Dean steps out of the bathroom, dressed in one of my big t-shirts and male boxers,,, I love sleeping in them.

He enters my room and shut the door,,, he looked down at the clothes with a frown.

“You don’t like the clothes?” I asked him.

“Whose shirt is this?” He asked me back.

“Mine”

“Yours?”

“Yeah!”

He pass me a look that says “I don’t believe you”. He sits on my bed with a cute pout, making my mind race back to the dream I had this afternoon.

I shake that thought off my mind.

“What did you make your face like that? You don’t believe me?”

He didn’t say anything, he simply scoffs.

Why do I feel like he’s acting like a child now.

“I swear I bought these clothes, I love sleeping in big t-shirts”

Wait,, why am I even explaining myself to him. Wether he believes me or not shouldn’t be my problem.

“I believe you!” He said.

I find myself sighing in relief.

We stayed silent for a moment until I broke it.

“So,,, you said you wanna explain what happened,,, you can start now”

He suddenly starts to shake.

“Cold!” He said.

“Huh?”

“I’m cold”

“Oh?”

How foolish of me,, I left the AC in my room on, forgetting there’s a kinda sick person in my room.

I quickly turn off the AC.

“Better?”

He shakes his head and continue shaking.

“Hold on!”

I rushed to my closet and bring out more blankets, I cover him with them and step back a little.

“Still cold?”

He nods and starts shaking even more. I frown and look at him worriedly, I reach out to check his temperature.

“Are you running a temperature?”

Unexpectedly, Dean caught my hand and pull me in, I fall on him. He sits me on his lap and hug me from behind.

“What are you doing?!”

He sighs…

“Now I’m not cold!” He said.

I try to get away from his hold but he didn’t let me, he’s so strong.

“You said you wanna explain and I gave you the chance to, then what’s the meaning of this,,, why are we suddenly hugging?!”

“My Phoebe, calm down, I will sure explain, but I can’t do that when I’m cold”

“But I’ve turn off the AC, I covered you with lots of blankets,,, aren’t those enough to keep you warm?”

“No, your body heat is all I need!” He said.

I huffed.

|| Ian (Dean) ||

I smiled in satisfaction as I wrap my arms around my Phoebe’s wa-ist,,, I pull her even closer to me.

I hear her huff.

“I don’t have any body heat!” She said angrily.

I chuckle.

“Of course, you have!”

I can imagine her rolling her eyes.

“You are just being childish!”

“Anything to get you in my arms” I whisper in her ear.

I can only show different emotions in front of her,,,, it has been that way since we were kids.

She was the only one that could get me to smile,,, though I love my brother and I smile at him too,,, but Phoebe has always been different.

“Are you still gonna explain?” She asked.

“Of course!”

“I’m listening then!”

“So, I didn’t know why Mom wanted me to join the army”

10 years ago,,,,,

(Teenage Ian/Dean, 16years old)

“Dean, I can’t complete my homework” Phoebe complained.

“Hey, Phoebe, come, I can help you” Javier told her.

She shakes her head and tug on my p-nts.

“Please, Dean, help me” she pleads.

“My Phoebe, I’m busy, I have to finish knitting this purse before Mom gets back”

She starts crying, she sits on the floor and starts wh¡pping her body on the floor.

I sigh, she is such a drama queen.

“Fine, fine, I will help you!” I told her.

She quickly stands up with a wide smile.

“Thank you, Dean, you are the best!”

I simply smile at her.

Just then, Mom got back, she stops in front of me.

“Dean, come with me!” She orders and head straight to her room.

“My Phoebe, I think I will help you later, Mom wants to see me” she nods.

“Ok!”

“I will be right back!”

But little did I know that it ain’t gonna happen.

I head straight to my mom’s room.

“Mom, you wanted to see me?”

“Yes, I have been making some arrangements for you”

“Arrangements for me? What arrangements?”

“For you to join the army!”

“Army?!”

She nods.

“Why do you want me to join the army?”

“You won’t understand now, but just know I’m doing this for your own good”

I can’t join the army, if I do, I won’t be able to see Phoebe anymore.

“If your father finds out what I did he won’t forgive me or spare you, joining the army will be good for you”

“What did you do?!” I asked.

She sighs and look away from me, she shakes her head as she speaks. Tears brimming in her eyes.

“I can’t tell you that now, bit know that it’s very bad, what I did is unforgivable!”

“I won’t join the army without knowing the reason”

“You us no choice, Dean!”

“Mom,,, ”

“It’s either you join the army willingly or I will never let you see your friend ever again!!”

“I won’t go, I don’t want to join the army!”

She stands up angrily.

“Fine, don’t blame me for being heartless then!”

“What do you wanna do?”

She ignores me.

“Guards!” She called, two of her guards rush in.

“Keep an eye on him, don’t let him out of this room,, and don’t let him meet with anyone,, especially Phoebe!”

“Yes, ma’am!”

“What? Mom! Mom, you can’t do this”

“Watch me as I do it!”

Then she walks out leaving me in the room, I tried to follow her out but the guards held me down.

A week later,,,

I watch from afar as Javier and Phoebe play around in the garden, she smiles so happily, she look so carefree.

I wish I was the one making her smile, I wish Mom wasn’t forcing me to join the army.

I wish I was the one playing with her.

I couldn’t watch anymore, so I walked away.

Three days later,,,,

“Mom, I have decided to join the army!” I told my mom.

“That’s my good boy!” She smiles.

When I get back, I can be with Phoebe and no one would disapprove.

Right now I should just focus on my training.

The next day,,,,,,

*Bang!*

I jerked up and my eyes snap open, my door open and my maid rushes in.

