We didn’t know how long we continue running, not even daring to turn back, we come out of the estate, to the busy road and tries to find somewhere that we can seat down after running for twenty minutes, my chest was beating heavily against my rib cage,

that’s when I notice that Shanaya isn’t here.

I was about to explain to Tori when I see Shanaya in front of me
And her eyes still has the faint wild gleam in it
She stares at me without blinking and I blink rapidly

I couldn’t stop blabbering
” Erica! I still don’t know how I’m going to go home and face that man, what if he gives me military punishment ”

Shanaya places her hand on her chest to demonstrate the ‘ calm down, it’s okay ”
Sign and it confirms my worst fears
She has indeed killed that man!

As the soldier came into view, I knew there was no way I could run away, I knew that if we all ran away, Tori is going to be the one to face the man’s wrath, I could feel that hatred for men rising up in my chest, my hands felt hot, like it was on fire, I feel that strange s-nsation And I knew that I wasn’t myself anymore, as I look at man, I didn’t know what he saw in my eyes or what scared him.

One of the two girls said with tears
And as the man opened his mouth to talk, I can feel myself losing control of my powers, just like a cord, something snapped within me, I know there was no way I could stop myself from killing this man

I knew if the man didn’t talk in that moment,

I stare at him in shock, my body was trembling with the need to use my powers on ..him

The man shouts at the two girls and we all look at him with our mouths agape
What the hell did I just do, I don’t understand
My body was still trembling with the need to use my powers
I began to run, running because I don’t understand myself or the strange powers that I have, running because I need to burn that crazy energy in me.
It didn’t even feel like I was running, it felt like the wind was carrying me and my legs were barely touching the ground, I lost my colorful scarf while running but I couldn’t have waited to pick it up, I stopped when I saw the girls
Erica was saying something to Tori about me but she stops when her eyes met mine
Then she stopped talking and started babbling
“I was just telling um Tori that we can’t find you and um… Wow you’re here now…
Tori just looks so frightened
” Erica! I still don’t know how I’m going to go home and face that man, what if he gives me military punishment ”
She said while chewing worriedly on her lower lip
I wish to assure her, so I placed my used my hands on my chest to tell her to calm down that everything is going to be okay

Mom is just getting worse everyday
Just this morning, she forgot my brother at the church, I was only lucky that the pastor took him to his house and I was able to find him
She is losing weight too, that’s something I hadn’t noticed until now.
I was reading in my room when she opens the door with a cup of tea in her hands
I took the tea cup from her and take a sip , this is weird, mom doesn’t put honey in my tea, she knows I don’t like it, so why did she put it now

She scratched her head and her eyes has this far away look
” I didn’t know there’s no bread in the house anymore, can you please get some from mallam Audu in the next street ”
She said and I become more confused
” but mom, mallam Audu died two years ago ”

” yes he did, remember you even went to visit his first wife, umu Fatima and his daughter Sekinah”
” I guess work has been really busy lately that I tend to forget most things ”
She said before exiting the room, I didn’t see the sad look that came upon her face immediately she turned around .
I just sighed inwardly
All she cares about is work
She is an irresponsible mother, She is so obsessed with work that she forgot her very own child!

Immediately I open the front door I was expecting to meet Chloe’s father already waiting there for me but I see no sign of him
I keep the door open a little bit and place one leg outside, I lean in,side and scan the living room
Everywhere is quiet
No sign of Chloe’s dad
I sigh in relief and walk into the house, I meet dad pacing back and forth in the dining room

What if Chloe’s dad has reported me to my dad and he is only thinking about the best kind of punishment to give me
His eyes seemed to recognize my presence and as he walks towards me, my heart started beating fast that I could hear the sound of my own breathing.
His eyes had this certain anger in it, he crouched before me until our faces are at the same level and he k-ssed me
This was nothing like the chaste little k-sses that he gives me on the l-ips, this was fierce, angry, like he couldn’t get enough of me, his tongue moves relentlessly in my mouth
WTF
I try to push him away, I don’t want this craziness
His hands roamed around my body and settles on my left br**st , he was trying to take off my pink sweatshirt when my mom calls out from the kitchen

He let’s go of me immediately and I stagger backwards, my mouth open in shock
He walks to the kitchen and I stare at him with my mouth still hanging open as he walks away.
