Green Eyed Devils
Episode 24
Lyra ran around scre-ming and jumping, where were we? At a zoo. After I unintentionally scared the life out of her, I forced her to dress up and took her to the zoo. She had never been to the zoo before which was really weird.
‘The koalas are so cute!’ She squealed, we visited the koalas and she hadn’t stopped talking about their cuteness.
‘How are koalas cute? They are ugly.’
‘Is not.’
‘Is too.’
‘Is not.’
‘Is too.’
‘Is not!’
‘Whatever you say stupid.’
‘You’re so an……fox!!!!!’ She ran to the cage and squealed. ‘Hi there foxes!’
‘Lyra calm down,’ I whispered when I got to her. ‘You’re dragging too much attention our way.’ I whispered dragging my face cap down.
‘So adorable,’ she said babyishly. She quickly took a selfie and giggled. ‘Can I keep one?’
‘Do you want to die?’ I interlocked our arms and pulled her away. ‘So how come you never went to a zoo? If I remember correctly, you used to blab to Xena about being a zoologist or marine biologist.’ I asked curiously.
‘Well, mom said it was a waste of my time, a stupid dream. She didn’t let me go to a zoo because she feared I would get more obsessed with it.’ She said sadly.
‘What exactly did you do with your childhood? Even though we were crazy filthy rich celebrities with mischievous attitude, mom and dad made sure we had a fun childhood. Even our teenhood was fantastic if you exclude the….er…secret parts.’
‘It’s complicated but I guess now you say it, she was more focused on one side of my life and nothing else. That side was the only thing that made her close to me.’
‘And what was that thing?’
‘How to groom me into becoming her,’ she stared at her feet with glistening eyes. ‘Dad didn’t want to upset her so he never said a word, I don’t even know how to ride a bike or even have any reasonable experience.’ She sobbed. We stopped walking, she tried to wiped her face but the tears kept coming out. ‘I never went to prom, never got asked to high school dances. I didn’t go on dates or had girlish sleepovers with my friends. I don’t even have any…..I had Xena but mom made me stay away from her so that doesn’t count. I’ve never had boys talk, don’t know how having your friends braid your hair feels like…..my life is ruined.’ I turned her around and placed her head on my chest so she could cry there.
It’s okay….’
‘No, its not. I don’t know how to ride a bike, I’ve never been to the movies with anyone and I haven’t been to an amusement park. That s-cks.’
‘As your boyfriend for the next few days and your future husband, it’s my duty to make you fall in love with me more by making you happy.’ She raised her head so I could see her disapproving frown. Her eyes were sparkling. ‘You have a very beautiful orbs, really beautiful.’ I smirked as she blushed.
‘Thank you, sorry I stained your shirt.’
‘I’ll get a new one later. Now, give me a list of all the places you haven’t been to. We’ll spend one more hour here and check out another, at least before the day ends, five will be covered.’
‘You’ll really do that for me?’ She asked cutely with a pout. I nodded, k-ssing her would ruin everything. ‘Don’t you have something to do? Songs to write? I read online that your guys are performing in Mama Hatter’s show.’
‘It can wait, right now you’re more important.’ Her face turned red, she put her head back on my chest and hit it.
‘I hate you.’ I chuckled she’s so in my net.
# LYRA
‘Are you sure about this movie Xeris? My body and mind can’t take much more dizziness and spook.’ He didn’t say a word, just kept flirting with the ticket girl who didn’t seem to know who was flirting with her.
After our zoo fun, Xeris took me to an ice cream shop where I drank all the ice cream I ever wanted. We also ate a lot of junk food alone at a quiet bridge, staring at the water and talking about ourselves, he’s super duper funny. Then we went to an amusement park, I threw up a lot because foolish me went for the terrifying rides.
Note to self, never go to an amusement park again.
Next we saw a Derby race where he was able to get me a horse to ride. I’d rode horses a lot since I had one back at my house so it was easy.
Finally we settled for the theatre where he insisted we watch an African movie called “The haunted duplex”. It wasn’t that scary as he said but I was already feeling frightened. Anyways, he wasn’t paying attention to me again since his eyes met the pretty brunette girl. I noticed he had a thing for black haired girls….maybe I should dye my……nay.
‘Hey,’ I tugged at his sleeve. ‘I’m still here.’
