CHAPTER 29

“I can’t believe we’re actually really stuck here” Valerie said, sitting beside Dwayne on the floor
“Stuck in paradise” Dwayne said and they both laughed
“but honestly this place is cool” Valerie said
“Yeah… I know” he replied
He checked the time in his wristwatch
“9:30, we still have a lot of time to spend here before daybreak” he said
“How long” she replied, bringing out her phone
She dialled Susan’s number ..
“Mum”
“I’ve been worried, are you still at the hospital? ”
” No, I’m stuck in a place with a friend, but don’t worry I’ll be fine and we’ll be back tommorow morning” she said
” Really?, Hope there’s no cold over there?, And will you really be fine? ” She asked
” Sure, no cold and I’ll be perfectly fine, just sleep well tonight, I love you! ”
” I love you more daughter” Susan replied
She hung up
Dwayne smiled
“Mummy’s daughter” he said
“Yeah.. that’s me” she replied with a pout
“I’m here, no need to be scared” he said
“Hero Dwayne” she said and they laughed again
*It’d have been better if I’m the hero of my own life too” he said sadly
” Huh? ”
” Yeah… My f*cking dad wants to take the ownersh¡p of my own life, and as if that’s not enough, my stepmom is acting like fuel to the burning fire… She’s always worsening matters, then talk about Darien, he’s one he.ll of a fking fool!” he said
She kept looking at him
” I haven’t done anything for myself before, when I wanted to choose highschool, he was the one who choose Lighthouse for me without even telling me beforehand, he choose the class I’ll be in, he choose my teachers, the only thing left for him to be choosing now is the clothes I wear” he said
” Dwayne….
“Yeah… That’s the kind of boring life I have, that’s how boring my life is cos I don’t get to control anything, my life is being lived for me” he said
” I’m… Sorry” Valerie said
” Why would you be sorry” he said
” I just… Feel sorry for you” she replied
He smiled wryly before facing her
“You don’t have to feel sorry retarded” he said
She smiled and slowly held his hand
” Everything will be fine, Please don’t brood too much ok?” She said
“Nagging again…. How will I have time to brood when you’re always making me happy?, Thanks for being my friend Val” he said
” It’s nothing” she replied, staring at the bracelets on their wrists
” I love it I swear, it’s kind of.. unique” he said
“The bead maker I bought it from said it’s the only two in the wh0le world, you can’t find it’s type anywhere in the world again” Val replied, still holding his hand
He sighed and rested his head on the wall
“It’s somehow cold” she said
He looked at her as she hugged herself with her arms
“Come here” he said
She looked at him and he pulled her to himself, he made her head rest on his chest and wrapped her up with his arms
She’s surprised but she’s happy
“How’s it now?” He asked
“Better, I feel warm now” she replied
He smiled and inhaled hærd
“You know I feel like you’re important to me somehow, I feel safe, guarded and protected, I feel happy too whenever we’re together and….
He stopped and looked at her, she’s already dozing off in a sound sleep
He smiled as he stared at her face
“Pretty retarded” he said slowly
Next morning**
Valerie woke up in his arms and looked up at his face, he’s still sleeping and he’s still holding her in his arms
“Dream come true, I spent the night in same room with him, in his arms!”
She continued staring at him and his face is just too perfect with no bruises
He suddenly opened his eyes and when their eyes met, they stared for over a minute before getting back to their senses
“G.. good morning” she said awkwardly
He gently let go of her and stood, she stood too
“Morning retarded” he said.
