CHAPTER 41

“Sweetheart” Philip called, climbing downstairs with Robin in his arms, Robin is dressed for school already

“Yes love? ‘ Melanie replied from the dinning room

Philip smiled at that reply, if there’s anything good or lovely he loves to hear most in the world, it’s her voice anytime she calls him r©mantic names

She’s already setting the table for breakfast, Philip dropped Robin and helped him sit on a chair

“Now boy, eat well” Philip said

Melanie blew him ksses and he smiled, a brave mother I’ve got, he thought

“I hired guards already, I mean to follow you around and to follow Robin to and from school” Philip said

” That’s fine” Melanie said simply

Almost immediately, her phone rang, it’s actually her mum calling, she picked hurriedly

“Hey mum, good morning”

“The morning is not good Melanie, it’s not good at all, Valerie passed out and we’re currently at Survivors hospitals” Susan replied, she’s apparently sobbing on phone..

” What! ”

” Yes daughter, she’s in with the doctors, I don’t know what to do”

” I’ll be there in a jiffy” she replied and hung up

” What’s the problem? ” Philip asked with concern..

“My sis, my sis is in the hospital” she replied

*The coffee girl?, Why? ” Robin said

” I don’t know yet, I’ll get to know when I get there” Melanie replied

” Robin, I think you should go to school now, we need to go see her in the hospital” Philip said

” But dad I want to go see her too” he replied, dropping his spoon

” You promised never to argue with Dad” Philip said

“Ok dad, say hi to her on my behalf” he replied slowly as Melanie carried her out of the house where his driver is already waiting, he pecked her cheeks before he was dropped in the car and it moved with guards driving behind…. Angelina kiddies school, here he comes.

Melanie and Philip rushed into the hospital and met Susan crying at the reception, the type of tear that’ll make you think someone died

“Mum” Melanie called slowly, scared at first

Susan looked up at her and sniffed slowly before standing up

“Daughter” she said and Melanie went to hug her

“Mum tell me everything” she said fearfully

“She passed out at the airport” she said

“Airport?, What was she doing at the….

“she got a letter from Dwayne this morning, telling her he’s out of the country, she almost ran mad, you need to see how she ran wildly out of the house and before I could get to her, she already boarded a cab.

I had to board a cab too and follow her, I got there and met her displaying like someone who’s out of her senses, I had to hold her and when one attendant confirmed that he’s really gone, she fainted and the doctors has been in with her for over twenty minutes” Susan explained

” Can’t believe her puppy love has to be so hærd like this” Melanie said sadly

” Trust me I’ve never see her like that before, we both know that right from her primary school days, she’s not into guys but what attracted her in this guy is what I don’t know, first suspicious thing was that his line was off throughout the last three days, Valerie almost went insane, she’s always crying at night, I almost ran out of ways to console her, Melanie she suffered a lot” Susan said pathetically

Philip sat dejectedly. Not now, this shouldn’t be happening just now he thought

Now that Stella came, she came with bunches of badluck, gosh!

The doctors suddenly came out of the room and Susan spranged up

“Yes?”

“She’s fine now though we did a lot in bringing her back, she must have received a big shock”

” Yes doctor, bigger than big” Susan replied

” This shouldn’t repeat itself anymore cos it’s dangerous, by the way she’s stable now and you can go see her” the doctor said again

They all rushed into the ward and met her lying on bed, she’s not conscious yet but she’s breathing at least

“Daughter” Susan cried

“Mum you know you can’t be noisy” Melanie said beside her

“I just can’t help it, seeing my daughter like this is too horrible, she can’t talk”

” She’s not dead mum, I’m sure she’ll soon wake up, please” Melanie said

Philip placed a comforting arm round her shoulder, she looked up at him and managed to cease her tears

“It’s ok ma’am, don’t cry anymore” he said…

” He obviously ran away with Felix” Linda said after fruitless searches for Dwayne

“Yes, I know, Felix is the only old guard here, he’s the only one he has ever related with so I’m not surprised” Fido replied

” Sir, the international airport says he left Paris some hours ago with the plane going to Singapore” one of the guards who’s just coming in said

“Even better, I don’t want a ba$tard, it’s obvious he’s one” Fido said and a smug smile spread on Linda’s face

Now I can have Valerie to myself, and Whitney as a bonus mate Darien thought

” Ion know why boss isn’t at work yet, and he’s not calling” Sally said, checking his office for the third time

She went back to her office and Immediately her bum touched her chair, a knock touched the door

“Yes?”

