Chapter 5.

Maggie drove carefully along the quiet lane all smiles. She and Diana are driving to David’s house, Diana accepted to play the game with her until school resumes.

It’s really going to be an interesting holiday, but what’s more interesting to Maggie is what her son’s face will look like .

Well, it should look normal, seeing that this epitome of beauty in all ramification, is the one playing the wife part.

Sincerely, Maggie wishes so much that Diana and David become an item, but she made it clear to her that she’s in a relationsh¡p.

Let fate take it’s course! Maggie thought as she hitted the horn button to alarm her son’s gateman to open the gate.

Sure enough, David’s car is still parked in it’s usual position when the gates where opened, Maggie carefully parked hers next to his and jumped out.

Diana took many deep breaths and mandated herself to calm down before climbing out.

The compound looked beautiful and clean apart from the over grown flowers that where used to decorate every corner of the building.

Doesn’t Mr no woman have a gardener? who knows if he has a house keeper? These questions raced through Diana’s mind as they walked towards the house.

“Welcome ma!”the gateman greeted loudly as if he just remembered that he’s supposed to greet.

Maggie waved him off and walked on, Diana smiled at him and tagged along.

David opened the door on the second sound of his door bell.

He opened his mouth to greet ,then, clamped it shut seeing the look on her face and the damsel standing behind her whose expression is unreadable.

He adjusted his tie , and greeted quietly “Good morning Mom”

“Can I come in Mr man!”Maggie ran out of patient, his behavior is quite odd this morning, she mused .

David moved to a side holding the door ajar , his mother walked past him and went to sit cross-legged on the cushion.

The young lady lifted her head high and walked gracefully past him to sit beside his mother.

“Sit down David, let’s talk!”Maggie said in a high tone, David closed the door and walked briskly to a seat.

Has she finally come to arrest him for not getting married?! but this lady is too stunning to be a police officer, let’s see!.

“Well, since you have refused to get married, I have decided to get one for you myself!”Maggie said looking at David straight in the eye.

David’s face paled, how awesome this is!!.He had always thought that he knew her well, but today he knew how wrong he has always been.She’s not serious!.

“What do you mean?”he asked now looking over at the lady sitted beside his mother.

She has carefully folded her hands on her laps keeps staring at it with an undivided attention that got him thinking if she’s acting shy or actually shy.

“I mean that I married a wife for you, and this is her sitting right in front of you!”Maggie explained pointing at Diana.

Diana never imagined this to be so complicated, she had put on a brave look when she’s walking past this strong auraed male that got her head spinning in one split second.

Tricia had always talked about her brother but she never mentioned how handsome and attractive he is and she had told herself that it’s nothing serious to act like a supposed wife of a lonely bachelor.

Right now, she doesn’t know if she would be able to continue this game, it’s really deadly because her heart has been pounding ever since she set her eyes on him.

When Maggie mentioned their mission and he gave her an It-better-not-be-you look, her heart sank, and as Maggie pointed at her.

The only thing that’s coming to her mind is to bounce out of this place and out of his killing gaze, if eyes where gun, she would be dead this very moment.

No! she’s not going to let this man get to her.
She lifted her chin high and slowly used her index finger to tuck strands of her hair to her ear, she licked her suddenly dry l-ips and looked at him straight in the eye.

“Hi, am Diana …..Diana Raymond, your new wife”She started extending a hand for shake, to the hot male who looked from his mother to the so-called wife in total amazement.

The look on his face is really amusing but Diana knew better than to laugh at that,she pretty well enjoys the show and wants it to last longer.

David adjusted his tie and gulped in air, he stood unsteadily and made for the door, when he opened the door.

He turned to face the old and young lady, while his hand remained on the knob, he said ;

“With due respect Mom, I would love you to get out of my house before I come back with your whatever you call her…..ahm…I was actually set to leave for work when you drove in, so…..bye”

Having said that, he walked out and shut the door behind him.

