LYRA
DAY 3
I fixed on my wig properly, my mask already on. I sat in my bathroom, my phone in my hand, ready for a live stream. I logged into my account and turned on the live stream.
‘Hello guys, how are you all? Sorry I’ve been scarce for days, been having a wonderful vacation and finding peace. I’m really sorry I cancelled the concerts and didn’t give any reasonable explanation, honestly, I don’t have a reason but the fact that I’m coming down with a sickness. I don’t want to bother you all with the name of the sickness but I know you all will support me no matter what. Thank you all for being great Rubians ever since I became me and be rest assure that Ruby Mask will be back, until then Rubes.’ I cut off the live stream and sighed, f-cked up things.
I removed my wig and mask, shove it into my bag and came out, Phoebe was there humming to herself with ears plugs.
‘What’s up Phebe!’ I popped, she didn’t hear me. I hid the bag and went to her. ‘Phoebe!!!!!!!!!’ She scre-med and flew away from me.
‘Geez Lyrie, you scared me.’
‘What’s up? You don’t look too good.’ I asked laughingly, she knocked my head. I went to the vanity and sat down, my thoughts drowning me entirely. I sighed when I was tired of thinking and looked at her through the mirror, she was thinking too.
‘A penny for your thought.’ I said tapping her.
‘And chocolate for interrupting.’ She said sharply, I burst into laughter.
‘Seriously? Chocolate?’
‘Sorry, it’s an habit.’
‘It’s okay, my dad always make up useless stuff too like….’
‘Ice creams and bananas are the food of life.’ I said mimicking dad’s voice.
‘And I will always tell him that makes no sense, your dad is a weirdo.’
‘Wacko actually. How did you two meet again?’
‘Well,’ she paused dramatically and stepped back. ‘It was a stormy night and the sky was enraged, the earth was rumbling…..’
‘Really?’ I asked laughingly, she used a very ridiculous voice.
‘Nope, but I like to pretend it was, now back to the story…..the earth was shaking and the wind blowing against my windows, brrrrrrrr wind wind….’ I was laughing. ‘I ran to the window to shut it but bam! There was a soaking w-t man covered in mud and cake….’
‘Can you tell me the real version of the story?’
‘You’re a fun sponge. I was at the salon in a rainy day, was closing up for the day since I was assigned to close the salon that day. A man ran in crying that his wonderful hair got soak, he begged and begged and begged and begged until I agreed and then fixed his hair. During that time, we talked a lot and I guess that’s when we clicked,’ she frowned. ‘I still prefer the mud cover dude version.’
I smiled.
‘You’re beautiful, have anyone ever told you that?’
‘I’m not beautiful, just ugly.’
‘Aren’t you standing in front of a mirror?’ I asked chucklingly. ‘You’re damn gorgeous, you should know that.’
‘Thank you, it’s great hearing that from Ruby Mask.’ I gasped.
‘What are you talking about?’
‘Don’t lie, I’ve seen the wig before and my nieces and nephews are super fans, there’s more you in my house than in here.’ I bit my bottom lip. ‘Hey, don’t worry, I won’t tell them so you won’t see them at your doorstep.’
‘I’m not Ruby Mask…’
‘That’s not something I want to argue about so I’ll let it slide. Anyways, you’re a great singer just like your mother but too much like your mother.’
I frowned.
‘Too much?’
‘Too much.’ Hmmmm.

‘My love please, just hear me out!!!’ He shouted running after me. I wasn’t ready to listen to his lies. ‘Lyra, the love of my life, please.’
‘Why do you need to explain? It’s none of my business, I have no right to dictate for you.’
‘My love, you know I will never do anything to harm you, just listen.’ I stopped at my car and sighed. ‘Thank you.’
‘I only dated her because Xino begged me to. The lady stole something from him and I had to get it back, I swear my angel, I didn’t date her because I love or care about her. You have to believe me…..Phoebe help me ask for forgiveness here, please.’
‘I wasn’t there, why should I beg.’ She scoffed.
‘Phoebe please, I beg you….’
‘Lyra your dad said I should beg you, please listen to him.’ She said unenthusiastically.
‘Phoebe, you s-ck.’
‘Yeah, I know.’ She smirked.
‘Lyra….’
‘Dad, it’s okay, it’s in the past now,’ I glanced at Phoebe. ‘I really want you to date now, it’s been too long.’
‘But I don’t want to….’
