CHAPTER 37✏️

❤Kayla’s POV❤️

Tears continually poured from my eyes as I repeatedly called out to Melvin, hoping he’d just open his eyes and look at me.
But he didn’t, he still looked as lifeless as he did few seconds ago.
The sky suddenly darkened and as it lighted up again, I felt a light tug at my palm..
I glanced at Melvin and realised that our palms were still intertwined and then the tug came again, too light and almost unreal, I quickly sat up.
“Melvin?” I called, shaking him or expecting him to make another movement but he didn’t, I shook him again, calling out his name but he didn’t stir nor make any sound..
It began to rain unannounced, even with the sky so bright, you’d think it was sunny.. I looked down at Melvin and back at the sky and immediately, I stood up, grabbed the Luvi and the key, and began running out of the woods..
The rain began to pour down more h-rder, caring less; I fastened my steps..
I was out of the woods in no time and I continued running, the Luvi dangling at my fist as I clinged tightly at it..
I ran as fast as my legs could go, the slippery ground didn’t stop me or lagged my steps. It strangely seemed like I was the only one in the streets..
I didn’t find a single person, it was almost like I was the only existing human around here but I didn’t let that change my steps negatively, nor my w-t and heavy clothes..
I let my mind only wander on what I needed to do..
There still have to be time, right?
As I ran, the rain got heavier, making my heavy for myself on the process but I used what I would say was the last of my dexterity, of all the strength I could muster up.. only moving my palm to adjust my glasses properly.
I made my way to a corner and swerved past it, not lagging in my steps.
I was at Melvin’s gate in a few minutes, my body drenched in the rain and water pouringfrom my hair down to my feet..
I was completely soaked.
I walked to the gate and opened it, it gave way immediately and I head in.. I was at the living room door in no time.. I opened the door without any difficulty and went it..
The Living room was empty, the water ran down me to the tiled and carpeted floor..
I walked from the living room to the brief passageway.
I arrived at the room and ins**ted the key into the keyh0le, tilting it and twisting the knob at the same time but it didn’t give way..
Alarmed, I tried again, tilting it to a different side and the door moved..
I left the key and opened the door, stepping fully into the room. I walked to the wardrobe where Melvin had said the Luvi holder would be, I opened it and found lots of clothes, bedsheets and duvet neatly folded up in it..
Quickly, I scattered them onto the floor and there; right infront of me was the coded safe..
I tried pushing it open violently but it was fruitless..
“Eugh!” A loud grown passed through my l-ips as I tried again but it yielded nothing fruitful.
I stopped, running a quick exasperated palm down my water dripping hair, I bit my lower l-ips and thought hærd.
I stared at the safe and in one quick movement, kicked it hærd with my shoes but the pain only transferred to me as it led to my feet hurting..
I sighed out in frustration and paced around the room..
“Just open already, Goddammit!” I yelled, tears pouring from my eyes..
“Please! Open, please!” I begged, as if it could hear my plea and give way for me to return the Luvi.
I heard a car roughly drive into the building and my fears aggravated, a bile rose to my throat and I gulped it down, running a palm down my hair and thinking deeply.
I took the Luvi and neared it to the safe and in a swift moment, the small door flung open, revealing the holder sitting attractively in it’s confinement..
A smile quickly crept to my l-ips and I gently took the Luvi holder out of the safe, I slipped the Luvi onto it until it fits it the right places.
I let go off the Luvi and stared at it, waiting to see if there was any effect from what I did..
Suddenly a bright light shone, it was bright, too bright and almost blinding..
I shut my eyes and stretch my arm forward, trying to curb the light and look at whatever it was trying to show me but the more I tried to look, the more the light got into my eyes, even my glasses couldn’t contend with it..
I began seeing things..
First, I saw Tracy, dressed in a party dress and in all smiles.
Then my dad, angrily coming out from a room.
Melvin’s mom showed up after it, smiling wonderful in a pretty jumpsuit.
Then a girl whom I think should be Melvin’s sister doing yoga.
My mom came next before an older man showed up next..
It was practically faces of Melvin’s family and mine..
The next was Melvin, looking his normal youthful age with a huge and bright smile across his l-ips and as he slowly faded; I came into the picture, dressed in a fashionable outfit, with long hair and without my glasses; walking down a hallway and just as I start to fade, I heard the door to the room fling open.
“No!” A familiar voice cried from the room.
And that was it before I blacked out.
