☀Jade West’s POV ☀
He looked down at his phone again and sighed.
Andre: Beck just texted me. He’s at the hospital
I furrowed my eye brows
Me: why?
Andre: Tori got knocked down by a car and she’s in a critical condition
Me: what? Oh my God. Which hospital?
Andre: I’ll call him now
I crossed my arms and began to pace round the hall. I was so tensed up.
Me: I’m going to find Cat
I raced back to the class and she was dancing with a red headset over her head.
Me: Cat
She didn’t see me
I walked to her and removed the set
Cat: what’s that for?
Me: get your bag, we’re leaving school
Cat: why
I sighed
Me: Tori got knocked down by a car
Cat scre-med and I closed my eyes
Cat: is she dead?
I opened my eyes to see tears streaming down hers
Me: I know she’s in a critical condition. We have to go and see her
She hurriedly took her bag and followed me out. Andre was still waiting in the hall
Me: what’s the address?
He showed me the phone, I read it
Me: I know the hospital. We’ll take my car
We went outside and entered my car then we drove off
☀ Andre Harris’ POV ☀
When we got to the hospital, we saw Beck pacing around the reception hall with blood stains on his hands and shirt.
Sitting on the long bench was his mom and Tori’s dad.
Me: Beck
I ran to him with the girls
Me: how is she?
He sighed
Beck: I… I don’t know. The doctors haven’t come out
I sighed and tapped him
Me: chill she’ll be okay
He looked down
Me: are you okay?
He looked at me then at Jade and Cat
Beck: hello
Cat: HI Beck
Jade: hi
Jade: let’s go say hi to Mr Vega
Cat: okay
They left and I tried to follow them to say hi to Mrs Oliver but Beck pulled me back
Beck: Andre I’m doomed
Me: what happened? Why are you saying that?
Beck: Tori… She’s..
Me: what?
He sighed
Beck: she’s my sister
Me: huh?
I looked at him in a way that will make him feel like he has lost his mind
Beck: mom and Mr Vega once had an affair back in Canada. She got pregnant and he wanted her to abort, she didn’t and pinned it on my dad instead. It turns out I’m a Vega
I was speechless. A part of me didn’t believe it
Beck: when Tori heard it, she ran out and got hit by a car
Me: how did Mr Vega take this
Beck: I think he has known for awhile. That’s why they wanted us to break up
Me: this isn’t happening. You love Tori so much, you guys shouldn’t be going through this
Beck: I’m doomed Andre. I’m doomed
He rested on the wall and closed his eyes
Me: stop saying that.
Beck: I had s€× with her
Me: WHAAAT??
He sighed out. My voice was so loud that Jade and Cat looked to my direction. Mr Vega and Mrs Oliver weren’t there anymore
I held his hand and took him to a corner
Me: Beck, why did you? I thought you didn’t want to do it with her yet?
Beck: I don’t know. I don’t know. I just don’t know
He squatted down and covered his face. I bent down too
Me: it’s okay. We’ll think things through. Let’s just pray she gets out of this alive okay
He nodded and stood up
Beck: my mom is coming
I looked back
Me : I’ll excuse you
I turned back
Me: good day ma’am
Mrs Oliver : how are you
Me: I’m fine. I’ll excuse you
I left and went to sit beside Jade and Cat. I noticed Cat was wiping her face and sniffing while Jade just leaned against the bench and crossed her arms
Me: are you girls okay?
None of them answered
☀ Beck Oliver’s POV ☀
Mom: get a hold of yourself Beck. What the heck are you doing to yourself
Me: mom, if anything happens to Tori. I’ll do something you’ll so hate
Mom: nothing will happen to Tori.
Me: mom, I don’t know what you’re up to but I’m never going to be a brother to Tori. I rather kill myself than being alive to be a Vega
And that’s it, she slapped me
Mom: don’t you do anything stupid. Beck, you don’t know the guilt I feel raising you with a lie. Raising you like a pauper when you’re supposed to be a prince. You were supposed to be told the truth a long time ago but I was scared Mark would reject you. But now that you two are about to do a terrible mistake, what do you expect us to do?
I sighed, I don’t blame her. It’s not totally her fault
Me: but mom. You know I love Tori right?
Mom: I know
Me: then I can’t live with her being my sister
I walked away from her and was going to Andre when Mr Vega called me
Vega: Beck, I’m sorry you both have to go through this. I wish I could stop this somehow but, it’s so complicated
Me : it’s okay. You don’t have to apologize
He sighed and looked at the door where the doctors were attending to Tori
Me : she’ll be okay sir
Andre walked to me and I faced him
Andre: Beck, shouldn’t we go home so you’ll freshen up
I looked at my blood stained hands. Tori’s blood
Me: okay, I’ll just tell my mom
We walked few steps when Mr Vega called me again. Andre waited for me
Me: yes sir
Vega: do me a huge favor please. Conduct a DNA test
I stared at him without a word
☀ Mrs Oliver’s POV ☀
I was angry at Beck. He’s trying to ruin things out. The idiot has an opportunity to live a life that he has always dreamt of on a platter of gold but he’s being blinded by stupid love.
