Two days later…
The fluffy drape fluttered at the bedroom window and a cool , soothing breeze drifted across the bed. Hale laid a possessive hand on Eve’s bare swollen belly. The pregnancy was in it’s second trimester.
“Sugarpie…” he smiled at her and she blushed,it felt like her heart was going to burst open. Hale could do that,make her want him at any hour of the day or night. Just by lying down next to her, touching her or even staring at her.
“Babe..” she snuggled against him and slipped her arms around his neck.
“When do you suppose he’ll start moving in there?”he slipped down and planted a k-ss on her belly. She mo-ned softly and arched her back, slightly ar-used by the warmth of his breath on her skin and by the innocent k-ss he’d planted there.
“She’ll be moving soon and I’ve told you it’s not a boy. This is a girl I’m carrying..” she grasped the side of her abdomen and he smiled.
“You win my queen…” He teased and slipped down again to plant another k-ss on her stomach.
“I love you..” he ran the tip of his toungue over her navel.
A soblike sound escaped Eve’s l-ips and she buried her fingers on his hair as he blew a raspberry over there. “How much?” She gasped. “How much do you love me?” She rephrased and he grinned.
“Do you want me to show you just how much I love you?” He asked still grinning.
“How are you going to do it?” She asked smiling down at him.
He rose up to her and pampered his l-ips with hers. “I’ll make love to you.” He offered with k-sses,deep passionate k-sses that threatened to take her breath away.
“You’re going to kill our baby..” she jerked helplessly against him.
“I won’t..”
“You will, you’re going to hurt her..” she persisted.
“Why will I?” He scoffed.
Still she persisted”Babe let’s just wait until she’s born.” She had come to believe that love making was simply a wifely duty, designed for the benefit of the male gender and of course the conception of children but the fear of the child getting hurt again was getting in the way.
“That means you want me dead,I can’t hold seeing you around. Besides you heard what the Doctor said,a baby needs the semen of it’s father to grow. I believe you want our baby to be healthy.” He ass**ted.
“Yes but I don’t want you to hurt her..”she whinned, sheilding her belle with her hands.
He scoffed again and unclasped her hands.”Don’t worry I’ll be gentle..”
He did as he’d said and worked her painstakingly in a way that took her half out of her mind with wanting.
She made a purring sound and arched her wa-ist but he stayed with her, driving her deeper and deeper into the fever of his loving.
Hale’s fingers skimmed over her br-ast,his thumb circling her n-pples until her chest heaved and perspiration clung to every inch of her flesh. Then his mouth claimed one br-ast and suddenly she couldn’t move,she couldn’t think,as Hale focused all his attention on that one part of her body. An involuntary gasp escaped her throat and the sound urged him on. He switched his mouth to the other br-ast, while his hands trailed down her h¡ps. The dual attention had Eve on the edge,ready to go over. There was a time to go slow and savor every new s-nsation. And she wanted it now.
She began to toss her head from side to side on the pillow,and to tug at him, wherever she could catch hold, trying to get him to take her but he was bent on taking his time.
In his arms,she had discovered a high degree of pleasure she had never dared to imagine or experience and it frightened her sometimes,how much she loved him. How much she needed him.
Her breath turned to a rapid, shallow p-nting, and she pleaded shamelessly in words that made no sense. He knew what she wanted,what she needed but he continued to attend her in the way he chose,and when he began to work her more gently, slowly, even more thoroughly sweat broke out all over her,but this time the breeze did nothing to cool her. She began to buck in his hands,and still he enjoyed her,teased her, refused to let her go. He wanted to show her how much he cared, how much he craved spending hours getting to know her.
When he finnaly took her,she was so worked up that she found release instaneously.
Hale teased her, nibbled at her jawline and her neck and her earlobe while she erupted beneath him,in slow, delicious fits and stages as she stroked his back while he moved upon her.
