FLASH BACK
The brightness of the morning weather reflected on Rachael’s face through the window. As if pinched by a sharp niddle, she jumped up from the bed to see Jimmy gone. Her ears was not only the thing drawn by the ticking hands of the clock, but also her eyes which were directed to it. “Pass eight!” she exclaimed, remembering that the car her father needed to drive to church was parked in front of Antonia’s residence. She checked her phone to see several missed calls. Unaware, she ran out of the house with Jimmy’s cloth on her body.
On the other hand, Mr Frank, Antonia’s father, opened her daughter’s room to see her blocking the door as if hiding a man in,side the room.
“Good morning, Daddy.” She smiled pleasantly.
“Antonia, open the door widely. Are you Okay?” the father suspected.
“I’m fine, just that Rachael is dressing up.” she lied. All the acting was to cover up her friend’s absence.
“Rachael!” Mr Frank called out loud. “Rachael, your father called.. are you there?”
No response. Only then did the man fully succ-mb to his suspicion then had the room opened by force to see nobody. Antonia swallowed hærd when her father’s glaring eyes fixed on her.
“I thought you said she was in here, Antonia.”
“Uhm.. um.. Daddy… May be she.. she has gone.” the girl fumbled still in a transparent night gown.
“Without her father’s car?”
“She forgot the car.” Antonia boldly ch¡pped in only to realize that it was a silly statement to make. Therefore she lowered her head in shame, increasing more and longer atmosphere of suspicion. Mr Frank suddenly went dumb, but unexpectedly saw Rachael at the door in a strange polo and short. On her shoulder hung a mini bag. Antonia’s eyes caught with her friend who stood at the door speechlessly. First, she wondered where she got the cloth she’s wearing and why she looks so unkempt. Mr Frank monitored both of them as they communicated with their eyes.
“Rachael, oh, you forgot your car key?” Antonia broke the silence, rushed the key on the nearest reading table and jingled it before her.
“Uhm… yes, yes, i did…” Rachael hurried in,side, grabbed the key then headed out. “Good morning, Mr Frank!” her voiced echoed from the staircase, obviously avoiding any possible questions from the man. But a child always thinks she can deceive her father without knowing he passed the same process when he was at her age. So Mr Frank ignored them but never hesitated to inform Mr Ojile what he thinks he knows.
Meanwhile, Mr and Mrs Ojile was waiting for their daughter in the sitting room, watching news about the accident and strange disappearance of the corpse when Rachael rushed in still in Jimmy’s clothing. They stared at her.
“Dad, I’m sorry. I over slept.” Rachael quivered.
“You overslept because it was tagged a sleepover, right? But it’s disrespectful that you had to oversleep in a man’s bed at your age!” Mr Ojile scolded.
Rachael knew that her cover had been blown off when she glanced at the television screen to see herself and Jimmy being questioned by a policeman. So she summoned courage.
“Nothing happened between Jimmy and I. He was only helping me to know who I am. Now explain to me why you warned him not to mention to anybody about what he knows?” she stepped forward.
Her mother’s voice grew cold and worried. “What are you talking about, my dear?” She wanted to pet her but she withdrew from her.
“Is my name Amaya?” she asked again unabashedly. “Are both of you really my parents!?” she added.
Mrs Ojile glanced at the husband to please satisfy the daughter’s curiosity.
“Why this questions and doubt, Rachael?” The father stepped forward. “Of course we’re your parents and your name is not Amaya in any way! That boy just brainwashed you!”
“Then why did you warn him to..”
“We never did!” the mother interrupted her. “He’s lying to you!”
Mr Ojile humbly approached the daughter, placed two hands on her shoulder. “Tell us exactly what happened last night.” he requested.
Rachael explained everything from A-Z. Quickly, the father brought out her medical records from birth and their DNA result, showed them to her saying, “That boy just want to use you. There is no such thing as Talibans otherwise it would have been recorded in the history of mankind. That boy might actually be the cause of the accident. See here..” he brought out a picture of Jimmy standing with Ikuku. “Who’s that man with him by that time of the night?” he showed her.
Coupling with the disappearance of Jimmy when she woke up, Rachael believed her parents…..