“Young sir, we have to leave!” She panicked.

“Leave? Why?” I asked, feeling confused.

“It’s chaotic outside,, everyone is trying to protect themselves”

I sprang up immediately.

“Where’s my family?!”

“Master Javier have been excorted to the safehouse,, ma’am said I should take you there”

Thank God Javier is safe.

“Then where is my Mom and dad?!”

“Your Mom is fine, but your dad is trapped in his room, we don’t know if he’s still alive!”

My dad is trapped in his room? How come?

I rushed out with my maid running after me, telling me to go with her to the safehouse but I didn’t listen.

I stopped at my dad’s door, some guards are trying to open the door. Finally, they succeeded in breaking it down.

I ran in and I stood frozen in my place,,, I drop to my knees, my didn’t know how to react to this,, no sound came out of my mouth.

I just stares blankly at my dad’s body dangling in the middle of his room.

The guards brought him down and lays him on the ground, his body stayed still and pale.

“How is he?” My maid asked, as if it’s not obvious enough.

“He is dead!” One of the guards reported.

I open my mouth and finally a sound came out.

I scre-med.

I scre-med loudly,, I scre-med my lungs out.

Then a movement catch my attention, I stand up and follow the man in black. He jumps through the window and I jumped too.

He head towards the woods at the back of our mansion and I follow him too. He stops at the entrance of the woods and turn to me, I thought I’d see his face but I didn’t, he wore a mask.

“Who are you? Why did you kill my dad?!” I growled.

He laughs.

“Aren’t you scared that I might shoot you, boy!”

“I’m not scared of death,, tell me who you are and why you killed my dad!!”

“Boy, I’m not here to kill you, in fact we did this for you, boss wants you to have a bright future and we are just here to clear the way for you!”

I fist my hands.

“Bullshit!! Who is your boss? Why did he decides to kill my family just for my future?”

“You don’t have to know my boss,, just know you are very important to him!”

Then he rushes off into the woods,, I would have chased after him if not for the panicked and desperate voice I heard.

I followed the sound of the voice and it leads me to a horrified scene.

My Phoebe’s parents, laying on the ground in the pool of their own blood.

My Phoebe no where in sight.

No, no! How did this happen? Why were they killed too? They were just workers here in the mansion,, they shouldn’t be caught up in this mess!

My Phoebe! My Phoebe!! Where’s she? It was her voice I heard,,, where did she go?

“Phoebe!! Phoebe!!” I called.

But my voice just echo back to me.

“Phoebe! I’m here now, you don’t have to be scared. Come out, it’s your Dean! Phoebe!!”

Still no response.

Wait,,, did she try to escape? That might be the case,, I look around, there’s only one path. I decided to follow the path.

“Phoebe!!” I called her name as I run along the path.

Finally it leads me to an open space, I look around and my eyes lands on a man in black, he seems to be carrying something on his shoulder.

I run closer,, about ten feet away,, then I noticed it’s Phoebe that was on his shoulder.

“Hey! Stop there!!” I called.

The man stop and turned around.

“Put her down!” I order him.

“Lad, this is not your mansion where you order people around!”

“I don’t care, put her down!”

He snickers.

“You are so lucky boss ordered us not to kill you,, but he didn’t say we can’t hurt you!”

He aims his gun at me, but I didn’t flinch away.

“It’s either you give her to me, or shoot me dead, either way I’m not leaving without her!”

It happened so fast, one second I saw Phoebe on his shoulder and the next second, I saw her body falling down.

I lung forward to catch her but the man caught me and pushes me on the ground. I quickly stand up and tilt my head, looking at the direction her body was falling.

“Don’t look, lad, you can’t save her”

I glared at him.

“I could have caught her if you didn’t stop me”

“You couldn’t have, there’s a cliff underneath, I bet she is dead already”

“Argggggggggggggggg!!”

I roared loudly and lung at him, I start punching him as hærd as I can. But he hits my head with his gun and I lost consciousness.

Few hours later,,,,

I woke up and look around frantically, I realized I’m still in the open space, I rush to the edge of the cliff.

“Phoebe!! Phoebe!! Are you alright!!” I scre-med but I got silence in return.

“Phoebe! I’m sorry, I was late, please say something, let me know you are alive”

Still no response.

“Phoebeeeeeeeeeeee!!”

“I really didn’t abandon you, I came but I was too late!” He told me.

“Wait,,,so you weren’t the one I saw?”

“No! I was chasing after one of the killers in the woods, I only came when I heard your voice”

I frown,,,,but I thought I saw him that day and he ignored me.

“My Phoebe, listen, I don’t know why they deceived you, I don’t know why they made you believe you saw me but one thing I know,,,is I can never and will never abandon you.

Even if it’s a life threatening situation, I will always try to be by your side” he promised me.

I look at him, he’s been through so much, I thought I suffered. But he suffered even more than me.

And here I was casting blames on him,, trying to console myself by saying he didn’t try save me. I was wrong all along.

He reaches out and wipe my tears,,,,,,tears?

I’m crying? Again?

“Don’t cry, I’m sorry, I didn’t arrive in time and I made you suffer,,I’m so sorry, please forgive”

I pull away from his hold and stand up.

“I-i will be in the kitchen, I will make some soup for you, it will help with your cold”

“I told you, I don’t need anything but you!”

“I will be right back!”

“But I,,,,,,” I rushes out and shut the door behind me.

He has told me everything,,,now it’s clear to me, he tried his best.

But now it is my fight alone,,I can’t let him get involved anymore.

I will send him back to his mansion after I make him the cold soup.
