Bella’s POV

“What was that? What did she mean by all those nonsense she spilled?!” I asked as Brie and I walked back to the Mansion

“It was a bad idea to come meet her” Brie said

“A very bad one” I nodded

“So…. should we tell Jayden what the priestess just said?” Brie asked

“Certainly not, unless you want the priestess to be found dead by tomorrow morning”

“You are right” Brie nodded

“Let’s just forget about what she said Brie, we shouldn’t let it disturb us” I said and Brie smiled

We walked back home in silence
And just like me, am sure Brie was still meditating on what the priestess said
Will one of us really die?

Luna’s POV
……… “Stop!!” I screamed as a hand ripped out Jayden’s heart from his chest and he fell on the ground, dead……

“Luna! Luna!” someone shook me, jerking me up from my terrifying nightmare

“Are you okay?” Jayden asked “You were crying in your sleep”

“I had the dream again Jayden”

“The dream of my death?” he asked and I nodded

“It was more vivid and real this time, I really do not think you should go anywhere tonight, please Jayden please” I pleaded

“We’ve talked about this Luna, tonight is the night of The Hunt and as an Alpha, I must be present, I cannot abandon my pack”

“Even if your presence might spell doom for you?” I asked

“We aren’t totally sure the Demon Wolf will appear tonight and even if he does, I am not that easy to kill Luna, you know that right?” he asked and I slowly nodded

“So quit getting worked up over nothing” he said as he stood up “I told you to never entertain fear, fear is the beginning of failure”

“Fear is the beginning of failure” I repeated after him

“Good girl” he said and I smiled

“Go get ready, we have a morning training to do” he said

“Yeah, I’ll be ready in a moment” I said and dashed off to the bathroom…

Jayden’s POV
I went downstairs and bumped into Landon

“Good morning Alpha” he greeted

“How’s the preparation for tonight?” I asked

“It’s going very well, after all the recent killings, its nice to finally get the wolves back together like we used to” Landon said

“Right, but you shouldn’t relax just yet Landon, the Demon Wolf can appear anytime so we must always be on our guard” I said and he nodded

“Is there anything else?” I asked as I noticed he wasn’t leaving

“The race” he said “You promise to approve of Brie and I if I come victorious, when is the race going to hold?”

“You seem impatient” I said
“Anyway, let’s survive tonight first then we’ll talk about that tomorrow” I said

“Okay” he nodded and made to leave

“Landon” I called and he looked back
“You really love Brie don’t you?”

“From when we were kids till now, I’ve always loved her” he said

“If we survive tonight, then I’ll approve of you too” I said

“Really?!” he said excited “But…. are we…. are we expecting an attack tonight?”

“Just be on your guard and tell everyone else to be never let their guard down, the Demon Wolf can emerge anytime”

“Okay Alpha, thank you so much, you’ve…. you’ve done so much for me Jayden, you spared my life years ago when you could’ve killed me, my parents killed your parents and made your life miserable yet you spared my life and brought me under your care and treated me like your brother, and now, you will really give Brie and I your approval? Thank you so much Jayden” he said

“Stop Landon, don’t get all emotional on me, I haven’t given my approval just yet” I said and climbed back upstairs

“Thank you Jayden!” I heard him yell and I tried not to smile

“You ready?” I asked Luna as I walked back into the room

“Yeah, let’s go training” she smiled

Brie’s POV
I sat on my bed nursing my aching head
I couldn’t sleep last night, the priestess words kept resonating in my ears
One of us will die without a mate and the other will live without a mate

I tried my best to forget what she said and not believe her
But she is the priestess, as much I hate to admit it, she’s very powerful and she never lies, her words are straight from the Moon goddess

“Stop thinking Brianna, you only making your head ache more” I sighed

I heard a knock on my door
“It’s not locked” I managed to say and Landon came in looking excited

“What’s up with you? Did you win a lottery?” I asked

“Oh I won more than that” he said

“Which is?”

“Jayden’s approval! Jayden said he’ll give us his approval tomorrow, he’ll permit us to get mated” he squealed

“Really?” I asked wide-eyed “So no more race?”