CONTINUITY
Rudely, Jimmy battled with the policemen at the station, refusing to go in,side with handcuffs on his wrist. His eyes had gone red, droplet of sweat forming on his forehead and his voice growing higher than ever.
“What’s my offense?! Can’t you see that I’m trying to save you all?!”
“From what?” One of the men asked him.
“From the Talibans!”
“Talibans?” the man smiled while others giggled. “I think I’ve heard that before but it’s a folk tale.”
“It’s real! I’ve been there! Amaya gonna bring us to destruction! Oh, what I care so much is about her own life that might be lost in the process!” Jimmy lamented.
“Shut up!” the man showed him a picture of him with Ikuku. Only then did Jimmy realize that his meeting with him wasn’t a dream. “You were seen with this ghost at the accident scene. I guess you’re some kind of diabolical young man who kidnapped Mr Ojile’s daughter.” They pushed him like a criminal.
“I didn’t kidnap her! She walked to my doorstep last night. You have to believe me!” the poor boy struggled in their hands.

The day was gradually going by when Mrs Okenagba could be seen with her son in his own room, sitting on the floor as usual like a hostage. She had been the one to release him from the hands of the police, thinking that her son needs a psychiatric doctor.
“Jimmy, what’s happening to you? Are you going mad or what?” The poor widow sadly began. “You’re the latest news in town for having the audacity to harbour someone’s daughter overnight and seen with a strange man!”
Jimmy stood up, wanting to walk out on his mother without saying anything but the woman pulled him back and slapped him. “Are you nut?!”
Jimmy shook his head with tears circulating his eyes. “You can slap me again mama, but one day you’ll regret ever laying hands on me for this weird reason.” He finally left, called Kris on the phone to meet him at a joint.
Jimmy could be seen on a public seat, wearing a black polo over a jean trouser with a canvas. On his wrist rested a black wristwatch which he occasionally glanced until Kris arrived in more humble and rich appearance like a young banker. On his face rested a transparent eyeglasses.
“Jimmy, everybody thinks you’re going insane.” Kris said without siting on the seat with him, rather placed his hands in,side his pockets.
Jimmy stood up. “But you know i’m not insane, don’t you?” he faced him like a man.
Kris exhaled then looked around. “Why did you call me?” he changed the topic.
“I want you to call Rachael to come here coz you’re the only one she’ll listen to. I want to speak with her.”
“Jimmy, I’ve told you times without number that…”
Jimmy grabbed Kris on the shoulders, staring closely into his eyes like a scientist viewing through a microscope. “This is the only thing I’ve asked from you in my entire life! Please, abeg you, you it for me” he interrupted tactfully.
Reluctantly Kris succ-mbed to his request. Both seated on the public seat, watching cars sped on the road and pedestrians crossing and strolling along the road too as they watchfully anticipated Rachael. Suddenly, they sighted her, wanting to cross the road in her charming appearance; sun glasses, dangling hair which she occasionally slid backward, polo shirt over an elastic black trouser and white canvas too. Jimmy stood up immediately he saw her, waiting until she approached. Rachael removed her eyeglasses when she saw him, but ignored him to Kris.
“Hey, Kris, you called.” she said, standing before him.
“Rachael, I’m actually the one that wants to see you.” Jimmy turned to her. “I want to know if you believe me or not and I’ll never bother you again.”
“Where went you when I woke up, huh?” Rachael began. “You lied to me and was seen with… with.. a man in the middle of the night. I don’t know who you are, Jimmy and stop coming close to me!”
“That man is Ikuku” Jimmy drew closer.
“Who?” Kris asked from the seat.
“Ikuku from the story of Den…”
Kris interrupted him with a laugher. “Now I believe you’re insane, Jimmy.”
“No! He actually showed me the world of the Talibans and how Amaya which is you was born accordance with the belief of the Talibans! You have to believe me Rachael!” Jimmy tried to hold her on the shoulder.
“Don’t touch me!” Rachael pushed him away, hitting the innocent boy’s buttocks on the ground. Kris stood up surprisingly after that, watching as Jimmy stood on his feet, dusted his butt and said, “I’ll never bother you again, Rachael.” he climbed his motorcycle and sped off…..