Diana looked at Maggie who is still mopping at the shutted door, she felt really sorry for her, she’s only trying to be a good mother, and this son of hers is not one you can play games with.

She touched her arm in a friendly manner and gazed at space when she heard the gate open and it closing after some while, she took a deep breath of relief.

“It’s ok mom, he will come around”Diana managed.

“What have I done to deserve this sort of treatment from my son!…”Maggie said admix tears, Diana wiped her uncontrollable tears with her palm and hugged her passionately.

“Let’s go Diana, am sorry for putting you through this nonsense”Maggie said but, Diana has a new idea, she wants to help this woman, she will stay ….

“No mom, am staying…. ”

Maggie looked up at her in surprise. “How do you mean?”She asked impatiently.

“He doesn’t seem like someone who would actually hurt a fly, I want to stay and help you get him to see reasons with you”

“What if he does something stupid?”

“I will take care of everything mom, don’t worry just go home and relax”.

Maggie couldn’t contain her joy.

“Thank you so much my dear, God will surely reward you amicably if you can help me get my son back”

“The only thing that has no cure is death, as for him, I will try my luck, I think he isn’t a bad person as he pretends to be, I will take care of him and I will do that alone, I think he will be more headstrong if he sees you here”Diana said thoughtfully.

“Ok, I will go, but please if he does something rash, don’t hesitate to call me or Tricia, and should I go with your bag?”

“Oh yeah my bag, let me see you off then I will carry it in with me, I have to stay here with it, at least for a change of clothes if he doesn’t throw me out of the window”Diana replied laughing huskily.

Maggie was amused but she’s not in the mood for fun this moment, all she wants is to have her son back to his normal self.

“Like seriously?!” Harry laughed at David’s tale, it sounds like a joke to him, he can’t even imagine his own mother bringing a woman for him with words that she’s actually his wife that she personally married for him, maybe David is making up this story .

“You think am lying?! I should have called you to come see for yourself this morning, my head have been banging all day long and I can’t even concentrate because the wh0le episode kept creeping into my head,am damn serious man!”David replied turning around in his office swinging chair, he doesn’t understand how he’s feeling right now.

“That’s too old fashioned,I mean I thought your mom is educated enough to know that such things don’t exist anymore”

“Well go tell her that!”David stood abruptly and shifted his chair, he faced the window and looked down with his hands shoved into his pockets.

The view will probably clear his head though it hadn’t worked since morning, it’s almost the nineth time he’s done this.

“It’s okay man,but hope they have left ?”Harry didn’t know if he just asked a question or made a plain statement, because David didn’t tell him they left or they stayed.

“I told them to leave,am sure my mom knows me well to go,but if they stayed back,I will surely do something stupid”He turned and took the bottle water on his table, he drained the water in,side and trashed the bottle.

“Huh?,man keep it calm,so,how’s the babe she brought with her?your wife,is she beautiful?”Harry mused rolling his eyes.

David looked at him angry and made for the door,Harry stood laughing and followed him out.

“I just want to know since you don’t want her maybe I will settle for her”Harry pushed on when they took the flight of stairs down.

“How about you go see for yourself, call my mom and get details, you two will make a perfect match”David said adjusting his ties.

They seem differently tight since morning, he knew it’s the tightness in his throat, but not ready to admit it, the tie takes the blame.

“That’s my gee, anyway I will like to drop in your house and get that stuff I told you about”Harry scratched his head funnily.

“I have told you am not lending you any of my dress, so hang off my shoulders man!”

Harry held him when he opened his car door to get in not ready to give up, he needs the dress to show off in this nights pool party;

“Man am following you with my car,we have already talked about this before please!”

David shrugged his hands off and got into his car,he ins**ted the key into the ignition and the car came to life,he looked at his friend and nodded his head .

Harry jumped up in excitement and in seconds he’s slowly following David’s car with his’ to his house.

“Ooops! David man when did you start cleaning?!”Harry exclaimed, amazed at how clean David’s living room is.

And the place is all rearranged to be more beautiful and homely, he never imagined David has time for any other place except his bedroom where he stays regularly to do his business at home.

