To say that I am hurt right now would be an understatement, I am mad as hell, I am angry and I so hate my mother-in law more than I ever did. She has finally turned my little brother against me. Ernest had never talked to me like that before and I am so shocked right now that he had the audacity, no the guts to talk to me in that kind of manner. I am very sure that it was her who fed him with all the lies; it was her who told Ernest that I have been a bad person. Now more than ever I was willing to make her pay for just doing that to me. My own brother wishing that I wasn’t his sister, no the words hurt me really bad and since he left my house, I hadn’t stopped thinking of what he said to me. My heart aches a lot and I promise I will make Jamal’s mother pay.

I am sitting on the floor sipping on beer and his words keeping replaying keep running through my mind. Why Ernest? Of all the people in this world who are able to be rude to me, why him and because of that woman. I will make sure that she suffers more than she ever did when she is discharged from the hospital, I will make sure that she is going to experience more pain than she ever did. I know Ernest will be travelling very soon and she will have no other choice but to come back to the house. I am trying so hærd to think about some other things but I just can’t.

‘Babes, what happened?’

I look up and there is Tiffany with a worried look on her face, I didn’t hear her coming in and I don’t know what to say to her.

‘I just had a bad day today,’ I replied trying to get up but I fall back on the floor.

I have had a lot to drink and right now I am just feeling dizzy.

‘Come on, let’s get you cleaned up,’ Tiffany takes my hand and I finally manage to get up.

We walk to the bathroom and I am busy saying out so many stuff. We walk in,side and she helps me remove all of my clothes, after that she opens the shower for me and once that cold water hits my bare skin, I scre-m so loudly. She walks out of the bathroom and I just let the water continuously hit my skin. Just after taking that shower or bath I feel so much better and Tiffany has cleaned the house. It looks much better than before. I walk to the kitchen and she is busy on the stove cooking something.

‘Drink that,’ she points out at the cup which is on the table.

‘Tiffany,’ I call out when I see what’s in,side.

‘Drink it.’

It’s just disgusting traditional medicine that will make me feel better and it just taste bad. I gulped it all in one go as per instructed and yaaaaak, it taste horrible. I place the plastic cup on the table and Tiffany smile. I fake a smile too obviously pissed off by what she made me drink, it tasted horrible and I could have had something else but not that.

‘Supper will be ready,’ she is sounding like mum and her tone is making me feel nervous.

I am quiet sure after the dinner; I am having a sermon with her. We eat our food in silence and when we finish, I clear the table and Tiffany tells me that she will do the dishes whilst I go at the couch and watch some soapies. I know she is a lovely person and I am just lucky to have her in my life. If it wasn’t for her, I don’t know what would have become of me. Tiffany finishes off everything and sits beside me. She hasn’t said anything and I seriously want to break the silence.

‘What happened?’ she finally asks and I decrease the volume of the TV.

I pay attention to her and tell her everything that had happened that day. She is not impressed at all, I can see with her facial expression.

‘So then you just had to drink? I know you better than this Emily. You don’t have to drink when you feel like you have been defeated. You have to be strong if you want to survive or win this war. Can’t you see your mother-in law is trying to turn you against your own brother?’

That’s what I thought and I am glad Tiffany sees the same thing. I knew that she was the one who told Ernest about I mistreating her. She could have been the one who called him over to my house. I listen to Tiffany as she tells me what to do next, she is right after all; if I am not careful with that woman, she will even take Jamal away from me. Ernest won’t be the last person.

‘So if you want this to work then you better be strong baby girl. You should let that woman get to you. You already won when you turned his son against her but Jamal might forgive her very soon.’

‘So what should I do?’

Tiffany smiles and I know she has got another plan. She is always intelligent with these kind of things, it’s as if though she is an expect or maybe she is.

‘You need to make Jamal hate his mother that he will never remember her once she goes back to the village. You think you can do that?’ she asks.

