Belina – batch 3

BELINA 


EPISODE 7

She was terribly worried cos she had
promised to call around 10pm when she was sure that her father would be asleep to
conclude on d time they would carry out their plan
Belina had explained everything to Prisca & even though Belina
didn’t like being a burden, Prisca had been able to successfully
convince her that moving in with them was d best option. She
had always wanted her around since she was the last born & also d only unmarried child of
d house. She had become lonely & Belina being her best friend had visited a couple of
times & she had enjoyed her company immensely.

She had
talked to her parents & they had supported their plan.
She looked at d time &
noticed that it was almost 12midnight & she became more
worried. She contemplated
calling Belina father in order to stylishly ask for Belina’s whereabouts but cancelled it immediately, then she picked up her phone &dialed Tony.

I opened my eyes & d
building I found myself started changing colour. It was after some minutes that my sight
regulated. The room was very dark that it took sometime for
me to see anything important. I remembered my abduction & made sure I was completely still. I
heard a snoring sound ahead of me & carefully as I could, I traced d sound & was not
surprised when I found two guys.
I remembered that I was drugged but it is either that d drug was not so powerful or that
God made me with extra tire for a time like this.
I noticed that they were fast asleep & I tried to stand up but
my legs were unstable. I gathered all d will in,side me & pushed my weight up. I swayed but didn’t dare fall for
fear of giving myself away. I noticed that my shoes were gone & I didn’t bother about it. As I tip toed out, I saw my bag extremely close to one of d guys & making a cross sign, I
bent to pick d bag. As I was lifting d bag, it mistakenly hit d guy lying beside it & i
froze. The guy turned & to my relief, he changed position &continued his sleep.
I creaked d door open & it made some funny sounds that i
expected that someone would have woken up but i did not hear
anything. I sneaked out of d place with my heart in my mouth,
hoping that there was no one outside & glory be to God, i found myself running towards
the road within seconds bare footed.

Tony walked around d hospital checking on patients. After he left
Richærd, he had gone to d hospital cos he was doing night today. Thanks to d little sleep
he had gotten during d day, he wasn’t feeling dizzy.
As he was going round, he saw someone that looked like Richærd but dismissed it. When he passed by richærd’s office & met d light on, he knew he must be in there. He opened d door
without knocking & saw Richærd sitting on his chair going through some books.
“what are u doing here?” Tony
asked clearly surprised.
“exactly what u are doing here”, Richærd replied & said,
“I need to check on d patient in ward C. I was just coming from
there & would be going there in d next one hour to ensure that he is still stable”
Tony stared at Richærd for some minutes, sighed & sat down.
“You are putting urself into too much stress Rich,why are u doing this to urself?” he
asked
“I am not doing anything Tony”
Tony stood up & walked up to Richærd; “u need to stop blaming urself for what
happened to Tonia. Look at urself, u look drawn &stressed out. u need to sleep”
he said sympathetically.
Richærd hated sympathy so he
flared up,
“I don’t need to sleep. I actually need to remain awake cos closing my eyes would
only compound my problem, & pls, stop fussing around me, I
am not a kid. I can take care of myself”
Tony sighed & made to leave.
“Tony” Richærd called.
Tony looked back at Richærd.
“I am sorry, I am just tensed up”
Tony nodded & just as he made to leave again, his phone rang & he looked at d caller.
“Prisca?” he said looking
surprised. He looked at d wall clock & noticed that it was almost 12am. He sat down back & picked the phone.
“Sweetheart?” he called
“Tony, I am sorry to disturb you”
prisca said.
He sensed something odd in her
voice and asked, “Are you ok?”
Prisca explained everything
including the fact that Belina
would be forced out of the
country by dawn if they did not
do something about it. Tony
listened attentively and when she
was through, he said, “Can you
sneak out of the house without
being seen?”
She replied in affirmative and he
said, “ok, I would be there in
fifteen minutes max. I would call
you when I get to your street.
Please honey stay in,side your
compound and not outside, I
would pick you up and we would
go to her house. We would
discuss how we are going to get
her out on the way”.
“Thanks darling, I am sorry for
the inconvenience”,Prisca
replied greatly relieved.
Tony dropped the call and
Richærd started his own round of
questioning. Tony explained
everything to him and Richærd insisted  on following him. After convincing him that his would be more useful in the hospital, he set out.

