⏰ CHAPTER 25 ⏰
🌻 James POV 🌻
I drove the car into the highway with much speed
I promised Michael I’ll save Rachel, I must not fail him this time
I took my phone and called Rachel but she didn’t pick up the call
I called again and again
“Pick up the damn phone Rachel!” I yelled frustrated
🌻 Rachel’s POV 🌻
“I wonder what’s wrong at the office that they need me so urgently” I said as I drove in the highway
I should go and sort everything out then go back to the hospital, I need to stay by Micheal’s side
I suddenly heard a vibration coming from my bag
I took my phone and I saw that I had lots of missed calls from James
He called again and I picked it up
“What’s up James? Is Michael okay?” I asked
🗨️ “Where the hell are you?!” He yelled
“On my way to the office, I told you guys an emergency came up, is there any problem?” I asked
🗨️ “Stop the car and I’ll meet up with you right away”
“I have stopped, momentarily though cause the traffic light just changed to red, is there anything wrong James?” I asked again
🗨️ “When the traffic signal change, look for a place to park your car and I’ll be there right away” he said and ended the call
What’s going on?
I waited on for the traffic signal to change for some minutes
It changed and I made to drive upwards to look for a suitable place I could park the car
I drove through the crossroad and then I noticed a truck coming towards me at a high speed
It was getting so close to me and there was no way I could turn my car
“Ahhh!!” I screamed as I covered my ears with my eyes closed ready for the hit
I heard a crushing sound but I felt nothing, I felt no impact on my car
I slowly raised up my head and opened my eyes
A car had drove in between us and got hit instead of mine
“That’s….. that’s James’ car!” I ran out of my car to the destroyed car
But…..but no one was inside
“Rachel”
I turned to see James standing right in front of me unhurt
“How…..what…..what just happened?!” I said unsure of which question to ask first
“I saw the truck coming at you so I had put my car on auto acceleration and jumped out, and my car got crushed instead of yours though I got bruised on my elbow while jumping off the car” he said as he showed me his bruised elbow
“Wait….wait a minute, why on Earth was that truck coming towards me in the first place?!”
“Assassination plan by my father” James said
“Why would your father want to kill me?! Or….or was it because of what I said the other he came? Was it because I was rude?”

“He tried to use as a leverage against Michael, because he knows Michael loves you. Now can you get me your phone? Mine got destroyed in the car and it seems the truck driver is still alive, I need to call 911” he said but he lost me when he said Michael loves me
Well I knew he kinda loves me for a long time now but why do I suddenly feel happy hearing it now? When I used to be uncomfortable by it before
What’s wrong with you Rachel?
You’ve been behaving unusual this days
“Rachel, your phone!” James repeated loudly bringing me back to reality
“Oh right” I quickly got my phone from my car and gave him
James called 911 and an ambulance came from the city hospital where Michael was being hospitalized to get the truck driver
James and I followed the ambulance in my car
“Michael was very worried about you, he was ready to take the blame for kidnapping Julia just so you’ll be safe” James said and I nodded silently
I was in love with James, I have always been in love with James but he just saved my life and is seated beside me in a car and my heart isn’t skipping like it used to and recently when I’ve been with Michael, there’s this happiness and excitement I feel
What’s this sudden twist in my love story?
We got to the hospital and the truck driver was taken into the operation room while we went to meet Micheal
“Rachel!!” Michael exclaimed as he ran out of his hospital bed to hug me
“Am so glad you are okay” he said and I just stood still while my heart beats faster
Am I getting swayed by Michael? Is this love?