Why can’t he be reasonable?
But I’m also scared. He can do something terrible. He might even run away with Tori. I don’t want to loose my son.
What I’m I going to do now? Something has to be done to keep Beck down
I walked to a nurse who was going to Tori’s room
Me: please may I have a word with you?
Nurse: I’m sorry ma’am but I’m really busy
Me: please, what’s your name?
Nurse: Tasha Roberts
Me: thank you. I’ll get back to you later
She nodded and entered the room
☀ Beck Oliver’s POV ☀
I showered and put on a different shirt then Andre and I came back to the hospital. Cat was crying terribly and so was Trina. My eyes w¡dened
Me: what’s going on?
I quickly moved to my mom
Me: mom what happened?
She didn’t answer
Jade looked at me and walked out. No one was talking.
Andre seemed to be as confused as I was. Then the door to Tori’s ward opened and a body was rolled out. It was covered like a corpse.
Immediately Cat saw it, she scre-med and began to cry even more. Trina began to call Tori’s name.
My eyes w¡dened. I refuse to think that it happened. No way
Mr Vega walked to me and patted me
Mark: I’m sorry Beck…. My Tori didn’t make it
I looked at the nurses as they rolled the body away.
I felt a sharp pain in my head. I closed my eyes and scre-med then ran out of the hospital

😑Chapter 26 😑
😑Mark Vega’s POV 😑
I paced round the hallway of the hospital lab. I’m awaiting the results of the DNA we conducted before Beck went home. I need to make sure I’m dealing with the truth. If Beck is really my son then I need to know that it’s hundred percent true
The doctor in charge of Tori’s case said she’ll need to undergo some surgeries. Her heart has issues and her internal injuries were too much. Also, she lost a lot of blood and either Trina or I will donate blood for her. Right now, they’re just trying to keep her balanced before they start anything
I sat down on the waiting bench and crossed my arms. I just hope I don’t loose my Tori. She’s the only reason I’m happy now. She’s my only source of joy after Veronica left me. I can’t loose my second Veronica too
Earlier, I transferred 100 thousand dollars to Monika. I felt I owed her a lot for all the struggles she went through. She also made me promise that I’ll take care of Beck and not allow him to suffer anymore. She cried and narrated how Beck has always been working his life out since childhood. I hugged her and consoled her, assuring her that I’ll make up for all the time he worked.
I believed he was my son but what made me start having doubts was when I asked Andre, the black boy, how old Beck is. He said eighteen. Tori is also eighteen. If Monika was pregnant the same time Veronica was, then Beck should be nineteen, going to twenty.
That triggered up some doubt and I decided to check our DNA without Monika knowing. And thank God, Beck is the understanding type
The lab technician came out and announced to me that the results were out. He handed me the envelope and I quickly looked through them.
My heart constricted when I saw the result.
Monika lied to me. Beck is not my son
😛Monika Oliver’s POV 😛
Nurse Tasha came to me at the back of the hospital
Me: is it done?
Tasha: yes ma’am
Me: good. I’ll transfer the remaining 5000 to your account now
Tasha: you have to make it ten thousand
Me: what?
She looked around
Tasha: Mrs Oliver, you think killing a person in this hospital is an easy task? This is one of the best hospitals in California. It takes skill to do what I’ve done. I took risk, pay me ten thousand as my remnant payment or else I’m going to sell you out
I scoffed and brought my phone, I transferred five thousand dollars into her account and left her. She can’t sell me out because we are in this business together. If she tells the police about it, then she’ll get arrested for murder too
I came back to the waiting room and saw Mark standing with a hærd face and his hands in his pockets
Me: Mark what’s wrong?
He didn’t look at me
Mark: Tori’s breathing has escalated. She’s not responding anymore
He stared at the glass on the door. The doctors were struggling to revive her
Me: oh no!
Her friends rushed in and stood behind us. The one with the red hair was p-nting nervously.
Trina, her sister was mumbling prayers. I looked at Mark’s face, it was filled with fear even though he was trying to act tough.
I’m so sorry to hurt you Mark. I feel bad. Tori is innocent but stubborn. I know if she lives, she’ll make sure she proves that Beck is not your son. And you’ll believe everything she says because she’s just like Veronica her mother, always standing in my way.
If Tori is gone, it will be Beck that’s left for you. You’ll have no other choice but to accept him. He’ll take the place of Tori in your heart.
