Chapter Twenty-six: (Episode 6)

Since last night, my brain has been occupied. Truth be told.
First, I could have been a dead corpse for the second time. Trying to save my ass from getting burned, only to end up in the worst theory of all.
Until he saved me. That’s second thought.
He was extraordinarily enchanting. Just the first time and it’s like the hundredth time I’ve seen him. If I was told he’s a human, for no reason would I believe. He’s a damn god.
Was he an angel in human form? I’ve never seen him and all of a sudden he just appeared when death almost knocked at my door.
They say everyone’s got a guardian angel, am I already falling in love with mine?
Definitely not…
Tina had been so worried about me. She thinks I have somehow lost my memory again. I’m fine, okay? A hundred percent sure but she won’t understand.
Falling from a castle thousand times taller than a skyscraper only to be saved by a mysterious guardian angel. It’s really difficult for me to comprehend this all right now.
I mean, I just wanna be alone for now.
I went down the hallway with my arms around my chest. From the in,side I could feel the cold air from the outside and you know, it’s something I need right now. Something to freeze the thoughts out.
I breathed deeply.
I made a stop at what looked like a corridor, pressing the door knob down revealing the outside. I could feel the cold shivers, causing a noticeable goose bumps on my skin.
I had thought of spending as much time as I can to think but seeing him a front, has changed everything.
He skin glitters to the reflection of the moon light. His hair almost like a ponytail, he stood like a god. A king about to give orders and by a mere look at him, I could feel the electric intense burn in me.
His beauty is beyond description. And if you’d try describing him, it’ll only take a year to tell what he looks like.
“It’s pretty good, huh?” I said, knowing that was the only way to draw his attention.” I always look at the moon anytime I felt alone, hoping that some kind of moon spirit would will accompany me. But it’s only a myth, there’s no moon spirit. ”
He looked at me, trying so much to put a smile on his face.
” I’m Skylar. ”
” I’m Derek.” He said, an accent adorned his voice.
“I never thought I’d see you again. Do you live in this fortress? ”
” Yes. I barely come out. ” He plainly said, not looking at me.
Not complaining, tho.
” Mmm. It’s a lot boring staying in door all day. How you coping with that? ”
He smirked softly, ” I’m used to it already. ”
“I understand” I totally do.
I would steal glance at him, with a small smile which came out involuntarily each time I do that. He was so quiet, maybe he just preferred being that way. Or can actually be his nature.
I ain’t disturbing, am I?
“Sometimes, I wish I’d go home, but I can’t. Maybe it’s my fate to be here for some reasons I don’t know. I know they’re a lot of people missing me and those who thinks I’m dead. But what can I do? I feel like here is already a part of me. ”
I don’t know if telling him all this were necessary but that’s just the truth. I feel like I’m bond to this place, like I’m kinda connected to it. All still, it feels like home being here.
I didn’t notice we have been staring at each other until I heard a voice called me.
That was my conscience speaking.
Urgh!
Before I could take my eyes off him, I noticed his colour change. The once glittering skin turned pale and whiter than earlier. He seemed to have noticed me staring, he looked away.
“You’re turning white. Are you okay?” I asked.
“I’m fine. ” He said with some difficulties and I knew he was lying.
“You don’t look okay, let me see if I…”
“No,” he objected, moving few steps aside. ” Don’t bother about me.”
“But you’re… You look sick.” I insisted.
My voice sounded more concerned than I was that the look on my face could tell how obvious it was. Something is wrong with him, and I know that but he’s just so stubborn to let me help.
He saved my life last night, is not a bad thing saving his, is it?
“Why don’t you want me to help you?” I looked at his hands, they were shaking but he held it with his other hand to prevent it from being so obvious. “Does it always happen this way all the time? ”
He said nothing, ignoring everything I said. Like he could handle it all by himself even though he can’t. And he’s just like Logan when he ignores.
A habit I find more annoying.
Despite how hærd I wanted to help, he refused to comply. So, I had to do what I always did to Logan. I walked up to him holding his hand in mine. They were cold and vibrating yet, he fought hærd to walk away like he was scared of something.
I carefully studied his eyes and I saw something strange about the once charming eyes. But he was too quick to take his eyes off me.
I don’t know if I was scared but there was this feeling running in my in,side that wanted me to run but only to find myself standing instead.
Someone tell me it’s not what I am thinking.
Someone prove me wrong ’cause this is f-cking obvious that he isn’t just a human.
He’s a vampire. They all are.
“You’ve been starving yourself from eating haven’t you?”
He looked at me like he was reading my mind or something. ” I’m practicing. ”
I chuckled, ” You practice not to eat?”
“I practice not to eat those beside me. ”
I stiffened, letting my hand off his. ” You… you wanna eat me?”
“I wanted, but not anymore.” He said with guilt in his words.
I shifted away from him, not letting my presence cause him any more reaction than it had already caused.
“You don’t have to worry, I’m not planning on killing you. ”
” It’s okay, I’m not scared. ”
He looked at me with disbelief.” I’ve seen a vampire before, bigger and mightier. At my front he murmured an innocent girl, tortured her even after she’s dead. I might not know you so much but I’m sure you’re not like him, you’re different. I might have been scared before, but not anymore. ”
I smiled, trying to believe myself. ” Well, it’s nice talking with you. I just wanted to say thank you for saving my life, I don’t know what I could have been without your help. Good night Derek. ”
I left.

” Why didn’t you tell me you’re a vampire? ” I asked Tina, angrily.
” How did you know? ”
” Answer my question. Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I was scared you’ll hate me. ”
I scoffed.
” Humans hate us, they see us a demons. So, we prefer to keep our identities hidden. ”
” Why would you think I’d hate you? ”
” Skylar, you have to understand. ”
” Understand, huh? Tina, we’ve been friends for a long time now and you know how much I respect you for that. Why on Earth would you think of me that way? Don’t you trust me? ”
” I do… ”
” Then tell me! Explain why you did what you did? ”
” The first time you were brought into the castle, I was assigned to take care of you until you wake up but I had to send Jennifer to do it. Not because I can’t or didn’t want to, it’s because I was scared I’d hurt you. Your blood was different from any I’ve ever perceived and it was irresistable so I had to call Jennifer instead. ”
” Is she a vampire too? ”
” No, ” she replied. ” With the way you always talk about your friends, I thought the only way to be like them is to act human. Least did I know, you were never intimidating. I’m sorry for mistaken you.”
I nodded, pulling her into a hug.” I think you did the right thing. But the truth is, you’re no different from Vera and Crystal. You don’t have to hide who you are because of me, it’s a lot intimidating than anything else. I forgive you. ”
” How did you know? ”
” I just found that out from a friend. ”
She broke the hug staring at me,” a friend? ”
” Yeah, Derek, that’s his name.”
She chuckled.
“What?”
Chuckles again, ” nothing. He’s cool. He told you he was a vampire? ”
” He didn’t, I just found that out myself. He was reacting, his whole body grew pale all of a sudden. ”
” How far were you from him? ”
” Inches away, I guess. Why? ”
” He was resisting the urge of drinking your blood.”
” I don’t understand. I wasn’t even that close to him. ”
” Vampires are sensitive to blood no matter how far or near it is. Especially to those who aren’t bitten yet. ”
” Just like you were to me when I first came here? ”
” Yes. ”
” What would happen if he bite me? ”
” There’s only two chance in it. Either you turn to a vampire or, you die. Depending on how strong your blood reacts to the bite. ”
” When I was with him, I felt some connections with him. The way he looks at me, like someone I’ve known before, someone I feel in love with. ”
