The President’s wife episode 21 – finale

THE PRESIDENT’S WIFE 1

FINAL CHAPTER

Zara agreed to attend Ileya ceremony at the family house. Lere realised he was gradually winning the battle. His mother stopped speaking with him, his father used every opportunity to let him know he had disappointed him.

She arrived the house that morning dressed in an ankara trouser and top. She looked radiate. She wore a light make up but her eyes shone from the eyeliner and mascara she wore. She tied a scarf on her head covering her hair. Lere couldn’t take his eyes off her. She had dressed the children also in Ankara dresses for the girls and kaftan for the boy.

She transferred two big coolers into his SUV from hers. The children sat between them while the nanny sat in front with the driver. Lere was beaming. His excitement was contagious. He didn’t want that moment to end. His family was complete.

When they arrived Alhaji’s house, immediately Zara came down from the vehicle, their were shouts of jpy. Her mother-in-law ran from upstairs on bare feet to hug her daughter-in-law. Tears dropped from Iya Lere’s eyes as she ran Zara. She kept shouting, “My daughter is back! My daughter is back!” as she hugged Zara excitedly.

They went upstairs to see Alhaji. Zara went on her knees to greet him but her father-in-law stood her up and pulled her in an embrace. All her doubt about the marriage ended. There is nowhere she can get this amount of love from her in-laws.

She presented her gifts, she cooked different types of soups packaged in smaller bowls for Alhaji and his wives. Alhaji made her sit down beside him, he asked for semovita to be made for him to eat the delicious soup she brought. He ate it in her presence.

When they were leaving, Alhaji gave her a nylon bag of both ram and cow meat. He asked her to kneel for him to pray for her. He told Lere in her presence, “She is my daughter. If you like mess up this time, I will always side with her. A woman that came into your life and your life changed for good should be a woman a sensible man will hold dear to him. We cannot deny the influence she has had on you. If you lose her again, I won’t beg on your behalf but she will continue to be my daughter.” then he turned to Zara, “my child, if you divorce Lere please don’t divorce the rest of us. We love you. Can you see how excited everyone was when you came? That is the amount of love we have for you. We want you to remain family whether Lere wants it or not. God bless you my child.”

Lere wanted to visit Zara were she lived but Zara refused. She wanted her privacy. She knew Lere would come uninvited.

“When are we getting back together?” Lere asked.

“When your people come to my people to ask for me to come back.”

“But I didn’t ask you to leave.”

“Are you sure about that? Your actions did.”

“So, we have to beg for your hand again.”

“Exactly.”

“I miss you so much. Can I get a k!$s? Don’t look at me like that, my body misses yours. Babe, I have done all the tests you requested for and I have proved to you I am clean. I wasn’t with anyone without protection. You are the only one I have done skin to skin with. I’m not asking for too much, a k!$s is all I want.”

“Lere, would you imagine being with another person when we are intimate?” Zara asked.

“I have never imagined being with anyone when we make love. Why would I do that?”

“Because I saw the girl you were with …”

“Zara, that girl was just a lay for fun. I have never been in a relationsh¡p with anyone. It is just one off. The reason I lied is because she billed me and I felt I could take advantage. Since that day, I haven’t had s-×. I swear on my mother’s life. Recently, I get turned on when I see you and I help myself. I am turned on as we speak now. Just a k!$s will make my day.”

“Is this what you say to them and they do as you say?”

“Zara, babe, come off this now. I made a mistake and I have apologised. I want to k!$s you and make love to you, only you. If you ever catch me cheating, don’t listen to my pleas.”

“Until your parents come to do the needful, I won’t come back.”

The following weekend, Lere’s family was in Zara’s family house to apologise and take her back home. Zara couldn’t believe how quickly it was set up. She was happy they did what she requested. Her parents felt honoured. Even her mother told her, “No man agrees to bring his family to beg on his behalf. Infidelity is common with men. Lere loves you, his family adores you, you are the luckiest of all my children.”

Lere left the children with their grandparents and immediately asked Zara to pack a bag to travel with. They flew that evening to Abuja. Lere lodged her in the most prestigious hotel for the weekend. Zara was excited. They had dinner at the restaurant and then retired for the night.

Adanna had helped her pack the bag. She gave her beautiful lingeries which Zara found interesting. She reminded Zara of their discussion and told her, “Don’t forget to take the lead and be in control. Your pleasure is as important as his. Teach him to please you and don’t be ashamed to express pleasures.”