The door swung open and Leo came in, smiling handsomely

“Hey, Leo” she beamed, standing up

He w¡dened his arms and she just knew she walked up to him and hugged him, in his arms she feels better

“Hey, your heart is beating rapidly” Sally said, feeling his heartbeat as they hugged

Leo broke the hug and smiled

“Why won’t it beat rapidly when I’m with.. someone special” he said and Sally’s cheeks flushed red

” And also, there’s a little bit of difference, actually there’s fear in the way it beats right now, and anytime an unknown fear makes my heart beat increase, it means something bad will happen to me, the last time it happened, I lost my ex in a car accident” he said

*What! ‘

” Yes, and this time I’m hoping it won’t be as much” he said

” What to do? ” Sally said worriedly

” I dunno, I just hope for the best, Philip is not here yet because he’s at the hospital”

” What! ”

” Yeah, Valerie is not ok, I guess he’s too busy to call”

” No wonder he’s not here yet, but is something else happening?”

” Mrs S is back” Leo whispered

” By saying S, you don’t mean”.. she looked around as if someone is watching them before looking at Leo again, “Stella?” She said

Leo nodded

Her eyes turned glassy in shock, “what the… He.ll!”

“What happened to my friend!” Lillian scre-med as she entered Valerie’s ward, she actually just heard the news this evening

“Quiet Lillian” Susan said carefully

“What happened to my friend why is she laying down without talking” she said fearfully

” Dwayne left” Susan said slowly

Lillian got it Immediately, if Valerie can behave insane cos she didn’t see him or hear his voice for three days, then it’s worth it for her to pass out if he travels

“My poor friend,my baby” Lillian cried loudly

Robin later came with Melanie and they continued watching over her till she woke up in the evening

“Mummy” she called slowly first

Susan jerked up and held her, “daughter, my baby you’re awake”

“Mum I just want to see him badly” she said again, about to start crying again

” No you can’t cry, Valerie please don’t let those tears fall, please you can’t cry” Melanie said, holding her second hand

” Bestie, you just have to believe that if you both are destined for each other, you both will meet again, if you work with that things will be fine” Lillian said, staring into her eyes as if to pour hope in them

“Really?” She asked sadly

“Trust me,you know I’m always right, I’m sure you both will meet again in a way you aren’t expecting” Lillian said

” Lilian he told me he loves me in the letter” she said

” that’s what I’m talking about, you’ll surely meet again, now heave a sigh of relief” Lillian said and that seemed to calm her down a bit, she looked at her bracelet and kssed it

“I love you Dwayne” she said, resting on Lillian

“Sally will be worried, I didn’t call her ” Philip said after the wh0le scenario

He picked his phone and dialled her number

“Sally”

“Boss, Leo told me what happened, I was just thinking of calling” she replied

” She’s fine now, do I have any appointments tomorrow?”

” Yes sir, dinner with the KK companies for the partnersh¡p discussion at Fidelity dinner palace” she replied

” Oh”

” And you need to bring your wife along sir” she said

” So he’s attending a dinner tomorrow night, we can just have our way from there” Rico said after several rounds of sx with Stella

Stella lightened a cigarette and smoked carelessly

“Yes, did you get the bomb ready?” She asked

“Oh, so it’s bomb this time around” Rico replied, smoking too

” Of course, since he’s going there with that witch, we just have to bomb them with the unfortunate people that’ll be in there tomorrow night, then after that, getting my son will be a piece of cake” she replied

” You know S-lady, you caused all this, ion know why you have to get pre.gnant for him when you know it’s a game, now that son is your weakness” Rico said

” Rico stop talking like this, yeah it’s a game, we planned that I should pretend like one cool good girl and enter his life story so we can siphon his money, I did and captured his heart, we got married after six months and this guy we’re talking about is overly r©mantic, I told you I nearly fell for him too, and as couples, you don’t expect me to refuse him on our wedding night.

We did it with the thought that if it eventually results to pre.gnancy, I’ll abort, but during the pregnancy he’s always around me, making that Impossible, then I decided to give birth and just abandon it when it’ll be time for me to go.

You know how much of his money I siphoned before I put to bed and I’m smart enough to sabotage one of his workers for it so he won’t get suspicious, I gave birth when his company had almost run down as a result of the money I stole, then I abandoned the baby and we left the country together, now tell me my fault in this!, Tell me!” Stella yelled

” Ok S-lady I’m sorry….but seems I haven’t seen the picture of his wife” Rico replied

Stella rolled eyes at him and threw him a tab which he caught

“She’s the first picture in the camera roll” she said

Rick opened it and started laughing hysterically

Stella had to look back at him

“Don’t tell me your brain is now on leave” she said

” His name is Melanie Fontana right?” Rico said, still laughing

“Oh, so you know” Stella replied

“I’m knowing that now cos she hasn’t changed at all, she has same face like when she was still sixteen” Rico replied

” Meaning?”