“And where’s that aroma coming from?, don’t tell me you have already called one night stand chick and you didn’t care to tell me, now I know why you didn’t want me to come here in the first place! gosh! “Harry continued rattling.

“Can you please shut up!”David lost it, this is not his doings. And the aroma he’s perceiving is that of his special and favorite food, fried rice and cooked eggs.

The mixture is so adoring as it filtered into his nose,he licked his l-ips in anticipation.

He looked around his living room again and thought hærd, maybe his mother stayed back to clean up the house.

There’s no one else who does that, not even Tricia, she just comes and goes like network not wanting to associate herself with anything except money for school when she’s ready to leave.

And she’s probably the one making his favorite as an apology for her inappropriate behavior this morning, kind of acceptable to him.He smiled cunningly and headed for the kitchen.

“Please get me a glass of cold juice,you don’t manners you son of a bitch”Harry teased sitting on the couch.

David gave him a last funny look before opening the kitchen door.

Lo and behold! It’s the so-called wife!.
David gave her a stern look when she turned around in surprise.

“God! You scared the living hell out of me”She exclaimed putting her palm on her chest and taking deep breaths.

David didn’t care if he scared her or that she’s having a heart attack, all in his mind is anger. total anger!.

“I thought I made it clear to you that I didn’t want to see you when I come back before I left!,what are you still doing here?!”David yelled.

That is an intimidating remark, his look is enough to send her flying out of mother earth, but she’s not ready to give up on this arrogant young man.

She has to show him that the power of a woman exists, she lifted her chin up and stood giddily looking him straight in the eye.

“I’m your wife young man and this is supposed to be my home!”She licked her l-ips and eyed him sed-ctively.

What’s she doing?!, trying to sed-ce him?!, interesting.

“Young lady, I don’t know what you are called and I don’t care to know, all I have to say to you is please and please, leave my house now that am being so nice”He said calmly and stared hærd on her unflinching face.

She must have practiced hærd for this bravery is not a one-day task,maybe it’s inbuilt.

She simply turned to face her cooking pot,she took a plate and dished out food.

David swallowed his saliva and licked his l-ips absent mindedly, the food is tempting just as the person who made it.

He couldn’t take his eyes off her backside, she had dressed in a simple extravagant but long shirt, it hid her full body well, but he saw beyond it to her tempting skin.

He shoved his hands into his pockets to avoid breaking his standards.

“I don’t remember telling you to scoop food into a plate here, I said I need you out of my house now!”David yelled at her back when she slowly putted the plate now full of her wonderfully prepared food down.

Not even a hair on her head moved.
“Do you mind if I put eggs in your food, I don’t know how you will like it, or maybe I should fry plantains for you?”She asked taking another plate to fill.

He raised a brow in amazement,this lady seems not to understand English at all!.

“David what’s keeping……….”Harry started pulling the door wide open to see the beauty with a plate looking inquisitively at David whose face looked funny.

That’s enough to shut his mouth, he had expected to see Maggie and her son arguing which is why he decided to check for himself.

He had inwardly believed those words he personally made up to tease his friend and now?! What’s happening here?! that’s the question that popped into his head but he couldn’t voice it out.

“Well,eehm,….am sorry, I actually requested for a glass of juice…..you…… I…”Harry stammered looking at no one in particular.

“Oh! you must be my husband’s friend, sorry he has no manners, go to the living room and relax your limbs while I get you juice “Diana ch¡pped in.

This sounds more interesting, she will make a guy jealous. She smiled her killer smile as she came closer to him and hugged him, she then added “I’m Mrs Diana David dear and what’s your lovely name?”

She held him at arms length and gave him pecks on each of his cheeks.
Harry smiled provocatively playing along,David couldn’t stand it anymore,he shouted ;

“And what the hell are you doing!?!”this goes to no one in particular,he’s pissed off.