Eve was a passionate woman in everything she did,but Hale took her beyond passion into deep lust,a need so great that she didn’t want to let him go. He moved slow and gently feeling his hærd in,side and outside of her as he k-ssed her,his body pressed hærd against her most sensitive s₱0t. Eve’s body stiffened beneath him, she was already mo-ning in the throes of a series of soft,sweet catches,taken quite by surprise.
He stiffened upon her,and gave a hoarse, strangled cry of truimp and surrender,and she felt his warmth spilling into her,and received him gladly.
He touched Eve’s face,k-ssed her lightly on the l-ips, put his forehead to hers and sighed.
He sensed a change in,side her,and he was at a loss for words. He was embarking on something new, something incredible,and didn’t want to blow it. Not with Eve. This wasn’t a woman to be put aside,she would be part of everything he did. He didn’t realize until then that he’d wanted someone he could share everything with. He’d always demanded his privacy but with Eve he could bare everything.
“Promise you’ll never leave me..” she said burrying her fingers in his love-rumpled hair.
His eyes were still glazed, his arms still tense as he held himself poised over her, shuddering.” I promise” he gro-ned and placed light soft k-sses on her temple,her forehead,her cheek and finnaly her l-ips then eased himself off the bed and held out his hand.” Come.”
She grabbed his hand and he helped her up. Then he watched her flushed face,her hair damp,one side tucked behind an ear,the rest loose and wild making her look both s€×y and wh0lesome at the same time. She looked absolutely glorious standing in front of him, completely unclad.
He k-ssed her,then picked her up like a bride.”you’ll do good with a shower..”
Her eyes brightened and she lifted her head to k-ss him. He carried her to the bathroom and helped her into the tub.
Eve stepped into the icy water,then he turned on the hot water. As the shower warmed,he washed himself and let her stay in the tub.
“I Know you’ll want to stay in there, don’t catch a cold..” he wrapped a towel around his wa-ist.
“Okay..” she mumbled as she watch him saunter out of the bathroom.
She turned off the shower, scrubbed herself gently then sat back on the tub to still enjoy the feeling of the tepid water on her bare skin. She stayed in the tub longer than she had expected, then finnaly stepped out of the tub, wrapped a towel around her body and brushed her hair into a w-t ponytail.
She stepped from the bathroom and her face squeezed into a frown,the room smelt new and nice,the bed was neatly arranged,the duvet changed into a new one and the pillow probbed but there was no sign of Hale.
Where did he go?
She slipped into a loose fitting gown and went down to search for him.
When she got down the stairs, everywhere smelt of rich coffee. She stepped from the stairs into the main living room area. Hale was sitted on a sofa, drinking coffee. He wore nothing but a pair of white trouser and looked like a Greek god, muscle clearly defined even at rest.
“I thought you went out without informing me..” she stood behind him and looked through his shoulder.
“I bet you were already missing me..” he turned to glance at her and their l-ips met. Lightly,a breath of a touch,but Eve’s body tingled in response.
“No I grew mad. I wouldn’t want you to leave my side till our baby is born..” she wrapped her arms around him and held him tightly,her head nestled between his neck and shoulder. Just held him without moving for a long, peaceful moment.
“That’s a good long time but I’m ready to do anything for you..” he k-ssed her forehead,her cheek,her neck,back to her l-ips.
“Thank you..” she mumbled returning the k-ss.
“Would you mind if I make you some tea or cereal?,what do you want?” He made no move to leave her.
“Cereal and please don’t forget to add a lot of sugar and milk..” she unwrapped her arms from his body and stepped back.
“Thank you…” She smiled as she watch him get up and walk out of the living room,she was tempted to follow but then she’ll just end up distracting him.
With a sigh,she plunged into the exact seat he got up from and stared at his coffee which was on the glass table in front of her, she arched her back slowly as she watched bits of coffee pop up in the form of cream. She would have been in that position, watching the coffee for ages if the click of heels didn’t pull her eyes from it.
She looked at where the sound came from and her mouth went dry and her wh0le body began to quiver.
