Chapter 31
Lyra
I smoothened the dress Xeris dropped on my bed, it was awfully exposing. I knew Xeris loved girls who showed off their skin but I never expected him to actually let me wear it. I stood in front of the mirror staring at my reflection and smoothening the dress over and over again. The dress had horizontal puffy folds falling off my shoulders and from my wa-istline to above my mid th-gh where the dress ends. My chest was really out, covered but too open for my liking. The chest area was sleek, the dress was gold. I was used to wearing heels but the black heels were too high and thin. The only problem left to solve was my hair, it was too long and I was really contemplating cutting it. Even Lyle advised me to cut it a little so it would be easy for me to move around. He knocked.
‘Are you done yet? We’re getting late.’
‘My hair, I’m having problems with my hair.’
‘Are you unclad?’
‘Should I be?’ The words purred out, I cupped my mouth and whimpered. He walked in with a smirk.
‘Did I hear someone purring to sed-ce me?’ He asked with his smirk still on. I blushed and looked at myself in the mirror again. ‘Somebody looks hot.’
‘Isn’t this too short? The back is practically not even suppose to be called one.’ I whined. The dress had no back, it was backless down to the wa-ist.
‘It’s fine.’
‘Look at my b-obs, everyone can see it.’
‘Let them see, but they can never touch because it’s mine. They need to know and see how s€×y my girl is.’ He said proudly like he actually owned me. I rolled my eyes and dragged the short gown down.
‘The length is too short….’
‘You’re Ruby Mask, you wear short things all the time…..’
‘But not when I’m Lyra Oceans, it’s too indecent for what I stand for as Lyra, especially with this much b-obs out already. I look like a slut…..’
‘Because you dress s€×y doesn’t make you a slut babe, this dress didn’t have a “for slut only” tag on it when it was created. Stop over thinking it, you look great and that’s what really matters.’ I sighed and nodded with a smile.
‘Now can you help me fix my hair?’ I asked poutingly.
‘How would you like a bun?’ He joked. I chuckled and covered my mouth.

I looked out of the window confusedly, Xeris took me to school, they was a party going on.
‘I didn’t know a party was up tonight….’
‘When last have you been in school? When last have any of us being in school? Beside, it’s my party.’
‘Why did you throw a party?’
‘Why shouldn’t I?’ He asked smirkingly. I chuckled and opened the door. ‘Don’t, I’m suppose to open the door for you as your date.’
‘I’m pretty much sure I can handle it.’
‘I’m still going to open it for you, don’t move.’ I got out of the car and breathe in the fresh air.
‘Don’t you just love the smell of alcohol?’ I asked sarcastically. He scoffed.
‘I told you to wait.’
‘It’s funny, I expected it to be crowded with the press.’ I said as a matter-of-fact.
‘The press can’t invade what they don’t know. I made it a secret party, for few brain wise people.’
‘Are Violet and her bitches going to be here too?:
‘Literally, your cousin is one of them and not a complete bitch,’ he got to where I stood and interlocked our arms. ‘And no, they aren’t invited to my babe’s party.’ We walked to the building.
‘Xena and Hilda?’
‘In, do you think I can throw a party without Xeron? Once Xeron knows, many know so I doubt if the place will be filled with few people.’
‘Nay, I don’t think Xeron will invite too many people.’
‘Have you met the guy? He’s unpredictable when it comes to parties, he’s a freak.’ Truth as he said, the main hall was heaving with people, scre-ming and going wild. ‘That goat, I told him it’s a prom like party.’ Xeris grumbled.
‘Prom like?’
‘I wanted to make you relive a prom or rather have the experience but he just ruined everything.’ He sighed disappointedly. He really wanted to make me happy, I bit my lower lip and giggled.
‘Look on the bright side, you’re not wearing a suit….’
‘I hate suits.’
‘And I’ve never been to a school party or party thrown by a college friend so let’s say, my boyfriend threw a magnificent party….’
‘Xeron threw it.’
‘My boyfriend’s brother threw a magnificent party and I got invited. Easy huh? I get to experience something cool after all.’
‘Then, let’s party!!!!’ I scre-med a little as he pulled me along into the party. He shook many hands, the usual guy thing before we located Xeron. They sat at a table, laughing to something one of them must have said. Tan, Xena, Xerra, a guy she was hugging and Wells were present. ‘Hey idiot!’ Xeris smacked Xeron’s head.
‘Ow! What did I do?!’ We glared at him. He grinned innocently. ‘Oh, that. I’m sorry, didn’t know how this happened. Betty you should have controlled me.’
‘Don’t even think about it fish head.’ She hissed and punched his arm.
‘Sorry I ruined it, can’t you see how awesome it looks now!’ Xeron chirped. Xeris sighed.
‘Do you want to dance?’ He shouted into my ear.
‘This heels are killing me.’
‘Then take it off.’
‘You look gorgeous Lyra!!!’ Xeron shouted. ‘Xeris let’s switch babes!!!’ Hilda punched him again. ‘Do you want to break my bone!!!!’
‘Yes!!!! assh-le!!! I’m going to flirt with any maniac if you dare me this evening!!!’ She shouted, stood up and stomped away.
‘See why I didn’t want to date?!!!! Relationsh¡ps are filled with complications!!!!’ I was done taking of my shoes, I looked up at Xeris and frowned. Didn’t know I was that short. I wore it back and sized our height.
‘I’m almost as tall as you are!!!’ I shouted happily. They laughed. ‘What?’
‘I better find her,’ Xeron chuckled and went to look for Hilda. Xerra stood up and offered me a smile before she disappeared with her boyfriend. Xena and Tan were “busy” and Wells, he was picking his nose. Creep.
‘Lyra, take this.’ Xeris handled me a glass filled with Marsala.
‘What for?’
‘A party is never complete without drinks.’
‘I don’t want to drink, have you forgotten what happened the last time?’
‘Don’t worry, I won’t let you get drunk.’
And that was how I got miserably drunk.

