EMILY POV

A WEEK LATER

I sat in the patio all getting prepared for the first phase of the advertising part of the resort.

I still couldn’t believe that the resort is pushing through.

It has been a week. A week the renovation of the resort have started.

A lot of people were coming in to the mansion and going out.

And due to this renovating stuff have met some few new people and each of them have been nothing but kind.

It’s been a week and I hærdly always see Cade, I know that he is busy trying to get the company back on its feet but he should at least spare me some of his time.

The only time I get to see him is when he is about to leave the house in the wee hours of the morning.

And even then he would look so cold and withdrawn, though he doesn’t say it, I know that the resort renovation is getting to him.

I wonder what went wrong to have made him hate the resort itself.

Cade mom on the other hand keeps on complaining about the dust that the renovation is causing or the sound of the brick layer or the carpenter who are trying to put two and two together, she wakes up all the time ready to complain about one or two thing .

While Cade and his mom do all of this, his father and Isabel either lock themselves in or go out for a while.

Though his father doesn’t go that far, it’s either to the patio or to the fields to get some air and as for Isabel, I never know, she hærdly tells me things and I don’t bother to ask her after all, we are not that close

I tried to dial my parents number again and it still won’t go.

Ever since Cade gave me back my phone, have been trying to reach them ,though he told me not to worry about them.

“They might Be enjoying their holiday so much that they don’t check their phone or try to call you back ,give them more time, they will call you”,those were his words each time I told him about my parents not picking

I sighed as they call didn’t go through, just what sort of holiday are they enjoying so much,I thought as I continued to work on the new laptop Cade had bought

He hadn’t gotten me some thing sparkly and expensive like Veronica had told him, he had bought me a laptop and I know that I will cherish it more than any expensive ring, necklace or dress.

But it feels so lonely with out him here, I don’t know why am feeling long when there are a lot of people here.

‘could it be that you miss him because you are finally admitting to yourself that you love him’ my conscience said to me as I kept on with my work

When I had this love thought about a week ago ,I dismissed it saying that I didn’t love, though he is kind and sweet when you get to know him,he also a jerk some time and that alone makes me so furious.

How can I fall In love with some one who makes me mad some times , so me loving Cade is a total rubbish ,I thought as I stood up flexing my muscles a bit by stretching.

When I heard some voices down stairs,I turned to look,only to see some teenage boys starring at me In awe.

The remodelling of the resort need more hands and a lot of people that needs money come here just to get a few part as long as it get them money.

The youth who were working always gawked at me each time I went there to check at their progress.

I always find it to be cute of them and I still find it .

I gave them a smile and waved at them and they gave me a smile in return and waved at me

“She is so beautiful”

“The boss chose right!”

“I wish I was a few years older and I won’t hesitate in going for her”

“She is just so beautiful”

Hearing their compliment made me blush all over

Just then arm was wrapped around me and though I was surprised,I looked up only to see Cade.

“Don’t you think it’s wrong to stare at some one wife?”Cade asked the boys who were gawking at me and quickly they walked off

“And you all are right? I chose right”He yelled after them and I blushed a bit

“And you aren’t you getting a lot of attention from this teenage kids, I think you should onlu be working in,side from now on” he said as he still held onto me

I couldn’t say any thing because I was feeling great that he was here and that he had me in his arms.

For days now have been longing to see him and I hærdly get that chance and now that I have the chance ,I feel so happy.

“Won’t you let go of me?”that was the only thing I could manage to say

“Relax,! You know I will only hold you like this if it weren’t for a show for some one”he whispered to me and before I could get what he was saying, he spun me around and I stood looking at a blonde beautiful lady.

She was all dressed smartly and she looked so beautiful,I thought as I stared at my own plain clothe

“My love”Cade called slowly and for a while I wondered who he was referring to as his love and when I realised that it was me, I also realised that the acting part has started.

“I want you to meet Stephanie Blake the interior designer”he said to the lady who gave me a false smile

I was able to know that her smile was false because of the way she kept on starring at Cade arms around me

“Nice to meet you”She said politely and i greeted her back in the same manner

“Since you are the one in charge of this resort, why don’t you tell her what you would like for each room my love”He asked using that same name to call me.

