BEHIND THE MASK BY GØDDY FRUITFUL EPILOGUE ERICA I walk out of the waters with just my b-ra and p-nties on as my long wet hair drips down my bare back. I sigh in frustration and sit on the bare beach sand. The cool breeze hits and car-ss my body warmly. it's been three days now on this Island that Leo made me disappear to and I'm tired, hungry and frustrated. I sigh again as I pack a handful of sand and throw it into the water and hiss continuously. "You're hungry?" I hear this familiar voice say behind me as a basket of food drops in my front and I feel a presence sit beside me with no visible body. "Show yourself you f-cking cunt.. " I stand and yell. And gradually his body appears sitting on the sand staring calmly at the sea. "Motherf-cker" I yell and aim at him but he was quick as he stands up and hold my hands restricting me from hitting him as he turns my back to face his body with my bare back partially feeling his bare chest. I struggle to break free from him but he is strong with his grip on me, it didn't last a minute that I stopped struggling cause it's a futile effort. "You're calm now?" he asks, his hot breath grazing my neck, and now, I'm kinda calm resting on his body. I can't get enough of his chest against me. I just wish he can take off the shirt so his whole chest will me touching me. I miss him already. "Leave me alone.. " I yell and he let go of me at once and I almost regret that. "I'm sorry.." he mutters and I scoff. "Sorry?." I yell almost in tears. "No, you're sorry after you left me here for three days all alone on this lonely island, what if a wild animal had eaten me up? no food I'm weak and you're sorry? F-ck you Leo" I yell again and slap him. "I wouldn't hesitate leaving a bullet hole in your head if I had a gun right now." I tell him. "You're hungry, you should eat. " he says calmly. Is he insane? "That's all you gotta say?.. F-ck you.. F-ck your food too" I yell and kick the food basket. God I'm loosing my mind. I pick the food flask and the basket as I take them all and throw them in the water. "F-ck. f-ck. f-ck.. f-ck you.. " I yell and breath raggedly. Just then I start to feel dizzy. I haven't eaten in three days, what'ya expect. I start to fall down. "Erica.. " I hear his voice as his hands hold me, his pair of brown eyes stares into my eyes before I pass out. *************** I open my lids and they're heavy as I close them, I try opening again but same thing as I close again and later I opened them fully. I look around and I'm on a comfy nice swing bed. "What's happening.. " I silently mutter to myself. I look around and I see Leo standing beside the sea stretching himself. I climb down and see lots of coconut shells on the ground. I guess they fell from the tree. Images from what happened flash through my head. From my frustrated self to Leo showing up with his food and my few minutes madness with me feeling weak and me passing out. I feel alot better now and strong.. I walk up to him. "Leo, what did you do to me?.." I ask him now calmly as I stand beside him. "Nothing, just fed you something to make you gain strength" he replies without looking at me as silence takes over with just the sea wave and the cool breeze disrupting the silence. "So what now.. " I finally ask breaking our silence. "Nothing... " he replies and clench his teeth like someone who's holding his tears or anger. "Look Erica, a covenant can't be broken, I've tried all I can to do so but I see I can't break it.. " "What are you saying.. " I ask him in a confused manner. "I'm gonna die, and there's nothing that's gonna stop it.." he says and looks away, he doesn't want me to see him crying. Now I remember, is he really going to walk in alive? "Were you serious about walking down there..? " I ask in panic pointing my hands to the sea and he nods and that breaks my heart. "No Leo, no.. that's not gonna happen, there must be a way.. " I weep and he holds me. "Erica listen to me, you still have a long way ahead of you, you're still gonna get married give birth work and many other things. I already made my mistake by selling my soul, I guess that has always been my fate tho.." he says with a sad smile as he sniff back tears. "..that boy in you", he says nodding at my belly.. "... Is gonna be a great boy, take care of him, make your mum happy. I'm going now, make me happy also by deciding to be happy. When I'm gone you'd be at home. " he says and tries leaving me. I hold him too.. "Leo you are not going, how do you want me to live without you.. " I say and weep. "..you might be a d*ck or a criminal but I love you Leo.. I really do" I tell him as I weep and he smiles sadly. "There's nothing we can do Erica, it's already late.. " he replies. "Even if I don't go, she's gonna come for me" he says and I understand, the queen of the coast. "In that case Leo.. I'm coming with you." I say firmly with a tone of determination. He smiles and drop his hands from my body. "That's not happening" he says and start moving backwards. I try following him but I couldn't move, I notice his eyes and it has changed to how it used to be when his power is on. He's holding me from following him. "Leo come back here.. " I yell as if my command is gonna stop him. He keeps walking backwards into the sea. "I love you Erica " I hear him mutter as he turns his back against me and keep walking deeper and deeper into the sea. "LEO!! " I shout.. "Come back please.. " I plea but he's not gonna come as I weep, I can't even move.. So sad as I keep I weep. He walks deeper and deeper into the water and the water level is already in his neck region and a greyish scaly glow appears in the sea and he's gone. "LEO!" I shout and try moving and luckily I could move as I try running into the sea but I vanish. ****************** I open my eyes and I'm on an unfamiliar bed. I look around and my eyes settle on someone taking care of something I don't know. "Leo" I mutter and the person turns to look at me. "Oh you're awake. " she said. "Mom?.. Where are we" I ask in confusion. "Where's Leo.. " I ask her. She ignores all my questions as she sits beside me on the bed and hand me a cup with some liquid in it "Drink.. It'll give you strength." she says and I drink. "Where is this place." I ask once I'm done drinking whatever liquid she gave me. "We're in a far country, you're wanted in Nigeria because they thought you helped Leo in all his plans and that all your patritisnm was just a staged play." she says. "What? when did that happen? I was gone for just four days and all this has happened?" I mutter in surprise. Mum smiles.." you've been gone for five months my dear.. " she say "What the.. "I mouth and gasp.. "How did you find me? " "My spirit located you five days after you were gone somewhere far and safe, I guess Leo kept you there. I brought you home and everyone was happy not until one day they came with those charges and demanded your unconscious body to be with them. I wouldn't wanna loose you nor your child.." she says nodding towards my belly and it's then I noticed I have a baby bump as I place my hand on my belly surprisingly checking myself out. "....so I took you away and here we are.. I've been beside you everyday knowing fully well you'll wake up one day. " she says and stands up. "So I'm gonna be a mother?" I mutter.. "Yes you are sweetheart.. " she says as she holds my hand to drag me up. "Come and clean up, I'm done cleaning you up on your bed" she says and drag me up. My feets were a bit swollen and I almost couldn't walk cos I wasn't feeling them. 4 MONTHS LATER Nurses rush me into the labour room cos I'm gonna give birth, my clothes were taken off and I was laid on the bed. "Push.. " one of the nurses say and very easy I hear the cry of my baby and I smiled.I felt no pain and no hard labor. The nurses were surprised cause the delivery was too easy and calm. The nurses went to clean him up and he was brought for me to see. A very handsome boy, a complete replica of Leo, fair skin brown eyes. I shed tears, tears of joy. "Fruitful.. " I mutter amidst the tears. "sorry what? " a nurse asked. "His name will be FRUITFUL.." I say again as my mum comes in. THE END
