It was late in the afternoon that Mr Harry Gates finally arrived at central police station.
A constable directed him to the DPO’S office and met the DPO seated at his desk, busy handling some files
” officer Harry, you’re here, let me show you the girl’s file ”
The DPO said without preamble, he was a man of few words just like him
He brought out a folder from his desk and brought out a printed photograph
” that’s what she looks like, she killed a police officer and injured thirty seven others, ten of the officers are still in a life and death situation, she is a threat to the society and I want this mission carried out secretly and effectively”
The DPO said and Mr Harry stared long and hærd at the picture, the girl had long black her and her fair colored skin makes him know she isn’t a Nigerian, she was an Indian, her mouth was smeared with blood and just looking at this picture gave him the horrors, he’d handled cases more worse than this but he had a feeling that this one is going to be different.
For the first time in a long time, he was actually thrilled about going on a mission
” we haven’t been able to get any personal information about her but I’m counting on you to find her before the end of this month ”
How on earth was he going to find a nameless girl ?
” you’re not the only one on this case, other officers are also carrying out thier investigation and they’ll keep you updated ”
The DPO said
Harry Gates didn’t know the enormity of the mission he was about to embark on, it was something that would change his life entirely, he only took the files from the DPO and walked briskly out of the office, he wondered how he was going to get a hotel to stay for the day before visiting the family he has in Lagos.

Monica couldn’t stop smiling brightly at Erica
Damn!
She loved the confused look on their faces, Aminat, Niniola and Emerald couldn’t stop staring at her in awe.
” Monica you’re too good, I had no idea this was what you planned when you said you’ve spoken to Oscar ”
Aminat said, amongst all the girls, Aminat was the one that had a mind like her but in terms of shrewdness, she surpassed them all,
She had simply instructed Oscar to switch thier songs, she noticed Emerald’s irregular breathing, she’d been coughing hærd since they ended their dance
” Emerald, if I count to five and you’re still seated here, I’ll make you hate yourself, go and take your medicine immediately ”
Aminat said with her eyes flashing dangerously and Monica wasn’t surprised when Emerald stood up weakly and walked out of the dance hall, Aminat had always had this power over Emerald.
Monica continued to smile at Erica, the judges were getting pissed looking at them stand like morons and they were about to chase them off the stage but what happened next made her eyes go wide in shock
It was simply unbelievable!

Shanaya continued staring in confusion, why on earth did they change their song, she couldn’t stop feeling angry, they had put in a lot of efforts just to make it to the auditions, she saw the hopeless look on Tori’s face, poor Tori that had always been gro-ning in pains whenever it was time for training, she saw the dumbfounded look on Sasha’s face, poor Sasha that had tried all her best to train them before they could perfect thier dance
She saw the violent look on Erica’s face and she knew if they left the stage as failures, Erica would give those girls another round of beatings and to hell with the consequences.
Her hands trembled with a pulsating kind of energy, and a crazy idea popped into her head, her hands could attract any element but could it attract humans too
One of the judges picked up his microphone and she made it fall off from his hands.
She raised up her hands and the trio fell down in a straight line on the floor, in perfect formation
The bored audience gasped in shock and stared at them in fascination
You raise me up!
So I can stand on mountains!!
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas!!!
And as the song continued playing, she
raised them up in the air, Erica soaring high on Tori’s shoulder and Sasha balanced on a sitting position on Erica’s shoulder.
She could see the wonder of the trio’s faces, they simply had no control of their bodies, she became the controller of thier bodies
Her wh0le body trembled due to the kind of energy she was using, it was an energy that was gradually draining her, the dark liquid started trickling down her nose but she didn’t stop
She only raised her hands higher until Sasha was standing, her two legs balanced on Erica’s shoulders
A cheer erupted from the audience and they clapped thier hands enthusiastically
Erica felt it, the moment when she had no control of her body, the moment when Shanaya started controlling them, she didn’t understand how she found herself sitted on Tori’s shoulder, she only knew that she was raised up
Just like a feather, they gradually found themselves going down… down until the song ended and thier eyes w¡dened in alarm as Shanaya’s drained body fell limply to the ground
The crowd only cheered the more, thinking it was all a part of their dance
Tori, Sasha and Erica surrounded her and carried her down the stupid flight of steps
This was the first time they had seen Shanaya in a weak state and it was an understatement to say they were scared, they were damn frightened
” wow! Wow!! wow!!!”
One of the judges said as soon as they made it down the stairs
” when I first saw you girls walk up the stage, your outfits wasn’t even the same, I simply said you were going to waste our time and you did exactly that , but halfway through the song it was like something magical happened, the way she raised up her hands as if she was actually controlling you, it was so breathtaking to watch, your moves were so accurate, and even the way she fell and you lifted her up… it must have taken months of training to achieve this, and in all the auditions I’ve been seeing for years, I’ve never seen anything like this, its… simply beautiful, and I’m looking forward to seeing you girls rock in the next stage of the competitions”
The judges said but they were too confused to understand what he was saying, they were only concerned about Shanaya, for someone with that kind of energy she was so fragile, they barely felt the weight of her in their arms as they exited the dance hall.
WRITER’S POV
Monica felt like yanking her hair out as they girls ended their dance
How on earth had they managed to get the steps right for a song they didn’t practice for
And the judges even commended them
and called their dance beautiful
” Monica, I told you, you can’t stop those girls, they are strong”
Niniola said and Monica eyed her disdainfully
She wasn’t going to accept defeat because they simply made it past the auditions.
No! She was going to do the exact opposite, she didn’t rise to the top in the palace for nothing
She rose to the top because she cleared off all obstacles in her path
This girls have proven themselves as obstacles and she will clear them off