I flipped through the hot photos I uploaded on Instagram, fans were going crazy over it. I smiled, no one can be more prettier than I am, I’m perfect. A message from my Australian friend popped in.
‘Babe, I thought you told me Xeris Xander was your boo.’ She sent me with a frowning emoji.
‘Of course he is,’ I replied smugly. ‘Who else is more perfect for him?’
‘Never knew you were such a liar. Look at the pictures he uploaded on Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter, even the videos. The girl I saw there is a hundred times more worthy of the embodiment “s€×y goddess.” You’re a loser Violet, a lying bitch. It’s a good thing he’s not with a puss like you.’ I gasped at her insult. I quickly went to Xeris’ Instagram page and saw his new uploads.
Crazy party pictures of him, his siblings and that bitch. She looked so beautiful, more than me and she was rocking the party. Even the videos showed that. She was dancing to Cardi B’s like it like that. She really danced so well and then she twerked to one of Xena’s rap song. They all loved her while they hated me.

‘Daddy, dad!’ I wailed. He was on the phone.
‘I’ll call you back John,’ he hung up on the person. I threw myself on the floor and cried bitterly. ‘Baby, what happened?’
‘It’s Xeris, he’s dating someone else now.’
‘That prick! Him and his father are both getting on my nerves! It’s time I take care of those bastards myself!!!’
‘You know,’ a voice made us scre-m. ‘It’s good to not play with fire.’ I gasped when I saw Mixzi, his mom.
‘Mixzi? How did you get into my house?’
‘Magic.’ She giggled and clapped her hands.
‘What do you want?’
‘You’re bothering my husband,’ she said in a singsong. ‘I don’t like that.’ She walked closer to us drawing the hilt of a dagger on the wall.
‘Ahem,’ dad cleared his throat. ‘Your husband is troubling me.’ Was he scared? I was.
‘Well,’ she squealed stopping right in front of me. She squatted and smiled. ‘It’s really not good to throw yourself on a man girl, have you noticed how many people hate you because of this?’ I shook my head in fright. ‘I’m advising you as a mother since yours can’t because she don’t have the brain to. Carry yourself with high esteem and people will worsh¡p you but just delete the peculiar pompousness.’
‘Yes ma’am.’ I sobbed, she was right.
‘Now, to you Palomar…’ She looked at dad with a menacing smile. ‘Stay clear off my path and everything related to me or you’ll find the devil you’re looking for,’ she averted her eyes to me and raised my chin with the peek of the dagger. ‘I’ll hate for anything to happen to your precious diamond.’
‘Is that a threat?’ Dad asked in fear though he was trying to hide it.
‘Threat?!’ She laughed psychopathically. ‘I don’t threaten love, that’s not a threat,’ she frowned deeply, her voice sounding like a demon’s. ‘It’s a promise.’ She stood up and played with the dagger. ‘How would your wife feel if she finds out her baby died and was switched for her husband’s mistress’s? Not good, huh?’ Dad started shivering. ‘Awwwn, did I scare you? Don’t be scared. It’s not like I have evidence on how Mary Katherine was killed and who did it. I’m sure your wife won’t feel bad that somebody have been raising her sister’s daughter as her own.’ She said with a sly smirk.
‘Dad, what’s she talking about?’
‘Once upon a time you went to sleep and didn’t remember what happened hours earlier.’ She said sweetly. The s₱0t she poked with the knife was burning like my brain, I’d been bearing it. She sprayed something on my face and I coughed.
‘Mixzi, please don’t hurt her.’
‘I’m not heartless Palomar, I’m a mom too. Cheating on your wife with her older sister, impregnating her and switching their babies is cruel. You even killed Mary, I’m sure your wife won’t be glad but I won’t tell her. Violet will forget but I won’t sing kumbaya with you the next time I come here. Don’t dare me boy, I won’t warn you again.’ With that said, I saw her flickering figure disappear before I passed out.