‘Oh, here,’ he gave me the tickets and his wallet. ‘Bye some popcorn and go save a seat for us.’
‘But…..’
‘I’ll be there soon.’ I felt so humiliated, especially with the way she was looking at me tauntingly. I sighed and turned, I went to another ticket boot and bought the one I knew not. I went in and sat at the back, I was trying hærd not to cry.
‘Hi, are you here alone?’ The guy at the roll of seats in front of me asked smilingly.
‘Yeah, I am.’
‘Wanna sit?’ I nodded with a smile. I walked over to his side and sat down lady likely. ‘My name’s Naël Gaines, I’m a engineer.’
‘You’re French,’ I said blushingly. French guys always made me act weird, I like them and their accent. ‘I’m Lyra.’
‘Nice to meet you mademoiselle. Do you live here?’
‘Not really, came to see my dad. You?’
‘Attend my sister’s wedding. Just wanted to explore a little.’
‘That’s nice, you don’t have any snacks for the movie? I don’t have any either.’
‘Then would you like banana ch¡ps?’
‘I prefer chocolate.’ He smiled and put his palms together, when he separated them, a big bag of ch¡ps stretched out. ‘You do magic!’
‘Yeah, my uncle is a magician and I grew up with him. It’s natural to pick up a few tricks.’
‘That’s amazing….the movie’s starting.’ He smiled and faced the screen. The movie was funny, very hilarious but it got uncomfortable at the er*t*c scenes. Soon almost all the couples present were smooching. I regretted not coming with Xeris.
‘Wow, this is uncomfortable,’ he said awkwardly. ‘Look away young lady.’ He covered my eyes with his hands. I laughed and removed it.
‘Do you have a girlfriend?’
‘Side chicks, dating is too much commitment.’ I rolled my eyes.
‘You’re just like my boyfriend.’
‘And yet he takes the title. He still dates but I never don’t, girls are complicated.’
‘Hmmm, he’s probably looking for me or giving the ticket girl a quickie.’
He laughed.
‘Guys are like that most times, assh-le. I can’t stand to cheat on a girl I love so it’s better I don’t date. Do you love him?’
‘I can say I like him and jealousy is burning me here.’
‘Let me see your palms.’
‘Why?’ I asked puzzledly.
‘My mother’s a seer, she have taught me a thing or two.’ I smiled and gave him my palms, he studied them quietly. ‘There’s danger ahead of you, one that might lead to your death or the death of the ones you love especially him. I see you in pains, death hovering around you with only a little chance of escapement. I also see a boy, he’s you and you’re him but he lies unconscious on a bed, his time to awake is near but it might not last for the hands that snatched your mother will snatch him if care is not taken,’ he paused and peered at my hands. ‘You’re surrounded by people that can protect you, to avoid this death I see, you must completely win the heart of the guy with a X on his back. He alone can protect you as you are to save him from himself and the one that looms in the shadow.’
My heart was beating too fast, my head sweating.
‘Who’s Xeris?’
‘My boyfriend.’ I stammered.
‘He loves you, don’t leave him.’ He stood up and dragged me out since I was dazed. ‘I’m sorry if I scared you.’
‘The warning, the boy, my brother will die?’
‘I saw a name, Imogene, who’s that?’
‘His betrothed.’
‘Send for her, let her be around him because she will be the one to save him. I don’t know how but that’s all I see.’ I nodded.
‘Lyra! There you are!’ Xeris’ voice came from my side. I turned my head over to him and scoffed. He was jogging to me.
‘Until our path cross if willed dear Lyra,’ he k-ssed my cheek and then the back of my palm he was holding. ‘Goodbye.’ He walked away just as Xeris got to me.
‘Who’s that d*ck?’ I was too scared to say a word, I turned and walked out of the theatre.
# XERIS
I knew I messed up, I shouldn’t have abandoned her like that but the girl I was flirting with was the girlfriend of someone I was looking for, I needed information. Lyra was quiet, she didn’t say a word to me which really hurt.
‘Lyra, I’m sorry.’ She said nothing like she had been doing. I sighed and pulled over at the gate of my old high school. I was going to find that stupid guy that was with her if she dared communicate with him.
‘This isn’t my house.’ She said coldly.
