“Oh hey! “Brad greeted Nicc as he showed up in their house, he had been coming to their house for the past one week since he returned and he doesn’t seem to bear a grudge since he doesn’t only come to see Bella but also Mark who’s his friend
“Hey, Mark in? “He asked and he shook his head munching on a pop corn which he kept on stuffing into his mouth at intervals
“Nope, he just left with his mom ”
“Mom? Why? I don’t really think… ”
“But Bella is in”he interrupted him, he didn’t want him to cut into the interesting movie he was watching on TV
Nicc understood, that’s Brad’s haughty behaviour towards him all the time, as he made to go upstairs and see Bella, he saw her coming downstairs that instant
She beamed when she saw him, she came down the stairs in a hurry
“Hey! Happy Sunday”she said hugging him and he smiled
“Came by to see how you’re doing ”
“Or to see Mark”Brad cut in almost immediately he heard him say that to his sister
“Same thing “Bella chipped in too as he helped him to a seat if not that he refused to sit down
“No, I just came by to say…. “He looked at Brad who had his eyes all over his face and he stopped talking
“Uhm… I wanna take you out now “he said smiling and she nodded her head
“Okay”they both went out
They hopped into Nicc’s bike and drove off to somewhere nice like a restaurant
They settled down after ten minutes inside the restaurant and he ordered for a cup of coffee for the both of them
“I wanted to say… “He cleared his throat, he must say this thing out, what he had been keeping in for a long while now
How Chloe had been calling him and asking him off her but he never for once told Bella about it cuz of sheer jealousy and today, Chloe is coming back from China and had told him to tell Bella about it
He never told her even though he pleaded, he wanted her to be the first person he will see when he gets off the plane
He never told her how much Chloe have been missing her and has called so many times so he would connect the both of them to speak since they lost their phones after the incident, that’s why they lost contact with each other
He wanted to tell her also that he came back to stay but since she’s okay with someone else who is not him anymore, he will go back to Chicago, live beside lake Michigan and start up a new life
He won’t even further his education, he will just learn fishery and live peacefully, maybe fall in love again and then get married, give birth to kids and live happily ever after with them with no divorce to say the least
He wanted to tell her also that the main reason he came home after her was to clear his dad’s name and get him buried and he had already done that quietly with the help of his few relatives and not his mom at all
He has no place here again, the only place he thought he would have was her and she’s gone to another already
He messed up so much and he won’t ever stop regretting that single mistake he made in his life when he said *no* to her nine months ago
The waiter arrived with their orders and Bella thanked him sipping on her own cup of hot coffee gently and staring at Nicc who had been calm after saying just a few words to her
“Nicc you wanted to say something ”
“Yeah yeah… “He didn’t know where to begin, he shut his eyes tight for a while before he opened them again
“I will always remain your bestie for ever Bella, someone you will always lean onto, I’m sorry about what happened on Valentine when I jilted you”
“I’m not angry about it, atleast you made me find someone who’d care about me after you… “She paused, she felt like she had been so hard on him since then, she felt guilty
“I’m sorry I treated you with scorn, hating you, I’m so sorry”
“Its okay, I deserve it…. “He closed his mouth again, there is no need telling her that he’s going back, of how he had been since he came back or how he had been in contact with Chloe for the past week, it doesn’t make sense anymore… He believed so

“…. Uhm… Chloe is at the airport waiting for you”he blurted out and Bella stiffened in her seat
Tears came to her eyes immediately
. “What????!! “She stood up from the chair she was sitting
Nicc stood up after her giving him his phone as a call pulled into his phome almost immediately he told her that
“Its him calling you and not me”he said and she trembled as her hands turned shaky
She’s yet to believe if its true, she has questions that needs answers but now her mind seems to fail her when she saw the caller ID written boldly in Chloe’s name
She couldn’t be so sure, it might be one of Brad’s pranks
“Take it”he urged her pushing the phone into her two palms while she held firmly to it
Her heart was pounding, her head was singing while her mind blank and unable to think, her eyes didn’t stop sending out tears
She was angry, she was happy, she was sad, she felt like laughing, she was surprised likewise touched on what he might have gone through when he was there
She put the phone to her ear rushing out of the restaurant leaving Nicc standing and mopping to himself
He is the one running to her now and she keeps stepping away each time he takes a step closer to her, if not for his dad’s burial, coming home won’t have been an option cuz here reminds him that he has no one on his side again
Even the little girl from yesterday who always ran to him, cried for him, laughed for him, smiled for him and even wanted to die cuz of him dissappeared all of a sudden before his very eyes just cuz of a careless mistake he made
He smiled weakly staring at her figure out side…..
Bella’s POV
I gulped hard putting the phone to my ear after I had pressed the green button which indicated answer
📲Hello Nicc, I can’t find her here at the airport
His voice flowed out and I didn’t help but to cry the more
How much I’ve missed this voice of his
📲Chloe
I called softly and he couldn’t speak for the next three minutes to me which made me think that the line has gone dead so I spoke again to be sure if he was still there
📲Chloe

My heart melted almost immediately,

I sobbed
📲Why are you doing this to me? Why did you make me miss you so much? Huh? Why did you make me worry so much? Chloe….
I sobbed the more which made passers by to think that am mad

Nicc?? I turned around to notice that he was gone cuz his bike wasn’t there neither was he inside the restaurant

📲I’m coming to the airport now, which airport? Which one are you into?
📲We’ve left the airport just now, my dad is taking me home now to our house

I hung up, took a taxi and headed straight to my house
I need to dress up, look cute and beautiful for him

I rushed into our house to see that my mom and dad were back already from wherever they went to
“Hey where have you been? “They asked me chorusely but I couldn’t answer before flying the stairs to my room
I washed, dried myself with a towel, combed my hair, rubbed cream on my skin, wore my red flayed skirt and a black top with a red rugged jean jacket to march it up before I put on my black sneakers and lastly, my glasses…. He said I looked like his princess whenever I had my glasses on, I didn’t bother about make up
I picked up my little black bag with one long hand and hunged it loosely across my shoulders
I ran out of the house like a mad girl
Before my mom and brother could ask me what am upto, I think I’ve already found myself inside a taxi panting heavily
“Move faster “I hurried the taxi checking the time at intervals
I gulped hard when the taxi pulled up infront of the address I gave him
I climbed down and paid him
I sighed with my heart thumping heavily as I opened the gate of his house and came in to see him stepping out of his house immediately he saw me
Damn! Its seems like he grew taller, prettier, fresher since this last four months
He smiled running to me and then hugged me lifting me off the floor and for a second, I thought I was flying
“My love “he repeated what he called me earlier with traces of tears in his eyes
“I missed you “was the only thing I could get out of my quivering mouth
He didn’t let my feet touched the ground for about ten minutes as he kept staring into my eyes, he dropped me to the ground and my feet touched the ground as he hugged me again this time , gently as he rested his head on my shoulder and then brushed my hair with his fingers just like he used to
I began to sob silently and I noticed he was doing the same thing too
He held me two shoulders after some seconds of hugging me, he palmed my face with his two hands
“I won’t leave your side again “he promised me but I shook my head
“I won’t leave your side Chloe, you mean so much to me, I love you Chloe and I choose you over anyone, I love you so much Chloe and I really want to stay by your side “I voiced out what have been eating me up just incase something snatches him away from me again
He bent his head while I craned my neck up so I could invite his lips into mine just like the way he wanted my lips into his
He kissed me holding my waist and pushing me to himself
And as if the rain was just too jealous of the both of us began to fall…….