Zara did just that. Lere couldnt believe what was happening. They were at it all night into the next morning. Her expression of her pleasures drove him crazy. She rode him as a horse and ordered him on how to give her pleasure. She was in charge and he loved it.

She moved back in with Lere during the week. By the next weekend, she observed Lere was a bit withdrawn. She made up her mind to ignore him which she did successfully. That weekend, Lere told Zara something had been bothering him since they reconciled.

“What’s the problem?”

“Don’t get upset. Can I ask a personal question?”

“Lere, shoot!”

“Zara, did you have any lovers when we separated?”

Zara laughed and looked at him. She then asked him, “What do you think?”

“I’m asking you. I swore to you on my mother’s life I didn’t touch another woman. I’m asking if you had a lover while we were apart. We were apart so I won’t hold it against you.”

“If you won’t hold it against me, why are you asking me?”

“Because things have changed about you. You are more daring and demanding. Don’t get me wrong, I love it. But, I need to know if you got the experience from another relationsh¡p.”

“Lere, I wouldn’t ask you what you did while we were separated and I will never hold it against you. I want you to do the same. Let’s respect boundaries. If our s-× life is a concern to you, then I can step it down and we can continue in our mundane ways. But for me to answer your question will be an insult to me.”

“Why is it always difficult for you to answer a question directly. If you don’t want to answer just say so and let my thoughts do the rest. A simple question and I am hearing about boundaries and so on.”

“Lere, how many lovers did you have while we were married? You claimed to travel twice a week but I found out you didn’t travel, you were resuming work on those days; I have the evidence. Was it just one girl or several girls? When you tell me truth I will answer your question.”

Lere was quiet. He looked at his wife and realised she had gotten smarter and more hærdened. She didn’t act as though she was excited about the reconciliation. The s-× was crazy and he wouldn’t trade it for anything. But, as a man, it nudged his heart thinking another man had tasted from his well. His imagination went wild. He forced himself not to imagine her doing things she did to him when they travelled to another man; he could kill someone or even himself because of this.

Lere talked to Adanna about Zara’s attitude and she told him, “Don’t mess this up. She has forgiven you and she is back. If you know Zara you would know she will never cheat on you. She is a Catholic girl who takes her vows seriously. Love her the way you loved her at the beginning and let her grow to trust you again. You guys can make this thing work perfectly. Learn to trust Zara.”

Lere decided to make it work. He stopped worrying about Zara and if she was cheating or not.

THE SEQUEL – THE PRESIDENT’S WIFE (2)

TEN YEARS LATER…

Zara was moved to head the Private Banking arm of the bank. It was a new department which tendered to only high networth individuals. Zara was made an AGM (Assistant General Manager) and assigned to that unit. She had five branches specially fitted for high networth individuals. She was a high flyer and was doing very well.

Lere had grown in the Telecoomunications company. He moved to a another telecommunication company taking up a management position. His role placed four departments under his control.

The children were doing very well. Three of them were in secondary school. They were in a private boarding school. It was not a cheap school which was Zara’s choice. She repeated to Lere everytime she had the opportunity; what they owe the children is an investment in their education, quality of friends and positioning them for greatness.

Lere had a special bond with his daughters. They loved their father; he was their world. They weren’t close to their mother. Zara was strict and imposing. She wanted her children to behave like ladies but Lere was indifferent. He didn’t understand what the fuss was about.

Zara insisted they learnt etiquettes and were groomed as ladies. Her experience dealing with the rich made her want to prepare her children for greatness, especially her girls. The girls were not excited about Zara’s choices. Uma listened to her mother most times but Ursula was a social butterfly. She made her own rules and had her father to support her. She always challenged Zara’s instructions and wanted explanations for why she had to obey them. Uma understood her mother better. She didn’t think the instructions were outrageous and they seemed to put them on a higher pedestal when they were with their friends.

Ursula wanted to be set free. She got into trouble in school most times and had even been suspended once. She was amongst the bad girls in school who enjoyed touting. Lere had to choose between having a wayward daughter (it was looking like she was edging towards that) or supporting his wife’s ways. He settled for the latter. Even with all her troubles, she was still very intelligent and performed excellently at academics.

Mayowa was the very gentle one. He loved his family and was very focused. Zara was the love of his life and he didn’t hide it. He spent more time with his father learning how to be a man (at Zara’s insistence). He never argued with Zara’s choices and obeyed her instructions. The only problem his parents had with him as from adolescent was how untidy he became. He was neat and tidy in person but his room was always a mess. When Zara complained, he had a way of manipulating her. He had his father’s charm and his mother’s sophistication. But there was something special about Mayowa, he was a believer. He was a staunch Catholic like his mother. His father was scared he was going to be a reverend father but he laughed it off.