‘Lyra please, just try and listen…..’
‘Xeris take me back home,’ she commanded. ‘I’m tired.’ I whimpered and got out of the car, I had to make her happy again before dropping her off. I walked over to her side, opened the door and dragged her out. ‘Xeris let go!!!’
‘Just calm down and follow me….’
‘So you can humiliate me again, no, I don’t want that.’ She sobbed, oh great.
‘I’m sorry okay. I was getting information from her. Her boyfriend stabbed my cousin Phil, that’s why you haven’t seen him for a while, he’s hospitalized.’ I confessed.
‘Are you lying to me?’
‘I swear, I’m not lying to you. I can’t leave you for any scrawny girl, she’s not even as beautiful as your shoes.’ I admitted, wiping her tears away with my thumbs. She blushed and hugged me.
‘Don’t ever do that again, okay?’
‘Promise,’ I chuckled. ‘I’ve won your heart already, huh milady?’
‘No, I just hate the movie I saw.’
‘Who was that guy?’
‘A French dude that told me I might die soon because someone might be after my life.’ My heart skipped, I gulped and shook it off.
‘Let’s go.’
‘Where are we?’
‘X-High, my old school.’
‘Why?’ She asked as I led her to the secret back entrance.
‘You’ll see.’ I led her into the school successfully and took her to the basketball court. I switched the lights on and watched her wowed. She let go of my hand and ran around laughingly.
‘The first time I stepped my feet in a basketball court, I was shooting a video of m…..can you play?’
‘My niche in highschool,’ I said pompously. ‘One of my many skills.’ I said walking around with backwards step.
‘Can you teach me? I only know how to play tennis, cycling and fencing since dad’s a pro in those areas…ooh! I’m a pro at ice skating and surfing.’ She picked up a ball.
‘What sport do you want to learn?’ I asked calmly walking over to her.
‘Basketball and archery.’
‘Archery’s not a sport,’ I said chucklingly, turning her back to me and holding her wa-ist. ‘Ready to learn?’ She nodded. ‘Lift your hands like this….’ I guided her on how to, stylishly feeling her skin and turning myself on.
I taught her for over two hours, she was a very fast learner or a desperate one. She got tired, a grin never leaving her face.
‘Let’s go now, I’m tired.’ She gasped. I was dying, I turned myself on.
‘Let’s stay for a minute,’ I whispered huskily gliding my hands down her h¡ps roughly. She shifted uncomfortably and chuckled nervously. I pressed my nose on her hair and sniffed it. ‘You’re very talented.’
‘Thank you, Xeris you’re making me uncomfortable. Stop touching me.’
‘I won’t bite you, I’ll go easy.’ I wasn’t thinking anymore.
‘Xeris stop this,’ she tried to pull away from my grip but I pressed her body closer to mine. ‘Xeris you’re scaring me, stop this.’ She cried, I didn’t listen, I tilted her head to a side and attached her neck with k-sses and bites. She mo-ned, losing her balance at the moment. ‘Xeris, please stop this.’
I was going to k-ss her when the stupid enemy of fun interrupted.
‘Who’s there?!!!’
‘F-ck!’ I quickly pulled her to the back of the door, switched off the lights and hid there. Three security officers walked in.
‘Who’s in here?!!!!’ Mom would definitely murder me if I was caught with Lyra, she knew me too well. I tiptoed out with her. ‘There they are!!!!’
‘Run!!!’ We sprinted, me holding her hand so she could keep up. The men chased up pointing their guns but they knew they couldn’t just shoot. I beeped the roof of my car open we jumped in and I drove off fast.
‘That was awesome!!!!’ I laughed at her words and stepped on the gas, automatically turning it to a race. ‘We’ll get arrested.’
‘Not quite,’ I pressed the black button close to the ignition. The car plate shifted to a plain one and the golden colour of the car turned twilight fog.
‘You’re amazing!’ She laughed, soon I heard sirens behind us. I closed the roof immediately.
‘Hold on, seatbelt on,’ she buckled her seatbelt with anticipations. ‘You might want to close your eyes.’ I said switching the controls to the mega car Tan bought from red bullet. I turned the rocket booster on.
“Rocket booster activated.”
The car rocketed away while she scre-med joyfully.
F-ck those men that ruined my plans but there’s always another day.
