Chapter eleven
“Morning sunshine”. Julia shouted.
“Awwww”. I used the pillow to cover my head.
“Kelly wake up. Its Charlie’s birthday”.
“Oh God”. I sat upright. “I know but can’t I at least get some sleep. My body ached so bad. I felt like I’ve been walking all day”. I slumped onto the bed.
“Kelly”. She shouted again.
“Kelly”. This time, it was Mom. She was calling from downstairs.
“I’ll make you pay this silly rat”. I said at Julia but she just mimick my words. I went downstairs. “Morning”.
“Help me out with this”. Mom passed me the veggies. “While I prepare the cake mixture”.
“Where’s Charlie”? I started cutting.
“Those are too big. Make it small”.
“Did you invite Belle”?
“Of course”.
“Tell her to bring some chocolates. I’m craving for it”.
“You tell her yourself”.
“My phone’s up”. I stuff some carrots in my mouth.
“Oh. I forgot to tell you. We’re celebrating it at the restaurant”.
“Why? I thought it would be just us”.
“Charlie invited some of his friends and this place can’t accommodate them all”.
“Is Harrell coming”? The word slipped out from my mouth. I wish I hadn’t asked.
“Of course. He and Lydia will be here in no seconds”. The door bell rang.
“I’ll get it”. Lydia ran towards the door. I kept cutting.
“Morning Mrs Deanerys”. I hugged her.
“Morning dear”.
“Lydia”. Mom smiled.
“I brought this along”. She gave Mom a bag. “And this is for you my dear”. She hand me a bag.
“You don’t have to do this”. Mom said.
“It’s the least I can do”. She turned to me. “I want you to wear that tonight. You’ll look beautiful in it”.
“Thanks Mrs Deanerys”. I left. I saw Julia talking with Harrell. I wonder what those two are saying. I entered my room. Bayern was already there. “I don’t think I’ll be able to go with you”.
“Your brother birthday”.
“How did you find out”?
“I overheard your little sis. Here”. He hand me a box. “It’s a watch. I got it from France. It’s quite expensive. You can give it to him”.
“Where do you want me to say I got this from”?
“He won’t. It doesn’t look expensive to the eyes but it really is. I bought it thousands of years ago. How much was it then. $10 buck I think”. I almost laughed.
“Anyway thanks”. I smiled.
“The prince also send his regards”.
“Tell him I said we’ll meet soon and to get some rest”.
“As you wish princess”. He left and I smiled.
The party was quite loud than I expected. It was a college party. The kind college people like to attend. There was even a DJ. It was night when the party started. Everyone starts coming in. I was in a long gown. I look cool but not to the extent of other girls. Maggie and her crew were also here. Charlie was busy enjoying with his friends.
“Why are you standing here sis”. It was Charlie. “Come on let’s dance. It’s my birthday”.
“You know I don’t dance. I wouldn’t wanna step on your toes”.
“I’ll take care of that”. He pulled me.
“Charlie stop”. But he wouldn’t listen. I’d no choice but to dance even though I was embarrassed to death.
I was with Charlie friends. He was also there.
“You’re beautiful”. One of them held my hand and k-ssed it.
“Hey man. I think you might be drunk”. Charlie jerk my hand from his. “She’s my sister. Not those flirty girls you messed with”.
“I meant no harm. Just expressing my feelings”. He smiled at me.
“You should go Kelly”
“Okay”. I got up and left.
“Hey”. It was Harrell.
“I’m not dancing”.
“I never asked”.
“Better”. Maggie walked towards us.
“Hello Kelly”. She put her hand over Harrell hand.
“Oh. Hi”. I faked a smile. “Hope you are enjoying yourself”?
“Not bad and your brother is kind of cute”. What the hell. Was she admiring Charlie? Damm, this girl’s a shit.
“Thanks. He’s always the cute type. I’ll leave you two to talk”.
“Sure bye”. I left. I was outside.
“So this is where you’re”. Bayern appeared.
“Why are you here? You should be with Aegon”.
“Was told to stay with you”.
“As you can see, I’m perfectly fine”.
“No you aren’t”.
“What do you mean”?
