Evelyn’s POV
.
After my sisters left I laid on my bed till I dozed off and I was woken by the sound of my phone ringing.
I checked the caller and realized it Tom the police officer and I know why he’s calling so I answered.
📞 ” Hello” I said.
📞 ” Hi Evelyn, how are you?”
📞 ” I’m fine thanks” I replied.
📞 ” That’s great, well I’m calling to remind you not to forget about tonight” he said.
📞 ” Ugh… Tom, I don’t think I’m going to make it anymore” I said.
📞 ” No….no….I won’t have any of that, c’mon don’t be like that” he said.
📞 ” Can’t we do this some other time but not today?” I asked.
📞 ” Why?…..did something happened?” He asked.
📞 ” No, actually I was just going through some things” I replied.
📞 ” Then it’s a perfect opportunity for you to come, get your mind off it and if you want we can discuss about it together” he said.
📞 ” You don’t give up, do you?” I said.
📞 ” No I don’t…..so let’s meet at the location and I’ll be waiting for you….. please don’t disappoint” he said.
📞 ” Alright…… I’ll try” I replied.
📞 ” Okay then…..see you” he said then ended the call.

I checked the time and was surprised caused it’s almost evening already, I can’t believe I slept that long.
I can hear the worms in my belly waging war on each other since I didn’t eat anything in the morning.
I got off bed then went out of my room to the living room where I saw my sister watching a movie.
” Hi sis”
” Hey girls, how you doing?” I replied.
” Sorry about earlier…..we are just concern about you that’s all” Bella apologized.
” It’s alright…… there’s nothing to worry about” I replied then went to the kitchen to find something to eat.
” You girls hungry?” I asked from the kitchen.
” Yes, we haven’t had lunch yet” one of them said.

I made lunch Enough for everyone to eat and when Sarah and the twin returned from school they joined.
I didn’t eat much cause of the dinner, so I went to my room to dressed for my date with Tom with the help of my sisters.
” You should keep dressing this often…..you look like a princess” Anna said encouraged I smiled.
” Really?……well then I guess I’ll have to be going to dinner date everyday” I replied.
” Should we along come with you?” Betty asked.
” as what?.. Chaperone?, Stewards or babysitter?” Sophie said glaring at her.
” C’mon Sophie, she means well……Betty you can’t come with……I have to go alone” I replied.

After I’m done I bade my sisters bye as I entered my car and drove off to the restaurant.
It didn’t take long for me to find the place, I parked my car and entered.
I looked around looking for my date then I saw him waving at me and I went to meet him as he stood up.
” Hi” I said.
” Hi…. I’m glad you could make it” he said offering me a sit.
” Yeah…me too” I replied then sat down.
” I must say….Your beauty is exquisite, you made everyone turning their heads as you entered”
” Oh please……enough with the flatter already” I said blushing.
” Alright….. let’s eat, WAITER”

