Chapter 102 :- Punishment

As the night breeze blew gently and calmly in the premises of Riley’s matrimonial home, the atmosphere felt chilly and empty. The full moon rays that shone the dark night was soon covered by the passing clouds in the sky and amidst all of this stood Riley and the mysterious masked witch.

Despite sensing the sinister aura that clung around the masked witch, Riley stood his ground determined to take her out at all costs. He was angry about the presence of the witch cause his family’s dealing with a lot of pressure and this wasn’t the right time to deal with outsiders.

Riley ➡ You picked the wrong night and family to mess with, witch! My family is dealing with alot right now and I won’t have you causing any more trouble.
.

Masked witch ➡ What are you going to do about it human filth?
.

Riley ➡ I’m going to kill you. You threatened my son’s life and for that, I’m not going to let you leave this place alive.
.

Masked witch ➡ Let’s see you try that. DIE!!!
.

In that moment, the masked witch brings out a black dried up stick laced with charms and points it at Riley which she then unleashes on him by firing a red burst of magical energy but to her surprise the unexpected occurred. Just as the magical energy was about to hit Riley, it vanishes all of a sudden. The masked witch attacks Riley again and again but the outcome was still the same.
Thinking that Riley must have some kind of protection spell, the masked witch casts another spell but a different one. Out of nowhere, six ghost like arms emerge from the ground beneath Riley holding him tight and as soon as that happens, the masked witch casts her previous spell making it more powerful than ever. Riley who was yet to react stood boldly despite being in a dangerous position and his unconcerned facial expression made his foe slightly concerned.

Masked witch ➡ You don’t look worried?
.

Riley ➡ (silence)
.

Masked witch ➡ Do you have any idea what position you’re in? Those arms will drain away any protective spell shielding you and once this attack of mine hits, you’re….
.

Riley ➡ Just get on with it and make sure you don’t miss cause if you do, I’ll be the last thing you ever see.
.

Masked witch ➡ ARROGANT FOOL. DIE!!!!
.

Angered by Riley’s defiance, the masked witch unleashes the spell on Riley and just when it seemed that all was over for the latter, something unexpected occurred. Just as the red magical energy was inches away from hitting it’s mark, Riley uses teleportation to switch places with the masked witch. He stood in her place while she stood in his at the edge of her own assault and before the masked witch could realized what had happened, she was struck down by her own attack. The impact of her attack didn’t just knock her off her feet but it also shattered her mask exposing her identity.
Seeing that the masked witch was laying flat on her back moaning in pain, Riley approaches and stands above and stares down at her with contempt in his eyes. He stood silently for a while before speaking to the witch.

Riley ➡ I told you….. You made a big mistake coming here tonight. Now you’re going to die.
.

Doris ➡ How did you….do that? You’re human! You shouldn’t be able to do that.
.

Riley ➡ That’s what you think. Telling you wouldn’t even matter, you’re finished.
.

Doris ➡ Do you know who you’re dealing with?
.

Riley ➡ I don’t care. Nobody comes to my home and threatens to harm the ones I love. I’ve lost and sacrificed enough. Time to meet your maker.
.

Ensuring that the witch doesn’t escape, Riley matches her chest and then brings out one of his magical gloves and conjures a gun in his hand. After acquiring the gun, Riley points it at Doris’s face and just he was about to pull the trigger, Hadiza and the others appeared on the scene startling him.

Riley ➡ What are you all doing here?
.

Robin ➡ (gasping) Sir….. It’s a long story.
.

Hadiza ➡ Is Junior okay?
.

Riley ➡ He’s fine. Hold on, what made you ask?
.

Onuya ➡ We found out that Evlyn ordered the death on every anti magic caster around the world. Sir, your son is only one alive.
.

Riley ➡ What?
.

Hadiza ➡ It seems like Evlyn is afraid of the anti magic and your son might be our chance against her.
.

Riley ➡ My son is 10yrs of age. He’s too young to be pulled into battle.
.

Robin ➡ I’m sorry sir but his magic might be our only hope.
.

Riley ➡ That’s not for you decide but in the meantime, I would like you to deal with this trespasser.
.

Hadiza ➡ Is that…..Doris!?
.

Doris ➡ Hadiza!?
.

Riley ➡ You know her?
.

Hadiza ➡ Unfortunately.. Now everything makes sense.
.

Robin ➡ It’s over for you, Doris. You shouldn’t have taken up that bounty.
.

Onuya ➡ What do you want us to do with her?
.

Riley ➡ She has to die.
.

Robin ➡ Woah.
.

Riley ➡ What?

Robin ➡ Nothing sir.. I wasn’t expecting that from you.
.

Riley ➡ Well better get used to it. I won’t tolerate anyone trying to hurt my family.

Ebinoluwa ➡ What’s going on here?

