Nicole’s POV

Ten years ago,

“Oh! Its a rain Nicc! Oh my bad, there’s gonna be thunder soon! “She yelled running to me for protection, she hugged me tightly burying her head into my chest

I laughed hard pulling her away, always a scaredy-cat looking for protection
“I’m scared”she pouted looking at me with a pitiful eyes and I touched her forehead lightly with my first finger

“Here hop on my back”I lowered my back for her to climb and she got into my back as I carried her with me running away from the rain….

Present 😏

Chloe’s POV

“Hop on my back”I said to her when she complained of not going home with a stained skirt, she will be embarrassed when people look at her back

I would’ve persuaded her that with my sweater around her waist noone will notice but I wanted to have the pleasure of having her on my back

“Hop on my back”I repeated and she still didn’t do as I asked
I stood up properly trying to know her reason for not climbing into my back to find out that she was merely being shy

“Why are you being so nice? “She asked me
I was cut short by what to answer
“Just… Erm… Urm… “No words were formed after that

I lowered my back again infront of her
“Just hop in”I spoke trying to appear calm but my nervousness almost betrayed me

“I’m heavy and… ”
I grabbed her legs and loosing her balance she fell into my back and I smiled
I stood up interlocking my finger below her butts area

Her two long legs dangled infront of me and her soft body pressed against my back
She is warm… I thought feeling her skin against mine
She carried her back pack and mine as we pushed our way forward leaving the garage after the rain had finally stopped

Nicole’s POV

I waited for the rain to stop before rushing out to go look for Bella, she’s allergic to rain and I know that wherever she is, she was caught up by the rain

I wonder why she left like that without a notice, I panted after running for about thirty minutes that the rain stopped

Where might she be? I looked around the whole street still no sign of her, . .
Damn! She’s definitely going to catch a cold after this

She hates rain, oh my bad! I should’ve known earlier before she left
Then my thought struck an important message which just popped into my head
CHLOE! My mind said

Chloe went after her when she left, so if I will find her then I will have to find that jerk first
I will have to check him at home before I will know where Bella is

Bella’s POV

Ten years ago,

“Nicc, your back is so warm and relaxing, will you carry me like this forever? “I asked him and the nine year old Nicc started laughing

“Hey! What’s wrong with you Bella? Why will I carry you on my back forever? ”

“Because am your friend”I scowled
He scoffed before putting me down, this time we were infront of my house

He teased and I didn’t find it funny so I frowned at him

He pinched my cheeks and smiled….

Present😏

“Your back is so warm and relaxing Chloe”I said to him, the warmness made my cold to almost disappear
Even my pain had reduced already

He sings so well and he carried me too, why is he nice? Maybe because I look so pitiful
Yeah am pitiful enough to be pitied

“Really? “He broke into my thoughts tilting his head a bit so he could see my face
“Yes, its so warm “I repeated and he giggled

“Thanks, I just wish I will have someone I will carry like this forever ”

“Really? You don’t have one? “I asked him after his utterance
“Yes… “He replied

Silence fell between us, I enjoyed the cool breeze of the cool weather which blew its way to my face and fanned my nose and hair which was almost becoming dry by its gentle and warm touch on it

“Where is your house? I have almost neared mine”he asked and said at the same time
I looked up from his back viewing the front before me to see that we had gone far

“Put me down, my house isn’t long anymore from here… ”
“Tell me, I will drop you at your doorstep “he interrupted and I went calm again
Nicc never did this nor my mom or dad

He’s being too nice to a fault
I allowed him carry me through my directions to my place

He put me down sighing
“Thanks Chloe”I appreciated with my words coming deeply from my heart
He nodded putting his hand on my hair and shuffling my hair lightly

“Don’t go home when rain is falling when there is no me over there to save you”
He adviced and I was confused
What does he mean by that?

I wanted to talk, to ask what he meant but he was gone! I made to call his name to remind him about his sweater which he tied around my waist but he was really gone!

