‘Love, Grissel.’ Tom called ©vt dragg!ng th£ crib along with h¡m.
h£ ch£cked th£ kitch£n and th£re was no sign of h£r so h£ left th£ crib by th£ stairs and ru$h£d upstairs.
Grissel was swamped up with work s!nce morn!ng that Tom had to leave h£r home. It seems that’s all $h£ seems to be do!ng for th£ wh0l£ month h£’s been home.

h£ appeared beh!nd h£r and tickled h£r. $h£ didn’t notice h£ had come !n as $h£ was so focused on read!ng h£r files.
$h£ jumped up immediately clos!ng th£ files abruptly !n front of h£r.
‘Tom, you are [email protected]¢k already.’
‘Yes, it’s afternoon Grissel.’
‘Oh really, I didn’t realize that,’ $h£ glanced at h£r wrist watch and hit h£r h£ad slightly.
‘Of course, you didn’t notice because you’ve been up all day fl¡pp!ng through those bor!ng files.’
‘Th£y are not bor!ng papers.’ $h£ gave h¡m a cold stare.
‘Okay you w!n, but come on you need a break and I got a surprise for you.’
‘Surprise? I love th£ sound of that.’
‘Ahaaa.’ h£ muttered ₱v||!ng h£r off th£ floor.

‘Th¡s better be food and a delicious one as such.’ $h£ said putt!ng h£r legs !n h£r fl¡p flops.
‘I have someth!ng better. You will love it.’ h£ said on th£ir way d©wΠ th£ stairs.
With!n some few seconds th£y were fac!ng th£ new baby crib.
Grissel stopped midway and stared.
Tom quickly ru$h£d off th£ stairs and dragged it closer to th£ couch while beckon!ng on h£r to follow h¡m.
Grissel wiped a tear wh£n h£ was not look!ng and froze at th£ same spot.
Tom turned @r0vnd and found h£r still at th£ spot h£ left h£r.
‘Oo ooh, you don’t like th£ surprise?’ h£ asked mov!ng towards h£r.
Wh£n h£ got no response h£ taped h£r.
‘Are you okay?’
‘Yeah, th¡s is beautiful Tom?’
‘You sure ab©vt that, because you seemed lost a while ago.’
‘I’m sorry. I was j√$t overwh£lmed.’ Grissel clarified.

‘Why don’t I believe you?’
‘You should because I love th£ color you bought.’
‘I have good eyes th£n.’ h£ smiled coyly ₱v||!ng h£r to th£ couch.
Suddenly, th£re was a short moment of silence. ‘But Tom, I’m not pregnant yet.’ $h£ said ¢ar£fvlly !n order not to make h¡m feel disappo!nted.
‘You are not?’ h£ asked confused and disappo!nted.
‘Tom, you would have been th£ first to know if I were pregnant.’
‘Ermm but you look fat.’ h£ replied scratch!ng h¡s h£ad.
‘Ohh I get you now. So that was th£ reason you kept call!ng me fat lately.’ $h£ laugh£d hilariously and poked h¡s nose ₱|@yfvlly.
‘Don’t blame me wh£n you’ve been quite and cranky all month.’
‘Wow, for th£ record I’ve always been quiet and ab©vt cranky, probably work stress.’ $h£ clarified with h£r [email protected] support!ng h£r jaw.
‘And you’ve suddenly put on weight.’
‘So you figured we are hav!ng a baby.’ $h£ asked.

‘Sure, every woman put on weight wh£n th£y are pregnant.’ h£ replied with an embarra$$ed gr!n.
‘And you know that how?’
‘Trust me, I know th£se stuffs.’ h£ glorified h¡mself.
‘Ahaaa, Amy?’
‘Oh come on, Grissel.’
‘What? So far as I’m concerned, $h£’s th£ only one you got pregnant while I was busy plann!ng our wedd!ng.’ $h£ said before realiz!ng what came ©vt of h£r m©vth.
‘Wow, now $h£ got it all ©vt of h£r system.’
‘I didn’t mean it that way.’ $h£ tapped h¡m.

‘I know that sooner or later it will come up aga!n but believe me it was a mistake.’
‘I knew it was a mistake even before you told me th£ last time your sister was th£ Master m!nd.’
‘Thank you but I’m still disappo!nted we are not hav!ng a baby yet but we still have enough time to make some babies th¡s even!ng.’ h£ t£@$ed.
‘Ermm, Tom we are j√$t five months old !n th¡s marriage and I’m not sure I want to start mak!ng babies yet.’
‘Alright but I’m very hungry now.’ h£ said j√$t to avoid hav!ng any furth£r arguments though h£ wasn’t so sure ab©vt th£ wait!ng part.
‘Ma$h£d potatoes and Cabbage stew com!ng right up.’ $h£ wh¡spered while stand!ng up.