“I’ve seen the way you looked at him. You like him don’t you”?
“Who are you talking about”?
“Harrell Deanerys”.
“I never liked him”.
“Come on. It’s all written on your face. He could sense it but he’s just scared”.
“Why”?
“That’s what I can’t figure out”.
“I think I’ve had enough of your nonsense”.
“Fine don’t admit it but it’s all written on your face”.
“Belle”. I called. She was with a guy.
“Kelly”. She walked towards us. “Meet Vicky”.
“Hi”. I smiled.
“Aren’t you going to introduce him to us”. Belle said looking at Bayern.
“Don’t get the wrong idea. He’s just a friend”.
“See you in,side”.
“Sure”. They left.
“Such a pity”.
“What”.
“That guy won’t last long with her”.
“I think you should shut up now. Belle is my friend. You can’t talk bad about her boyfriend. So mind your words”. My eyes glow but I didn’t noticed. Bayern smiled. “You think it’s funny”.
“You still don’t know how to use your power”.
“Trust me. I don’t have any of that”.
“I can teach you if you want”.
“Can you please leave me alone”.
“Okay”. He disappeared into the thin air and a girl scre-med.
“Did you saw that? The guy here just vanished”.
“I….”
“You saw it too? I’ve to report this to the cops”.
“Wait. I think what you saw was just an hallucination. Maybe you’re drunk”.
“Am I? Well I’d two cups but I saw him clearly”.
“It’s just an imagination”.
“Okay. I think I saw it clearly”. She left.
“That was close”. I looked up and saw Harrell starring at me. Oh my. Did he saw it too.
“What were you two talking about”. He walk towards me.
“Nothing. Why are you outside anyway”?
“Nothing? And you’re here”?
“Should I’ve a reason for coming out”. He sat. “Come. Sit”. He pat the chair.
“What do you want to say”? I sat.
“Just look at the stars”. I stared up.
“There’s barely a single one in the sky”.
“If you stare h-rder, you’ll see thousands of them”.
“You got to be kidding me”.
“Pity you can’t see it”.
“Well I’ve a bad eyesight”.
“So how’s your presentation going”?
“I’m done with it”.
“Wow. The teachers would be so proud of you”.
“I deserve it”.
“Looks like it’s gonna rain”.
“Guess you’re the one with the bad eyesight after all”.
“Trust me. It’s gonna rain within ten seconds”.
“That’s impossible. You aren’t God”.
“Then watch. One, two, three,………..ten”. It starts to rain.
“Oh my”! I exclaimed. We both ran for cover. “How did you do that”?
“I checked the weather forecast”.
“I respect you”. I gave him a thumb up and he smiled. “So when is it gonna stop”.
“Longer than you might think. Let’s go in. You might get a cold”.
“I don’t get sick”.
“But you’re still a girl. Come on. Let’s go in”. He led me in,side.
Chapter twelve
I think I’m getting a flight sickness. A wave of nausea suddenly swept over me.
“Stop please”. I said weakly. Aegon landed and Bayern helped me out. This was the fifth time.
“I think we should take some rest”.
“I’m fine. Don’t let…..”. I threw up again.
“Are you pregnant”? Aegon asked. What he said made me choked. I washed my face.
“Pregnant? Why would I be”?
“I’ll make some fire”. He flew off.
“Pregnant. Why in the world would he say that”.
“To him, only pregnant women get sick”.
“Poor he I’m not pregnant”. I entered the camp.
“Are you okay princess”?
“I’m fine. It’s just a flight sickness. I’ll just get some rest”. I laid on the bed.
“Okay”. He left. I could hear Aegon returned. He and Bayern were having some conversation but I’d no time to listen cause I was already feeling sleepy.
The next day was my presentation day. I still wasn’t feeling well.
“Princess”. It was Bayern voice.
“Hmmm”. I couldn’t open my eyes.
“You’re burning hot. I’ll get you something”. He left. What’s wrong with me. I thought I’d never got sick. Could it be…. Shit why now. I managed to sit upright.
“Are you okay”? Aegon asked from outside.
“Yeah. At least I’m not pregnant”.
