leg abi? oya pin your head!”
lemme explain this ‘pin your head’ punishment: you put your head on the floor, with your legs spread out and your hands behind your back.
I was like You say?
“I say pin your head”
I thought the punishment was easy so i was like WTF lemme just do it and Zap outta here.
I positioned myself and started doing the punishment. People were just passing and looking at us. I was embarassed but i wanted to try the punishment. before 2minutes, my head started painning me, coupled with yabatech ground that is like tarred express road. The gravel was really paining my head.

I started sweating and soaked my boxer and started sweating through my trousers.
The other guy wasn’t even sweating I guess he’s used to it already I nearly cried but kept being a strong man.
I adjusted myself severally to reduce the pain on my leg and head and shoulder.
Truely pride goes before a fall.
I didn’t know when I lost my pride and started begging my fellow man “please sir… abeg, please I’ll bang my leg please, I’ll do anything you say please” the pain was just too much to bear.
“Stand up and bang your leg” he barked at me like he was talking to his 2year old brother.

I was ordered to leave there. I ran like a child that was freed by bullies.

I didn’t find it funny though.
The cadet was out now. Redcross was the next in line.

I wanted my revenge on that guy that punished me cos i love revenge like food.
I was thinking of a way to take my revenge but didn’t find anyway.
I went to redcross meeting and it was so easy joining.
They just sold form for me and asked me to pay N500 for I.D card and N1000 for uniform which i will collect after training.
They discussed about hostel purchase and said form is N14000, which is the normal price the school offers the hostel.
I enjoyed the redcross meeting so much as it wasn’t stressful at all. The redcross society is a paramillitary group so no too much millitary actions. There were fine girls there too.
I quickly picked up the redcross anthem and VAD prayer.

I saw one chick that caught my fancy. She was pretty and she had 2 h0les pierced in her ear and a h0le in her nose. She also had this gaga hairstyle that made her look like a rough girl.
She was still pretty though and she had nice small l-ips.

I got an empty seat beside her and sat. I just said ‘hi’ to her and she faced me and started smilling like a zombie and in my mind i was like ‘wetin do dis one? aha’ I looked away and looked back at her and she was still staring at me. I tried to imaging what she was thinking at that moment but couldn’t get it.
I looked in her eyes this time and said ‘hey whatsup?’
‘are you talking to me?’ she asked

me: yea… I’m referring to you… how are you?
she: I’m good, you?
me: Coool!
she: what is this redcross thing all about sef?
me: I just joined today… wait, why are you here if you dunno what its about
she: A friend invited me to join.
me: ehe! anyway, lets see how it turns out
she:yeah! lets see hoe it goes
we both faced front as the commandant was now speaking. He talked about training that would come up later in the year.
We were also taught how to administer first aid.