I’m sorry Tori, but I’m doing this because of your stupid mother who took this opportunity from me back then. When you meet her, tender my apologies
Trina: nooo…. Dad
She clutched unto his arm as she scre-med. I looked into the glass, they already covered her up and were preparing to leave the room.
Her red-haired friend began to cry profusely while the bitchy one was looking like she was gonna kill. Her veins were visibly turning turgid.
Mark’s face fell. His countenance changed immediately. I know if he was alone right now, he’d shout and break everything in his way.
Me: no no Tori. Oh my God!
I covered my mouth and my eyes turned red.
My tears began to fall
I knew I’ve always been a good actress. Beck took that from me.
Just then Beck and his friend entered. He was looking confused. Mark walked to him and tapped his shoulder, I was happy they were bonding.
Then suddenly he scre-med as her body was being wheeled to the morgue. He ran off
Andre: Beck!!
He ran after him.
Me: what was that? What did you tell him??
Mark: that we lost Tori
I sighed sadly. I just hurt my son. I just back stabbed him. I hope he gets over her soon and enjoy his privileges as a Vega.
Mark: don’t worry. He’ll be okay
I nodded
Me: I’m so sorry for the loss Mark. I wish I could….
He placed his finger on my l-ips
Mark: ssshh, you don’t have to say anything yet. Time to talk will come
He moved back and left with Trina.
Time to talk will come? What did he mean by that?
😑Beck Oliver’s POV 😑
What the heck is happening? What the heck is happening to me? Why does the only good thing that came into my life have to go this way? First it was my dad, Jackson Oliver who died in a motor accident when I was just twelve. Now Tori dying in a motor accident too
I scre-med as I heard my head making stupid noises. I quickly crossed the road and ran to God-knows-where. I just ran till I got to where trucks were parked and the drivers were about heading out.
I approached one and tried to make myself look stable though I was having a tornado in,side of me
Me: hello sir
Man: howdy fella
Oh, he’s a cowboy. I didn’t even notice the cowboy hat he was wearing and the outfit too
Me: sir, where is this truck headed?
Man: headed for the Mexican border buoyo. You need a lift or something
Me: yes sir
He laughed
Man: you don’t call me no sir young fella. You ain’t gonna call me d-ckson, you ain’t getting on my truck buoy
I managed to crack a smile
Me: d-ckson
He tipped his hat for me
d-ckson : and what’s the young fella’s name?
Me: Beck Oli… Uhm Beck, just Beck
I wasn’t sure what exactly I was. Whether I should say Oliver or Vega
d-ckson: Hop in Beck
I went through the other side and opened the huge door. I entered and closed it while he entered through the drivers side
d-ckson : you ever been in a huge truck like this?
Me: yeah.
I used to drive huge trucks back home in Canada
He started the truck and began to move.
I don’t even know where I’m going or why I’m leaving without a decision. But I do know I’m running away
😛Jade West POV 😛
I sighed and walked out of the hallway when I saw Beck. I don’t want to see his drama over something that didn’t happen.
I hurried to Tasha’s office. When she saw me she quickly went to their closet and changed then came to me and we strolled out of the hospital premises
Tasha: is Tori out?
Me: yeah, they rolled her out. And the bitch was acting like she cared
Tasha: I told her to pay me ten thousand but she didn’t. She thinks I can’t do what I said
Me: it’s a good thing we’ve got real proof against her. Besides Tori’s not dead, there’s no way you’ll be found guilty
Tasha: so what are we going to do now? Tell the police?
Me: let’s talk to Tori’s dad
Tasha: is that him?
She pointed to a car driving out of the hospital gate.
Me: uhm, I’ll just call him and tell him to come back. Before he kills himself.
Tasha chuckled. I took my phone and called him, luckily he picked and I told him to come back to the hospital that there’s some news for him.
His car turned back and headed to the hospital
Me: you go find something to eat. I’ll go back to the hospital
Tasha: sure. Be careful and don’t break anyone’s arm
I cracked and ran back to the hospital.
Tasha is my immediate elder sister. She’s the good girl among us. My elder brother is a drug addict, and a robber. And she’s the only one that can intimidate us. She’s the boss. The good boss
Anyway Tasha gave me the news of what Mrs Oliver wanted her to do because she knows quite well that Tori’s my best friend.
Well, she connived with her boyfriend, the doctor and they acted like Tori’s dead. The room they transferred her to wasn’t the morgue but a different ward.
I have a recording of the place where she was telling her to kill Tori. Tasha told me that Mrs Oliver wanted to talk to her and I suspected something wrong so I followed her and recorded them.
The video and the payment alert from Mrs Oliver will serve as proof for her to be penalized.