🌹 EBINOLUWA 🌹

Being a bridge between 2 worlds isn’t as fun as one might think. It’s like being caught in the center of a scale wondering which side I should embrace. For years, I’ve debated with myself wondering which side of me I should choose but then I realized I couldn’t.
Embracing my humanity may seem like the logical thing to do but I’ve come to realize a basic universal truth. Humans claim to accept who and what they are but most of them want something beyond the ordinary. Many don’t like their limitation and they wish to be something more than they are.
Hence, there’s the other part of me which is magic and all. Magic may be forbidden by God but I honestly can’t deny it cause it’s a part of me. My mother’s blood runs through my veins and since she’s a witch, it’s futile to resist the temptation of magic. Truthfully, I love magic cause it’s the only thing that breaks my human barrier. With magic, I could do things that many humans wish to do. Life comes easy with magic but unfortunately I’ve come to realize that there are some things that cannot be solved with magic and even if they could, the consequences of those things are highly great. That is why that I don’t overstep my boundaries, I may not be an ordinary being but there are things that are beyond my control which is why I’ve remained neutral on which side of me to embrace.

Presently, here I was sitting on sky view of Mountain of fire’s church listening to Pastor’s James’s sermon . Unlike Morenike and Chris who were seated amongst the crowd, I preferred where I’m sitting cause I couldn’t stand the crowd. It’s been a while since I came to church but I’m glad I came tonight cause listening to James’s sermons always gets my mind off my worries.
However, today’s sermon was a little bit more serious and intense than usual cause it was all about the crisis that has been going on ever since Evlyn arrived.
Pastor James talked in great length about the current chaotic events in Ibadan and he blamed it all on everyone including himself. He said that the world is full of sin and people are acting as if it’s normal. He further said people of this generation were corrupt both in body and soul and that their fear of God was decreasing gradually everyday. He also predicted that dark times were ahead and if people continue to act this way, that we would suffer. Everyone in church mumbled as he said that, I read all their minds and I realized that most of them were disturbed. Eventually, he calmed everyone’s mind by urging them to pray to God and beg for forgiveness. After that, he said so many wonderful things and then ended his sermon.

An hour later, the church service ended and everyone began to leave for their home and in that moment, I decided to use the opportunity to go greet Pastor James cause it’s been a while. Shortly after I had descended from the sky view, I went into the church were I met Pastor James on the altar talking to Morenike and Chris. As I approached them, Pastor James saw me and then smiled as I got closer.

James. ➡ Good lord! Ebinoluwa, is this you?

Ebinoluwa ➡ Yes sir. Good evening.
.

James ➡ Good evening my child. Dear lord! You’ve grown into a splendid young woman. It’s been a while since I saw you. It’s a shame your grandmother isn’t here to see you.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Well, I’m sure she’s doing that from heaven.
.

James ➡ Hmm, may her soul rest in peace.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Amen.
.

Morenike ➡ Your sermon was fantastic as usual sir.
.

Chris ➡ Indeed. Sir, do you believe that dark times are coming?
.

James ➡ I know it. It may sound crazy but I feel it. There’s a powerful evil in our midst. Every night I try to sleep, I heard strange noises. I pray and pray and pray but… People need to beg God for forgiveness or he’ll abandon us.
.

Morenike ➡ Why?
.

James ➡ Like I said too many sin. God does not look or bless any place that is filled with sin. Just look at what our world is turning into. It’s madness out there and the devil is laughing and happy about it. Oh lord forgive us.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Can I ask you something sir?
.

James ➡ Yes Ebinoluwa, what is it?
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ What was the punishment for such sinners of our generation about 600 to 800yrs ago?
.

James ➡ Death of course. Infidelity was punishable by death and so were alot of other heinous sins. Times have changed now and our holy priests have become corrupt both Christians and Muslim like. If to say such punishment was carried out, the world wouldn’t turn out the way it is.

Ebinoluwa ➡ You’re right sir. It’s getting late and we would like to be on our way. So good night sir.
.

Morenike ➡ Good night sir.
.

James ➡ You too my children, drive home safely.
.

After that, We left Pastor James and went straight to the parking lot where Chris parked his motorbike. I was utterly and completed disappointed.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ I can’t believe you brought Morenike on this.
.

Morenike ➡ Chill Ebi, that’s his only means of transportation and why are you so upset? All you have to do is teleport.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Whatever jor.
.

Chris ➡ What was that question you asked Pastor James?
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ What about it?
.

Chris ➡ I hope you’re not doing what I think your going to do.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ No. I was just trying to understand my mother. She never killed humans before but now she’s into it. I thought she was doing it out of pleasure but now I see her motive.

Chris ➡ What motive?
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ My mother has always been over protective of any she cares about that she’ll go to any lengths to do so. Evlyn said she needed the sins of humans to open the gates of hell into the world and the only way to stop that is by eradicating the humans.

Morenike ➡ Ebi, that’d genocide.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Not according to Mom.
.

Morenike ➡ You can’t let her do that. She’ll lose herself.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ I know but the fact still remains. The sinful ones must be punished.
.

Chris ➡ That’s not for you decide. Only God gets to decide that.
.

Morenike ➡ Can we please drop this conversation? It’s getting crazy.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ (sighs) You’re right… Let’s.. OMG!
.

Chris ➡ What?
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Rotimi’s birthday is tomorrow and I haven’t gotten anything for him.
.