Some how I found myself liking it and i found myself wanting to hear him call me that every day

While Cade left to check on the workers, I stayed at the patio talking to Stephanie.

“So what do you think of these designs?”She asked showing me another picture for the fifth time

“I don’t like these either”I said

The only taste she have was of one of luxury and that is some thing am trying to avoid for the resort and the people.

I want them to think of the resort like their home, like when they go out,they should feel like they will be coming back to their home but if it’s giving a luxurious look, they will always be reminded that they are paying for it.

Stephane dropped down her phone in anger “just what do you want for the interior”She asked

“Pardon!”,

“Look at you acting all big and mighty,don’t kid yourself about your husband, he might have married you but his wonamsing ways will still continue”

“I was once his lover you know and I know that him coming all the way to the city to get me so I can be the interior designer certainly means some thing right?”She asked as she stood up

“What do you mean?”

“That your husband still wants to have fun while he is married to you, I will go and see him, am sure that he will waiting for me already, I also want to know how he feels again’”She said as she walked off

Stephanie was his lover and yet he brought her here,how could he?”I thought as I packed my things from the patio and Went straight to my room.

Having taken enough time in the room, I went out to get some air.

I just got jealous, I was jealous and that was why I got hurt by what she said

Just knowing that Cade had brought his mistress home made me feel sad.

I know I might not be his real wife and he might not even love me but that doesn’t mean he can bring in his mistress or anyone else to the house.

Feeling so very sad, I head to the garden path only to stop when I saw Cade and Stephanie talking at a distance and they were far too close for my comfort.

I saw Cade taking Stephanie hand in his and then he pulled her into a hug.

I stood at a distance watching them and I felt like I was going to die with jealousy and what’s worse I felt that my heart was about to break to pieces.

Why am I feeling this way????.

Chapter 24

EMILY POV

I stood there still watching them hugging each other, the more I watched, the more I felt hurt.

I will never be feeling this way if I didn’t feel something.

Can I really be In love with Cade? I turned to leave the scene before they see me.

But I can’t be in love, I certainly can’t be in love with a guy who is only using me.

Very soon I will be returning to the city and our deal will certainly end and am sure that with the countless women he will have waiting for him, he wouldn’t even bother about me, I thought as I kept on walking back through the garden

Why did I have to fall for him,Why? I thought as I remembered the sweet things he says, the way he had been gentle and caring towards me, the way he had apologised after knowing that he did me wrong, the beautiful smile on his face each time he gives me a smile

Who wouldn’t fall for all those qualities,I thought as I sighed

“Alone again?”on hearing Cade father,I turned to see him standing not so far from me holding his walk stick

Seems like he was having his walk as usual,I thought as I gave him a smile and went to him

“What do you mean by alone again, I have your company right?”I asked as I went to him

“Then let’s keep each other Company because I feel bored and tired, why don’t you tell me your progress on the resort”he asked

I began to tell him the things we have finished and also the little that remain to be done.

There were times that have always felt lonely by just being by myself but Cade father was always there to listen to me and push me forward.

I can say that in this past few days, I have been more close to Cade father because he gives me his time to listen to what I have to say , i thought as I continued to tell him about the progress of the resort

“You know I never thought that I will reopening the resort again”he said after I finished talking

“Why? I can remember that Cade mother got angry when I mentioned the resort “I said wanting to know more

Cade is very secretive and he wouldn’t tell me a thing but for the resort to have been shut down because of some thing that happened in the past then some thing very bad must have happened and maybe his father might just tell me about it, I thought

I was surprised when he took hold of my hand and held it tightly

“There are things that are not to be known, I can assure you that you wouldn’t like to know what happened, so let’s just forget the past and move on”he said said frustrating me some more.

Why won’t they just tell me what made them close down the resort.

That was how Cade and Stephanie saw us when they finally finished their discussion or should I say their ill!cit renuion

“I can see that you and my father have gotten quite close” he said having that handsome smile on his face as he walked towards us..

