Chapter Nineteen

🔥Amber’s POV🔥

I don’t know why Mrs Bella is being so unfair, how can she just merge Suzette with two cute boys at same time huh? If it’s Kingsley, it wouldn’t have bothered me alot because he’s a pain in the àss but Trevor? Damn! That woman is so in for it.

“Amber, Mrs Bella is so wicked.” Pearl pouted.

I’m sure it’s because she didn’t get the chance to pair with Kingsley.

“I know right? Look at how she paired those bunch of weirdos to cute guys then paired us with classless people.” I snapped.

“She paired that ogre you call a maid to Trevor and my Kingsley, Suzette is even trying to visit him at home.” Pearl lamented.

“The most annoying part is that she paired Kim with Lucas, I’ve always suspected that those two are you to something.” I said, obviously exasperated.

“You girls should try and calm down please, it’s not the partners that matters but the grades. Stop beating yourselves up over nothing.” Betty cajoled us which infuriated me further.

“Will you shut that dirty mouth? Are you mad? Who are you to tell us how to feel? Or is it because you were paired with Lucas you think you’ve grown wings? Come on get out of here! Fool!” I yelled at her.

“I won’t waste my time squabbling with you Amber, if you’re not happy with your partner, you can easily swap.” Betty shrugged and left.

“I hate that girl so much! She is so full of herself!” Pearl said, watching her back scornfully till she was out of sight.

“Just forget about her.” I sighed as I remembered her words, I will make sure I make Suzette swap with me. I will give her the ugly guy Mrs Bella gave me then take Trevor.

Where’s the bastàrd?

I turned and saw her sleeping in class, I felt the urge to slap her but I saw her face scrunched up like someone in pains. Haha! She hasn’t seen anything yet, I pray that pain kills her there. Nonsense! I hissed and was about turning when she ran out of the class with hands on her chest and mouth.

OMG is she Pregnant?

I was still trying to digest everything when Trevor ran after her, like, is he seriously going after her?

I rolled my eyes and stood up, following them immediately.

To my surprise, when I got there, Trevor was rushing out with her, carrying her unconscious body in a bridal style. He was heading to the school’s clinic.

What just happened?

I followed them there and watched as she was placed on the bed before we were asked to wait outside.

“What did you do to her?” I asked Trevor, who looked very worried which irritated me more.

“I have no answer to that.” He answered curtly before looking away from me.

I was about giving him a piece of my mind before the door opened and we rushed in.

The school nurse looked at us and shook her head

“Ma, what’s wrong with her?” I asked, anticipating to hear that she was dead because whenever doctors or nurses shook their heads sadly like that, it could only mean one thing, she’s dead! I can’t wait to break the good news to my parents Yay!

“She is fine for now but she needs to be taken to the hospital for proper treatment so her disease won’t escalate.” The nurse said.

“Disease? What disease?” Trevor asked worriedly.

I’m also curious to know.

“She has been diagnosed with a kidney disease which will kill her if it escalates so make sure she is taken to the hospital for drugs after school or tomorrow. Also, don’t allow her stress herself too much, she should rest, eat adequate diets and fruits. Her immune system is very weak as a result of poor feeding.” The nurse explained.

“Okay, thank you ma.” Trevor said and went in,side.

I stood outside trying to digest what I’ve just heard, kidney disease? The one I’ve always heard my dad talking about? It’s super dangerous and can’t be survived easily.

Wait… Does that mean she’s going to die soon?

Wow! What lovely news! I really have gist for mummy today.

“Won’t you go in?” The nurse asked.

“No ma, I will break down if I see her condition so I’ll go to class for some air. I don’t want her to die please.” I sniffed.

“She won’t die dear, just keep an eye on her and make sure her parents take her to the hospital.” The nurse said and I nodded before leaving.

💫Trevor’s POV💫

I knew something was wrong when I saw her suddenly put her head down in class that’s why I followed her when she ran out not caring if it was girl’s bathroom or not. I watched her throw up excessively then she passed out.

Uptill now, I don’t know how I was able to carry her all the way to the clinic, I was so worried thinking it was something severe not knowing that it was worst than I thought.

I stared at her beautiful face as she slept peacefully.

How on Earth did she get a kidney disease? This was all wrong! I can’t bear to lose you Suzette, I will make sure you eat healthy from now on. We haven’t spent time or had fun together so you’re going nowhere, you won’t die and leave me here.

You’re too beautiful to die.

I kept staring at her while thinking of how to take her to the hospital, I don’t know if the people she’s staying with will allow her rest because judging from the way, Amber maltreats her, she wouldn’t be able to rest.

I kept watching her and she moved then her eyes fluttered before opening fully.

“Wait… Am I alive?” She quickly sat up and glanced at me.

Did she think she was going to die?

“Yes you’re alive.” I answered and chuckled at her surprised expression.

“I thought I would die because the pain was so unbearable. It’s a miracle that I’m still alive.” She said.

“Thank God then.”

“What did the nurse say is wrong with me?” She asked.

I was contemplating whether to tell her or not but she needs to know so as to take care of herself as well.

“The nurse said that you have kidney disease.” I said.

“Kidney what?” She gasped.

“Yeah but she saw it isn’t severe yet so it won’t affect you.” I said giving her hope

“Are you sure?” She asked.

“Yeah, she also said you need to visit the hospital for special treatment and drugs as well so that it won’t escalate.”

“Oh, thank you.” She smiled at me.

“You’re welcome.” I smiled back.

💧Suzette’s POV💧

This really isn’t what I bargained for at all. Kidney disease? How am I going to get it treated? Aunt and Uncle won’t even dream giving me a dime even if they know what it might cause if I don’t get treated.

“Suzette?” Trevor called.

“Mm?” I answered and faced him.

“Are you alright?” He asked nicely which shocked me a bit.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Mrs Nurse, please can I go now?” I asked.

The nurse turned to me with a smile and nodded.

We thanked her and left while I and Trevor walked to class together. I saw Lucas running towards me.

“I heard that you passed out, what happened? How are you feeling now?” He asked, twirling me to check if I’m okay.

“I’m fine okay.” I laughed at his reaction.

“Are you sure? Your face still looks frail, Suzy, you know we’re friends please, tell me what’s wrong?” He pleaded.

“I have kidney disease.” I muttered to his hearing and he gasped.

He just looked at me without saying anything and in swift moment, he hugged me. I saw how Trevor’s eyes w¡dened and he walked away.

What’s up with these people?

Lucas pulled away from the hug and cupped my cheeks.

“Don’t worry, I’ll sneak you to the hospital tomorrow.” He winked and ran away.

I smiled brightly, he’s a lifesaver.

I entered the class and saw all of them giving me weird looks, I’m sure Amber must have spread the news, I didn’t mind. I walked to my seat and sat down gently waiting for school to be over.

Some moments later, the bell rang for dismissal and I sighed in relief because their gazes were suffocating. Since, I was advised to not stress myself, I guess I’ll wait for Lucas to drive me to Kingsley’s house tomorrow.

I took my bag then Lucas ran and pecked my cheeks.

“Goodbye!” He shouted and run off.

That guy is something else. I touched my cheeks and chuckled, Kim walked past me furiously while Trevor left with a gloomy expression as well. I ignored them and ran out,Amber had gone with the driver already, leaving me behind.

I sighed and boarded a cab with the little money I had.

We arrived and I stepped out, immediately I opened the door, Aunt Tasha dragged me into the house.

Her husband was sitting on the couch with Amber who glared daggers at me.

“Suzette! What is it that I’m hearing about you?” Aunt Tasha asked, looking like she wants to swallow me wh0le.