“Grumpy Bear” she said
They both smiled before leaving the place as the door is opened already

“Morning dad!, Morning mum!” Robin said loudly as he entered their room this morning
” How was your night dear?” Melanie asked as he climbed the bed and sat between them
“Twas full of sweet dreams, yours mum?” He said
“Twas blissful” she replied, hugging him
Robin looked at Philip who’s still pretending to be asleep, he smiled before hitting his face with a pillow,
Philip spranged up with a smile on his handsome face
“Boy” he said and hugged him too
“Your night was blissful, I don’t need to ask” Robin said
“Of course” he replied as a notification came on his laptop
“That must be our pictures” Melanie said
“I can’t wait to see how hot we look!” Robin said loudly as Philip grabbed the laptop
He opened it and it’s indeed the pictures, over two hundred
“When are we gonna finish looking at them?” Robin said as Philip clicked on the first one, one of Melanie’s personal pictures
“Dmn!” Philip said, she actually puckered her l-ips in the picture and it makes her look too cute
“I love you sweetheart” Philip said, blowing her a kss
“Awwn…but mum you’re too pretty, you’re beautiful too…. but you deserve all the beauty cos you’re my mother, much love sweetheart” Robin said
Melanie covered her cheeks when she started blushing
The second one is one of their family pictures and happiness is even emanating from the picture
“Cute family!” Robin gushed
“I love you both a lot” Philip said, kssing them both on the cheeks
The third one is one of Robin’s personal pictures and he’s freaking….. cute…
Who said he’s only cute?, He’s hot!, He looks too hot for his age and despite the fact that he pulled a serious face in the picture, it’s adorable…
“My darling is too cute” Melanie said
“My boy is just like me, extra hot” Philip said
“I’m too handsome dad, if I’m this handsome at this age, I wonder how much more handsome I’ll be if I grow more” he said in a c*cky tone
“Full of himself” Philip said
“Leave my son alone” Melanie said
Philip smiled and slide into the next one, one of his personal pictures
He breathed hærd as they all stared at it
“My gosh!, Am I really the owner of this dangerously handsome dude?, Phil I fell over and over again… I love you a million bunches” she said and blew k-sses at the picture
“I have the most handsome dad in the world, go$h!” Robin said
They looked at the remaining ones for over an hour, they’re still watching pictures
“Over hundred magazines wants to publish you as their face” Melanie said
” But I’m only choosing one for now” he replied
“And it’s…..?”
“Current gists” he replied
” And newsflash Robin, our wedding will be two days after my concert” Philip said
” OMG!” Robin exclaimed

Dwayne can’t help but think about her all day
Maybe because it’s always great to be with her…
He ate good food today and decided to rest a lot but it seems impossible, sleep isn’t even coming when he decided to take a nap
He sat up on the couch again and almost immediately, his doorbell rang
“I’m not expecting anyone” he said slowly as he went to open the door
Darien came to view with a smirk
“Never know I just opened my door for a warthog” Dwayne said
“So you’re really really into the girl” Darien said
” What the he.ll are you spewing”
“Valerie, she’s mine” Darien said
Dwayne smiled shortly
” Are you nuts?, So you’re here to push out nonsense from that rotten mouth of yours” Dwayne said
” I’ll do everything possible to keep you both apart, trust me. ..you know when I want something, I do everything possible to get it and now I want her but you’re being an obstacle, can’t you just date Whitney?” Darien said
” Date Whitney?, Like dating is now a game?, If Whitney turns to the second Aphrodite, I can’t ever look at that bitch… Val is my friend, my one and only friend so there’s no way I’m letting her go just cos of an idi©t like you who wants nothing but to fk and dump, and you know what?, Don’t come near her… I’ll wound you…. bl©©dy son of a d©g!” Dwayne spat angrily before closing the door
” F*vk you Dwayne!, I know just what to do!, You’ll regret calling me names I swear!’ Darien said from outside
Dwayne fell back on the couch , breathing heavily
“Dmn you Darien” he said slowly….
His mind went to Valerie again
He picked his phone and Called her….
“Hey retarded”
“Grumpy Bear…… watssup?, Eaten?”
“Yeah, steak” he replied
” My gosh!, You ate something good today, I’m so happy!, So now you see it’s good to eat humans food” she said
” You mean noodles and bread are aliens food?” Dwayne replied with a smile, biting his lip fondly
*I mean…. noodles and bread aren’t that solid, you need solid food to gain strength” she said
” Ok, nagging queen, but why does it feel good to hear or see you nagging me?” He said
” Maybe cos I’m pretty” she replied
He laughed loudly
” Ok…I agree, you’re pretty…” He said

*I just blushed..the great Dwayne Macaulay just said I’m pretty” she said
” Silly you” he replied
” I was just about to take a nap when you called” she said
“I was trying to do that too but it ain’t coming” he said
” You know what?, Sleep starts with S right?”
” Sure”
” Start saying words that starts with S and you’ll sleep before you realize, it works for me, ion know if it’ll work for you” she said
” Ok, I’ll try it, thanks retarded” he said
“Bye Grumpy Bear, see ya in school tomorrow!”