“Looks like you’re down with fever”.
“Bayern went to get some herbs I think. He would be back”.
“I’m sorry I can’t come in. I might just break the tenth”.
“You sure would”. I smiled but the ached got worse. “It’s not like I’m really sick. This always happens every year but it just once”.
“I think I know why”.
“You do”?
“Today marked the day I attacked Khan’s kingdom. What you’re feeling is the pain”.
“Any ailments for it”?
“None. You’ll feel the agony and pain they face and it can’t be stopped. Unless the curse is broken”.
“But I’ve to present today”.
“Here”. He threw a necklace in,side the tenth. “Take it. It belongs to my mom”.
“Oh. I shouldn’t. It’s something precious to you”.
“I don’t think I need it. You do. It’ll protect you from any harm just like it did to me when I was human”.
“I really shouldn’t take this”. I picked it up.
“Please”. His voice was calm. “For my mom”.
“I…..”. He was already gone. “I’ll wear it well”. I put it around my neck.
The presentation was good. I was even given an award. How lucky of me but my body wouldn’t let me celebrate. I left the hall.
“Here’s our star”. Harrell smiled at me.
“I…..”. I felt weak.
“Are you okay”? Then I slumped into his hand. “Kelly, Kelly wake up”. That was the last word I heard.
“She’s coming by”. That was Mom’s voice. I opened my eyes slowly. The headache was gone.
“Mom”.
“Shhh. Don’t talk. Here. Drink this”. She gave me a mixture of something. I drank slowly. “Just take a rest okay”.
“Hmmmm”. I nodded and she left. The door opened and Harrell walked in.
“Hey”. He sat beside me. “Are you alright”?
“Feeling better”.
“You shouldn’t have worked hærd for it”.
“It’s nothing much”.
“Still you could have hurt yourself”. He held my hand.
“I’m fine. Really”. I removed my hand from his.
“I brought you something. Here”. It was the necklace Aegon gave me.
“Where did you get that”?
“It fell when I brought you in. Looks like something precious to you”.
“Not mine”. I wore it around my neck. “Thanks”.
“No problem”. He held my hand again.
“Actually, I would like if if you stop holding me”. I removed my hand gently from his.
“I’ll leave you alone to rest then. Bye”. He left. I really wished I hadn’t say that.
Everywhere was silent. We landed gently.
“Why did we stopped here”? I asked Aegon but he just fell to the floor. I almost hit my head on the floor if not Bayern used his magic spell to pull me up.
“Are you okay princess”? He put me down.
“Is he okay”?
“I’ll look into it. Just take a rest”.
“How? Let me help”.
“I’m skilled in this”.
“That won’t stop me from helping”.
“Fine. I’ve to build a huge tent but I’ve to make some fire”.
“So”?
“Just help me with that”.
“I don’t have any power”.
“You do. I’ll go and grab some fire wood to make fire”. He left.
“Oh no”. I stared at Aegon and touched him. He was cold. “How am I supposed to make a huge tent….. Focus. You can do it”. I breath out. “Okay. Tent up”. No tent. “I said tent up”! Still no sign. “I think I must be going crazy”. I sat on the cold ground. “You can’t die. Please. You’ve to hang in there”. I cried. “Tears won’t solve anything”. I clean off my tears. “I said tent up”. Still no sign. “I’m a freak”.
“Princess”. Bayern put down the woods an walked towards me.
“I’m sorry I can’t help you. I’ve no power. I’m no princess”.
“There’s nothing to worry about. The prince is just asleep. I guess he got tired after the long ride”.
“Really. I thought he was dying”.
“I’ll handle this”. He chant a word and the tent went up.
“How…….did you do that”? I stared at him. “That wasn’t tent up”.
“Looks like you’ve a lot to learn. Help me make the fire”.
“How do u do that”?
“Don’t know. I’ll see to the prince”. He entered the tent.
“How am I supposed to make fire when I don’t have any power”. I stared at the woods. “Let’s see”. I put them together. “Fire up”. No fire. “I said fire up”.
“That won’t do”. Bayern appeared and sat beside me. He chant a word and the fire went up.
“That’s…. How did you do that”?
