Chapter Ten

Tracy burst into laughter as she watched Debbie run
Lydia also laughed seeing Tracy laugh
Tracy shook her head still laughing and pulled Lydia with her to class
They got there and walked into the class
They settled down for class and it was getting filled up with students
Debbie walked in with Alec and avoided Lydia’s look
She just didn’t want to get knocked out again
The teacher walked in and the class became silent
Lydia suddenly gro-ned in pain and held her head
Everyone turned to her and Tracy quickly held her when she was about to fall
“Lydia”she called in fear as Lydia gro-ned
Alec stood up and rushed to them and held Lydia as she passed out
Tracy scre-med as the teacher walked to them
“take her to the school nurse”the teacher said and Alec carried her in a bridal style immediately
Everyone watched him in shock especially his friends and Debbie
He ran out with her and Tracy followed
They got to the school clinic and he dropped Lydia on the bed
The nurse stood up immediately and rushed to Lydia
“what happened?”
“she just suddenly passed out”Tracy said and the nurse sighed
“and she is m*entally unstable”Alec added and the nurse nodded
She checked Lydia and found out she just passed out
“it’s kind of normal for it to happen but I would prefer and advice you to take her to the hospital now”
“can’t you do anything?”Tracy asked with tears rushing into her eyes
“no she needs to get to the hospital before thirty minutes”
Alec gro-ned and carried her back in a bridal style
He rushed out of the school and got to the parking lot
He placed her in and Tracy got in with her at the back seat
He entered and drove out of the school in full speed
He stopped at the nearest hospital and rushed out of the car with her in his hands

Tracy and Alec watched Lydia as she slept soundly
“so what did the doctor say?”Tracy asked Alec as he kept watching her
“he said its normal and she is okay as long as she doesn’t stress her brain”
“okay I will go take care of her bills”she said standing up and getting ready to walk out of the ward
“you don’t have to”Alec said stopping her
“why?”
“cause I already paid it”
“what?”
“yeah you heard me”
“okay i don’t know why you are doing this but trust me Alec if you hurt Lydia I will make you pay”she warned and he turned to her
He chuckled and turned back to Lydia
“thanks anyway”
Lydia suddenly giggled in her sleep and smiled
She laughed in her sleep and Tracy and Alec exchanged looks
“I love you Santa”she giggled and Alec smiled
“great now she is dreaming about you”Tracy said and rolled we eyes
“Lydia”Alec called and tapped her
She slowly opened her eyes and frowned
“Santa?”she asked confused
“yes Lydia”
“Santa”she called happily and sat up
Tracy frowned and scoffed angrily seeing Lydia only caring about Alec and not noticing her

“Lydia is fine,what are we doing here?”
“you got sick so we brought you here”she nodded and finally noticed Tracy
“Tracy”she called happily and clapped her hands

Tracy thought and smiled
She just has this feeling that Alec is playing with her feelings
“how are you Lydia?”
“am fine”she replied jumping off the bed
“lets go home”
“no wait you haven’t….”before Tracy could complete her statement she ran out of the ward and they ran after her

Lydia finally got home and Tracy gave her her school bag
“thank you Tracy”she said and pecked Tracy’s forehead before walking out
Tracy smiled widely and watched her go into the house
She entered and didn’t meet her mum in the house
“mother”she yelled walking round the house but couldn’t find her
She shrugged and walked to the kitchen
She was feeling hungry
She ate the left over food she found and was about to leave when her eyes caught something
She walked to the counter and starred at it
“a knife”she said and picked it up
She looked at it and smiled
“a knife is always used to cut something,so it being here means it’s used to cut something,I wonder what it is”she said still starring at it with a very serious expression
She suddenly starred at her body and smiled
She gasped when she thought of something
“mother left it for me so I could use it to cut my*self”she said and giggled
“mother is so nice”
She smiled and placed her hand on the counter
She placed the knife on her arm and suddenly pulled it down her hand with a full force
Her hand c*ut and blood gushed out of it
“blood?”she asked and shrugged
She smiled and was about to continue when her mother walked in the kitchen
“oh my God Lydia”her mother y*elled in fear and rushed to her
“mummy left me a knife to cut my*self”she said happily as I mother panicked looking at the deep cut
It’s like she wasn’t feeling the pain
“no I didn’t,Lydia why did you do this?”she asked in tears as she used a cloth to cover the wound
“mother why are you crying?”
“shut up,are you not feeling any pain?”her mother y*elled in tears
“pain?”
The blood was becoming too much and she was starting to turn pale but still she wasn’t feeling any pain
“oh my God,Lydia stay here,I will be back”
“okay mother”she smiled and her mother rushed out to get the first aid box to first stop the bleeding
The woman ran back into the kitchen and rushed to Lydia
“mummy why are you worried?”Lydia asked weakly as she was beginning to feel weak and unconscio us
“am Lydia”she said with a smile and fell to the floor loosing consciousness