“No more race” he said

Wow, I never thought it was going to be this easy
The thoughts of the priestess words flashed accross my mind again
My head ached more and I winced

“Are you okay Brie?” Landon asked with a worried look as he quickly sat by my side and held my hand
“Is something wrong?” he asked

“Nothing” I replied

“Maybe you feel am rushing this? I guess I should slow down with the mating stuff, perhaps, you’ve still not given me your approval” he said

“No Landon, don’t stop, don’t slow down, I heard some things yesterday and I realized that life can be very fleeting, one does not know what will happen next so what’s the point of wallowing in sadness and preventing yourself from being happy so am giving you my approval now, from now on, am just going to live the way I want, I don’t want to have any regrets if I end up dying soon”

“Why will you die soon?” Landon asked with a puzzled look

“Nothing Landon, just…. you have my approval” I said and he hugged me

“I have no idea what’s bothering you Brie but no matter what happens, I will always love you and I will get bonded to you, I will make you my mate Brianna Ashford, I promise” he said calmly

Bella’s POV
“What’s up with you? What do you need to tell me that couldn’t wait till I’ve finished from work?” Kilan asked as he walked into his office where I was already seated

“I….. I…..” I stuttered not knowing exactly how to say what’s in my mind

“What’s wrong Bella?” he asked

“The priestess of my Pack, she said some weird things about my sister and I, she….. she said one of us will die Kilan”

“She predicted that either you or your sister will die?” he asked and I nodded

“And you believed that?” he asked

“Am trying not to Kilan, but she’s the priestess of the Moon goddess”

“Whoever she is, I don’t believe in visions or predictions Bella and neither should you, you make your own destiny yourself, only you, no one gets to decide how your life will turn out except you” Kilan said

“I know, you are right but…. but am just scared, I do not want me or my sister to die”

“You are afraid of death?”he asked

“Everyone is afraid of death Kilan”

“I am not afraid death, I am not afraid of anything” he said

“We are all afraid something Kilan, maybe not death but everyone has something they are afraid of”

“Well am not everyone” he smirked and I stared at him for a moment

“So you aren’t afraid of anything?” I asked and he nodded
“Nothing at all?” I asked again

“Nothing at all” he said

“Then why haven’t you mentioned this feeling?” I asked

“What feeling?”

“This feeling we get when we are together, don’t deny it Kilan, I feel it and am sure you feel it too, the attraction, the craving, each time am with you I can feel my wolf yearning for your touch and am sure you feel it too, isn’t that the reason why you never mentioned it? Because you are afraid to love?” I asked

“Bella…. ”

“Do not deny it Kilan! Look into my eyes and tell me you do not feel the same way I do for you” I said but he kept on avoiding my eyes

“Look into my eyes Kilan!!” I yelled

“I feel the same way!!!” he yelled back

“See? I am right”

“But this….. I ignored it for a reason Bella, you and I? We can never be” he said

“And why is that?”

“Because you know nothing about me, I am dangerous” he said

“I know your name is Kilan Castle, and I also know you have a sister whom you have a complicated relationship with and I just found out that your hard heart beats for me too, bit by bit, I am getting to know you Kilan and we need not to rush it”

“You do not understand Bella, this is not supposed to happen, I am really dangerous, I have things to do, missions to complete yet my….. my thoughts have only being of you, each time I wake, my mind darts towards my moments with you, I crave to be in your presence whenever you aren’t with me and I find myself smiling each time I think of you, this was not supposed to happen Bella” he said and I moved closer to him

“But it did, so what are you going to do about it?”

“Forget you, I am going to forget you and this feelings, that is what am going to do” he said and I stood on my toes and placed a soft kiss on his lips

“Can you… forget about me?” I asked and he hesitated for a moment
Then he pulled me closer and kissed me back but this time, it was a more intense kiss, one overflowing with emotions

He suddenly cut the kiss abruptly
“You making my control slip away Bella, you are making me loose my rationality” he said

“Being rational doesn’t really help either of us Kilan, if I were rational, I wouldn’t have made friends with you in the first place”

“Do you really not care about about who I am or where I come from?” he asked

“I once did but I don’t anymore, all that is clear to me now is that I want you” I said

“Even if I come from the worst family and harbor dark secrets, would you still want me?” he asked

“Everyone has a dark secret Kilan and no matter how worse you think your family is, I think I’ll understand cause my family is pretty unique itself so I will always want you Kilan, its a feeling I cannot deny” I said

He was silent for a moment, then he looked at me
“I have a mission I must complete tonight” he said

“Tonight is the full moon night, it’s the night of The Hunt for all wolves, will you be going on a hunt too?” I asked and he nodded

“Yes, I will be going on a hunt tonight but when am done with my hunt, when I’ve caught my prey, I will come to you and I will tell you everything you need to know about me, and I’ll tell you how much my wolf longs for you” he said

“Now am eager to see tomorrow” I smiled

“For now, I have some preparations to get done, I will see you tomorrow and I will tell you everything you want to know” he said and I nodded

“Sure, till tomorrow then” I smiled and left

Luna’s POV
“I think am finally getting the hang of this” I said as I rolled the stick in my hand

“Right” Jayden said he sat on a log of wood sharpening the edge a wooden staff

“But if am going fight a real enemy, I don’t think my stick skills will help, am pretty sure it’s going to be useless especially against the Demon Wolf”

“You will never fight the Demon Wolf Luna, I would never let that happen” he said in a serious tone and I smiled

“You seem to really care about me now” I said and he remained silent
“You care about me right?” I asked again

“What do you want me to say?!” he asked

“I just need to hear it from you, do you care about me?”