I sighed again getting into the house and then smiled remembering how he carried me like a baby on his back

I sneezed for the umpteenth time coming into the kitchen to get a glass of warm water when I saw my mom already in the kitchen preparing breakfast

“Good morning mom”I greeted and ACHOOO! I sneezed again

“I told you to always avoid the rain but would you listen stubborn girl! Now you’ve caught catarrh!! “She nagged as she heard me sneeze over and over again before blowing my nose

“Simple instructions, a child will never listen huh! Bella!!When did you become stubborn? “She nagged half yelling at me abandoning the eggs she was frying on the gas

I smiled hugging her from behind and resting my head on her shoulder
“Mom i’m sorry, I got no choice huh, I didn’t have a choice “I apologized before sneezing again

She pushed me away
“Don’t touch me before you infect me”
I smirked running out of the kitchen to go prepare for school

Hour later, I was done preparing for school
I packaged Chloe’s sweater which I washed and ironed clean for him into my backpack

I sighed again tying my hair into a knot and then hung my back pack loosely on my back
I walked out of my room and straight downstairs

Brad was already at the table eating, his hobby… I chuckled sitting down next to him to have some breakfast but stood up again after two seconds

“Why? Aren’t you eating? “Mom, who was also at the table asked and I nodded

I want to see Chloe before the class starts today
Eating might delay me, I will wait till lunch time at school so that I will eat

“No mom, bye love you “I blew kisses in the air almost flying out of the room

Ten minutes later, I was in the bus which drove me to school, I climbed down and rushed into the school

“Hey Bella”my friends cooed at me but I wasnt ready for that
All I wanted was to see Chloe, I hurried into our class and my eyes met Nicc

He sprang up from his seat immediately he saw me
He came to my side
“Hey! I looked for you the whole of… ”

“Where is Chloe? “I interrupted him
“Oh… “His face read an expression which I wasn’t ready to read at the moment

My eyes still wandered everywhere around the class and outside maybe to catch a glimpse of him but there was no sign of him anywhere

“Isn’t he coming to school today? “I asked curiously and he nodded
“Yeah, but I looked for you like crazy yesterday and… ”

“Why isn’t he coming to school today? Did he get sick?”
I cut him up again, I wasn’t ready for what he wanted to tell me, all I cared about now was to see Chloe

He shrugged staring at me with awe-stricken expression on his face

“He caught a cold”he finally revealed and I grinned
I knew he would catch a cold, after running into the rain and acting like it was all nothing is crazy!

“Is he that bad? “I asked again deeply concerned and he shrugged again with his face really down
“Yeah, so bad and I think he’s under the blanket when I left for school”

Oh my bad! I held my breath for a second, I knew he will catch a cold
I bit my lower lips
“Where did you go yesterday? I was so damn… ”

“Nicc, can I talk to you later? Bye!! “I flew out of the class running to meet Chloe wherever he might be….

Nicole’s POV

She shut me out! She never did that before
What is so special about Chloe that she left me between my words?

Tinge of pain tainted my soul making me feel like running to her and shoving her back to her senses, to remind her that she was talking to me and not some other nigga!

I boiled in anger

Eleven years ago,

“Hey Nicole!! I got er…. ”
“Bella you’re disturbing me! “I squealed in my tiny voice and the six year old Bella frowned at me

“You’re always harsh when talking to… ”
“Bella, must you talk? “I snapped again at her and she stopped talking only staring at me and then to my drawing book instead of hers

I pointed her head to look at hers and it didn’t take long before she looked at mine again
“Whoa! What are you drawing? A beautiful giant heart! “She exclaimed

“You like it?”I asked and she nodded
“Well you shouldn’t ”

I scoffed
“You? Why? “I asked her
“Who then? Huh? I want to know “she nudged me to tell her
“Leave me alone “I half yelled pulling myself away from her

“Tell me then, I want to know “she kept disturbing
“Not yet, cuz I will give it to the person in the future, I haven’t fallen in love yet”

She chuckled
“That would be me Nicc I bet you”she vowed and I smirked rubbing her hair…

Chloe’s POV

My teeth chattered as I lay curled up inside the blanket, I was cold! So cold!
I sneezed really feeling sorry for myself

My dad came into the room to check on me, he felt my forehead repeatedly
“Jeez! How did you get into the rain Chloe! I can boil water on your forehead!! ”

I didn’t respond, only my body knew how I was feeling
“Here, take some drugs”he offered me some tablets which were in his palms and then a cup of water

I gulped everything down except the cup lying back on the bed again
I won’t regret this but I need to go to school, I need to see Bella

She’s in school already, is she okay?
I sneezed again and my dad came closer to my head side, rubbing my forehead gently