Her mother scre-med and paced around the room not knowing what to do
She doesn’t have a phone to call an emergency number
She is really confused and disturbed
She needed to get Lydia to an hospital real quick
She sighed and bent down
She breathed in and out and carried Lydia in a bridal style with blood dripping on her
She walked out of the kitchen and got to the door
She struggled to opened the door and closed it
She ran into the streets and scre-med for help
Her mother sighed checking the time
It’s twelve in the midnight already and Lydia hasn’t woken up
She was getting worried but the doctor said everything was fine and it’s going to be okay so that made her calm a bit
Her mother sighed and thanked God for making her get to the hospital on time thanks to her neighbours
And also they paid Lydia’s hospital bills and she was so grateful for that
“mother”Lydia called weakly on the bed and her mother looked up at her
She rushed to her and hugged careful not to touch her injured arm
“Lydia are you okay?”her mother asked as she pulled away
“Lydia can’t stand up”
“yes it’s okay just stay there”
“mother why am I here again?”
“what do you mean here again Lydia?”her mother asked confused
“today in school Santa and Tracy brought me to a place like this and I was there for hours and they said I passed out”
“Lydia are you sure of what you are saying?”she nodded and smiled
“lets go home mother”she said happily and suddenly had the strength to stand up
She sat up immediately and removed the drip connected to her hand
Her mother flinched and rushed out to call the doctor
They both entered the ward back and the doctor took care of her hand
“I want to go home”she said happily and the doctor smiled
“well you can,just rest a lot”
“ma’am your daughter has me*ntal issues and she is over working her brain,I can see her in a uniform so how about to just let her stay home tomorrow so she can rest a lot”the doctor explained and her mum nodded
“doctor”Lydia suddenly called and he turned to her giving her a questioning look
“doctor you are cute and you look like an angle”the middle aged doctor chuckled and ruffled her hair before walking out
Lydia stood to and so did her mother
She held her mother’s hand and pulled her happily out of the hospital

THE NEXT MORNING
“mother Lydia wants to go to school”Lydia said trying to walk into her room to change into her uniform
“you will Lydia,tomorrow”her mother replied blocking her way
“Tracy will be waiting”
“yes and she will wait till tomorrow”
“mother”
“you are not going anywhere Lydia and that is final”her mother y*elled and she flinched
She suddenly sat down on the floor and crossed her legs
She looked up at her mother and her mother rolled her eyes watching the drama she is about to perform
“mother please,Lydia is fine”
“no Lydia you are not”her mother said and locked the door to her room
She held the key and walked away
Lydia sighed and slept on the floor
“twinkle twinkle little stars,how I wonder what you are,up above the…..”she sang and watched the ceiling
A thought suddenly came to her mind and she smiled
I wonder how Santa feels without me
Is he happy or sad?
Is he bored?
I bet he is sad about me not coming to school today

Alec pinned Debbie to the wall and k-ssed her in the classroom with everyone watching,Tracy rolled her eyes and looked away from them
She is so worried about Lydia
Why is she not in school?
Did she pass out again?
What’s wrong?
She thought feeling so worried about Lydia
“Tracy”she suddenly heard her name and snapped out of her thoughts
She looked up to see Daniel
She gro-ned and rolled her eyes
“what do you want?”she asked with a look
“I just want to come sit with you”he said sitting on Lydia’s seat
“that’s Lydia’s seat”
“yes I know but she is not here”
“what exactly do you want Daniel?”
“am just trying to make friends with you”
“well don’t”
“why?”he asked and she scoffed
“you think I don’t know what you guys are planning?..trying to come close to Lydia and I and hurt her?..well it’s not going to work so stay away from me cause am not one of those bit*ches like that one being k-ssed over there is so stay away from me”she y*elled and everyone in class turned to them including Alec and Debbie
Daniel felt embarrassed and slowly stood up
“am sorry”he said and walked to his seat
Alec finally noticed Lydia wasn’t in school
He shrugged and turned back to Debbie

Lydia thought and sighed
She will be so worried now
She will think am sick and am perfectly okay
The door bell to their house suddenly rang and she giggled jumping up immediately
She clapped her hands as she ran to the door
She opened it and saw a guy that lives around her area
She frowned and closed the door
She was actually expecting Tracy or Santa
She heard the bell again and opened it happily
She saw the same guy and was about to close it again but he stopped her
“Lydia”
“yes?”
“why didn’t you go to school today Lydia?”
“mother won’t let me and am tired and bored”
“Oh sorry about that,I actually came to deliver this to your mother”
“huh?”she said not understanding what he said but collected the mini bag
“bye Lydia”the guy said and ruffled her hair before walking away
“bye”she called after him and he waved back
Lydia starred at the bag and slowly closed the door
She sat down and looked at the bag again
A name was written on it
“Alvin Pharmacy”she read out loud
“Pharmacy?..pharmacy is a place where drugs are sold”she said and opened the bag
She saw drugs of different types and brought them out
She read what it is on it and gasped
“Cancer?”she asked and put the drugs back
She was about closing it back when she saw a letter
“time is running out Melissa”she read and frowned
Who is Melissa?
Could it be her mother?
She closed the bag back and stood up with it in her hands
“mother”she yelled walking towards her mother’s room
“am in here Lydia”
She entered her mother’s room and found her wearing a cap on her head
“mother why are you wearing that?”
“nothing baby I just feel like”
“okay there is a delivery”she said handing the box to her and her mother sighed in relief
“thank you,did you open it?”
“no mother”she lied even though she didn’t want to and knew it was wrong
“okay then”
“mother can I go to school now?”she asked and her mother smiled
“no Lydia just stay and rest”she said and Lydia sighed
She turned to lea ve but thought about asking her mother a quick question

“who is Melissa?”
“am Melissa”