She hung up and Dwayne smiled before putting down his phone
He closed his eyes and tried what Valerie said
“Some, sack, slap, sick, sleep, slack, scarce, scary, swap, s’mores, sap, small, sit, sail…
Before he could say up to thirty, he slept off…

Evening**
Melanie and Philip are waiting in the airport already for Leo’s arrival, Robin was sleeping when they were coming, they’d have taken him along…
Immediately the plane landed and the passengers started coming down, Philip used his mask before getting out of the car with Melanie…
Soon an handsome guy can be seen walking towards them….
Philip smiled under his mask as Leo got to him and they hugged each other so tight as if they’ll run away if they leave each other
The driver is busy packing his luggage to the booth
“Bestie!!!, olenmanieyo ( it’s been a while)” Leo scre-med
” Stop speaking Korean” Philip said as they broke the hug
” I just said it has been a while” he said, smiling big
” A while?, Seven years is a while?” Philip replied, the mask he’s wearing made his voice muffled a bit
“I’m just too happy to see you again” Leo replied and they hugged again, all this while… Melanie has been looking at them and smiling largely
Leo suddenly shift his gaze to her
“His sweetheart?” He asked
Melanie nodded
“OMG!, You’re pretty!” He exclaimed
“Thanks Leo” she replied radiantly
“Like seriously you’re cute” Leo said again
They got in the car and Leo can’t stop chatting
“Like seriously guy, you’re more handsome than I remember” Philip said, taking off his mask
” OMG!, Philip is this really you?, I mean… you’re hot!, Hotter than I remember” he said
” Thanks to her, her delicious food is one of a kind, and the love she gives me is enough to make me glow” Philip said and winked at Melanie who smiled charmingly…
“By the way… meet Melanie, my woman” Philip said
“How cute! OMG!” Leo said
” You and this OMG of a thing” Philip said
“By the way I’m Leo like you know, the full one will be Leo Sancho….I traveled to Korea seven years ago after this dude quit singing just because a bch left him for no reason…but now you came into his life and he’s ready to sing again…you don’t know how Important you are… thanks very much Melanie” Leo said
” Thanks for coming back for him too” Melanie replied…
“By the way where’s that cute little boy?, He was just three months old back then” Leo said
” My boy is at home, you’ll meet him soon” Philip replied
The driver pulled up in front of the house and they all stepped out before entering the house…
Robin is sitting in the living room, eating popcorn
“Mum dad, you never told me you were going out” he said, standing up to hug them both
” You were sleeping and we didn’t want to disturb you” Melanie said
He looked at Leo and smiled
“Leo?” He said
“You got it kid!” Leo said
“Ion like people who call me kid” Robin replied
“OMG he has a big attitude, how straightforward, ok I’ll be straightforward too, sorry for calling you a kid, just that you were just three months old back then when I was traveling” Leo said
” But now I’m grown up” Robin said
Melanie and Philip giggled
“Of course you are, give me your knuckle” Leo said and they hit their knuckles lightly
“So we’re good now” Leo said
“Yeah…I’m Robin by the way”
“Oh.. Rob”
” Or Robinson, just call me anyone out of the three, and I bet you won’t wanna leave this house if you taste mum’s food once” Robin said
” I’m just spending the night here, I’ll go to my house tomorrow morning, I’ll just be coming here for rehearsals with your dad” Leo replied
Melanie entered the kitchen to cook something delicious while the two friends went up to the practice room
Robin stayed in the living room, watching TV
“The lines are cool and crazy as always” Leo said when Philip showed him the song in his song book
“Yeah, and the keyboard won’t be hærd to enter too…..” Philip said
” Trust me, I can play anything” Leo said
” I’m planning to surprise my fans and let the concert happen on Friday, then I’ll release the album with J-bliss on Saturday, my wedding follows on Sunday” Philip said
” Nice setting buddy nice setting…we need back to back rehearsals, but you didn’t write the title of the song on top of it” Leo said
” WITHOUT YOU, that’s it” Philip said
” Whoa!, Hot!, Like seriously I love the lines, tell your producer to make the announcement tonight, they should release the date and you should update your page too, then the magazine pictures, faces and covers, wallpapers and everything should be sold out from Monday till Wednesday, Thursday will be for selling your concert tickets” Leo said