EPISODE 8

As I ran out of the house, I noticed that the place was an
uncompleted building. I looked around and the only thing that I saw was bushes. I saw a small footpath and started following
walking very fast. I had always been extremely afraid of the dark
and within seconds, I started contemplating going back.

The
leaves caught in my hair and my
feet hurt because of the several
stones I had dashed my bare feet
on. I was totally afraid, I heard
different types of sounds but the
most frustrating this was that I
had no idea where I was. I
thought of the possibility that
there might be snakes and other
dangerous animals in the bush
and fear gripped my heart.
I looked around again and saw
the bushes and my heart beat
skyrocketed several degrees and
I soon found myself running. I
heard footsteps like I was being
pursued but later discovered that
I was only imagining it. I didn’t
even think about stopping and
even the moon seemed to
darken. Just when
I thought the footpath led to the
end of the world, I saw a road
ahead of me. I sighed aloud and
ran faster until I got there. I
stood there trying to see if I had
ever been there in order to find a
way out but I came up with
nothing.
The road was desolate and I
started wondering if any vehicle
had ever passed it. I started
walking upwards but my feet
hurt so much that I feared they
would be bleeding and that
made my movements slow.
I remembered that I was with my
bag and I opened it hoping to
God that my phone was still
there. I zipped it and lo, it was
there. I switched it on and
noticed that the time was past
twelve and immediately, a
message entered. When I opened
it, I noticed that it was from
Prisca. She was asking me why
my phone was switched off. I
was suddenly grateful that I had
a best friend like Prisca. I was
about to call her when I
remembered that I had no idea
what area I was. I intensified my
efforts and I got to a T junction.
Thanks to the efficient work of
Fashola, I saw the street name
which read, ‘Boruwa lane’. I
instantly dialed her number and
all I heard was, “the number you
have dialed is switched off,
please try again later, thank you”.
I almost broke the phone on the
floor as tears of anger and
sadness flowed down my eyes.

Kelvin got home really late from
the concert and he had a
splitting headache. The headache
started immediately he set his
eyes on Belina and it accelerated
when she was called to the altar
to sing. He hadn’t seen her for
close to two years now and he
had wished that he would not
but fate always had its way.
He entered his house and
collapsed on the bed. He lived in
a one bedroom apartment,
although a big one. He was a
bachelor so his room was not so
decorated. His eyes were
swimming with tears but he held
it back.
His mind went back to the time
he met Belina and even though
he was not happy, a smile
formed on his face. She had been
sitting down on the field in
UNILAG reading a book when all
of a sudden, a guy walked up to
her. He had been watching her
for more than ten minutes when
that big headed goat
approached her. From her facial
expression, he knew that she
didn’t appreciate his visit and
instantly headed toward her. He
got there and wanted to beat the
life out of that guy but kept his
calm. The expression on her face
when she had looked at him that
day made him really feel
handsome. People had told him
he was good looking but he
hadn’t believed it until Belina
looked at him.
He stood up from the chair and moved to the fridge to pick out a bottle of cold beer. He had been friends with Belina for more than a year and after that, he had asked her out and after a little persuasion, she had accepted and then, just a week after her mother’s death, precisely six
months into the relationsh¡p, he
had blown them apart with his stupidity. He started drinking immediately he left her cos he became very unhappy &miserable. It was then he realized
that she was his source of
happiness.

Richærd was worried about Tony & Prisca being outside so late
but there was nothing he could do about it thought he knew that
Tony could take care of himself & his baby girl. He headed
towards Ward C even though it wasn’t 1am yet, not even 12:30
but he went there all the same.
He entered Deji’s room and just stood there, staring at him. After
some minutes, he went over to check on him. He cross-checked
his heart beat, the drip bag, the temperature and other things
looking for any anomaly but found none. He headed back to
his office but stopped at the door when he heard some sounds. He rushed back to Deji’s
bed as he noticed that he was moving restlessly. Richærd prayed in his heart and tried to calm him
down and just like a miracle; Deji calmed down and opened his
eyes.

Sparrow woke up to a full
bladder and he  stood up, went
outside and released the urine.
He came back in,side and just as
he was about lying down, he noticed something was missing.