She rubbed her eyes and stared at the familiar face again,panic creaping into her body.
“Ashley….” Eve’s voice cracked.
“With the way you look like you’ve just seen a ghost, I’m sure you wrote me as dead..” Ashley crabbed walking up to her.
“What are you doing here?” She managed to get on her feets which were already growing weak.
“Oh please, don’t crack me up. What am I doing here?..” she stopped and stared at Eve’s protruding stomach. “So it did survive..”
“Yes it did survive, your plan didn’t work.”Eve as**tained cupping her belly, annoyance making her brave.
“I know but don’t worry, I’m planning to terminate it this time..”if that was meant to scare Eve,then it didn’t work. She was bluffing and Eve sensed it.
“You tried maiming me once and I did nothing about it but that doesn’t mean I’m a fool,try it this time and you’ll find yourself behind bars.” Eve stated,arms crossed.
She was serious and Ashley noted that.
“I see you’re getting brave..” Ashley tensed herself. “Where’s Hale?” She asked looking around as if in search of him.
“You’re no longer welcome here..” Hale said walking in on them. He held a bowl of cereal which he handed to Eve as he stood by her side.
“Thanks babe, I’ll be up..” Eve smiled and took the bowl from him.
“Okay, I’ll just talk to her..”
Ashley gapped at them as she watch Eve plant a k-ss on his l-ips before walking out of the living room..
What nonsense!
“What was that?” She questioned Hale while still staring at Eve,who was looking back at her to see if she was watching and sure she was.
“What was what?” Hale rephrased, glaring at her.
“What she just did,what was the meaning of that?is that how you welcome me now.?” She queried, pupils dilating.
“What do you want..?” he started and stopped.
“Is that how you talk to me now?” She questioned, arms akimbo.
“Look Ash,what part of •you’re no longer welcome here• do you not understand?” He seethed.
“Every part of it,tell me what has eaten into you. Why are you behaving like this?,what did she do to you?” She rubbed her knuckles on her bridge.
“Nothing, I’m done with you. I’m done with all that hen-pecked stuff of yours. I can’t be with a woman who is capable of hurting another. You tried hurting Eve when I warned you against it, remember?”
“This is a joke,I still have your ring.”
She said waving her fingers at his face.
“You can keep it,I don’t need it anymore..”he scoffed.
“What?” Her eyes flashed.
Hale wriggled both brows.”You heard me, I’ts over between us. I have a family to see to..”
“I think…..”
“Stop thinking..” he said cutting her off. “I have a wife!”
“It’s only few months since I left and you’ve already moved on with that woman” her voice was sober this time as she walked up to him, he made no move to back away from her.
“She’s not just any woman, she’s my wife and I love her..” he stated.
“No you don’t love Eve. You’re not thinking straight.” She said gaining in sharpness too.
“I am,I am thinking straight. I love Eve and I’m sorry to break your heart but you need to leave now. You’ve overstayed your welcome..” he said pointing his brows towards the door.
“No you can’t do this to me..” she pressed her hands on her head and squeezed her face beneath her elbow then brought them down..”look at me Hale, it’s me you love and not Eve. I was looking forward to a good long time with you in the shower…” She teased and made to wrap her arms around him amid leaning in sed-ctively,but he caught her wrist.
“Don’t you dare try it..” he sneered and pushed her away.
“Damn!!” She swore staggering backwards. “What’s wrong with you?”
“I should be asking you that, what’s wrong with you?” He countered.
“What’s wrong with me?,are you seriously asking me that,I spent four frickin months in coma just to come back and get this from you.”
Her voice went flat.
“Stop making this look like a do or die affair. I’m done carrying you..” there was so much venom in his voice.
“Oh Hale it is a do or die affair,you can’t just get rid of me after coming this far with you. You can’t choose that woman over me, remember you were just with her to get back at Philip and revenge Sonia’s death..” she reminded, should Incase he forgot.
“I already did that, it’s all over Ash. Philip is in jail .” He announced and she gasped.