” Master planner” Philip said and hugged him
“I love you bro” Leo said with a smile
“What would I have done without you” Philip said
“Don’t say that again” Leo replied
“We’re starting rehearsals tonight” Philip said
“Sure, but I need to freshen up and eat first” Leo replied
” Once you taste my sweetheart food…
” What will happen?” Leo asked as they walked out of the room…
” You’ll want to eat the plate and spoon together with it” Philip said as they descend the stairs…
” You’ll even eat the jug cos the water she serves is sweet too” Robin said from the base of the stairs, standing like a professor with Philip’s fashion glasses on his eyes…
CHAPTER 30
Philip Started laughing hærd at Robin’s seriousness, you’ll think he’s one cool professor with the fashion glasses
“Really?, I’ll eat the jug?” Leo said
“Trust me” Robin replied, removing the glasses
” Rob… Ion know why but I just like your personality, always Straight” Leo said, laughing too
” People do say I have a unique personality, and I’m proud of it” he replied
Leo smiled before going back upstairs
Philip showed him to a room he’ll be sleeping in, he then left him to freshen up before coming back downstairs
Robin is back to the living room now
He went straight to the kitchen and tried to tiptoe without Melanie’s knowledge but he got caught when Melanie looked back swiftly
“Got you! ‘ she said, smiling prettily with the spoon in her hand
Philip smiled and went closer, he hugged her tightly
“I miss you” he said
“I’m here, why are you still missing me” she said
“Ion know, well that’s one of the lines of my song” he said
She smiled and pecked his l-ips lightly
” I love you” she whispered
“Love you more* he replied in a whisper too
He let go of her and left the kitchen to meet Robin in the living room, he’s watching the avengers. …
“Your favorite character?” Philip asked
“Thor” Robin replied simply
” Why? ”
” Ion know, I just love how he handles the hammer” he replied
Leo came downstairs with a book
” You and horror novels, I’m sure that’s an horror novel” Philip said as Leo sat on the opposite couch
” Yeah….. The Mighty Demon” Leo replied
“Fortunately you have an horror novel partner here, my sweetheart is a die hærd fan of it” Philip said
” You aren’t serious” Leo replied
” Trust me she is, I knew it the day I saw her reading Mystery Of The Dark Room volume 2″ he replied
” You read it with her? ” Leo asked quickly
“Nope, she won’t let me read it and she won’t tell me what happened in there” Philip replied
” It’s better not to read it” Leo replied and started reading his book
“Even you?, Now I’m very curious” Philip said
“Won’t your mum be coming?” Leo asked, changing the topic
“My sweet mum will be here on Wednesday, it’s supposed to be a surprise cos I won’t tell sweetheart till Wednesday morning” he replied
” Is she still an horror novel reader?” Leo asked
“Of course, she can’t do without it* Philip replied
Robin noticed how Leo cleverly diverted his dad’s attention when they were talking about the book
“Is it something really bad?, I’ll find out” he thought
“Man… Life in Korea is fun but not very fun without you” Leo said
” I know, I’m the sauce” Philip replied
” Silly you, but now I’m back, if I’m going back at all, it’ll be with you maybe for two days fun” Leo said
” Food Is ready” Melanie suddenly said
They all proceeded to the dinning and sat while Melanie dished for everyone
“OMG!” Leo exclaimed after tasting it
“OMG again, you don’t get tired of it” Philip said
“I mean… This is the best thing I’ve ever ate” Leo said
“That’s what we said the first time we tasted it too…” Philip replied…
Leo Started eating in mouthfuls
Melanie smiled as she sat beside Ronin and ate with them too
“Heard you’re also a fan of horror novels like me” Leo said
“Sure” Melanie replied
” Whoa!, Then we rock” Leo said
“Yeah we rock” she replied
“No one rocks with my mum except my dad” Robin said…
” How overprotective” Leo said with a wide smile
*Well I’m a chef” Melanie said”
” I knew it!, This is so delicious” Leo replied and continued eating…
They talked and chatted till they finished eating and Robin went to bed
Melanie stayed in her room, reading another novel, the two friends went into the practice room to rehearse and no matter how much she strained her ears, she can’t hear the song
Maybe they’re singing it slowly cos they don’t want her to hear yet
But she’s hearing the faint keyboard sound and only that is sweet already…..
