Ella suddenly became quiet, staring at Joy. She wondered the kind of girl she had involved herself with. She seemed too exposed and all knowing.
 
“Why are you suddenly quiet and staring at me like that?” Joy asked.
 
“You know Dave’s father?” Ella replied with a question
 
“Of cos. He’s my sugar daddy.”
 
A shock expression knotted her eyebrow. “So, what do you want with his son?”
 
“Is it bad to f-ck both father and son?”
 
Ella stared mouth agape. So, people like Joy still existed. Wonders!…

Dave got home to meet his father and the house workers in disarray. In his usual quiet and steady nature, he adjusted his glasses and led his father out of the sitting room to the garden while Nath followed calmly. When he’d made him sit on the bench, he adjusted his glasses again and waited for an explanation.
 
“You need to save your mother and school, Dave,” Chief began. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know it will turn out this way. Money is indeed the root of all evil… I met Dagger a year ago and if you remember, we had nothing that time. He promised to help me and he did by making me rich. I don’t know the source of his wealth and never asked. Last month, he met me again and told me I was gonna help him get 50 students from Upland University then make it look like a kidnap but just when we were working on it, news came to me that he has changed the plan and intends destroying the wh0le school. I’m now scared and I don’t want to continue with this deal. Please help me save your mother and school as well,” he concluded
 
Dave sat silent for few seconds while Nath sat in awe, using his elbow to support his chin. “What does saving mom and my school imply now?”
 
“It implies that Dagger and his accomplice will loose their lives. He changed the plan without considering me first.”
 
“But sir, where are we gonna get help from?” Nath asked.
 
“Don’t worry. I’ll contact a police friend but you need to be there as well cos with the look of things, we can’t trust anyone and if we rely on just the police, they might worsen the situation.”
 
Dave stared into the space for a while before getting up. He gestured at Nath who stood up as well. “I’m sorry, son!” The guys heard chief say but walked out without turning back, each in deep thought…
 
“Do you think we can do it?” Nath asked as they headed out of the compound.
 
“What?” Dave focused on the road with his hands in his pocket.
 
“Save our school and your mother.”
 
Dave felt anger boil up in him. He tightened his fist in,side his trouser pocket. “I ain’t doing no shit!” With that, he quickened his steps.
 
Nath stopped and stared after him. He knew Dave to be a difficult being jut was he gonna let everything slide like he knew nothing? No! He wasn’t gonna allow that…

They boarded a taxi to school and just when they arrived the gate, the sighted Ella walking out with her arms folded. Nath quickly alighted and called out to her.
 
She smiled and moved closer to them. She had known them for just two days yet it seemed like they’d known each other forever. “Good evening!”
 
Nath replied but David just nodded and walked past with a sore expression on his face and that made Ella feel very bad. Nath quickly apologized and told her he’s in a bad mood.
 
Ella was curious, so she asked further questions which made him pull her to an area where he explained everything.
 
“I can come along if you don’t mind,” she offered.
 
“Wow! That would be great,” Nath said in excitement, then they began to stare at each other. The evening breeze felt cool as it dried tiny sweats from their bodies. The distance between them was like that of a nose and eye.
 
Nath use his right hand to pick out something from her hair. “I know this might sound a bit odd cos it’s coming too early but I really do love you.”
 
Ella swallowed hærd and let her eyes search his. She felt his head coming closer to hers as their breath was beginning to fan their nostrils but just when their l-ips almost brushed, she removed her right hand and stopped him.
 
“Good night, Nath. I’ll see you tomorrow.” With that, she walked away while he stood for a while and watched her before walking in,side the school premises…

Ella got home, thinking deeply. She had promised herself not to have any boyfriend till she finished University but here she was, falling for the friend of one who’s just professed love to her.
 
Manny wasn’t home yet and mom lay on the couch, feeding her eyes with pictures displayed on the TV screen. She greeted her calmly and without a chit chat, went straight to the kitchen to get her food.
 
That night, she couldn’t sleep. Different thoughts occupied her mind thus making her restless…

It was few minutes past 10pm and Nath who just finished taking his bath entered the room to find Dave in an awkward position. He sat on the floor with his arms folded and back resting against the wall.
 
“Ah! Ah!” He said as he dropped the bucket behind the door, then started cleaning his head with the edge of the towel. “I thought you were fast asleep?”
 
“I’ll go. I’m determined to fight Dagger or whosoever. I don’t want to my years of struggle here to be in vain and my mom too, I can’t let her die,” Dave said everything at once
 
“Wow!” Nath jumped on the bed nor minding the w-t towel around his wa-ist. He hugged Dave so tight. “I’m right behind you man, right behind you.”
 
Dave let out a painful smile and bent in a way that his forehead rested in his palm while Nath released him and patted his back gently.
 
“I only pray the police should corporate with us and not try to act funny.”

That night, the message Okasi sent to him through Cobra coupled with the information reaching him from his spy that chief was no longee interested in the plan and was prepared to fight so as to save his wife and Upland University, made Dagger restless. He even paid less attention to the chief’s wife whom he had masterminded her kidnap as he paced round the room, thinking of a possible solution.
 
He had numerous workers and boys at his disposal but he knew they were not as strong as he was. He thought deeply and decided to flee the den to somewhere safe where he could hide, then come back later when no one would expect him.
 
As the night approached deeper and the boys with him in the den were snoring away, Dagger picked up his two edged sword with two guns and fled, leaving the boys to the mercy of whosoever chief would send to kill him…
