THE HOSPITAL
Janne had just regained consciousness and was crying uncontrollably..
“She shouldn’t have taken her own life.. She should have just told me everything and I’d have forgiven her..Oh Vicky! She was more like a sister, not just a friend..”She cried.
“Janne put yourself together.. She’s gone and gone for life”Jide said but this made Janne cry the more..
“Pascal needs to know.. He is the architect of all these.. Plz call him”Janne said and Jide brought out his phone and made a call across to Pascal.

People who were present at the scene of accident contacted the hospital emergency team who rushed there and took the bodies to the hospital..
The Driver of the trailer died at the s₱0t and was taken to the mortuary while Fauzi and Uche were rushed to the ICU.
coincidentally, it was the same hospital where Vicky had died hours ago and Janne was currently on admission. This also happened to be Alhaji’s family hospital so it wasn’t hærd for the Doctor to recognize Fauzi.
He immediately put a call across to Alhaji.

ALHAJI’S RESIDENCE
“who amongst u shot the car tire?”Alhaji asked in fury.
The boys he sent to bring Uche and Fauzi to him ran back to tell him about the accident after which the Doctor called.
“Are u all deaf??”he scre-med h-rder
“I did”Jaja said
Alhaji landed him a thunderous slap that made him stagger
“You fool! Idiot!! Nincompoop!! Did I ask u to shoot at them? I said bring them here in one piece!! Now see what you’ve caused.. They were involved in an accident.. A terrible one.. Oh Allah have mercy.. Listen, if anything happens to my daughter…anything at all..All of you will taste my venom”He said and walked out heading to the Hospital.
Alhaji called Azeez to meet him up at the hospital.
They both got to the hospital at the same time and headed to the Doctor’s Office.
“Doctor how are they? How’s my daughter??”Alhaji asked
The Doctor sighed “Truth be told, it was a ghastly accident and only the mercies of God can bring them out of this alive. As of now, they’ve been placed on Life support..Yes! It’s that bad.. And I discovered the young man had previous cases of broken bones which are yet to heal completely and this accident just worsened the wh0le issue..”
Azeez looked at Alhaji in anger..
“Baba have u seen what u caused? Have u seen where your religious immaturity has led your own daughter to? What if she doesnt survive this? I hope you know that Almighty Allah would hold u responsible!!”Azeez said in anger
Alhaji just shook his head in regret.
“Calm down please… We’ll try our very best to make sure they’re okay but remember, We treat, God heals..and please, contact any relative of the young man so they can come and sign some papers for us to commence his surgery..his case is a critical one”The Doctor said..
Azeez nodded and brought out his phone and placed a call to Perpetual because he had her number from the last incidence.

An hour later, Perpetual barged into the Doctor’s office with Best who tagged along.
“Doctor how is my son?”She asked inquisitively
The Doctor sighed
“Madam, you have to sign some papers so we can commence surgery”
“Surgery!? Is it that critical? Please how Is my son doing? Can I see him??”She asked in panick..
Alhaji sat there, heads bent in deep regret while Azeez just saw shaking his head.
Perpetual turned sharply towards Azeez.. “You again.. You messenger of bad news.. What has u and your heartless family done to my son again? What??!”She scre-med rushing at Azeez.. This time, Alhaji stood up to rescue Azeez from the angry woman.
“Woman please calm down..”Alhaji shouted pulling her away from Azeez with the help of The Doctor and Best.
Perpetual turned to Alhaji to shout at him and just as their eyes met, they both froze in shock..
“Usman?”She called
“Perpetual!!”Alhaji asked in shock..
“What are u doing here??”She asked
“My daughter was involved in.. wait… is Uche your son?”Alhaji asked in fear, shock..
Putting one and two together, Perpetual’s eyes bulged..
“Fauziat is your daughter? and you’re the Alhaji responsible for all my son’s predicament??”Perpetual asked as tears rolled down from her eyes.
Alhaji slowly sat on the chair with his hands on his head..
Nurse Loveth ran into the Office in panick
“Doctor!!! The Young Man is jerking uncontrollably”
The Doctor ran out quickly as perpetual, Alhaji, Best and Azeez followed thus..but reaching the door to the ICU, the doctor locked it..
Perpetual sat on the floor crying while Best consoled her..
“Usman how could u?”She scre-med..
“Perpetual I never know that young man is your son. After the death of Aisha, Fauzia’s mother, you relocated with your husband and we lost contact.. How could I know he is your son”
Perpetual and Aisha were close friends right from Secondary school even with the difference in their religious beliefs.. In fact, It was through Perpetual that Usman met Aisha whom he later fell in love with because Usman lived around their neighborhood then..
Usman later joined the Military and started making money, then married Aisha… During those periods when Aisha couldn’t bear a child for Usman, Perpetual who was by then married to Uche’s Father(now late) was always coming to the house to stay with Aisha so she wouldn’t be depressed.
Perpetual later became pregnant and would always tell Aisha to touch her tummy and claim the blessings of a child.
“When u give birth, our children will get married”Perpetual would always say..
Finally, Perpetual gave birth to Uche…”am expecting a baby girl from u o.. My son’s wife”
They laughed at it..
Both were inseparable friends until Aisha died and Perpetual had to relocate to another town with her husband and children.
Years later, Alhaji who was now very wealthy was transferred to the same town where Perpetual lived but they had no means of communication anymore…
Perpetual weft heavily and Best took her to the reception to seat while they waited for the Doctor..
Just then, Pascal walked into the reception hall and eyes landed on Best..
“JESUS… ghost! Ghost!! He scre-med and ran out…”

EPILOGUE
She was dressed in black long gown with black scarf and a bulging stomach.. She held a flower kneeling beside the grave in tears.
“Uche this isn’t what we planned.. You said we’d conquer them all with me by your side.. You said you’d never leave me.. You said its me or no one else.. You k-ssed me and said you’ll love me forever.. Is this the Forever?? You died without speaking to me.. Without waiting for me.. Without k-ssing me one last time.. Uche why??”She cried helplessly..
She touched her tummy and smiled “But am consoled by the fact that you didn’t actually leave me all alone.. U left a part of u behind.. It’s been 5 months since your demise and your child keeps growing in me.. I came to remind you that I loved you, I still love you and I’ll always love you.. Keep resting in Peace my Soul..”She said wiping her tears..
Azeez and Hadiza helped her up as she limped with her crutches on her left hand..
Fauzi had survived the accident but came out with a broken left leg and walked around now with the help of a crutches..
She discovered she was pregnant for Uche a month after his death and vowed to keep it in memory of him.. After her visit to his grave, she bid Nigeria farewell and travelled to Saudi Arabia to start up life but promised to come back for Azeez and Hadiza’s wedding which was 2 months from then..

Janne and Jide rekindled their love and got married 3months after Vicky’s death…

Sharon, Pascal’s Secretary was pregnant for him…He told her to keep the baby with no intentions of them getting married.. Because he was already in love with Best who he has been going out with for months now..
In the pool where they were enjoying themselves one evening, Pascal pulled out a ring and said to Best..
“Please make me happy and be my wife..”
Best stood speechless glancing at Pascal who was on his kneels and the forming crowd urging her to say Yes..
“No.. I won’t be your wife.. “She said to Pascal’s dismay
The crowd shouted “Ouchhhhhhhh”
“but…. But why??”Pascal asked with a disappointed face..
“Because I don’t just want to be your wife alone, I want to be your best friend and companion.. I want to be with u forever.. Yes! I’d marry you!!”
Pascal stood up, slipped the ring into her finger and k-ssed her as the crowd cheered them…