We ordered some food and we started eating and also discussing as well.
I get to know more about him and his family and also that he’s the first-born just like I am only that he only has one brother.
He joined the police force because it’s his passion and vowed not to be swayed by anyone or anything.
I smiled when he said and if he’s indeed as he claimed then there’s no reason that will hold me back from going out with him.
He’s actually been in two relationsh¡ps which didn’t work out unlike me who haven’t had anyone.
” So tell me more about your family” he asked and heaved a deep sigh then drank some wine.
” Woww, looks like you’re about to drop one big and a heavy secret” he said causing me to laugh.
” Something like that” I replied smiling.
” Alright…. I’m all ears” he replied.
” As I’m about to say this promise not to judge or think of us as a crazy family” I said and he gave me a look.
” Okay I promise…..can you just say this already…… you’re scaring me” he replied.
” Alright, uhhmm……you can say I come from a rich family, and I’m the first born of my parents…..first of ten children” I said and his eyes bulged out.
” What!” He said surprised and I nodded affirmative.
” You mean your mother gave birth to ten of you?” He asked.
” Yeah……I believe you already met them all in the car yesterday” I said.
” Oh yeah, seriously?….this is unbelievable, ten kids by one person?”
” Yeah….. I told you”
” No…no….I’m sorry..it’s just that I’m surprised that’s all” he said.
” It’s okay…..I know you’re probably wondering why my mother gave birth to ten of us” I observed.
” Yeah but if it doesn’t please you…..you don’t have to” he said.
” No….. it’s okay, my mother is uhm….In short let’s say my mom want a male child” I said.
” OH……now I get it” he said in realization.
” Yeah”
My thought went back to the dream I had and the things I knew that desty did, I keep thinking of what to do.
I really don’t have any idea or clue of what to do, I’m very scared and I keep asking myself…. what if he started hurting my sisters.
” Let’s leave that aside…..been in any relationsh¡p?” He asked.
” No, never have the time” I answered.
” Really?…….how come I find that hærd to believe, any man would love to have you” he said.
” Well let’s say, I’m the one not giving them any chances” I replied.
” Uuh….. playing hærd to get huh” he said and I smiled warmly remembering the word he said yesterday.
‘ I’ll make you pay for this……. I’ll make you all pay’
Could he actually mean that he’s coming for us?…….is he planning on getting back at us?….is he trying to hurt us?
” Hey……are you listening?” Tom asked snapping me back from my thoughts.
” I’m sorry…….. I’m so sorry” I apologised.
” Are you alright?….you seems distant” he asked.
” I’m okay….just thinking about something” I replied.
” I noticed you’re very low in spirit today…..it’s not like when we first met, is there something bothering you?” He asked concerned.
I think about the dreams I had and the incident about my brother then I decided to tell him about it.
” I wanted to discuss something with you and I’d really appreciate your advice” I said.
” Okay go on” he urged.
” I’ve been having this same terrifying dreams for almost seven years now and it keeps coming frequently”
” What this dream all about?” He asked.
” I saw myself drench in blood of someone else which I don’t know whom, I see myself been pursued”
” All this years I never know who or what it is that keeps pursuing me but now i do and realized the person is very close” I narrated.
” Very close to me, all this years I hate that person and now, I know he’s the one behind my evil dreams”
” So I ask for you opinion……what is your advice to me?” I asked.
” From my own perspective *I don’t think it’s no ordinary dream, if you keep having the same dream* over and over again for many years then it definitely has a meaning” he said.
” What do you think it means?” I asked.
” I…uh…I think it means evil is coming…. something bad is about to happen” he said.
” That’s exactly what I thought……I can sense it……I can feel it” I said.
” Or maybe it’s nothing at all…..it might as well be just a nightmare, something you don’t have to worry about” he said.
” Can I ask you one last question?” I asked.
” Sure”
” if you see a threat brewing and you knew if you don’t do anything about it, it will escalate beyond your control……what will you do?” I asked.
” Since it’s still brewing I’d find a chance to eliminate it immediately prevent me from I wallowing in regret” he replied.
” Is that the way of the police?” I asked.
” It’s the way of the world, you see an opportunity to stop a riot then take it and if you decide to do nothing……you will regret it” he said.
” Thank you” I said.
” I’m glad I could help” he replied.

We discussed some more about each other and then I checked my time and realized it’s getting late.
” I’m sorry we have to cut this short…..I have to get home” I said.
” Oh alright, let’s wrap it up……WAITER” he called on the waiter then settled the bill.
We both went out of the restaurant and He esc-rted me back to where I parked my car.
” I hope you had a great time and hope I wasn’t too boring?” He asked as we reached my car.
” Of course not……I was actually the one Killing the vibe” I admit.
” That part is my fault, you told me you’re going through some things but I insist you come….and I’m glad you did” he said.
” I had great time in there” I said.
” me too…….We should do this again” he said.
” Of course, I should go now” I said.
” Okay…..be safe” he replied then I entered my car.
” Bye” I said igniting the car then drove off.