🌻 Michael’s POV 🌻
I finally let Rachel go and walked towards Tyler
Then I punched him right on the face
“That’s for giving me such a scare asshole!!” I yelled and Rachel and James held me
“Don’t save him James, this asshole deserves a beating!” I yelled as I struggled to break free from James grip
“For once, I agree with you Michael” Stefan said as he punched Tyler again and he fell on the floor
“Stop Stefan!” Sarah yelled as he held Stefan back
“Enough! All of you!!” Nanny yelled and we all stopped struggling
“All of you, let each other go” Nanny said and we obeyed
Then she walked up to Tyler
“I remember you Tyler” she said “Years ago you, James and Stefan, you guys were the best trio friends I had ever seen, you guys would skip school sometimes just to go have fun together, every year on James birthday, you guys were always the first guest to arrive and the last to leave, I’ll always pack special food and gifts for you guys when you are going, what happened Tyler? What changed?” Nanny asked
“Nothing changed Nanny, I’ve always been like this” Tyler said as he managed to stand up
“And are you happy being like this?” Nanny asked “Before you walked in, I saw you by the door, you were there for a minute watching everyone talk and laugh, loneliness was written clearly in your eyes” Nanny said and Tyler kept quiet
“I know you are afraid of my Dad” James said “But how long will you continue to do nothing and be afraid, just help us Tyler, you can help us bring him down”
“He….. he’ll kill me” Tyler stuttered
“He won’t, stop being a coward and do something right for once in your life!” Stefan said
“But I don’t know anything, he tells me little of his plans, he only sends me on necessary errands” Tyler said
“You can be a witness” James said “The truck driver Dad hired to kill Rachel is still in surgery, the cops are already investigating the accident and the driver will be questioned immediately he wakes up, you can be our second witness Tyler, you can help us put Mr Whistler in jail and set yourself free from this bondage”
Tyler kept quiet for a minute
“I am tired of being used, I thought I had no choice, no escape but I guess I do now, instead of apologising for everything I did wrong, I’ll try to make things right instead, I’ll do whatever you need me to do” Tyler said
“First, do you know where Julia is being held captive?” James asked
“I do not, he doesn’t tell me such important information” he replied
“Then tell us about all the dirty errands you’ve ran for your boss” I said
“There are much, can’t even remember most of them, it ranged from embezzlements, to different frauds, your father didn’t get to such a high position by being clean, he had to get his hands dirty” Tyler said
“Then tell us about this, Mr and Mrs Campbell, they aren’t Julia’s parents so who are they?” Stefan asked
“All I know is they work for Mr Whistler, he had hired them to act as Julia’s parents for years now and Julia herself believes the Campbells to be her parents”
“I don’t understand, why would Dad hire someone to act as Julia’s parents? How is he connected to Julia?” James said
“So what are we going to do now? That darn old man must not in jail for trying to take my life” Rachel said
“And he will” I said “Since the truck driver isn’t awake yet, Tyler can go to the station and make a statement, then am sure we’ll be to get an arrest warrant for Dad or at least get him detained”
“You are right Michael, maybe being arrested will prompt him to spill out where he hid Julia”
🌻 Jame’s POV 🌻
Tyler, Stefan and I left for the station and met with the cops
Tyler gave them his statement but because Dad was such a high figure in the business industry, they had to get permission from there superiors first and they promised us to meet up with us at the Whistler’s Mansion
We got to the Mansion first and luckily, Dad was in
“And prodigal son returns home” Dad said as he saw me
“You must not have heard, you truck driver failed to kill Rachel so your plans went down the drain” I said
“I know” he shrugged
“Well the cops are on their way Dad, you’ll be arrested for all your deeds soon”
“And what evidence may I ask do you have to prove that I orchestrated the accident?” He asked
“Tyler” I said and Dad look at him surprised “He finally decided to do the right thing”
“Am sure you know price for betraying me is your life Tyler!!” Dad yelled angrily
“You’ll do nothing to him!! You’ll be in jail soon and you’ll be forced to give me back my Julia!” I said
“If you want your Julia, you’ll make sure am not arrested” he said
“I’d be a fool if I ever trust you again”
“Then lemme give you some motivation, I think it’s time to finally reveal my last card, Julia is in fact the very girl you loved 15 years ago, Julia is Andrea, I saved her from death, faked her death and gave her a new identity and if you want to be reunited with her again you will do as I say!”……