“What?, how?, how did you do it?.” She asked, flustered.
“It’s a long story but a lot has happened with you away.” He said folding both arms across his chest.
“Fine,I don’t care about all that has happened. All I know is that you can’t get rid of me.” Ashley was breathing hot,head hanging like a preying mantis.
“Is that a threat?” He scoffed again.
“You know what, we’ll do this some other time. For now, I’ll do good with a lot of sleep..” she said and made to walk pass him but he caught her arm by her wrist and pulled her back.
“Stay back!!” He snorted, pushing her away.”you’re trying me..”
She reeled backwards but quickly gained her composure.
“You’re not serious at all. This is a joke..” she snorted and made to walk pass him again but he got in her way.
“Come here..” he grab her by an elbow and pulled her along with him.
“Let go of me!! Get away!!”
She tried to wriggle herself out of his firm grip but couldn’t as he roughly pulled her towards the door.
He reached for the door and pulled it open to meet three men(one uniform and the others plain clothe), walking into the balcony.
“You called the cops..”
Ashley’s eyes flashed as he let go of her and pushed her out of the house, getting out too.
“No I didn’t..” Hale shrugged staring at the officer who flashed his ID as a way of introduction.
“I did..” the voice came from the building,they both turned and Ashley’s heart began to thump heavily beneath her chest as she met Eve stepping out of the building,into the balcony.
“Eve,you!” She called shocked.
“Yes,I called the cops..” Eve replied nonchalantly.”What were you thinking,that I’ll let you go free after what you did to me and my unborn child,wow! You must really act the big fool that you are to come back here. If I were you I would’ve flee,yes that’s what wise people do after committing a crime,they run. But in your case you’re clearly the opposite, you’re very stupid Ashley,very very stupid.” There was a high venom in Eve’s voice.
She resumed.” Good God I’ve been waiting for this day and now it’s finnaly here,I can’t wait to see you rot in jail..”
“Eve I didn’t mean to..”
She started to explain but Eve cut in.
“Save your explanations, we’ll need it later in court. Officers do your job.” She gave a lopsided smile as she watch the cops cuff Ashley who protested for a while.
She has never seen the cops effective as this ones, except on TV’s.
“Why didn’t you tell me about this..?” Hale moved towards her.
“Just let me handle this..” Eve pleaded and he rubbed his arms up her hand,then he leaned over and k-ssed her softly, holding her face with his hands. “You are amazing sugarpie but why didn’t you inform me on your plan,I would’ve made it more fun .” He offered and she smiled.
“I thought I should take care of it myself. I’ll so love to see that woman in jail.” She ch¡pped..
“You would..” he replied airily.
“Honey please don’t let them take me away..”Ashley yelled at the top of her voice as she was being whisked away by the cops.
“Pathetic..” Eve mumbled glancing at Hale. He smiled at her before walking into the house.
Eve stayed outside for a while, watching as Ashley was being shoved into the station wagon which slowly moved out of the compound. She was about going in,side when she noticed a strange car drive into the compound,she leaned over a rail and watch the Bentley..
It moved into the compound and found it way to the garage.
Eve smiled as she saw Rose alight alongside a man,he had a blond complexion,brown hair and topaz eyes. He looked young.
“What’s up girlfriend.?” Rose called out as they walked towards the balcony,she was holding a gift bag in one hand and Eve wondered who it was for.
“Hi Rose. How you doing?” Eve smiled.
“Am fine and you..”she inquired.
“I’m good..”
“Okay I think it’s time you met Royce,the man I’ve been telling you about..” she introduced amids smiles.
“Hello Royce, you’re welcome.”
“Thank you, Eve right.?”
“Yeah,it’s nice to see you at last after all the talks with Rose. She speaks lengthly about you.”
“Are you kidding me?Rose says a lot about you more than anyone else infact you’re always on her l-ips..” his face brightened.
“That’s a lie right..” Eve said in a laugh.
