All through the night,she was thinking about it.
Once she gets pregnant, they will never give her that lead role she had always wanted.
Was it the only sacrifice she had to make to keep her marriage? She and Raymond didn’t talk to each other the next morning, they were both were lost in their thoughts.
After five successful scenes that morning, she walked into her office and was in shock when she saw Marky Leeves sitting right there in her office. He smiled as he twirled the chair and their eyes met,”Marky Leeves?”
“I booked an hotel last night when I got to Nigeria. I came to tell you something important”
He had come all the way from Houston Texas to Nigeria?
She walked to sit on her seat and faced him, “Tell me what you want, Marky Leeves”.
” I had a dream last two days. You didn’t act the movie with us. Something came up”
Vanessa smiled to herself. She already understood where he was getting at, “What are you insinuating,Marky Leeves?”
“Don’t try to get pregnant! don’t try it!Tell that your rich spoilt brat husband not to even touch you at all. let us finish the movie first, okay?”
She fumed,”This will be the last time you intrude in my personal life. My relationsh¡p with you is strictly only on camera ”
He smiled to himself, “May 16th 2016. That day you got drunk during that movie, Lauren’s grave’, our k-ss,I still have it recorded”.
Her heart slipped, “What are you talking about?”
He chuckled, “I don’t care about that down syndrome daughter of yours. All I care about is for you to always compromise when it comes to me”
She glared at him, “Since you came all the way from Texas to threaten me,you can pick your leave now”.
He scoffed, “You only married Ray for his money. Look what he offered you, a child with down syndrome. My looks can’t even be compared to his an inch. Fans are rooting for us,even God is with us, why on earth are you refusing our relationsh¡p?”
“I love Raymond. I love my family so much. You can’t even imagine how I feel right now. If I leave Raymond, I won’t be happy anymore”
He was shocked, “It has always been me you loved”
She chuckled, “You?do you know what is love?love grows from knowing that person. I barely know you and you are talking about love. Stop looking for marriages to destroy, go and create yours” with that, she walked out of the office.
His presence was already making her stomach churn.
When she got outside, she sighed deeply to herself as she thought deeply about her life.
The new path she had chosen, there were two options, to pull her family to a better shape and correct all her negligence and the other, to act a movie in China and become famous around the world. Which of them brought her genuine joy?
Yesterday was her happiest moment.
Despite all her achievements, the only thing that made her overjoyed was when she was having a good time with her family.
Does this mean that you can have everything but still not be happy? her happiness depended on keeping her family.
Deep down in her heart, she felt it, her family.
She was going to have another baby with her husband and cancel acting that movie.
She dialled her husband’s number and he connected it, “Hello Ray…”
“Vanessa…are you alright?”
She sobbed as she realized how she had neglected her husband. Neglecting him didn’t mean she didn’t cook for him but she hadn’t paid attention to his feelings.
His indepth feelings as a wife should have done. “I love you Raymond. I love you very much and i am sorry for everything”
He sighed, “I know you feel guilty because of the request I told you about this morning, but sincerely, i am fine with with your decision. This is your job. I will be selfish if I insist you get pregnant despite the fact that I know a huge role is on the line”
“Raymond, you and Patricia are more important to me than anything else. You guys are part of me”
“Van, I am sorry about the way I spoke to you and hit you that night. I don’t want to hurt you anymore. Hurting you makes me feel irresponsible. Any responsible man doesn’t hit a woman. I am sorry for being an irresponsible husband”.
She sobbed, “I realize marriage is indeed a school. We learn everyday…”
He chuckled, “Hope you have eaten?”
“No.Marky Leeves is in my office right now…”
“He came to Nigeria?”
“He told me to not get pregnant before the Chinese movie. He even threatened me, but I want to get pregnant.I want to carry your baby again”.
“Come home, let us talk dear. Just calm down and come home”
“Are you coming home now?”
“I will come home only if you come”
“I am coming home now”
“Okay dear, I am coming to you. I love you” he said softly and disconnected the line.
She laughed excitedly.
They were going to be together.
She hugged him immediately she got home.
They walked to the kitchen and made potato ch¡ps and vegetable stew while the maids served the food on the dining table.
They bathed together again and ate lunch.
They watched movies and he looked up at her that night, “What did Marky Leeves threaten you about?”
“Last year,I got drunk during one of our movies and I and Marky k-ssed so he recorded it”
He sighed, “What do you think you should do?”
“I have taken a step. I want to get pregnant and cancel acting that movie”
He was surprised at her, “You really want to give up that movie?don’t do that because you are trying to make me happy. I am fine if we use protections until you are ready”.
“The movie is in three months time and that movie is going to be in form of series. It will go on for close to a year .I can’t deny myself a child because of a movie”
“Are you really sure about this?”
She smiled and hugged him. “Starting from today, we will begin to right all our wrongs starting from tonight .Let us make a sibling for Patricia”.