” I once told you I b.anged a little girl right?, I ba.nged her like I’ve never done to anyone before…. others call it rappe but I call it bang, she’s the one…that sweet little girl, I always smile when I remember that night, the sweetest night of my life, like she was sweet even as a young girl back then” Rico said, licking his lower lip

“Then cool, I mean she deserves it, so Philip replaced me with a girl you took her vrgnity” Stella said, smiling goofily

” Yeah, the girl I banged” Rico replied, still laughing

*Well that apart, get the bomb ready, we have to go plant it in the dinner place tomorrow evening before the dinner” Stella said

CHAPTER 42

Valerie was discharged today and is just getting home with her mum and and Valerie though the only picture in her head right now is Dwayne, she hid her tears with everything possible so Susan won’t go sad again

“Sit” Susan said, guiding her to sit on the couch

“Thanks mum” she replied

“Daughter, I won’t want you to continue being like this, school resumes on Monday, you have to be fine before I’ll allow you to step a foot in,side your school” Susan said

*I understand but I just can’t help but be sad, it’s too sudden” she replied sadly

Lillian came in shortly

“I can’t think straight at home cos I know you’ll still be brooding” she said as she settled beside her

” You shouldn’t have stressed yourself” Valerie said, looking at her with a sad face

” Just look at what I’m talking about, your face looks as if someone dumped trucks of sadness on it” Lillian said

Valerie hugged her tightly, “thanks for coming to stay, can you sleepover?, Please” she said

” Of course, so now don’t be sad anymore” Lillian sighed

Susan smiled sadly. Even when I’m gone, she has good people around

“I’ll be right back” she said and head for the bathroom, she got there and started coughing as usual, covering her mouth with her hanky so it won’t make much sound

She coughed out bl.ood as usual and it’s getting more and more day by day, the hanky is now soaked with bl.ood, she quickly disposed it and rinsed her mouth

“You’re the best Darien” she breathed heavily as he climbed off the be.d and dressed up

She covered herself with the duvet and still kept licking her l-ips

“Is my release that sweet?” He said with an arrogant smirk

“Sure, sweeter than any meal, I wish we could do it over and over again” she replied $eductively

” Are you trying to murder me?, Fk off” he replied, picking his jacket

“now that Dwayne is gone and I didn’t get to taste his c*ck for even once, you’ll be f*cking me everyday right?” Whitney said, putting on her p-nties

“no, I’ll call you anytime I need you, right now I need to get into Valerie’s p-nts immediately we resume on Monday” he replied before leaving the room

Kat sighed and sat slowly on a sofa in her balcony, wearing only a strapless singlet and shorts, she has a glass of wine in her hand, drinking from it every now and then

“Philip Albert, Melanie Albert…I’m back and for the fact that Stella is also back, I can’t wait to work together with her and get you guys destroyed for good” she said slowly, dropping the glass cup

It shattered to bits and the wine formed a small river which flowed down the stairs

She laughed shortly before getting frowny again

“Kat is back, you guys won’t go Scot free for making me get bitten by jail mosquitoes for three months” she thought..

” I told you no entry if you have no appointment with my boss!”

” and I’m telling you I don’t have to get an appointment to see him, are you deaf?”

“I’m not deaf and with due respect ma, it’s better you step out”

Philip went out of the office immediately he heard the arguments, it’s surely the voice of Stella and his secretary

“Oh, and here comes the puppet” Stella said Immediately she showed up

” I think I told the guards not to let you in anytime you show up” he said surprisingly

” Surprised?, Well that only means your guards are as daft as you, I used simple disguise and they fell for it” she said and brought out a wig from her bag, she wore it over her hair and looks totally different with the fringe in front of it

“This is how I got to enter, now Straight to bussiness” she said and brought out the annulling papers, she brought out a pen and placed the papers on the table, she signed her part and threw it at him

“Deal done, we’re out of it and I’ll leave, but not without taking my son!* She said seriously, using her glasses

“Oh, how funny, which son are you talking about?, The one you abandoned for seven years?” Philip laughed

” I don’t care!, All I know is that I’ll do anything to have my son back!, I mean anything!, And a lot will get wounded, casualties will be much too so get ready..you and your raped wife” she said , giving him devilish glances, she made to go out but he pulled her back and hit her back on the wall, holding her shoulders tight and almost digging his nails in it

“Ba$tard!, Let me go!” She yelled as sweat beads appeared on her forehead, her glasses fell

“You don’t dare touch my son or my wife!, Stay away from them cos that’s the only way for you to live long!, Shameless wh©re!” He ranted before releasing her

” You’ll regret this!’ she said before hurriedly leaving

*Call all the guards in duty today!, Call them!’ he yelled at his secretary who ran out immediately

Stella drove down the road in fury, her arm still hurts as a result of the hold

“That son of a ba$tard” she mouthed and noticed a car behind her, she has noticed the car has been following her since she left Philip’s office

“A death game huh?” She thought and swiftly entered a bridge corner, the car zoomed in with her

Stella got her gun from her car safe and left the car, she pointed the gun at the car straight

“Out of the car” she said calmly but effectively

Slowly and cautiously, Kat came out of the car, smiling lightly

“Kat?” Stella said, lowering her gun, yes she knows her cos she was Philip’s manager when she was still with him

“It’s me, welcome back madam” Kat replied, walking towards her.