The three children were beautiful. The family was one many admired; beautiful creatures, rich and classy. The twins never liked to dress alike. The wore whatever they liked and lived individuals lives. But, don’t be deceived, they were very close. Ursula is the brightest while Uma followed closely behind but it never made Uma feel less of threatened. She had the love of her parents for being the perfect child while Ursula was the rebellious one. Mayowa was in a world of his own; intelligent, exceptional good looking, charming and gets along very well with both parents.

Zara went to see one of her biggest customers she offered specialised banking services to. She attended to his needs by herself for political reasons. That particular visit changed the course of their lives.

Otunba Williams was the National Party Chairman of Democratic Party of the Federation – DPF. The party had spread its might in the last election winning four new states in the South West. It was strategising on how to win the other states in the next election. They were discussing choosing aspirants when Zara was ushered into his presence.

When Otunba saw her, he said to her as she knelt to greet him to the amazement of those in his company, “Zara, what state is your husband from?”

“Ogun state, sir”

“Will he allow you to run for Governor?” he asked her.

Before she could answer, a party member replied, “They will never allow a woman to run. Why would you even want to suggest that?”

“Because I trust her. I trust her with my life. I have no secret where she is. You know if I am involved with any woman she will never know anything about me. This girl turned me down so politely and instead requested I mentored her to be great like me. For a woman to turn me down and still want to tap from my wealth of knowledge, I succumbed. She has proven herself to be a professional. She doesn’t take money from me except when I buy her a gift. I have spoiled her with different types of jewellery and wristwatches. I’m sure she doesn’t know the worth of what she has. She is someone who if given a task will do it with doggedness when others say it is impossible. I don’t know much about her husband but I will have a chat with him. If he has half of her integrity, doggedness, dedication to a cause, he will run the state perfectly. With her by his side, I know he will do an excellent job. Don’t forget, we want to change the narratives and do more for our people than we do for ourselves. We shall reap the reward in the long run.”

“Otunba, you always look out for the good in people. If I didn’t know better, I would have sworn you have some ‘involvement’ with this woman. But since I know you will never allow a mistress handle your finance, I believe you. Interview her husband and we will decide after we have met with him. The other options cannot be trusted. We need a new face and a new drive to prove to our people we can bring true change.”

“You got it right Jide. Zara, is your husband someone we can trust? Will he be loyal to us and work according to our directives?”

“He is not a politician. He works as a General Manager for a telecommunications company. He is doing quite well on the job; he will soon be promoted to Executive Director if all goes well. I am not sure he will be interested in governing a state; we have never spoken about it. I will have a discussion with him and get back to you. If you can convince him to join your team, I can assure you, he will deliver beyond your expectations.”

“How many women can speak about their husbands like this. She is not pushing for him to be considered, she is leaving the decision to him. You are a good woman. Where are you from? We could make you governor of your state,” one other party member added.

“Sir, I am from Imo state. In my state, they will never allow a woman to be governor. Worse still someone like me who married a Yoruba man. My people believe I have made them lose something precious. They call me efurefu which means someone who is lost. They use derogatory words on me but I keep calm. Watching me progress over the years have made them stop but if I show interest in politics, it will be worse. I have younger brothers who might be interested in clean politics. But, I will recommend they start from the grassroot and grow from there.”

“Tunde, did she respond to you well? I know why I said I trust this girl. Zara, talk to your husband and brothers, I will interview them and choose. Let’s enter my private chamber to transact business.”

That night, while Lere was trying to convince her body to get in the mood for some action, she brought up the topic. She told Lere her response and also told him it was his decision. Lere removed his hand from under the top of her lingerie. He sat up and was lost in thoughts. He was confused.

Just last week, his mother called him. She had gone to see the prophet again and the man had a revelation for her. In a vision, he saw her cheering her son as people were bowing down to him. He stood wearing full regalia. His wife was also beautifully dressed but she stood infront of him. He was confused, who were they bowing to? Then he saw another woman join the stage. She stood beside her son. His wife walked away from the stage and the cheering began to die down. Some people went to bring her back to the stage, the cheering increased. When she leaves, the cheering dies down. The prophet said, “Tell your son, he is apart to be exalted. I don’t know how but he will be. His wife will be his pillar. No matter what happens, he shouldn’t leave his wife. If she leaves it would spell doom to him. Tell him.”