“Just say the words and it’ll happen”.
“I said it but it doesn’t come up”.
“Magic isn’t said with mere words. It’s said in a strange language”.
“Will you teach me then”?
“Sure but you’ve to get some rest. It’s getting dark”.
“That’s after I see Aegon”. I got up and went in,side the huge tent. He was sleeping. I smiled. “Have a sweet dream”. I k-ssed his face and went out.
“Hmmmm”. I mo-ned slowly as I sat upright on the bed. Someone was starring at me. “Ah”! I scre-med and he was flung away into the air. “Bayern”! He appeared. “There’s an intruder in my room”. The person was still gro-ning on the floor. Bayern grab him with one hand.
“My…my…… My prince”. He hugged him.
“I’m fine”. He let go.
“It’s really you”. He hugged him again.
“I’ll really like it if you stop that. You’re choking me”.
“I’m sorry. It’s just that I’m so happy. You’re human”.
“Better”. He looked over to me. My heart start to flutter. Oh my. What’s this. I can’t like him. “Are you alright? I’m sorry I scared you. I didn’t mean to”. He came forward and I grabbed the blanket to my chest. Holly Molly. He was so handsome. His black eyes, wavy brown hair. Even his smile. Oh my. What’s happening to me.
“I…. I’ve to get dressed”.
“I’ll leave then”. He left and Bayern followed talking with him.
We were eating. I was starring at him. Suddenly he looked at me. I turned my gaze away quickly but I think I saw him smile.
“Is the curse broken”? Bayern asked.
“Don’t think so”. He tore some meat and ate. “I can still fell my body aching but it’s temporary for now”.
“So what are we gonna fly on”? I regret saying that.
“I might turn into a dragon anytime so you don’t have to worry”. He stared at me.
“I wasn’t worried……I just don’t want to hurt my feet. They’re precious to me”.
“You won’t hurt your precious feet”.
“Good”.
“That looks pretty on you”.
“What”? I was confused.
“The necklace”.
“Oh this”. I touched it. “I wasn’t able to say thanks earlier. Thanks”.
“Good for that cause I thought you might be one of those worthless people”. That struck me so hærd.
“What”? I stood up. “Are you calling me worthless”?
“Well not again”. He bite on his apple.
“Here”. I removed the necklace angrily from my neck. “I don’t need your f-cking and stupid necklace”. I threw it at him and then faced Bayern who just keep watching. “Take me out of this damm place”!
“But___”.
“Can’t you hear me! I wanna go home”!
“Don’t”. Aegon said.
“What? I said I wanna go home”
“I only said I thought of you as a worthless person earlier”.
“Earlier? Was that what you thought of me earlier? I shouldn’t have come here. I should have let the curse destroyed you. You’re just an idiot. Take me out of here! Now”!
“I’m so sorry princess”. Bayern disappeared.
“What the hell”? I turned back to look at Aegon who continue to eat. He wasn’t moved by my words. “Fine. If you can’t take me home, I’ll find my way”. I left angrily. I looked back after I’d walked some miles away. He wasn’t following me. “Darn him”. I was in tears. “He doesn’t even care”. I kept on walking. “How do I get home”? The breeze gave no answer. Not even the trees. “Mom, I’m scared”. I cried. The snow kept falling like they never care.
I didn’t know where I was nor heading to. I’m quite sure I’m in a forest which had been covered with snow. I couldn’t walk any longer. My feet were cold as ice but I kept dragging.
“Almost”. I said hoping but the harsh snow kept falling on me like I wronged it. Then I hit my leg on something and fell. “Awwww”. I gro-n and looked back. “He’s so wicked”. I got up but I think I heard a howl. “Oh no”. Wolves. The howl continue. I ran. Something appeared in front of me. It was a snow bear. “Not this”. I turned back and ran but I was no match for it. I hit my leg on that stupid stone again and fell hærd on the ground. I could hear the bear gritting its teeth together. I was bleeding. So this is how I’m gonna die. Being an animal breakfast. It was ready to tear me up when I saw it flung into the air. The bear ran away.
“Princess”. It was Bayern.
“Ba___”. I was gone.