EPISODE 9

He looked round d small room & just when he felt everything was intact, he looked at d place d girl was lying, saw nothing & his eyes w¡dened. He went to spanner who was still snoring &kicked him so hærd that he woke
up in an instant.
“Wetin be ur problem now?”
spanner asked
“Where is d girl?”
“Which girl?”
Sparrow hissed,

“Which kind foolish question be dat? Wey d girl wey we bring come here?”
Spanner looked round &
exclaimed,

“chai, our own don finish. I no no where she dey o”.
Without saying anything, they both set out to look for Belina.

As tony & prisca made for Belina’s place, they noticed that d road was empty & so they
made were not scared of encountering any traffic. Prisca was worried that something was wrong so tony held her hand using one hand to control d
steering.
“Don’t worry honey; I am sure she is ok. Uhhh, why don’t u
call her, she might have switched on d phone” tony said.
Prisca nodded & took her phone only to find it off. “oh, d battery is flat, give me urs” she
said. Tony gave her his phone & she dialed Belina’s number which she knew off head and it rang. She almost danced for joy when it rang & she heard,
“hello…”

Mr Badmus was trying hærd to find sleep but he could not. He was just too happy to sleep. He stood up again to check if he had
packed all he needed for d journey & discovered that he had packed everything.
He had resigned from his job as a cashier during d day even
though he had been on leave & was not due to return until d following week. He went back to bed & sighed happily.
His plan had worked & he just could not contain his happiness.
He thought about Belina &smiled devlishly. That stubborn bastard thought that she would
not be useful for anything, well I have proved to her that I always have my way whenever I want to; he thought.
He rolled on the bed and started thinking about life in London. It had been a while he travelled out & he wanted to ensure that he did not come back an average man. ‘I would be stinkingly rich again’, he said audibly b4 dozing off
I walked down d lane crying.
My life just seemed to be going bad by d day. I felt like dying & all of a sudden, my phone
went alive & I picked up almost immediately.
“Hello Prisca, oh prisca… thank God u called” I said still crying.
“What is d matter Belina? I had been calling like forever, are u
ok?” she asked.
“No, u only need to see me but I need ur help now, I would tell u everything later”
“I knew u were not ok, we are already on our way to ur house now, tony & I”
“No, no, don’t go there o, I am not there. I am at boruwa lane. I don’t know d area but that is
where I am, on d road”
“What are u doing there &where the hell is that?” she asked then paused to ask Tony
b4 she said,

“Tony knows d place, stay where u are baby,
we are coming”
The breeze turned cold & I looked at d sky & I noticed that it was about to rain. My tears
started coming more frequently & I tried to subside it. I noticed
that d bushes were moving & I thought it was due to d breeze. I moved slowly so that I
would be easy to locate. I heard
something that resembles footsteps & I stood completely
still but I almost passed out when I heard two people’s
voices coming closer.
I scanned d area quickly & saw a place where d bush was thicker & ran there silently. I entered d bush without thinking about d snakes &
scorpions I might find there. I saw two guys & I identified them to be d guys who abducted me; they were obviously searching for me. I
stood completely still even my breath seemed to cease. They
started scanning d area &when one of them looked in my direction, I expected him to see
me instantly & just pick me out of d bush but instead, he looked away. I breathed out but stood still for fear of giving myself away.
“Ei, I don die”, one of them said,placing his hands on his head.
“Ahhh, see gbege. Which kind sleep we sleep so, ehn? Wetin we go tell oga Tolu now?” d other
said
I scanned my head to see if I knew any Tolu but I didn’t.
“Oga Tolu palava no worse reach Oga Tunji own, him go kill us”,d first said. “na u cause am o spanner, why u sleep after I tell u say make u watch d girl”.
The other whose name I now knew was spanner said, “u no
well. Make I dey watch person when u dey sleep abi? Na me no sabi sleep?”
Spanner saw something & stopped.
“Sparrow….” He called &
pointed a place to him. They both looked there & I found myself
looking in that direction too. I saw a light that looked very much like a headlight. My immediate thought went to Tony
& Prisca & I started thinking of how I would get out my phone without catching d
attention of d two guys. I looked at d two guys &noticed that they were moving
backwards trying to hide themselves.
I brought  out my phone & dialed Prisca. She picked almost immediately & I spoke quietly.