He stared at me for a moment and then moved his focus back to the wooden staff
“I’ve always cared about you, since we were kids” he said and I smiled

“Here” he said as he handed me the staff with sharpened edges “If anything happens tonight and I am not by your side, use that to defend yourself”

“Just a log of wood? Why don’t I get a sword or at least a bow and arrow?!” I asked

“Well I do not want to come pick up your dead body after you mistakenly struck yourself with the sword or shot yourself with the arrow while trying to use it, this log of wood, is safer for you” he said and I scoffed

“You are still mean”

“It’s getting dark and it’s almost time for The Hunt, let’s get back inside” he said and started walking towards the Mansion

“What about a gun a then?” I asked

“A mere gun cannot kill a werewolf” he said

“But a mere stick can?”

“If used well, yes it can” he said

“If used well, yes it can” I immitated and he stopped walking and faced me

“Did you just mimicked my words?”

“Uhhhh….. It’s almost time for The Hunt, we not get back into the Mansion” I said as I quickly ran off towards the Mansion and I heard him laugh

Jayden’s POV
I wore a black trouser and I white vest and stood in front of the mirror

“What’s that mark on your shoulder?” Luna asked pointing at my shoulder

“The Crescent moon Mark, every born Crescent Moon wolf has it, and we burn it to the the skin of those we turn to become one of us, it’s one of the things that connects a pack” I explained

She moved closer to me and touched the mark
“It’s beautiful” she said and I grabbed her hand

“Don’t do that” I said

“Do what? Does it hurt when I touch it?” she asked

“No, that’s not what I meant, it’s just…..touching me right now will distract my mind from focusing on what is to come” I said

“I shouldn’t touch you then” she quickly dropped her hand “You must remain focused tonight, if the Demon Wolf really comes, you have to be totally on your guard for you to survive”

I stared at her for a moment before pulling her into my embrace
“I am not dying tonight Luna, I promise and you know I always fulfill my promise”

There was a sudden knock on the door and I quickly let go of Luna
Landon walked in

“Everyone is ready Alpha, the whole pack is waiting right in front of the Mansion” he said

“I’ll be there” I replied and he left

“Shall we go?” I asked Luna and she nodded

We walked together to the front of the Mansion where all the wolves had assembled, with my sisters and Landon at the front

“We’ve all had a pretty rough month” I began “I got Mated and the Demon Wolf emerged and people got killed, our fellow wolves got killed but tonight, tonight is full moon night and it is a new beginning, tonight is the night of The Hunt!!!” I yelled and they all screamed

“Tonight is the night we reconnect with our wolves, the night we get stronger, tonight we will march into the forest in our wolf form and giving in to our primal instinct we will Hunt!” I said and they screamed in excitement

“But I must remind you all not to loose yourself in the thrilling moment, we still have an enemy lurking in the shadows so while you go out their and hunt, you watch your six and stay on gaurd, if you notice anything or if you are in danger, make a distress howl and I will locate you” I said
“We do have an unknown enemy but that won’t stop us from hunting tonight because when we face a foe, we do not cower in fear, what we do is fight!!!” I yelled and their screams filled the air
“So go on, be the wolves you are meant to be, give in to your instincts and Hunt!!!”

They screamed as they all transformed into their wolf form and ran off into the woods

“Brie and Bella, you stay here with Luna, Landon take Andrew and John with you, walk round the woods and make sure everything is fine and no one is getting hurt” I said and they all nodded

“What will you do?” Luna asked

“I’ll be in the woods too, making sure everything is fine” I said

I made to leave but Luna grabbed my hand
“Let me come with you”

“No, I need you to stay here, where it’s safe” I said as I made her let go of me

“I’ll be fine” I said

“Stay safe brother” the twins said and I nodded

Luna’s POV
I stood in front of the Mansion with Brie and Bella, pacing around

“Why are you so worried Luna, it’s just a Hunt, they’ve done this every full moon so they’ll be fine” Bella said

“We all know it’s different this time Bella” Brie said “We have no idea when the Demon Wolf will kill again, I just hope he doesn’t come tonight”

“I can’t just stay here, I need to find Jayden” I said

“No, Jayden asked you to stay here, it’s safe for you here” Bella said

“And what if it’s not safe for him there?! What if he’s in danger out there in the woods?”