“Its okay, “he assured me
“He’s still lying down? “That strange woman’s voice was heard, indicating that she was in my room

“Yeah so freaking hot! I think I will have to take him to the hospital before it gets worse”dad voiced out his fears for me

She came closer to my side,
“Chloe, how.. “She was saying touching my forehead when I pushed her palm off making her cut short her sentence

“Oh, I think he will be alright, its only cold that’s all”she assured my father patting his back and pecking him on his forehead

Bella sat down on Nicc’s bedside watching him shiver cuz of cold.
She was worried, she thought Nicc will die any moment

“Nicc won’t you get better? “She whispered to him as she placed another warm wet towel on his forehead to ward off some cold

He turned his head feebly to her smiling
“I will get better Bella, ”

“Is that a promise Nicc, I don’t want you to die”she squealed touching his forehead again

“Hey come of it! I’m not dying cuz I have many things to do in this life Bella”

She nodded her head and he pulled her down to hug him

Bella’s POV

I hopped down from the bus rushing to their gate, I knew this place, we passed here yesterday when he gave me a ride on his back

I held onto my back pack as I opened their gate and came into the compound
I rushed to their door and rang the doorbell

I waited for some minutes till someone opened it
It was Nicc’s mom!
“Mom”I called softly before greeting her

“Hey Bella, its been long I saw you
How you doing? “she asked cheerfully and I nodded my head

“I’m okay, am well”I replied my eyes looking around the whole room as I came in
“Nicc is in school already if you’re looking for him”she told me

“No, I’m here to see Chloe, where is he? “I asked and there was an unusual expression on her face

“Oh… Really? He’s sick and… “She pointed up stairs and I didn’t wait for further directions before I took the stairs

Chloe’s POV

My dad just left for his room when I heard a knock on my door,
I ignored it thinking it was Nicc or that jerkie mom until a soft voice called my name

I sprang up from my bed thinking it was coming from my mind when the call repeated itself again and I recognized the voice immediately which made me to be startled and shocked at the same time

I ran out of my bed rushing to the door and squeezing the door handle till it opened up confirming my guess on whom it might be

My jaw dropped staring at her
“Be.. Bella.. What… “I lost my words staring at her
She stood on her toes so her hand could reach up to my face, she streched out her hand to my forehead and felt it

“I told you that you will catch a cold but you won’t listen”she kinda nagged
I was short of words, standing rooted at where I was, I glared at her non stop

“Are you okay now? Your period… “I found my voice asking her when she interrupted me at the spot she heard me want to talk about her PERIOD

“I’m okay but you should be worried about yourself… Won’t you let me into your room? ”

Oh… I shivered making a way for her to pass
She came in sitting down on my chair as her eyes wandered around the whole room

I gulped hard still looking at her
“How did you get here? Why did you come? “I asked curiously and she darted her eyes to me

“I wanted to say thanks and erm… Here”she searched her back pack bringing out my sweater from it
“You forgot this “she added handing the sweater to me

“Thanks”
I muttered my eyes not leaving her for a moment
“And then I heard that you’re not coming to school today cuz of your cold”she reported and I felt my temperature

It had mysteriously gone down, I felt okay already
“Oh… Who told you that? “I asked her

“Your step brother”she replied and I almost scolded her for that word STEP BROTHER which she used on me but remembering that it was her, I forgave her immediately

“Oh that guy”I stressed the word GUY with my hand on my hair
“Yes, so are you okay now? “She asked with a show of concern and goose pimples travelled around my spine

“I’m fine now! So fine! ”
She perked up her brow at me before getting up from her seat and transferring her steps towards me

“I’m really fine”I repeated really nervous seeing her getting closer to me
“I want to be sure”she stood on her toes again, streching out her arm length so she could touch my forehead again

Her warm soft palm landed on my forehead and I wished she never take that palm off

“You’re okay now, “she sighed pulling her palm away and preparing to go
“Uhm… Are you going back to school? “I asked her nervously and she nodded

“Yes, you want to come? ”

Of cuz! That’s what I want! To be with her in any way I can!!
“Yeah… I mean… Wait a little and I will… I mean ”
Stutters won’t let me speak

“I will wait for you downstairs “she helped me out walking out of my room
Immediately the door banged close, my cheeks flushed out into a smile and I landed on my bed feeling so happy
