Love and ego episode 5
“And who is this Derek if I may ask?” Rendell asked, sitting once again and staring at her with her expression she couldn’t read.
“Um…” she fiddled with her fingers, ashamed on how she had embarrassed herself already. “He’s my ex.” She quickly said.
“I see.”
Feeling remorseful, she began, “Look I’m very sorry for my outburst. I guess I overreacted.” She approached the chair now, picked and gathered her stuffs back into her purse then took her phone from the table where he had left it. When she was done, she nervously glanced at him and managed to ask despite herself. “So…about that job, um… do I still get it?”
“Know what I should do?” he asked.
“No…” she hesitantly replied and shook her head.
“Sue you for defamation of character…”
She gave a nervous chuckle. “You are kidding right?” She asked, the smile not reaching her eyes.
He stared at her for a while but before he said again, “Maybe not yet. I might just have the most beautiful effective way to settle this unpleasant scene you caused.”
“Right… fair enough…” she said in relief, still holding on to a tight smile. “I really can’t stand lawyers and courts.”
“I bet… You would probably die of a heart attack.”
“Maybe…” she tilted her head to the side, giving a subtle shrug. “So, about the job, do-“
He cut her short. “I’ll employ you only on a condition.”
“What?” she hesitantly asked, dreading his answer.
“I want you to bring some files to my house on Saturday.
“On a weekend? Why?” she asked with a puzzles frown now.
“Do you want the job or not?”
“Alright… I’ll do it…” she said with a slight pout.
“Good, now get out of here and exit the premises lest I change my mind and ask the guards to esc-rt you out of the building.”
She frowned at his rude words but had no choice than to obey. “I guess I’ll see you on Saturday then.” She said as she backed out of the conference room.
“Yea.” He said and after she left, he muttered to himself. “And hell I look forward to it.”
After she left Rendell, Claire angrily went in search of her ex where he was putting up with a friend who was a sc-mbag like him but fortunately for the assh-le she once made a big mistake of dating, she met his absence but she left a message with the roomie promising to come back or probably get her ex’s ass arrested.
On Thursday, Claire sat at her small table before her laptop then logged into a dating site of which she had been a member for two years. Her account had been dormant ever since she had hooked up with her ex through the dating site but he had turned out to be her worst nightmare, so she was willing to try again. She was lonely and felt that she needed a man in her life.
She needed someone to love her, call her, miss her, hug her, spend nights with her watching the stars or going on dates, in total, she needed someone to make her feel like a woman again. Scrolling through her profile which she used with a nickname @blue_doll, she clicked on the green s₱0t to indicate that she was once again active and men could visit her profile. When she was done, she shut her laptop, locked her doors and secured her window before going to bed, fortunately, her neighbours we’re quiet tonight, so she slept soundly.
Saturday Morning…
Bare chested, Rendell walked to his monitors after checking the time. He knew Claire would arrive in twenty minutes. He could see several sections of his mansion and its surroundings through several surveillance cameras he had had installed for security purposes.
He caught sight of a figure behind a tree somewhere, and from the way the person’s hand was moving, he knew immediately what was going on, smiling knowingly, he picked up the walkie-talkie, a two-way radio, pressed the button and said into it, “Isn’t a Saturday morning too early to be jerking off, Gregory?”
Greg fetched his walkie-talkie from his side with his free hand and said into it. “Morning to you too, Rendell. A man needs a little privacy, you know?” Gregory was Rendell’s friend and employee who took charge of the house and other matters in his absence. They had known each other since highschool.
“Then you should have done just that in the room.”
“I prefer it out here in the open where I can see the sky.”
“This is more reason why you need to get yourself a girlfriend, Gregory.”
“Coming from a man who has been single for the past three years, I’ll pass.” Gregory replied.
“At least I followed your damn advice and got on a dating site.”
“And I hope you get paired soon so you can get off my back, Rendell.”
“Right…” Rendell’s chuckled then turned a bit sober now. “Gregory, had Charlie, s₱0t, Brad and Hong been fed?”
“Yes, why?” Gregory asked, curious.
“Release them.” Rendell asked.
“What! Why?” Gregory asked, stroking himself slowly now.
“Just a little surprise I prepared for someone. Let’s call it a little payback.”
“Can I advise you against that?”
“No…” Rendell said as he sipped his coffee. “My day will be incomplete without it.”
“But Rendell, you know how aggressive those dogs are. The last thing we want is having them tear someone to shreds.”
“Just do it.”
“Fine-“” Gregory had barely answered that he began to gro-n as he finally ej×c×lated.
Rendell shook his head and said. “You disgust me, just clean up my damn lawn.” He walked away from the monitors to check his grandmother in her room while he awaited Claire’s arrival.