“Jayden will be fine Luna, he can take care of himself, he always does” Brie said

“Isn’t that what you all have always said!!” I yelled “You all believed that he’ll be fine because he puts on act! You all depended on him but none of you never cared to ask how he’s doing because you all believed he’s strong and he will be fine!!! If you were the ones in the woods, he would come after you just to make sure you are fine so can you not, for once your lives fight for and care about him too!!!” I yelled angrily

“Am…. am sorry…. I didn’t mean to say all that I was just…. I was just really worried about Jayden” I said

“You are right Luna, if we were the ones in the woods, Jayden won’t stay where it’s safe, he will come after us” Bella said

“We’ve neglected Jayden too much, thinking he’s strong so he’ll be fine, I can’t believe I didn’t realize it all this while, we will go after him, he’s our brother and he’s in the woods and we if the Demon Wolf will come again tonight, so we need to make sure he’s fine” Brie said

“Let’s go then” I said and we all walked into the woods

We searched the woods but heard nothing, then there was a sudden Wolf howl

“That’s a howl of distress” Brie said

“Someone has been attacked!” Bella said

“I need to find Jayden, we need to make sure he’s fine” I said as my voice quavered

“If he’s in the woods then he’ll definitely move in direction of the howl and I suggest we do too” Bella said and I nodded

We moved on, walking as fast and quietly as we could
There was a sudden swoosh sound and we stopped

“Someone is coming” Brie muttered

Bella swiftly turned back to throw a punch at our intruder but Jayden caught the punch

“Nice punch Bella” he said

“Jayden! You are fine” I said

“Of course am fine, but am not sure of I can say the same for you three, what the hell are you doing in the woods when I clearly instructed you guys to stay in the Mansion?!” he asked

“We wanted to make sure you were alright” Brie said

“What was that howl? Did someone get hurt?” I asked

“I was trying to go find out but then I bumped into you guys” he said

“Then let’s go find out, someone might need our help” Bella said

“No, I will go find out, you three are going back to the Mansion where it’s safe!”

“We aren’t leaving you here alone Jayden” I said

“Stop this madness Luna!”

“We are with her brother, we are going to stick with you this time” Brie said

“What?! You all will go back to the Mansion right now where it’s safe!!” he said

“You know brother, we can spend the rest of the night rest of the night right here in this spot with you trying to get us back to the Mansion or we can just go find and help the wolf that just howled, it’s your choice brother but you should know that as we waste time, the wolf might be in more danger” Bella said

“You!….. we will address this later, stay behind me” he said as he moved forward and we followed him

He suddenly stopped moving and we stopped too

“What’s wrong?” I asked

“I smell blood, wolf’s blood, someone has either been killed or injured” he said

We moved further and we saw two wolves on the ground
Jayden moved closer and touched them

“They are dead” he said

“Do you smell that?” Brie asked

“Wolf’s bane” Jayden said “It’s coming from the dead wolves, their neck were slashed with a sword slicked with wolf’s bane, which means….”

“This was done by the Demon Wolf” Bella completed

Jayden suddenly raised his hand up
“Someone is coming, stay behind me!” he said

“Your hearing is still so very perfect Jayden” Audrey said as she suddenly emerged from the woods
“Too bad you weren’t able to hear it when the Demon Wolf rescued me” she said

“Where is the Demon Wolf?” Jayden asked

“Patience, you’ll meet him tonight, that I can promise you, remember I once told you to take care of your heart cause it won’t be their in your chest much longer? I hope you took my advice seriously” Audrey smiled

“The Demon Wolf Audrey, where is he?!” Jayden yelled and someone suddenly stepped out of the woods

“Kilan!!!” Bella yelled in surprise

“What the hell are you doing here Bella?!” he asked

“You know him?” Jayden asked Bella

“So…. you ….. you are the Demon Wolf?” Bella stuttered

“Oh no, he’s not the demon wolf, he’s my brother” Audrey said

“What?!” Bella exclaimed

“So where is the Demon Wolf?” Jayden asked and Audrey smiled

“Behind you” she said

We all turned back to see a man standing with a sword dripping off blood
But the man was all too familiar, one we never expected nor would’ve ever suspected

“Landon?!!!”…..