Immediately I got home my sisters pounce on me urging me to gist them all that happened which I did.
I think about what he told me at the restaurant and I decided to do something about it.
There’s only one way to be sure and that is to kill him once and for all for the safety of everyone.
I took no joy in what I’m about to do but I fear that if don’t do anything about it, I’ll regret later.
I can’t let any of my family know about what I’m about to do cause I know they will never allow it.

{Few Days Later}

I waited for days for me to have the perfect opportunity to carry out my plan cause my mom always take Destry along with her.
I was growing impatient by the day and Destry also never ceases to stop his terror around the house.
There was a day I caught him threatening Bella in the kitchen with a knife in his hands, I was so scared that I had to take her away from him.
I couldn’t wait any longer and I’m scared that one day he might actually succeeded in hurting them.
Today as faith will have it mom is going somewhere very far and couldn’t take him along so he’s staying at home.
As usual mom pleaded for me to take care of her darling son, she begged me not to lay a finger on him even if he does annoy me.
I played along as well and decided to do exactly as she asked in other to carry out my plan.

In the evening after I’m done with dinner I serve the others leaving destry’s own in the pot.
I already bought a Poison to use for him and I was on the lookout to make sure no one is around.
I was very scared and my wh0le body is vibrating as I’m about to do this, this isn’t me at all but I have no choice.
I looked around one more time then opened the pot to pour the poison.
” Where is my food?” I heard which cause my heart to jump and I quickly hide the poison.
‘OhmyGod, ohGod’
” Where is my food?” He asked.
” Don’t sneak up on people…… it’s not good” I snapped at him.
” I didn’t, you’re too engrossed with whatever you’re doing, what are you doing anyway?” He asked.
” Nothing, I was cleaning the kitchen” I said.
” My food” he requested then I dished it out for him.
He took the food to the dining table and started eating, I went after him and went to sit on the couch.
I was thinking of another way to carry out my mind but couldn’t find any, I missed my chance.
” Heyy, what about my tea?…..Mom always make me tea…..So get me my tea now” I heard him said.
” Heyy, have some respect you this crazy ungrateful boy” Sophie said back at him.
” And if you don’t watch your tongue I will cut it off for you, African witch” he said to her.
” It’s Okay girls, it’s nothing” I replied then went to the kitchen.
I made the tea for him and quickly add the Poison before I get discovered, I turned it very well to make sure it’s well mixed.
After I’m done I went out of the kitchen and hand him the tea.
” You’re acting weird today…… acting all nice” he said.
” You’re Crazy, I’m doing all this because of your mother……so shut up and eat your food” I said then left.
I watched as he eat and drank the tea and I await the result, I was expecting the poison to take effect but nothing is happening.
I keep looking at his direction hoping for a positive result but everything looks fine to him.
Something is wrong…..the poison is supposed to take effect after five minutes, why isn’t it working.
Could it be that it’s not affecting him?…..No no no this can’t be happening, I really hope he doesn’t know about this.
” Sis, are you alright?” Bella asked.She must have seen my worried face.
” I’m fine…… I’m alright” i replied nervously.
” I’m done, someone should come and clean this up” Destry said.
” What are we, your slaves?…… buy some brain or repair the ones you have cause it’s malfunctioning” Betty said.
” Shut up Betty, Mom said the man of the house don’t have to do anything in the house” he said.
” Your mother is not here and you’re definitely not a man so shut up and pack the dishes to the kitchen” Sarah said.
” It’s okay girls……I’ll do it” I said and I can see surprise look on their faces as I went over to the table.
I parked the plate and keep staring at him in interval looking for any effect but nothing is happening.
” This one that you’re staring at me like this…..hope you have not poison the food?” He said and my heart skipped.
” Wh…wh..what ar..are you talking about?…… are you Crazy?” I stuttered.
” Relax….. I’m just joking,…..you won’t hurt me will you” he said then went to his room.
