Episode 29
“Wow. I am really happy for you too guys.” Cathy said as tears of joy ran down her cheeks.
“Thank you”
“Let me Leave the two of you so that you can talk out your heart’s to each other.” Cathy said.
“No actually, am leaving as well. I need to prepare for a lecture and I need to make arrangements for our dinner to celebrate our engagement.” He said.
“Oh that’s so sweet of you Lawrence” Cathy said.
“Thank you” he said.
“If I may ask, why didn’t you propose her at the dinner this evening so that a lot of people can witness it?” Cathy asked..
“I will never take that chance in my life. So when a lot of people witness our engagement then what? Or what if she rejects me in front of all those people, how will I be moving about? Real men propose in private” he said.
“Really?”
“Yeah”
“Okay, whichever am really happy”
“Hey babe, i will see you later” he said to Hellen.
Lawrence left the room leaving the two of them in,side their room.
“You see how blessed you are! Some of us have to meet all sons of pharaoh who will abuse us before someone can engage us. You are really luck. Please take good care of this relationsh¡p.”
“Thank you Cathy”
“So, when are you going to tell your mother about it?”
“I can’t tell my mother.”
“Why?!”
“I am a cultured lady. I will tell my grandmother first who will in turn tell my mom”
“Which culture? You are just not sure of her reaction.”
“You might be right but I will tell granny first.”
“Okay, you can call her.”
“I will call her when you leave” Hellen said removing the ring from her finger.
“What are you doing?”
“Removing the ring”
“Why? Are you nuts?”
“Listen my dear, if a Bugatti can be put out of road to verify if it’s genuinely accessed, why can’t I remove my ring to first confirm if its a real engagement or not?”
“I don’t understand you. As for me, the day I will receive a ring on my finger, even queen Elizabeth will hear about it”
“Okay. Now go”
“But remember, even if you have been engaged earlier than me, am still order than you.”
“Okay I know, go now”
“Okay, what are we going to eat soon?”
“Cathy go!”
“Eeeh ba miss engagement”
No sooner had Cathy left the room than Hellen called her grandmother.
“Yes granny, I have good news for you.”
“What? Tell me” said grandma Dinah.
“I have been engaged by my boyfriend” she said.
“Wow. That’s so great news. Congratulations”
“Thank you ma”
“You are welcome. But you have to be very careful”
“Okay”
“Some men may engage you of they see that you are obsessed with marriage just to get under your skirt. Close your legs tightly. Are we together?”
“Yes grandma”
“Good. I will tell your grandpa about him losing his girlfriend”

THREE MONTHS LATER
The relationsh¡p of Hellen and Lawrence was still standing strong and was an exemplary one.
One the other hand, Cathy’s relationsh¡p with her boyfriend was growing stronger as well. The guy she met at the field trip proved to be a gentleman for her.
One weekend, the guy came to visit his relatives in town where the university Cathy went to was. They made arrangements to meet that evening.
Cathy, Hellen and Lawrence went to their meeting place where they were to have a double date. When the gentleman came to meet them, Hellen was so happy that her friend had such a handsome guy for a boyfriend.
He was tall with a light brown complexion which complemented well with his muscular body. He was growing a bit of beards which made him an every lady’s desire.
The two couple got chatting as they devoured the meal they ordered.
“Excuse us, I need to talk to my love in private” said Cathy’s boyfriend as he held Cathy’s hand and standing up.
“Okay”
Cathy the guy went up on the balcony of the hotel they went to.
“Come and see how beautiful this scenery is” he said to Cathy as he showed her the glimmering lights in the town.
“It’s so beautiful”
“Yes it is. Now I’m it without lights. It could be so dark”
“Yes it could be”
“That is how my life would be without you, that is why I am asking you please marry me” said the guy as he bend his right leg and opened a ring box to her.
Cathy couldn’t believe that her long awaited time had finally arrived. But emotions strongly came to her that she started crying silently.
“Cathy, are you okay?”
She just nodded in agreement.
“Then marry me” he said.
“I need to tell you something before I agree.”
“Okay”
“I don’t know how to say it. I would have told you earlier.”
“What is it? Tell me”
“I am sick” she said crying.
“Come on. We all get sick”
“I mean, I am HIV positive”
“What?! You must be kidding me! So you have been with me all this while and you couldn’t tell me about this?! You are so selfish” said the guy standing up as he closed his ring box.

