CHAPTER 33

“How is it doctor?” Kim asked as he drew out the test papers. He had a normal look on his face which kept Kim wondering what was in the paper.

“Check it out.” He said and Kim opened the paper carefully. She kept shaking as she did.

“What if it turns negative? What if I can’t help him? What if he does because of me?” Kim thought as she began to read what was written on the paper.

She smiled widely as she saw they had compatible blood groups.

“this is great! We can do it right?” She asked and the doctor sighed sadly. Kim furrowed her brows looking at him.

“Why? Why the face? What is going on?” she asked fearfully.

“Your other kidney is not so healthy Kim. If you donate the healthy one to him, there are chances that…” He stated.

“That what doctor? Finish it.” Kim said with tears in her eyes.

“That you would have complications at the end. And you would be needing a transplant too.” He explained and Kim bowed her head in sadness.

“So I can’t manage it? With drugs or anything?” Kim asked and the doctor nodded.

“You can. But are you ready to take that risk? There are medications you can use to maintain the other kidney, but it is a day-to-day basis.” He said and Kim sighed.

“Do it.” Kim said in determination.

“Kim…” the doctor called.

“I have the right to do what I want with my body. So please, stop trying to discourage me, and let’s do this. We don’t have much time.” She uttered and he nodded.

“Alright, Let’s get this done. We would be doing the surgery tomorrow. Are you sure you don’t want to tell him?” He asked and she shook her head.

“we are not saying a word to him. Thank you doctor, I would go to the ward now.” Kim said standing up and walking to the door.

“You are an amazing partner.” The doctor muttered and Kim looked back with a faint smile on her face.

“thank you.” She stated walking out of the office.

She walked down the hallway heading to Landon’s room when she heard someone call her from behind.

“Kimberly.” Alex called and she turned to look at him. When she saw him, she was surprised and angry at the same time.

“What do you want?” She asked as he approached her.

“That isn’t a polite way to greet a friend.” Alex said with a smirk on his face.

“Why are you here?” She asked as he stood right in front of her.

“I heard you are in the hospital so I felt it was necessary to come see If you are okay.” Alex said and Kim rolled her eyes.

“Like you care. Well, I am good and nothing is wrong with me. You can take your leave now.” She said turning to walk away.

“If you are fine, then why are you here? What is going on?” he asked and Kim sighed?

“This is none of your business. Why do you care about me anyways? You have been paid your money, what else do you want?” Kim asked angrily.

“I know you hate me Kim, but you should know I am the only one that cares about you genuinely. Landon just wants to f**k you and get rid of you.” He said and Kim approached him and landed a slap on his face.

“Don’t you ever say that again! Ever! I am no slut and Landon isn’t a greedy bi**ch like you.” She said and all the people around stood to watch them.

“Did you just slap me?” Alex asked in anger.

“Yes! And i will do it again if you talk Ill about anyone I like and care about.” She uttered and walked out of his presence before he could say any other words.

She got to the ward, and walked in. She still had a frown on her face, but immediately she saw Landon glaring at her she smiled faintly.

“What is going on? I heard your voice.” He said and Kim smiled sitting on the chair next to him.

“It is no one. Just someone trying to piss me off.” She said and Landon creased his brows.

“That is weird because no one pissed you off except me.” Landon stated and Kim laughed.

“you don’t piss me off Landon. You can’t.” She said and Landon smiled.

“I have seven days. So try to be sweet all the way you can.” He said and Kim shook her head.

“You are not dying Landon. We are not giving up on you.” Kim said and Landon sighed. He lost hope already, and he didn’t want to be reminded anymore.

“Your mom called.” He said and Kim creased her brows.

“Really? Did you tell you the reason for her call?” she asked reaching for her phone.

“No. must their be a reason? She wanted to greet you.” He said and Kim looked confused.

“That is a lie. My mother would never call to just greet me. Someone is wrong.” She said pressing her phone.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

“calling her back to know the main reason why she called.” She said and Landon’s eyes w¡dened.

“Ouch.” He gro-ned holding his tummy.

“Landon? Are you okay?” Kim asked jumping up and dropping her phone.

“My tummy.” He said and she placed her hand on it.

“I would call the doctor.” She said and was about going when Landon held her back.

