CONDEMNEDIDOL
#EPISODETHREE
Roland Raymond drove out of the blue house.
He had just met his father and the man was still bent on him getting a second wife.
Vanessa didn’t love him. She didn’t have his time. She disregarded him,but he just couldn’t let go of her…
He finally admitted it,he loved that woman.
When he got to his office, his friends were there,watching one of Vanessa’s movies on the television.
Unfortunately, he had stumbled unto one of her k-ssing and making up scenes.
He nearly puked coolval stories.
His friends changed the television station immediately he walked in, but it was too late,the scene had taken effect on him. He sighed deeply to himself as he helped himself to the cushion, “What do you think of my wife?”
“She is professional, she plays her roles so well and she is so popular” Henry responded with a sincere glint in his eyes.
“You don’t see her as a pr-stitute?”
Richærd scoffed,”If it is about the rumors of she and that director, don’t ponder on it too much. All popular actors go through that even when married… and we thank God it was only once….”
“Once???if the Journalist hadn’t captured that moment, we will say she never did it at all, so because she was only captured once,she did it once???”
Henry looked at him with disbelief in his eyes, “You are not very close to Vanessa, are you???”
Raymond rolled his eyes,”Does she even give me a chance?her phone is always ringing 24/7…I er…even slapped her out of anger yesterday… it left a bruise again”he avoided their eyes.
Henry looked so disappointed, “You know why you still beat your wife?you have not told yourself you will never lift a hand on her ever…”
“But women can push men to the edge with their venomous mouth. Vanessa doesn’t respect me as her husband”
“When you show your wife love, she will show you respect and regard .Women are like that”.
Raymond sighed deeply to himself,” I am annoyed at everything!!! I just don’t want her k-ssing other men in the name of acting”
“When last did you touch your wife?”
“It is almost eight months now…”
The two men gasped.
“How did you do it?you cheated on her right?”
Raymond made eyes at them, “What on earth are you talking about?can’t a man abstain?”
Henry patted him, “you are a strong man”
Raymond stood up and paced, “Dad said I should marry another wife and divorce Vanessa,then get a male child”
Richærd was dumbfounded, “Do you intend to do that?”
“Why will I do that?I want to try again with Vanessa”
Henry smirked, “…You both are proud and that is a big problem. Are you sure you will be able to make babies this period?”
“Make sure you apologize to her for the hit,then you call your family doctor to treat her. Treat her like a treasure that she is”
Raymond sighed deeply to himself, “You always take Vanessa’s side…”
“…We always take the right side is the correct word” Richærd said with a wink.
When Raymond got home,his wife was not around.
Patricia was with her nanny. They were both in her bedroom. Patricia was spitting back her food into the plate and making everything messy. She was so excited when she saw him walk in. She ran to hug him tight. He k-ssed her cheek and wished for once,that they will be complete and happy.
When Raymond fed her,she didn’t spit again,she smiled and enjoyed her meal.
Immediately she finished her food,she rested on his laps.
He patted her till she slept…
After he had arranged his daughter on the bed and had given her a good night k-ss, he walked back to the room he shared with his wife.
She was back. She had even prepared his meal.
He didn’t say a word to her. He sat at the dining table to eat while she walked to sit before him and watched him eat. He was summoning courage to ask about her eyes.
Had he truly not been a good husband? he had never been sweet to her because of jealousy right?
“er…the maids told me that you were with Patricia, so I didn’t want to disturb your bond…” she shrugged, “I always felt you were ashamed of Tricia because of the down syndrome”
He was shocked at her mindset, “What exactly do you think of me?I love our daughter even more than you do”.
She was glad to hear him say that, “Can you join me?I want to give our daughter the best. I want her to feel special. She is our only child”.
He watched her wince.
He realized the bruise on her eye still hurt her, ” Did you see the doctor? ”
“About what?”
“Er…. I am sorry about the last night hit”
She was surprised, “er….I am sorry about how I spoke to you too”
He realized that it would have been better if they both understood each other better, maybe forget misunderstandings and get close, right?”Did you see the doctor?”
“Yes. He helped me treat the wound but he told me not to use a plaster”
“We will go tomorrow”
“Er….I won’t be able to use a plaster. I have a modelling event tomorrow, I will cover it with makeup”
“I thought we will all be together since tomorrow is Saturday”
She didn’t know what to tell him, “er…er…”
“It is alright, I will be with Patricia. You don’t have to worry”
They walked to the room after his meal. He wanted to take his night bath. Vanessa hadn’t taken her bath too, “Can we use the bathroom together?” Vanessa asked pleadingly…
They had only shared the bathroom together during their first year of marriage, but after her career ch¡pped in,they had split.
They bathed each other that night and Raymond realized that everything was not as hærd as he had thought . For the first time in a long while, they were both genuinely happy with each other. At least for that night, they had chosen to forget about everything . When they got out of the bathroom, he hugged her tightly with joy in his heart.
Her phone was ringing on the bed.
She pulled off his gripse and rushed to grab it.
Her directors were calling her.
She connected it,”Vanessa,memorize your script tonight. Tomorrow’s scene will be taken very early in the morning so that we will be able to take fifteen scenes in a day…”he disconnected the line.
Raymond’s heart hurt again as he watched her struggle out her script from her bag, “I am very sorry” she muttered guiltily.
He didn’t say a word.
He relaxed on the bed, fuming to himself.
When will his wife choose her family over her career?his heart hurt so much as he watched her act out her script, “Vanessa,do you love me?”
She was shocked at his question, “The scene is to be taken very early in the morning. The nature of my work is usually like that”
“Responsible actresses reduce their extreme commitment when they get married. You are making the directors still see you as the single Vanessa they once knew. Is it money you need?we have lots and lots of it. Is it fame?your father in law is the president of the country . Africans and Europeans know you…”
“What of Asia?I have only been able to get Philippines and Indians. Once I act that movie with Marky Leeves which is in few months time,I will be famous in China. Jackie Chan will be featuring as cameo. Your wife will be popular all over the world!!!Aren’t you happy for me?”
He sighed, “I just pray it will not be too late when you realize that,none of all these really matter”.
