LYRA
Hmmm, who are the Oceans? Well the Oceans is a large family spreading allover USA and USE. Our family was so large, that we could start up a church with just ourselves but we had one curse. Our family was cursed with more males than females. It was like we were amazonians but only that it was all men, no women. No female lasted more than seven years, they died. The females that lives are those adopted or married into the family.
It’s the opposite of the Xanders curse.
Theirs was the real Amazonians, with all the beautiful females you can find but only three males.
It might be hærd to believe but it was true.
According to our history, both our ancestors did something to offend a certain god and refused to redeem themselves. We could have done the redemption but they don’t even know where to start from or they just don’t care.
Er, the main point is that I was literally the only female in the Oceans. Only true blooded female that is.
The rest were adopted
I can’t even fully remember my family tree, I slept through all the classes and used my book or whatever that weird paddy sheet thing was to practice origami. I only read to pass then and flushed it out afterwards.
I hate books.
I hate history more.
So many dates and numbers and long boring names and learning the Oceans history was a do or die.
I preferred to be born in The Xanders, they are not old fashion and force members of the family to read about dead people that doesn’t concern them.
To further exaggerate how my family s-cked, the family house was a massive castle and the true heir must live in it. That’s where my dad comes in but fortunately, mom refused so we had our own house.
‘She’s here!’ My loud Aunt I don’t remember her name shrieked pointing to the car I was in. As the only true blood, I was greatly loved. Don’t really care if anyone hates me, that’s their problem. I pulled down my veil completely to cover my black mask. The car stopped moving. ‘Oh my precious girl!’ She yanked the door open, pulled me out and crushed me in a hug. ‘You’ve gotten so big!’
‘I can’t breathe…help me.’ I cried.
‘Okay Pepper, let her go.’ Dad scolded her. She lifted me up, spinning me around happily. ‘Pepper please, don’t kill my only joy.’ He pulled me away from her. ‘The love of my life!!!!’
‘The king of my world!!!!’ I shouted back and hugged him. We held hands and jumped, squealing like girls….er…I am but not him….you understand.
‘Look at you my little mouse,’ he cooed ruffling my veil. I pulled it down well.
‘Daaaaad, I’ve told you, I’m a lady now, not a mouse.’
‘But you’re soooooo cute!’ He squealed pinching my cheeks. He had different personalities and two of them were flirtatiousness and teenage girl enthusiasm.
‘Daaaaad! I’m 21 now, treat me like an adult.’ I said poutingly. He twinkled his sparkling green eyes with a look of adoration.
‘You’ve grown up so tall and fat. The last time I saw you, you were a little twig.’ I frowned.
‘The day your madness will lose completely, I would be so glad to yell in everyone’s face “in your face!” Then all of you would adore me.’ My dad’s paternal…no maternal cousin uncle 29 said confidently.
Sad reality, my family are a bunch of mentally unstable people. They are all crazy and my father is number one, a complete childish goon brain.
‘At least I’m not the one who goes around with his p-nts in,side out.’ Uncle 29 looked at himself and shrugged
‘It’s my own fashion.’
‘Idiot.’
‘Look I just had a long journey, I need to rest.’ I sighed before they started their childish argument. Dad squeaked and carried me like I was his wife, I squealed and laughed. Uncle 37 carried my bags for me.
For the rest of the evening, I got a lot of stupid questions but I survived.
The next day was uneventful for me, the family threw a party to celebrate my return. Only for family members only, wore a stupid red sari and covered my face. Most of my cousins showed up but few, the most annoying ones didn’t.
Thank God.
‘Aunt Suzy….’
‘Sarah,’ she corrected. ‘She’s Suzy.’ He pointed to the tub of lard woman with baldhead. Who married this one?
‘Oh, I’m sorry. You’re closer to my dad, right?’
‘He doesn’t even know I exist,’ she said emotionlessly. I bit my lip. ‘You’re looking for Edeline but she’s not here.’
‘Okay where can I find Amelita?’
‘She’s probably with Michelle.’
‘Mm hm, who’s Michelle again? I can’t remember.’
‘The tall dark skinned woman with gray eyes.’
‘And red hair, right?’
‘Ginger.’
‘Oh, okay.’ I smiled nervously and walked out. I searched for her and found her in the midst of so many Uncles. ‘Excuse me, Amelita?’
‘Miriam,’ she corrected laughingly. ‘Amelita is upstairs with Coral.’
‘Who’s Coral?’
‘Armando’s wife.’
‘Who’s Armando?’
‘Julietta’s son.’
‘Who’s Julietta?’ She face palmed herself and gro-ned.
‘Oh my God! Julietta is your father’s mother’s younger sister. She’s married to Esteban and she has Armando, Amanda and Paprika. Do you get it now!’ I nodded and itched my head
‘Thanks Aunty Mary.’ I waved her bye.
‘It’s Miriam!!!!!’
‘Sorry!!!!!’ I shouted back. Now who’s Julietta again? God! They are too many. What happened to birth and adoption control. I walked around for over an hour before I found Amelita, everyone looked alike. ‘Aunty Amelita!’ I squealed and hugged her, she was taken aback because the last time we met, I thought she was my new maid.
‘Lyra, good to see you again. Still wearing your mask I see? It almost makes you look like Ruby Mask.’ I laughed nervously to her joke. If only she knew I was her.
‘Very funny. Erm Amelita, can I ask you something?’
‘Sure, anything.’
‘Why really did my dad call me back home? I know it’s not just because he misses me.’ She looked everywhere but my eyes.
‘I don’t know, he wouldn’t share but I think mother instructed….no, commanded him to reveal you to the press. Everybody only knows that there’s one true daughter of the Oceans that goes by Miss Ocean, they don’t even know your real name or what you look like….f-ck my life, I doubt you even know how you look like.’
‘But I’m not ready for the commitment of being an heiress, I don’t want to take over The Oceans legacy.’
‘Lyra, first of all, we’re not asking you to marry it. Second of all, you have got nothing doing with your life….’
‘What did you say?’ I asked with twitching eye.
‘I mean all your life, most of your life, you lived far away and was home schooled. You’re done with college, you’re not doing anything so why not start now?’ I stood akimbo and c*cked my h¡ps.
‘Young…old woman I will have you know that I have something doing in my life, more than you did with yours when you were my age ‘
‘And what will that be? Goofing around, living the perfect free girl life somewhere with no mask or veil, somewhere far where you’re free to f-ck around and not be questioned.’ She taunted. I forgot how much of a bitch she was, reason number one why I hate her. ‘I wonder what your parents were thinking letting you live alone far away from their watch. I blame your mother, she’s the stupid one.’ Steam puffed out of my nostrils, I clenched my fist in anger.
I don’t take any insult directed at my mother, brother or father!
I gritted my teeth as she continued blabbing. I exhaled and smirked.
‘Say my dearest Aunty Amelita, what do you call an adopted 45 years old woman who have never had a boyfriend, still a V-rgin, no husband or children and lives alone?’ I asked sweetly. That hurt her. ‘Haplessly single.’ I whispered. ‘You should get your husband to give you your own kids so you can tell them what to do….oui, you don’t have one!’ I laughed and walked out on her.
I’m rude, yeah, being a poprock star taught me that.
Be mean or get controlled.
My mind wandered off to what she said. I can’t be the next of kin, what about Lyle? I mean yes he was sick but that didn’t mean they has the right to push him aside. It wasn’t his fault he narrowly survived the plane crash that killed mom and have been in a coma for three third of his life, why do that?
Just hope it’s something else, it better be.
Again, why was everyone behaving suspiciously?

To be continued.
What do you think the real issue is?
Let’s find out.