EPISODE 10

Pric, where are u” I asked.
“I was just about to call, we are at Boruwa lane now but we can’t
find u”
“I can see ur head lamp so just come forward. The guys are after
me & they are few steps away from me. I would start running
towards u guys, so pls, open d door so that I can get in immediately u reach me” I said.
“ok”, she said & hung up.
I saw d vehicle coming ahead of me so I said a little prayer &came out of d bush. I started
running towards d car, waving at them so that they would recognize me. I noticed that d
footsteps I heard were not mine only so I looked back, lo & behold, they were at my heels. I ran with all my might & when I got to d car, it slowed down; d door was already open so I
jumped in &d car zoomed off almost running over one of d two.

Richærd smiled from d bottom of his heart 4 d first time in a long while. He looked at Deji who looked confused with a comforting smile. He looked weak & was fighting sleep as
he continually opened his eyes.
Richærd encouraged him to sleep & he later gave in. Richærd stood there for more than 10mins just staring at him &
later went back to his office.
He got to his office & knelt down beside his table &started thanking God. He had been praying 4d past 2days & God had just answered
his prayers.

As I entered d car, I collapsed on d back seat for some minutes, my eyes closed without
uttering a word. I opened my eyes & saw Prisca staring at me. I later opened my mouth & said,
“Thanks a lot; I would probably be out of this country by dawn if u guys hadn’t come for me”
“What happened Lina? How did u get there?” Prisca asked.
“Calm down darling, let her rest,she has been through a lot”,
Tony said
I smiled faintly & simply said, “I would tell u all about it later but what I know is that they
were sent by Tunji & I would wager that my dad has a hand in
it too”
“What? How can a father do that? No, I don’t think he has a
hand in it”, Tony said.
I laughed slightly,

“Well, u don’t know my father”
Prisca placed her hand on my leg comfortingly as I lay on d chair & there was no other
discussion until we got to Prisca’s place. I was so weak & I wondered if I would be able to
stand not to mention walk with my sore feet, but I did. I walked
slowly to d gate & waited for Prisca who was busy talking with
Tony.
Prisca walked up to
me some minutes after & I thanked Tony again b4 he sped off.
I had a warm bath in her bathroom. She
also did d same thing & after I had worn a night gown which actually belongs to her, I climbed d bed. All d questions she tried to ask me fell on deaf ears as sleep overtook me.

Sparrow & spanner had been sitting on d road for more than 15mins & they finally decided to stand up. They just
could not believe that Belina had been right beside them & they
had not seen her. They headed back to their base thinking of d best way to present d case to Tolu &Tunji.

Tunji stirred in his sleep as d 6:00 alarm started ringing, he reached for his phone & turn it
off. He was usually a late sleeper & most times, he woke up 8
o’clock or 9 o’clock. He had set d alarm yesterday when he
was about to sleep because of d level of importance today
possed. His phone started ringing shortly after & he ignored it at first, when it rang
again, he picked up d phone to check who it was & it was his
father. He stared at d phone then finally pressed d green botton.
“Morning dad”, he said.
“Morning Tunji, how are u?
“I am sleepy”, Tunji said grumpily.
“Hmm, I need to see u son,we need to talk”
“I am busy dad,ou cant see me till next month. I am travelling out
today”, Tunji said.
“What? Where are u going?
“it is none of ur business dad,
I am not a kid anymore”
“what does that mean? I am beginning to suspect ur
movements, if u get into trouble, don’t come to me o”
“Don’t worry, I can take care of myself”, he said and dropped the
phone.
Tunji hissed & stood up from d bed. He realized how good a decision it was to move out of
his father’s mansion. He had extorted enough money to last him a long while & he had
been given one of his father’s companies to manage so money
was not d problem. He had appointed someone to run d company cos he didn’t want to waste time in d company when he could be out having fun. He hadn’t been free in his
father’s mansion; his mother never monitored what he did but whenever his father was not in one meeting or d other, he had to behave. He had various girl friends & wh-res but they all
looked expired to him
immediately he set his eyes on Belina.
He stood up & went to d bathroom to take a shower. He had booked a morning flight so
he showered, dressed &stepped out of his room. He got to d sitting room & noticed
that he did not put off d TV yesternight. He put it off &went off to pick his soon-to-be
bride.