‘Could you not mash th£ potatoes? I would prefer it boiled th¡s time. Thanks.’
‘Sure, j√$t hold on. Let me get th£ crib to th£ next room.’ $h£ dragged th£ crib along with h£r.
‘Grissel, is everyth!ng alright.’ h£ called ©vt after a few seconds away from h¡m.
‘Why not?’ $h£ asked.
‘Because that’s not th£ way to th£ next room.’
Grissel was dragg!ng th£ crib to th£ kitch£n.
‘Oops, I j√$t had a lot on my m!nd.’ $h£ made to smile but Tom was smarter.
‘Whatever it is, I know you won’t talk ab©vt it but I’m always h£re if you decide to.’
‘It’s noth!ng. j√$t work.’ $h£ replied.
‘As usual.’ h£ said while Grissel retracted h£r steps upstairs.
Tom brought ©vt h¡s phone and s£nt a text with directions of a meet up.
h£ got a reply of change of time and venue. Tom scoffed and laid on th£ couch while wait!ng for h¡s food.
h£ was however thankful anoth£r week will start tomorrow.

‘Lisa?’ h£r aunt yelled ©vt from h£r room.
$h£ h¡ssed on h£r b£d and dragged h£r morn!ng gown on.
$h£ knocked on th£ door quietly.
‘Are you alone?’ $h£ asked peep!ng through th£ slightly opened door.
‘Annoy!ng. Who else would I be with?’ Julia told h£r wh£n $h£ entered with a mischievous gr!n on h£r face.
‘Who knows? Maybe Joe.’ $h£ walked closer to h£r.
‘Huh, who told you h£ was h£re.’ $h£ asked abruptly.
Melisa was confused and sat beside h£r immediately.
‘So h£ was h£re.’
‘Who was h£re?’ Julia asked hop!ng to cover up what $h£ said earlier.
‘Aunty, I h£ard you loud and clear. It’s not a crime to love Joe.’
‘Did I mention I love Joe?’ $h£ blu$h£d.
$h£ laugh£d so loud that Julia was confused. ‘It’s alright to be shy, but tell me how it went.’
‘How what went Lisa?’
‘Don’t be shy Aunty?’
‘I have no idea what you are driv!ng at but some D guy called.’ Julia changed th£ir topic.
‘D? I don’t know anyone by that name.’
‘h£ said to tell you to s£nd your account details for th£ payment of h£r daughter’s successful party as h£’s not able to reach you on phone.’
‘Ooh Dane.’ $h£ said anxiously and softly.

‘What’s that?’ Julia asked as $h£ didn’t h£ar what $h£ said earlier.
‘I would give h¡m a call later. But is that what you called me for.’
‘Yes, h£ sounded worried. Was it th£ Dallas event?’
‘Yes, that one.’
‘It’s been a month and you haven’t asked for payment yet?’
‘I left !n a hurry but I will give h¡m a call later !n th£ day.’ $h£ said scratch!ng h£r h£ad.
‘That’s alright and you look unwell.’
‘I’m f!ne, j√$t a flu.’ $h£ said quickly rais!ng h£rself off th£ b£d and walk!ng away.
‘Not so f*st. Who is D?’
Julia asked a Melisa seemed to f!nd it difficult turn!ng @r0vnd.
‘I told you h£’s th£ party guy.’.’
‘Come and sit with me.’ Julia taped h£r b£dside and Melisa reluctantly walked closer.

‘Aunty, I will get th£ payment sorted ©vt.’ $h£ tried to maneuver h£r way ©vt of th£re but Julia kept star!ng at h£r.
‘You haven’t gone ©vt s!nce you came [email protected]¢k.’
‘I told you ab©vt my flu, Aunty.’
‘I stay !n th¡s house with you and I’ve not seen a sign of flu on your face s!nce you got [email protected]¢k.’
‘Maybe you haven’t noticed.’
‘Lisa, you can talk to me. I know someth!ng is both£r!ng you.’
‘I’m very f!ne.’ $h£ replied.
‘I guess th¡s D guy wasn’t j√$t a client.’
‘h£ was.’
‘No, th!nk!ng ab©vt it now. I th!nk I h£ard h¡m refer to you as beauty.’
‘h£ did?’ A broad smile crossed h£r face.

‘Yes, it didn’t make any s£nse until th£ look on your face earlier wh£n I mentioned h¡m.’
‘h£’s no one actually.’
‘h£ is someone Lisa. Do you like h¡m?’
‘Why would you even ask me that?’ $h£ blu$h£d.
‘Because you are shy and can’t stop that smile from appear!ng on your face even if you want to.’
$h£ looked up at Julia and smiled yet aga!n. ‘What if I did? I believe I’m not a baby anym©r£.’
$h£ announced and changed to a ly!ng d©wΠ position while Julia also did same.
‘It’s alright if you like h¡m but what I don’t understand is why you are avoid!ng h¡s calls.’
‘I j√$t have a feel!ng h£’s not right for me.’
‘And how would you know that.’
‘Aunty, you’ve not met h¡m. Th£ k!nd of life h£’s used to I don’t th!nk I can keep up with it.’
‘Is h£ some k!nd of a drug dealer?’
‘No, I mean h£’s rich and th£se rich white guys are bad news.’
‘Okay, h£ has money and you have what?’
‘I can’t compare what I have to what h£ has.’

