Mr. James, on stepping into the house did not waste time in stating the reasons for his visit. He made it clear to both Manny and the mom that he was interested in marrying Ella.
“My daughter just gained admission into school and I promised her she’ll finish school before thinking of marriage,” Mom said, staring at him intently and wondering what sort of temptation was this.
“I’m prepared to wait for as long as,” Mr. James said confidently. “I love her, truly.”
Mom smiled and nodded, then leaned on the couch and asked angry Manny to go get the visitor something to eat…

Meanwhile, still at Upland University, Students still gathered in front of the VC’s office and Dave as well had stopped bleeding immediately he set eyes on the dead student.
Still outside the VC’s office, the arguments yielded no positive result and the police who were invited came. After every explanation, they shook their head negatively.
“We can’t possibly arrest him,” one of them said.
“But why?” an angry VC shouted.
“Please sir, calm down,” the police continued and she happened to be a lady. “There’s no concrete prove that Dave here murdered these students. The only problem here is that he indirectly or directly has a connection with someone who is trying to destroy Upland University and to think that he risked his life once to save the school… no, there’s more to this.”
Everyone present read the sense in what the policewoman said and each found a near wall to lean or a s₱0t to either squat or stand because the heat of the sun was becoming unbearable. From where Dave stood on the pavement of the VC’s office, he glanced around and his eyes caught with that of Ella who smiled, assuring him with her eyes that everything will be fine.
Another of the police who was a man suggested that the wristwatch be broken to see the outcome. Just as the wristwatch was kept on the floor and a stone was brought by a student, it blinked red again and Dave began to bleed while a male student fell down with blood oozing from his headless body.
Immediately students around the one murdered ran to a distance in fear while the stone was used to smash the wristwatch. Dagger who then knew that the person who took his wristwatch is Chief’s son, turned and made to walk away with the blood stained doubled edged sword he held without knowledge of the fact that his god had left him and his game was up. As soon as the surface of the silver wristwatch was smashed to pieces, Dagger became visible and students on sighting him hurled attacks at him as Dave stopped bleeding. While some threw stones, some made use of sand and any available weapon.
The wh0le crowed jeered with excitement as Dagger was beaten mercilessly before the police intervened and handcuffed him, then led him to the police van.
While the policewoman told the shocked VC that he’ll be needed at the station to make a statement, Dagger shot him and chief deadly stares before climbing into the van.
Not minding the many eyes that watched, Ella ran up the pavement and threw herself on Dave in a hug while Dave heaved a sigh of relief as he reciprocated the hug to the amazement of Nath cos all who watched knew the hug wasn’t just a friendly hug but that which came with a strong feeling of love.
The police having left with the VC and the investigators and the dead body carried away, the students began to disperse, each with a story on his/her l-ips.
Dave rejected his parents plea of going home with them and joined Nath and Ella who waited for him at a distance. Joy had left angrily.
“I can’t believe you hid such a thing from me?” Nath said as they walked towards the male lodge. Dave didn’t say a word but rather, concentrated on his thoughts. “Anyways,” Nath continued. “What’s going on between you two?” he asked, glancing at Ella.
“Nothing important,” Dave replied to the amazement of Ella who looked at him with teary eyes before running off.
Nath stopped and stared at Dave suspiciously but he acted like he didn’t care and walked away…

Days turned into weeks and Upland University became free once again from evil and death. News of what happened over the weekend spread all through the school and everyone became more careful as they went about their daily activities.
Lecturers resumed lectures but the Ella distanced herself from him, Nath and Joy while becoming closer to Peace, though a bit reserved.
It was 3pm and students of the Department of English and literary studies had just rounded off their lectures for the day. Ella and Peace could be seen coming out of the lecture hall while Dave who waited under a tree quickly rushed to meet them.
“Can we talk?” he pleaded with his gaze fixed on Ella.
“No!” was Ella’s sharp reply as she made to walk away but Dave held her hand, thus stopping her.
“Please, don’t walk away from me,” he adjusted his glasses. “I’ve missed you, us and I’m ready to let the wh0le world know we’re into something serious.”
Peace on hearing that hugged Ella goodbye and excused herself while Ella quietly allowed Dave lead her to a quiet and cool sit out close to the school library. After sitting, Dave took her hands in his and stared directly into her eyes.
She looked down, unable to maintain eye contact with him. Students could be seen walking around in groups of twos and threes while some could be seen coming out and going in of the library with their books clutched to their chest or just resting in their hands.
“You’ve never asked me out, so don’t think we’re in a relationsh¡p,” Ella said without looking up.
“That’s why I’m asking you here and now to be my girlfriend. Let it be us against the world,” Dave said calmly.
Just as Ella looked up, she sighted Mr. James come out of the library. Manny had told her of his plans just that morning while her mom had asked that she should keep being respectful to him.
Mr. James, on sighting Ella with Dave quickly beckoned on Dave who released Ella’s hand and went to him. He put his hand on Dave’s shoulder in a way a father who’s about advising his son would. “I understand you’re a chemistry student, a smart and handsome one at that.”
Dave smiled and adjusted his glasses. “Thank you sir.”
“Good!” Mr. James patted him. “That girl you’re talking to is mine and I’m sure you know the aftermath of struggling a female student with a male lecturer?”
Dave stared, pretending not to know what he was talking about but just as he was about saying something, Mr. James patted his back and let out an evil smile. “Ella, shouldn’t you be reading or running errands for your mom,” he said out loud to Ella who was watching them before walking away while the students around stared.
Dave stood for a while and watched his back as he walked while Ella came to meet him. “Let’s go to my lodge,” he grasped her hand and led her away…

Night approached faster than expected and it met Dagger in a lonely cell at the police station. As he sat, he pondered on his life and regretted ever letting himself get caught. It’s been two weeks since he was arrested. His eyes were swollen and blood patches wasn’t hidden on his skin.
Suddenly, breeze from nowhere blew and Okasi appeared before him. “The silver wristwatch and the love for you brought me here. It was a special wristwatch that’s not meant to be destroyed or touched by another and now, that it has been tampered with, more deaths lurk.”
“I greet you great one,” Dagger said as he changed position to kneeling. He had been expecting him and his heart kept with joy on seeing him. “I’ve been arrested due to my carelessness. How will I complete my mission nor deal with the wristwatch destroyers?”
Okasi smiled and laid his staff on Dagger’s head. In spilt of seconds, they both disappeared without trace…

The next day, news traveled fast that Dagger had escaped from the cell and once again, this time not only Upland University but the wh0le state was thrown into confusion and panic because Dagger’s disappearance spelt doom and more death…