He couldn’t believe that he had been kept in the dark for such a long time without being told such a very important details in her life.
“Am sorry, please” said Cathy.
“I don’t know what to say to you now. So what if I got intimate with you? What was your plan?”
“I didn’t intend to think of doing that. I was looking forward to telling you. It’s unfortunate I delayed till now”
“Anyway, right now I am disturbed. I don’t know what to do. Give me sometime. We will see what happens between us” he said.
After a while Cathy and her boyfriend went back to the table where Hellen and Lawrence were. Hellen noticed that something wasn’t well with her friend.
They then left after having their dinner.
Cathy and Hellen went to their room. Cathy narrated everything that happened on the balcony with her boyfriend.
“You mean he was on his knees proposing when you told him about it?” Hellen asked.
“Yes Hellen”
“Iyeeee. Am really sorry. Anyway, if he was meant for you he will come back”
“But do you think I did a good thing by telling him that at that point?”
“You did absolutely well. He has to make a decision with this information about you.”
“I thought I made a mistake.”
“No, you didn’t. Am actually proud of you”

Cathy’s boyfriend went back to his relative’s home. He was so depressed with what he had heard from Cathy. He didn’t expect to hear what he had from her. It was supposed to be a memorable day for them as they would have been officially called fiances.
When he got home, he found his relative sitted in the living room watching highlights of Manchester city and Manchester United football match. His cousin lived alones he was not yet married as well. The cousin worked as a clinical officer at a government clinic in town.
“Oh hey Cousy, I hope you had a great time where you went.” the cousin said.
“Not really”
“What went haywire? Did she turn down your proposal?”
“No man, I just stopped mid way”
“Sit down you tell me everything”
Cathy’s boyfriend sat down and explained anything that happened at the dinner.
“I feel your pain man. So what your way forward?”
“I don’t know man but I can’t stand marrying someone I know is positive”
“Yeah that’s true. But if you really love her, there is still hope for the two of you”
“Okay, how?”
“I guess your main fear is getting infected by her. There is modern solution to that. You can be taking what we call ‘PreP’.”
“Okay what’s that?”
“It’s a medication taken by a negative partner in a discordant couple. It make them resistant to HIV infection.”
“You mean no matter how much you do it live, the HIV negative person can not get infected?”
“As long he or she takes the drugs as directed, yes he can not get it through s€×”
“Wow. Okay. I will think about it though”
“Yes. And as your think about it also remember the love you have for her. You should also remember that some people get positive in circ-mstances they didn’t intend to find themselves in. And HIV is not that scary now like it used to be sometime back. These days people are so free talking abiut their status.”
“Thank you kaze”
Cathy’s boyfriend knew that he had a lot of thinking to do before making that decision.
The next day, Cathy’s boyfriend called her to let her know that hr would be going back. He further asked to meet her before going of which she agreed.
They met at the bus station and stood somewhere a bit far from where there were a lot of people.
“Cathy I am really sorry for how I reacted yesterday. I didn’t mean to hurt you, I wasn’t just expecting that” he said.
“I understand. If I were in your shoes I would have done the same”
“Thank you. About that ring I went back with, I am not sure of what to do next so I need sometime to think through before I could decide. But always remember that you are still so dear to me. I still love you” he said.
“I love you too. And as you make that decision, do not make your decision out of pity for me, do it for your own good.i will take whatever outcome that comes because this is the condition am in and I can’t do anything about it but live like this” Cathy said.
The boyfriend was touched with the words which Cathy said. They then hugged tightly as they bade farewell.
The boyfriend then got on the bus while Cathy went back to the campus.

3 YEARS LATER.
Both Hellen and Cathy graduated from the University. Hellen was working for a lucrative media house in the city while Cathy was a civil engineer for a construction company.
Cathy was still with his boyfriend who had now turned into her husband. They got married shortly after her graduation.
Hellen and Lawrence were also busy with the preparations for their wedding which was in few days. Despite people saying that they had been engaged for a long period of time, their wedding was to be an evidence that a period of dating has no direct impact as per say but how those two relate and hold their relationsh¡p.
Their big day finally arrived and it was so overwhelming to them seeing their close relatives and friends in audience. Dinah was so proud of her granddaughter who had kept herself pure until this very day. She wished all her other grand daughters did the same.
Whilst dancing, Cathy went to where Hellen was and whispered something into her ear which made both of them burst out loud laughing. Upto now we don’t know what they said to each other.
When the wedding reception came to an end, the new couple was driven to their prebooked hotel room. That was where they were to spend their first night together.
They got to their room and each went to take a shower individually.
It was time for Hellen to experience what she had been hearing from people, watching in movies and daydreaming about.
“I know nothing about how it feels but I want it to be memorable.” She whispered into his ears as they went on preparing each other psychologically for the ‘gassing session’.
The lights in the room were perfectly dimmed in order to encourage the mood for the act. In a blink of an eye, they were both nude as Lawrence slowly made her lie down on the bed. He then slowly and perfectly made sure that no key of on Hellen’s body was left untouched. This made Hellen get into ecstasy with the feeling.
Being satisfied with the prep, Lawrence slowly drew forward his ‘sword’ and slowly pierced into Hellen’s Oklahoma making her fidget as the mo-ns from her got inevitable.
After a while they were both in bed p-nting after reaching their targets.
It was a heavenly experience for Hellen.
“This was worthy waiting for.” She said as she grasped for breath.
“Indeed. Am glad you have enjoyed it” lawrence said.
“Yeah I really enjoyed. Can we go for another session?” She asked.
“What?”
“Yes please.”
“Okay but we have to wait for some time” he said.
“Okay. If this is how our marriage will be then I am blessed. I will now have to enjoy you this way TILL DEATH DO US APART” Hellen said proudly with joy written all over her face.