Night, 7pm**

” I fired all the guards in duty, I mean, they’re big fools to let that happen” Philip said while preparing for the dinner outing with Melanie, Melanie is in the bedroom while he’s in the dressing room

“That’s the right thing, they got deceived so easily” Melanie replied from the bedroom

” We just have to be extra careful, she signed her own part of the papers already, it made my suspicions stronger, she has a motive, and she was threatening to take Robin away and she’d blood” Philip said

The mention of blood made a knot tie in Melanie’s stomach but she quickly got over the fear

“She’s not capable, I swear she won’t be able to do anything, by the way I’m done dressing up” she replied

” Ok, coming cos I’m done too” he replied and stepped out of the dressing room.

The rest of the words went back into his stomach and digested with his dinner immediately he saw her

She’s drop dead gorgeous in the purple dress, though she wore a very light makeup, she’s still beautiful and she’s beaming with smiles when she saw her effect on her..

He came closer and k-ssed her slowly but wistfully.

“You’re so gorgeous” he said after the wh0le make out

“Thanks love, you look dashing too” she replied, smiling brightly

“Thanks sweetheart, Robin is asleep right?”

“Sure” she replied

They left the room hand in hand and eventually left the house, over thirty guards is already on standby , surrounding the house..

“No… mistakes, I repeat..no, mistakes” he said sternly when they’re about to get in the car

“Sure sir” their leader replied

Melanie and Philip got in the car and the ride to Fidelity dinner palace started with a car of about eight guards riding behind them

They got there soon and met Sally waiting with Leo outside

*I’m sorry boss, he insisted on following” Sally said

Philip looked at Leo and winked

“I trust you, let’s go in” he said and led the way, holding Melanie’s hand

They settled down with the CEO of the other company who also came with his wife and manager

Leo sat on a chair at the far end of the place, they actually rented the place for tonight so no one in except them

The servers came with their meal and Philip smiled when he inhaled the aroma

“Cool, but not as cool as my anything cooked by my sweetheart” he said, making Melanie blush, he held her hand under the table

” Yes, I’ve heard about her cooking skills too and I really want to confirm it one day” the other CEO , Ralph by name said

“Yes, I’ll make you the best of the best” Melanie replied

” No, all your best of the best are form me” Philip said and Ralph’s wife laughed

” How sweet” she said

“Ok, let’s eat before it gets cold and then get to bussiness” Ralph said

“I hope we enjoy” Sally said

” Sure” Melanie replied

The server made to serve Leo but he declined, saying he’s fine, he got a call from one of the producers at J-bliss and is going out to pick when he suddenly sighted a red light at the back of the exit door

He had to come back and pulled the door more widely, his eyes w¡dened in h©rror when he saw what it is

It’s a freaking time bomb!, And gosh!, The timer is currently reading two minutes before it’ll blast

He got an adrenaline rush and grabbed the bomb, he ran out of the place and Sally sighed him immediately

She stood and rushed after him

Leo got to the big parking lot and threw the bomb when it’s remaining two seconds to blast

It landed in the middle of the exotic cars and blasted immediately, the force of the blast hit Leo hærd and swept him off his feet

He flew and landed on the nearest wall, hitting his head hærd on the wall, he landed down with a bleeding head

Sally hasn’t witnessed something as h©rrific as this before, she stood at the exit, staring speechlessly at the scenario in front of her

The parking lot is burning fiercely already

Then her eyes found Leo where he’s lying helplessly, they almost popped out of their sockets as she ran towards him, she took off her heels when it’s becoming a bother

“Leo!!!!!” She scre-med in tears

She ran barefooted to him and sat on the ground, placing his head on her laps

Philip, Melanie and the others are beyond shocked?, Is there any word worse than shocked?, That’s the state they’re in right now

“Leo!!!” Philip scre-med fearfully, running to the scene too

Melanie fell on the ground in her s₱0t, shedding tears at what just happened

“No… No….no!!!!!” She scre-med

“Leo look at me, Leo look at me please!” Sally kept saying as Philip dialled the emergency line with shaky hands and teary face

Leo’s head kept bleeding profusely and he seems lifeless

“Leo please open your eyes!, Don’t do this to me I love you” Sally said as his blood stained her palm

“Leo!!!” She scre-med again…