‘So?’ Julia asked star!ng at h£r.
‘So we are bad for each oth£r.’
‘Says th£ lady who has dated all th£ rich guys !n h£r cla$$.’
Melisa’s face was plastered with embarra$$ment. ‘But th¡s guy is j√$t ©vt of my league.’
‘You mean [email protected]’ Julia asked h£r.
‘Yes.’
‘I’ve h£ard that too before. Say someth!ng I haven’t h£ard yet.’
‘h£’s got an eight year old sweet daughter.’ Melisa f!nally mentioned h£r fear.
‘Okay that’s new.’ Julia admitted.
‘F!nally, you got my po!nt.’ Melisa muttered.
‘From what you j√$t said, h£’s rich, [email protected] and you like h¡m.’
‘Don’t forget th£ part that says h£ has a child.’ $h£ stressed.
‘How much like are we talk!ng ab©vt h£re.’
‘I’m not too sure yet but at first I didn’t exactly like h¡m but spend!ng a few days with h¡m and h¡s daughter I figured h£’s likeable.’
‘Do you want to give h¡m a chance?’
‘Should I?’ $h£ asked Julia.
‘I know you too well, th¡s guy has grabb£d your attention unlike th£ rest that came and left.’
‘So you th!nk I should give h¡m a chance?’
‘Yeah, but th¡s time don’t stress yourself go!ng an extra mile.’
‘Thank you. But what ab©vt h¡s daughter.’

‘What ab©vt h£r?’ Julia responded.
‘What if I can’t [email protected] h£r?’
‘I [email protected] you two.’
‘But aunty, Tom and I are family.’
‘Have an open m!nd. Besides you mentioned $h£’s a sweet girl. I’m sure $h£ won’t give you much problems.’
‘I hope so.’
‘You know what, I will ask @r0vnd ab©vt h¡s family so you don’t worry too much.’
‘Ooh, I have. Accord!ng to h¡s house h£lps, h£ lost h¡s wife dur!ng childbirth and has been s!ngle s!nce.’
‘OMG, my daughter is !n love.’
‘No, I’m not. j√$t try!ng to be ¢ar£ful th¡s time @r0vnd.’

‘Why don’t you return h¡s calls now?’
‘You are right. Wh£n I get to my room I will do that.’
‘j√$t use my phone. I’m eager to know how you work th¡s ©vt.’ Julia picked up h£r phone and dialed th£ number that called h£r earlier that morn!ng.
It rang twice and $h£ [email protected] it to Melisa wh£n it seemed Dane had picked up.
Melisa was quiet at h£r end while Dane kept say!ng h£llo. Julia kept gestur!ng h£r to speak ©vt.
‘h£llo, I know it’s you Lisa. If you don’t want to talk to me you must as well see me. I’m !n front of your gate.’
‘Huh!’ $h£ exclaimed f!nally.
‘Yes, red pa!nt!ng, black gate. I’m h£re j√$t come ©vt.’
Melisa dropped th£ call and stared at Julia.
‘What happened?’
‘h£ said h£’s at th£ gate.’
‘h£re? How?’ Julia asked.
‘You see what I was tell!ng you ab©vt? What k!nd of guy keeps ch£ck!ng me ©vt on my website? I’m sure that’s wh£re h£ got my address from.’

‘Relax.’
‘h£’s weird aunty.’
‘I guess you didn’t give h¡m options so h£ had to do whatever it takes to f!nd you.’
‘I would even take off our personal details from th£ website and leave our email. That should be enough for our clients to reach ©vt to us.’
‘Good idea, but h£’s still wait!ng for you.’
‘What if I don’t want to see h¡m?’
‘You will. Let’s get go!ng. ‘Julia dragged h£r off th£ b£d. Th£y both forgot th£y were still !n th£ir morn!ng gown.
‘Why do I feel like you are eager to marry me off because I give you too much trouble?’
‘Whatever,’ Julia replied signal!ng th£ security to open th£ gate.
Th£y both froze as Dane was stand!ng by th£ car be brought, probably a rented one. h¡s sea blue Jeans and white polo shirt looks nearly ironed as if h£ didn’t drive h¡mself.
By th£ time th£y realized h£ was !n front of th£m.

‘I guess someone j√$t woke up.’
h£ spoke up and reach£d ©vt to Julia for a [email protected] that was wh£n th£y both realized th£ir morn!ng gown was still on th£m.
‘You are welcome. Sorry we came ©vt th¡s way but let’s go !n so we could properly get dressed.
‘That’s f!ne.’ h£ smirked while Melisa looked on.
Julia shoulder tap h£r and $h£ smiled.
‘I don’t like men who stalk me.’ $h£ f!nally broke h£r silence.
‘Lisa.’ Julia called ©vt with a stern look.

‘Sorry,’ $h£ wh¡spered and walked away from th£m.
‘Sorry ab©vt that. Can we go !n now?’ Julia told Dane and led th£ way.
‘Thank you.’ h£ said and followed h£r.
