EPISODE 6.

Agbele return home. At their village park she was thinking what she is going to tell her parents. She just back her baby, held the sack that contained her baby clothes and her clothes. Tears was just forcing down from her eyes. Before she got home, some of the villagers who saw her don’t even recognize her again. Agbele completely look like an old woman. Her dressing, her face, everything about her changed. The suffering was much.

Immediately Agbele got home. Their compound was dried and scanty. Bush covered everywhere. Her thought her parents and her brother went to farm but the way their compound was dosen’t look like a place where people are living. Agbele broke down in tears, talking to herself. Mummy where are youu! Daddy where are u! Pls am sorry for everything. Adama and Adaji please u people should help me beg daddy and mummy to forgive me.

Mama Ummy their neighbor who use to take care of their compound was just coming back from the village Agbele mom was, she stayed with her for 3 good weeks, her initial plan is to stay for just one week and come back but the woman condition couldn’t allow come back as the woman was shouting, calling all her children names.

What made her condition worst, Agbele mom stayed for completely 2 weeks without tasting anything. The woman that was chubby before became lean and tiny like indomie. Immediately Mama Ummy saw Agbele she looked at her for like 5 minutes before she could recognized her. Agbele is that u? Ma,is me Agbele don’t you know me again? Agbele, Agbele hmmm.

The woman don’t even know when tears started flowing from her eyes. Ma, where are my parents and everybody? Agbele soberly asked. Agbele ur disappearance has caused doom to this family. Ma I still don’t understand, please tell me where are my parents and my brothers? I really want to see them. The woman was just weeping, shaking her head. Ma, please talk to me wt happened to my parents and my siblings? Agbele ur Daddy committed suicide over the death of ur 2 elder brothers. What? No oooo.

My Daddy and my brothers can never die. Agbele please take heart. Ur 2 brothers was killed by a snake when they crossed Alor river to look for u. Ma, please tell me is not true, what about my mummy? Agbele am just coming from ur mummy place now. Ma I really need to see her, please take me to her. Mama Ummy couldn’t reached her house again. She took Agbele to the village her mummy is taking herbal medication because no money to take her to a psychiatric hospital.

As they got to that village where her mother was, Agbele saw her mummy talking to herself alone with chain on her legs. A stream of tears cascaded down from her eyes. Agbele even find it difficult to recognized her mummy. Agbele don’t even mind her mummy condition, she ran to her, held her crying. Her mom that was not on herself for months came back to her senses small.

Agbele is that u? Where have you been? The woman was just talking slowly. Mummy is me, am very sorry for everything. The woman started asking how come about the chain on her legs. Agbele looked at her mom again and held her tight. Mummy I missed you. Agbele please help call ur Daddy. The question shocked Agbele. Mama Ummy couldn’t hold her tears. Agbele mom was eager to see her husband. That was when the woman came back to her senses but not fully recovered. Mama Ummy couldn’t tell her about her husband death that moment. It was even Agbele who told her mom the following day.

Since they was no means of survival and no one to help them except Baba Unubi and mama Ummy who use to bring food for them sometimes. Agbele started fetching water for people in that village. Per basin is 10 naira. The river was a little bit far. Sometimes Agbele would make 150 naira per day. That was what Agbele was managing to take care of herself, her baby and her mummy.