Next day…**
A Monday morning, Leo went to his own apartment and the selling of MV’s picture magazine started, he took the face of current gists magazine and his wallpapers were given out to lucky fans..
It was an hectic day and it’ll be hectic like that throughout the week
Fans are waiting for Friday with great anticipation… Friday night, the concert night….
Lighthouse highschool**
“I think I should use the restroom” Valerie said during lunch break
” Don’t take long” Lillian said
“I’ll meet you at the cafeteria” Valerie replied and rushed to the restroom to urinate, while urinating, water from the open top of the toilet landed on her
It’s no ordinary water… Soapy one
She closed her eyes so it won’t enter but it has already entered…
She managed to clean up with her eyes closed before finding the way with her hands out of the restroom
“How funny” a voice said beside her
Without asking, it’s surely Whitney
She started laughing derisively..
“Leave my crush!, If you don’t then this is just the beginning” Whitney said
” Just date me and stop suffering” Darien’s voice said
Valerie laughed despite her hurting eyes that’s closed
“So the two of you are in conjunction…. Stop wasting your efforts cos it’s useless” she replied
Valerie suddenly felt a hand spanking her butt
“Darien how dare you!” She scre-med, feeling pained that she can’t open her eyes
Whitney started laughing
“How’s it?, I’m sure she’ll still be a vrgn so her bum will still be bouncing.. and her thing will be so sweet, Valerie allow a good boy to have you and just leave my crush for me” Whitney said…
They both laughed again
” Press her chest Darien” Whitney said
“I’ll surely do that” he replied…
Valerie quickly covered herself in her standing position…
Darien’s hand is about to touch her when Dwayne hit him in the face, Lillian kicked Whitney in the face too and they both went down at a time
“You’re here hara$$ing a girl?, You both need to be killed and your body should be fed to fishes” Lillian said and held Valerie’s hand, she took her out of the place
Darien and Whitney stood
“How dare you hit my face!” Darien said angrily
“All bark, no bite, I pity you… You’ll end up dying a painful dea.th at this rate, bl©©dy bum-wipe” Dwayne said before facing Whitney
” You…. You think I’ll look at you after doing all this? Impossible, looking at you is really really impossible and one more thing.. anytime this happens again, I’ll make you regret it” he said
” You know I told you I’ll wound you anytime you touch her Darien… That one on your face is just the preamble, touch her again then I’ll be making you pay for it” Dwayne said seriously before storming out of the place
” Sht! ” They both said at a time…
“Sorry baby” Lillian said after Valerie has cleaned up
“It’s ok” she replied, coming out of the staffs bathroom with only a new towel on her body
“What will I wear?” She said
Lillian’s eyes w¡dened
” I haven’t thought of that…. My sports wear is at home” Lillian said
“Mine isn’t available too” Valerie replied
” What do we do? ” Lillian said
” I have no idea” Valerie replied
“Here” someone said from the door, they looked at the direction and saw a hand with sports wear and snickers but the face is unseen behind the door … Even at that Valerie knows who it is .. it’s Dwayne cos the bracelet is on his visible wrist
She smiled as Lillian took it from his hand
“Thanks to anyone it is” Lillian said
He left Immediately
Valerie changed into his sports wear and snickers quickly, luckily they use same size of snickers, his foot must be so small…
Though the sports wear is a little bigger than her but it’s cute
“Go to class, I’ll meet you” she said after they came out of the bathroom
” You can’t take long, school exams are starting by next week so every time is not to be wasted” Lillian said
” Sure” she replied and they left separately
Valerie got to the school garden and met him standing
“Why did you allow yourself to get bullied like that? ” He asked
” It wasn’t my fault, I was urinating in the toilet when they poured soapy water on me from the top, I couldn’t open my eyes, I could have fought for myself.. trust me” she said, dipping her hands into the hoodie pocket…
He inhaled hærd and drew her closer by her arm, she stood in front of him and looked up at him
“Ion know why but I hate seeing you getting bullied like that” he said
She smiled
” It’s because we’re friends” she said
“Maybe” he replied and hugged her..
She can’t ask for more, he hugged her willingly this time
“My sports wear looks good on you” he said
“I know… I love how it looks” she replied
He suddenly started stroking her hair along with the hug, it’s still slightly w-t but he doesn’t care..