‘Dad, I know you don’t want to break your promise even if you are dying of blue balls but don’t you think it’s time you think about dating? You’re not getting any younger, you need some company.’
‘So I should get a woman that will turn you to Cinderella or Snow white? I don’t want that.’
‘Nobody can turn me to Snow White, I’m Lyra Oceans.’
‘Yeah,’ Phoebe rubbed her arms sadly, I smirked. ‘I’ll be fine love.’
‘You should try, I mean look at Phoebe, she’s happily dating.’ She opened her mouth to protest but quickly shut it.
‘I have to go to work, I’m running late.’
‘Yeah, just let me get my car keys….’
‘I’ll take a cab…’
‘I thought you agreed to let me drop you off?’
‘I change my mind.’ She ran away, double interesting.
‘Why is she so cold to me? I didn’t offend her.’ I clicked my tongue, yup, definitely playing Cupid.

‘HOP!!!!’ Mom roared kicking my butt, I hit my head on the ground and whimpered. Mom caught me smoking, Xeris denied me and Xena suddenly lost her memories, I was on my own. We were at the garden, Xerra was watering the anemone while Xena watched the angel fishes. Xeris, hid behind a tree.
‘I’ve been frog jumping all morning, please let me rest.’
‘Oh yeah?’ She lashed my unclad back with her chains while Xerra laughed. I rolled on the ground crying bitterly. ‘After warning you against bad behavior, you all still went ahead and did rubbish, I didn’t say a thing and now you’re now smoking and poisoning your father!!!! Does your father smoke?!!!! DO I SMOKE!!!!’
‘Mom, I’m sorry, please forgive me.’
‘You womanize, you misbehave, you smoke, drink and kill like people are chickens. Who ruined Adrienette? You or Xeris?’
‘Xeris,’ I sobbed. ‘I’d nothing to aaaaaaah!’
‘Don’t lie to my face you piece of trash!!!! Xeris!!!!! Xeris!!!!!’
‘Ma?’ He asked shakily coming out of the tree, the only thing and person he fears is mom. ‘You called me.’
‘I am very disappointed in you, where were you when your brother was smoking and drinking? Didn’t I tell you to watch him?’
‘I wasn’t aware….’
‘Come here,’ she commanded. ‘Now!!!!’
‘Yes ma.’ He scurried to her. She cleared his feet and crashed on the ground, she flogged him and me and we dared not stop her or we’re dead. We were crying and begging but she wasn’t listening, she was furious. She stopped, raised our heads by grabbing our necks and squeezed them.
‘The next time I see you near any alcohol, cigarette, women or any other bad things again, I will personally pull a bullet into your skulls. I suffered to bring you into this world, I know how hopeless I was before I finally conceived the both of you and that foolish sister of yours, I’ve killed before so don’t you think killing the both of you isn’t possible. I won’t take this shit ever again, this is my final warning. Kapish?’
‘Uhm.’
‘I asked, kapish?’ She bashed our head together and threw us on the ground. ‘Five hundred laps around the house, Xerra watch them.’ She threw the wh¡p away and stomped out.
‘See what you made mom do you idiot!!!’ Xeris roared and pinned me on the ground by strangling the life out of me. I struggled to breathe.
‘Xeris, you’re killing him!!!!’ Xerra shouted trying to pull him away. I managed to push him off and tried to stand. He got up before me and wrapped the chain around my head. ‘Xeris stop……Xena, get mom!!!!!!’
# LYRA
I walked to Hilda’s car with her, Xeris didn’t come to school, they all didn’t. Xena said it was something urgent so we had to go see.
‘Lyra!!!!’ Someone shouted, I stopped and turned on my heels. It was my cousin, Drizella. ‘Hey, what’s up?’
‘I should be asking you that.’
‘I just want to warn you about Violet, she’s on to you.’
‘Meaning?’
‘She’s obsess with Xeris and you’re dating him, she’s going to kill you.’
‘Well, tell her goodluck.’ I said nonchalantly and walked to the car and got in.
‘Shouldn’t we be worried about Violet?’ Hilda asked smirkingly.
‘She’s a kid, that’s all.’ I said smilingly. She laughed and drove off.
‘I wonder what’s up with the triplet.’ She mused.
‘Me too, but she said it has something to do with their mom going military crazy again.’
‘Military crazy?’
‘The period in which she goes heartless on them. The last time I witness that, she almost burnt Xerra alive.’ She mouthed a wow and chuckled.
‘Cool.’
I wonder what she did to them.