“What do you mean what the hell are you doing honey? am only trying to be nice and get to know my husband’s friend”Diana replied raising a brow in amusement, is he jealous? he said he didn’t want her, funny.

“What do you know about my friend that you are being so nice!, you know what!…..you two are perfect together so suit yourselves!”He bursted out and walked past them .

Diana and Harry watched him leave,then looked at each other quizzically.

“That’s a good talent you have got there”Harry laughed.

“I should be the one saying that to you, you played along though we have just met like we planned this together”Diana mused and handed him a glass of wine.

“Thanks”he said raising the glass to his mouth, took a sip and made for the door”I had actually come for this, anyways you are beautiful and am sure my friend will like you ,if he doesn’t am available”he added as he went to the living room.

Diana opened her mouth to talk and ended up smiling, she turned to continue what she was doing before her husband interrupted.Her husband! jeez!…”Diana calm down,this is just a game”she whined to herself.

What she doesn’t understand is why her heart keeps jumping in jubilation at the sight of him and though he had been rude to her, she loves the way he talks, so sweet and manly.

His l-ips! oh those l-ips will do wonders if it touches hers, it will taste heaven, and his large hands! heavens gate will open when he touches her with then,Women must be hovering around him like bees to honey .

Diana kept fantasizing about them together that she absent mindedly dropped her hands on top of the cooker which is still hot,she winced in pain and ran to get water.

Tricia heard voices when she parked her car beside his brothers.She looked around and saw Harry’s car,she called the gateman who has just closed the gate and heading into his quarters.

“Peter do you have a clue what’s going on in,side?”

“No miss Trish,I have heard voices but I don’t know what it’s about”Peter said uneasily.

“Ok fine, you can go now”

She headed to the door and thought of using the doorbell but rather pushed the door open.

She and Diana had said to pretend that they don’t know each other when her brother is around,so she feigned her surprise by looking at Diana who was serving Harry on the dinning.

Her brother stood behind him shouting angrily at his friend who seemed less concerned as he enjoyed his food.

“Thank God you are here Tricia,you are the only one I know who can talk some sense into your brother,tell him to get off my neck let me eat in peace!”Harry bluffed.

Tricia came in and closed the door quietly.She went straight to her favorite s₱0t on the couch to sit down.

“Am lost here,I don’t know what’s going on,can someone explain to me?”She questioned when she removed her shoes , taking a deep breath and looking at each one of them in feigned confusion.

“You must be my husband’s sister!, am so sorry please forgive my manners,I didn’t get to meet you when I visited the family house”Diana hummed,she ran to her and extended a hand”Am Diana your brother’s new wife”she introduced herself.

“My brother’s wife!?”Tricia stood in awe and looked at David who stood looking at them in disgust.

“She’s saying balderdash, your mother brought her here this morning and she had refused to go back to wherever she’s from, I wonder how much she paid her to do this but, you know what?!…..am going to double it because am fed up with all this nonsense!”

David stormed upstairs, then turned to add “And you Harry, I don’t want to see you here when I come down here anymore!”.

“Ooops!”Harry breathed and smiled at the two ladies”Thanks for the food,it tastes great I really enjoyed it,I will get going now”he said standing up to leave.

“Ok dear,drive carefully,I hope to see you next time,bye!”Diana replied

He waved when he went outside before closing the door, in seconds they heard the gate click open and again close.

Diana and Tricia fell on the couch and laughed silently ,they really caught a good cruise.

“Gosh did you see his face?!”Tricia whispered to Diana.

“Well I must confess that am enjoying this, he’s not as bad as we label him to be”Diana said looking around to make sure he’s nowhere near.

“I just came to check on you,since you are enjoying your honeymoon,I bet I have to go”

“Without talking to him?!”Diana raised a brow.

“Mmm…..no, I have to leave, I have an important meeting, I will call him, he should know that am angry and I need he and his mother to explain better to me”Tricia replied tucking out her tongue funnily.

“Important meeting or another of your endless dates”Diana said rolling her eyes, Tricia made faces at her and wore her shoes to leave.