‘I am not sure what I am supposed to do but I am listening to suggestions.’

‘That’s why I am here. You have been calling her a witch but then we need proof.’

‘I am listening.’

‘We find something and frame her. By the end of the day when her son comes back, she will be on her way back to the village. She won’t have Jamal in her life and that my friend is what we need to finally destroy her. She can’t live without Jamal and so we take the only thing she value the most in her life. You want Jamal all to yourself right?’ she asks and I nod my head in agreement.

‘I will do anything Tiff.’

‘Then I shall help you.’

Cheers to that but then I wasn’t allowed to drink by Tiff, she wanted me to be strong and not weak. If my mother-in law thought that my little brother will stop me from doing whatever I had planned, then she was mistaken. Not even Ernest was going to stop me and I thank Tiff for being there for me. She told me so many things that I was supposed to do and we finally went to sleep. The next following day, I wasn’t in the mood to go to work and so I spent the wh0le day with Tiffany. I had been trying to call Ernest but he had been clearly avoiding my calls. Despite everything, he is still my brother and I love him a lot. Tiffany told me to give him space just maybe he will come through. I hadn’t talked to hubby and maybe he is just busy with work.

‘I have to get going now,’ said Tiff that afternoon.

She was supposed to go and have lunch with her mother-in law. I didn’t want her to go but then I wouldn’t want Bradley to be mad at her.

‘Thank you for spending the night with me babe,’ I said to her and she took my hand.

‘Just know that I will always be there for you. We will do this together,’ she says to me and hugs me.

If it wasn’t for her telling me to be careful with my mother-in law then I would have relaxed and let her mistreat me but she didn’t stand a chance since I had attacked her first. I walked Tiffany out of the house and waited for her to drive out before finally going back in,side the house. I waved her goodbye as she was driving out and I went back in,side the house. I had nothing to do and so I decided to take a shower and visit my mother-in law. I mean she was my mother-in law and the least I could do was to visit her at my brother’s hospital. I took a quick shower and had some food before leaving the house. It was at around 4pm when I drove out of my yard. I didn’t call Ernest since he was already ignoring me. I drove to his hospital. My brother had done well for himself; he owned his own hospital just like our late father who owned a pharmacy. I was so proud of Ernest and even though we never agreed on everything, he was still my little brother. I parked my car at the parking lot and stepped outside. The guard knew me and so he didn’t ask me a lot of questions when I walked in,side the hospital to his office.

I didn’t know which room my mother-in law was in and so I wanted to ask Ernest first. I passed by the receptionist and she didn’t dare me ask anything from me. I wasn’t in the mood for some interrogation please. Ernest wasn’t in his office when I opened it. I walked to the chair and sat on it. I thought maybe he might have gone somewhere. I just made myself comfortable when I heard someone opening the door. I looked at the door wanting to see the person who was going to walk in,side. Behold it was her, the woman my brother fell in love with.

‘If it isn’t her.’

‘Hie Auntie Emily,’ she greeted me and I clicked my tongue.

Auntie Emily, my foot. I know she was after my brother’s money. I didn’t like her and even if mum did, I told her that 1 day they will see who she really is because she was just faking it. She didn’t love my brother and was after his money. She knows that I don’t like her.

‘Ernest is not around. He went out,’ she said to me.

‘I never asked. I am here to see my mother-in law. Where is she?’ I asked getting up from the seat.

She didn’t respond and I know what that means. Ernest might have told her not to allow me in.

‘You can’t speak?’

‘I am sorry but I can’t tell you where she is,’ she said and I pushed her against the wall.

‘You better tell me where that witch is or else I will….,’ I raised my hand wanting to slap her and she quickly closed her eyes.

I place my hands on her neck.

‘You are hurting me.’

‘And I will strangle you to death if you don’t tell me,’ I threaten her.

‘Emily!’ I hear him shouting and there he is standing at the door.