“No. Leave your hand on me.” He stated and Kim nodded glaring right into his eyes.

CHAPTER 34

Kim stared at him for minutes and he felt a weird connection between them.

“Kimberly.” He called and she smiled softly.

“yes.” She responded and he kept his eyes locked with hers.

“Can I ask you for a favor before I die?” He asked and she shook her head.

“you are not dying Landon. You are staying here with us, many people don’t want you dead. And I am part.” She explained and Landon smiled faintly.

“I know you have faith that I wouldn’t die. But you should know, this is my fate. So please can you do me a favor?” He asked and she nodded with tears in her eyes.

“There are two things. The first is, I need you to contact my lawyer, I need him here.” He said and she nodded.

“And the second?” She asked.

“I want you to come closer.” He said and she creased her brows. She swallowed hærd and moved her head closer to his.

She turned her ear to his mouth and when she was so close, he held her face in his hand and made her face him.

“I am not whispering into your ears.” He said and she nodded.

“so what is this about?” she asked.

“I am not doing this because I want to, but I want to before I die.” He said and she sighed.

“what are you talking about?” she asked and he raised his head slowly to reach her face.

She looked down immediately, trying to avoid his intense stare.

“I want to k-ss you.” He whispered and she could feel his breath on her face.

“what?” She asked staring at his l-ips.

“Shut up.” He said as his l-ips covered hers. At first, she was shocked but then she gave in to his intense k-ss taking it slowly.

“Lan…” they heard someone say and they stopped k-ssing abruptly. Kim moved away quickly bowing her head.

“Hey Ruby,” Landon said looking at Ruby who was still in shock after what she saw.

“I… I can come back later. I just wanted to check up on you. I am sorry I barged in.” She stated and turned to leave.

“No, it’s fine. We are done, what’s up?” he asked and she walked further into the ward.

“I would take my leave,” Kim said and Landon stopped her by holding her hand.

“We are not done Kim, you can sit.” He said and Ruby glared at Kimberly. Kimberly exchanged the look and walked to the chair to sit.

“What’s up Ruby?” he asked and she diverted her attention from Kim back to Landon.

“I heard you were in the hospital, I thought they were rumors but then your mother contacted me, so I had to rush down here. You didn’t say anything to me.” Ruby muttered and Landon sighed.

“Don’t mind mother, it is nothing.” He replied and she shook her head.

“It is. She told me you need a kidney transplant. That is no joke, Landon.” She said and Landon shut his eyes in frustration.

“Mother is such a drama queen. You don’t have to worry Ruby, I will do just fine. And that reminds me, I need my lawyer.” He said and Ruby furrowed her brows.

“What for?” She asked.

“Can you just do as I say?” He asked and she nodded reluctantly.

“I will get to him now.” She said and he nodded shutting his eyes. She turned to look at Kimberly who was staring at the both of them.

“Why are you here? You should be at home.” She said to Kim.

“I should be here, not at home. He needs someone here, and I am here.” Kim replied and Landon opened his eyes to look at her.

“you don’t have to stay anymore. I am here now, you can go back to the mansion and keep it clean.” Ruby stated angrily. She felt like giving her a hot slap after seeing what she did to Landon.

She has been with Landon for more than three years and she has not even been given a chance to hug him, and now Kim came not up to a month ago and now she is k-ssing him?

“Ruby, I want her here,” Landon said and Ruby turned to look at him.

“Why?” she asked and Landon furrowed his brows.

“When did you start questioning me?” He asked.

“Why is it always her? What is so special about her?” She asked out of frustration, she didn’t want to say a thing but she couldn’t help it.

She was jealous.

“What do you mean?” Landon asked.

“you have always liked her since you met her. You sent everyone who wanted to be your maid away because of her. Why?” Ruby asked and Kim looked at Landon in shock.

“that is enough. Get out.” Landon commanded and tears rolled down Ruby’s face.

“I have always wanted you, Landon, for three years I have been hoping you would look at me the way you look at her, but you never did. I have been always loyal, I just want you to love me!” She said in a loud tone.

“Ruby, get out!” He said and she cleaned her teary eyes and dashed out of the ward.

“This isn’t over Kimberly.” She mumbled.

Everywhere was silent immediately and Kim stared at Landon.

“don’t say a word.” He said and Kim nodded swallowing hærd.