Morenike ➡ Relax, I’m sure you can find something to give him tomorrow.
.

Chris ➡ Where’s the party holding?
.

Morenike ➡ Probably at the 666 lounge.
.

Chris ➡ Omo. Well Ebi, looks like you need to take some pills before you get there.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Why would I take pills?
.

Chris ➡ A birthday party at the 666 lounge!? Come on, you know that things will definitely get wild.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Oh please. I’m not that cheap and I don’t spread my legs instantly like some whore.
.

Chris ➡ Just take my advise.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ You should be telling that to yourself and Morenike. When was the last time you both used protection?
.

Morenike ➡ Well.. That’s…
.

Chris ➡ Relax, we’re careful.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ That’s what every couple say until the inevitable finally happens. Odàbo, I’m going home. Don’t stay out late.
.

Morenike ➡ We won’t.
.

After that, I left the church and walked to some place where there was nobody in sight and teleported home. Immediately I arrived home, I heard some commotion outside the premises of the compound. Out of curiosity, I decided to go and check and when I did, I was surprised to see what was going down.

Ebinoluwa ➡ What’s going on here?
.

All ➡ EBINOLUWA!!
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Dad. What’s Doris doing here?
.

Riley ➡ Calm down Ebi. This witch was trying to kill your brother?
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ WHAT?? Why?
.

Hadiza ➡ Apparently, Evlyn has given out death sentence to all Anti magic users around the world. Your brother is the only surviving one.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ You traitor!! So you align yourself with Evlyn now? You’re going to pay.
.

Riley ➡ Don’t worry, she will.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ What are you going to do with her?
.

Riley ➡ Kill her of course.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ No.. That’s too easy.
.

Hadiza ➡ What do you have in mind?
.

🌹 RILEY 🌹

Most people say that there are fates far worst than death. I never did believe that but now I do. For a moment, I thought Ebinoluwa was going to conjure up some nasty spell that will slowly and brutally kill this witch but then she did something unexpected.
Right before our very eyes, Ebinoluwa transformed the witch into a tennis sized pebble. We were all stunned by what had happened. In that moment, Ebinoluwa took the pebble and handed it over to me.

Riley ➡ Is she dead?
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ No but she will wish she was.
.

Hadiza ➡ What did you do to her? Is she inside the pebble?
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ No, she is the pebble. Doris can see, feel and hear everything but she can never move. She’s trapped like this forever unless I undo the spell or Junior frees her which I doubt he will.
.

Riley ➡ What do you want me to do with it?
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ I don’t know. Her fate is in your hands. Now if you’ll all excuse me, I need to go bed. Good night. (walks away)
.

Riley ➡ Alright everyone, go home. Uh thanks for coming to rescue my son.
.

Hadiza ➡ Don’t mention it sir. Just make sure he’s stays safe.
.

Riley ➡ I will. Good night.
.

Honestly, I had no idea what to do with the pebble but I certainly won’t get careless with it. After Robin and the other 2 witches left, I teleported myself to outskirts of Ibadan and buried the pebble deep into the earth before returning home.
After returning home, I went straight into the house and headed straight to the bedroom where I met Christen sitting on the mattress with her hands crossed around her knees.
I knew she wanted to be alone but I missed her. She lovely so lovely as the moon rays shone on her smooth fair skin, she wore a shorty nightie and her long hair was loose behind her back. After I stepped into the room, Christen’s eyes fell on me instantly like a curious little girl staring suspiciously at a stranger. I remained silent and quiet staring back at her as well. We remained like this for some seconds before I began to approach her steadily.
By the time, I reached close to the bed, I joined Christen on the bed but I didn’t touch her right away. I waited for some seconds and when I tried to touch her, Christen slowly moved away from me but before she could get far, I grabbed, pinned and mounted on top of her. She struggled feebly for a while but I managed to calm her down using my own way. No words was spoken between us, just action. Whilst Christen was struggling, I kissed her which she then resisted by jamming her mouth shut. I had to maneuver my tongue to wedge her lips open before I succeeded in a full mouth to mouth exchange.
Christen didn’t resist for long, in fact, the kiss ignited her lust instantly. For nearly half an hour, Christen and I kissed each other like tonight was our last night, we tossed and rolled on our bed like crazy but we had no sex. Moments later, we laid and cuddled ourselves on our bed staring into each other’s eyes. I was thinking we’d remain silent like this until the next day but then Christen spoke.

Christen ➡ I know I’ve been difficult on you and the others but I will always love you. Nothing can change that. You’re the only hope I have in the cruel world which is why I did what I did. I can’t lose you again. I’d rather watch the world burn than to lose you.
.

Riley ➡ Honey, I don’t want to lose you too. This path you’re walking on will consume you. Our third child is yet to grow in your womb and I don’t want to lose you both. Let’s just focus on our lives and marriage first before Evlyn. She’s gone now but she’ll be back. Let’s use the little time we have left to pick up from where we left off. Okay?

Christen ➡ Sure.
.

Riley ➡ Come on, let’s sleep and see what tomorrow has for us.