Lere laughed at the revelation when he heard it but now he could see it was no joke. Someone approached his wife to make her governor but she instead is asking him to think about taking the opportunity. He knew he had won the election already. He had to tread softly with Zara.

Over the years he had perfected his skills of loving her openly and in private. They had an enviable love story. He never took her for granted and gave her everything she wanted. He watched her grow in her career. Initially, he was scared when she joined Private banking but he decided to trust her and she had never given him any cause to doubt her.

He had had numerous affairs which he had perfected how to hide it from her. He only met with them when he was not in the same state with his wife. Any hotel he stayed in, his paid for a separate room for the ladies. He went to meet hem in their rooms so if she spins a surprise she will never catch him in his room. It was clever and he had enjoyed it over the years until he met Timi.

She was a corper attached to one of the departments he handled. She was every man’s desire except she was chocolate. She had beautiful well rounded h¡ps and buttocks, full standing bossom, small w–st and they were all natural. She wasn’t all that beautiful but she was attractive. What she lacked in looks she was well compensated in her physical attributes. Her most outstanding quality, she was daring and always got what she wanted. She wanted Lere, she made it crystal clear from day one.

Lere was attracted to her but he didn’t want an office r0mance that could leak to Zara. He refused her numerous advances. He edged on until her service year was over. She relocated back to Abuja, came back and opened a spa. She came to her former place of employment to drop her fliers and advertise her services which included s-× enhancers for male and female. She invited Lere for a free session which he declined initially.

When other staff members told him how effective her products were and how they enjoyed the spa treatment, he was convinced to take her up on the offer. He fixed an appointment and went there from work. She attended to him specially. He got all the treatment. She massaged him, she started with clothes on and before long all her clothes and underwear were gone. Lere stared at her naked flesh while she massaged his body. He knew he had fallen into the lion’s den.

The s-× was beyond amazing. He was tempted to spend the night with her cooking up an excuse but he didn’t want to take chances with Zara. Instead he was back there on Sunday morning after Zara and the children had gone to church. He told her he was going to play golf at his chairman’s house. It wasn’t the first time so no questions were asked.

Timi invited him to her house in Magodo. When he got there, she had on a see through slip as she answered the door. Her n¡ppies were er×¢t, pointing at him and he could see the outline of her body. “You won’t kill me, this girl” was all he could say before jumped into the pool of lust.

The relationsh¡p had been on for almost two years. They had been discreet. She knew there was no way he would leave his wife for her and she understood (or so he thought). They met mostly when he travelled, she would join him there. They even go on foreign trips together. She had his name tattooed on her w–st which lere loved to see when he rammed into her from the back.

He gave her money. He took very good care of her. She had no other lover than him. Timi had told him how much she loved him and he claimed to love her too. He had met her family members. Timi was the last child of three children. Her two elder brothers had finished school and were managing work somewhere. It was Timi that was fending for the family. Lere sent her two brothers abroad to find their way. He built a house for her mother; her father was late.

How was he to convince Timi to end the relationsh¡p if he has to work with his wife to attain this exalted position? He will be made for life if he achieves this. He was addicted to Timi. They met often but they didn’t have s-× as often as they did initially. She complained their s-× live was boring and she wanted to spice it up a little. He had his first ever threesome with her. She brought her friend who was very light in complexion and equally endowed. There was nothing she wouldn’t do to make him happy. He decided to see where this leads first before ending things with Timi.

He told Zara the next morning he was willing to have a discussion with Otunba to know what is expected of him and how convinced they were he would win.

“Lere, if you want to take this offer because you want to get rich quick or because you want to be known and respected, I don’t think you should do it. The curses the masses have placed on politicians affect not just the politicians but also their families. If you want to take this up to serve your people and bring succour to them, then I will support whatever decision you have made.”

“Zara, I thought about it. My mother received a revelation about this. The people were hailing me. They hailed me because I represented what they wanted. You know I can’t do this alone; I want you to be right beside me helping me achieve all my goals. You always come up with fantastic ideas and projects. I will need you to walk this path with me reminding me the reason why we’re doing this together. But, if you feel I can’t do it, then I drop the idea.”

“I know you can do it; you are a good man. I just wanted to be sure you shared the same ideologies with me. We will join politics to bring the desired change. Let’s see Otunba tomorrow night.”