At any other time, I would have lost my senses for a while and it will be because of his smile but seeing the way Stephanie clutched to his arm,i didnt sway a bit.

“Since you have always been busy with work, Emily and I keep each other company, hope you aren’t t jealous?”His father asked jokingly

“Of course not, she can keep you company and you can keep her company”He said and then he bent towards me and gave me a peck on the forehead

“Am sorry that have been neglecting you but it’s all due to work ,As soon as I am through, I will give you all my attention”he said and then walked off.

For a while I stayed like that,still feeling the tingling of his l-ips on my fore head but then I remembered that he must have done it for show, after all am only here to to pretend in front of his parents and every one else

“I would like to head back in, would you please escourt me”His father asked and i did as he said.

A while later to rid myself of the emotion I was feeling, I went to the house which was still being built to take some pictures.

I like to take pictures of things whenever am agitated or worried.

I know for sure that his resort will turn out to be a success and then when every thing begins to go well.

Cade will return to the city and our deal will be put to an end.

Before I always felt happy each time I think of the day I will be free from the deal but thinking about it now makes me feel sad

Could it be because of what I feel for Cade,I thought as I kept on taking pictures.

“Apart from cooking, is taking pictures another part of your hobby” David asked as he stood behind me

“David!!!!”I called as I went to him,happy to see him again.

He had been sent off by Cade to another island in the region and for a week, he hadn’t been around.

We weren’t even expecting him today,I thought

“Wow, I never thought that I was missed that much but seeing your warm welcome has changed my opinion”he said

“Of course you were missed”I said as I hit him playfully on the shoulder

“I still can’t believe that we are opening the resort again”he said

“Well you have to believe it, I made that possible”I said

“Really?”

“Yes, though Cade and his mother were not in approval of it but his father gave the go ahead”I said

“And Cade just let that happened?”he asked suddenly looking serious

“Yes”I replied not feeling sure of myself

“You look a bit off David, do you also know why the resort was shut down years ago, they know it but they are not letting me in on it, do you know why?”I asked

“Of course not”his quick denial only mean that he knows what happened too

“Seems like you wouldn’t tell me right?” I said

“Emily I…….”

“Its okay, I understand, if I will know the truth then I certainly will find out, I won’t put you under any pressure to tell me, I will take more pictures over there”I said as I gave him a smile and turned to leave

“Actually Emily………”He called only for Cade to appear

“What do you think you are doing?”cade asked as he stared at David .

“What do you think am doing?” David asked

“Don’t get me angry David, You know you made an agreement”Cade said looking so furious

“I know that I made an agreement and I won’t say any thing so be rest assured”He said and walked off

“Why do you keep on snooping around?”Cade said turning to look at me

“Do I look like am snooping?”I asked

“Yes you are, why dont you ever listen to me, have told you that what happened in the past should be kept there, why do you keep on being a busy body”He asked hurting my feeling

“Well am sorry if am being a busy body, am sorry if I wanted to know more of what happened years ago, am sorry if you think that my wanting to know more about you means am snooping, you can be rest assured Cade I won’t be asking again”I said as I turned to leave

“Emily I………”

“Let go Cade, have had enough of you thinking that my reasons of getting to know you have an ulterior motive, up till this day I hærdly know any thing about you and you know a lot about me, isn’t that some how unfair”I asked as I walked off leaving him standing there

I walked towards the house thinking about what just happened.

I didn’t Realise that until I said it today,I still don’t know much about Cade.

Apart from being secretive, he looks like some one who doesn’t trust people easily,maybe it’s because of what happened in his past

Well he can keep his damn secret to himself, I don’t care, I thought as I was about to go in only to stop when I heard his mom voice

“I see you are back?”She said starring down at me while she stood upstairs.

Some how I felt like this isnt the first time have stood down here while she stood up there looking at me

Some where in my mind, I remember myself standing here looking at her but back then I was only a teenager and she looked more young

She had an evil look on her face as she stared at me back then

It was the same look she had now, I thought as I kept starring at her

Just what is this memory? I thought.