“Why would I lie to you, she has been saying so many good things about you so I had to come see for myself,and I must say you look splendid..” he acknowledged.
“Thank you,you don’t look bad yourself..”
“I’m just being natural. your baby,I hope it’s doing good?”
“Yes but I’m tired..” she smiled cupping her belly.
“It’s normal for now but soon everything will be alright. So what are we having here,a boy or girl.?” He asked nonchalantly.
“A girl, we’re having a girl..” there was a conviction in Eve’s voice.
“So what about your husband?” He smiled back.
“He’s in..” she replied pointing her brows at the door.
“Alright. I have something for the baby.” Eve gulped as she watch him take the gift bag from Rose. What’s in the bag?.
“But promise you won’t open it until she’s born” he said handing her the bag.
“I won’t open it .” She said but her hands couldn’t be at peace,she needed to know what’s in it,so she fumbled with her fingers.”Thank you,she appreciates.”
“You should be thanking Rose. I was at work but she forced me down here,she wouldn’t let me be in peace if I don’t pay you a visit..” he whinned..
“Oh Rose..”Eve smiled and pulled her into a warm hug. ” You’re too nice..”
“You’re my friend..” she pointed out.
“Maybe I’ll name my daughter Rose.” Eve said as they disengaged from the hug.
“Oh Eve you’re funny.” Royce ass**ted.
“She’s always like that, babe I thought I saw the cops leaving, what’s up..?” Rose questioned, hastily.
“It’s Ashley,I got her arrested.” Eve announced balancing her features.
“Oh you did?” She asked someone surprised.
“Yes she can’t injure my baby and I, and go without being taught a lesson..” Eve stated airily.
“Oh boy. Eve! I missed that!” Rose exclaimed pressing two fingers on her forehead.
“Yes you came late, you’ve….”Eve stated and stopped.”Gosh,where are my manners?” She loudly scolded herself.
“Come on guys, let’s go in,side, come in come in you’re welcome to my home..” she invited rather huskily and walked into the building while the others sauntered behind her.
“Please make yourself comfortable.”. She announced as she led them into the living room.
“Alright,thank you..” Rose replied as they both settled into a sofa.
“What can I get you.?” She asked placing both hands akimbo.
“Nothing, we’re fine..” Rose replied for the both of them.
“Come on girlfriend..” Eve tapped the side of her abdomen.
“Okay get us anything..”
“Anything?” She questioned.
“Yes, anything you think it’s good. ” She smiled.
“I’ll be right back”.
Eve served them wine and excused herself to go keep the gift, using the opportunity to get Hale to come down.
When she got to the room she met Hale in the bathroom,by the WC.
A peek at his face told her everything wasn’t alright. He was holding a little container of cocaine and that made her worried.
Is he still doing drugs?Eve frowned and moved over to him.
“Babe…” She called wearily, sliding her arms up his hand, wondering if to snatch the container away from him or just talk to him.
No response from him and he didn’t even turn to glance at her,he was another automation by the WC.
“What are you doing?” She asked but no response.
“Just look at me..” she urged, wrapping her arms around him.
Still no response let alone a budge,he kept staring at the container.
“Please…” She crooned sniffing the air. He glanced at her then looked at the WC.
Eve heaved a huge sigh of relief as he opened the container and emptied it’s content down the drain,then turned to her.” I didn’t take it and I’ll never take it again. “He assured.
“Thank you” she smiled and he k-ssed her.
“There’s no need for that,I promised to be the man you want..”
He k-ssed her again. Not urgency,just a deep affection like nothing Eve had known before.
She pulled away slowly and smiled at him.”Oh babe,I don’t think we can do this now. We have visitors down there and look what they got for our angel?” She flashed the bag in his face.
“What’s that?” He asked tickling her as she hid the bag behind her back amids laughs.
“I’m not to open it till she’s born.” She smiled.
“Who did you say is down there?”
“Come see for yourself..” she smiled and pulled him playfully,out of the room.
